Just had a lovely vacation at Los Delfines. Its best attribute is definitely the location: it's directly on the (stunning) beach, and just a few steps away from restaurants, bars, markets, etc. Many of the resorts in Varadero are located further from the center of the action, and would require a taxi to get anywhere, so we were very happy to be so centrally located. If you like to go explore and walk around, rather than staying in the resort all the time, this is a great place for it.
The first room they gave us had no sheets (which was probably a mistake), but they gave us a new one which was basic but fine. All the rooms seem to be twin rooms. Functional AC, TV, comfortable enough beds, although the blanket was very narrow and not ideal for our tall selves. We didn't have a balcony but many rooms have one.
The food was honestly very fine, always found something to our liking. Bring some condiments if you need. There is no 24h snack bar, but there are many restaurants open at all hours around (including Vernissage close by which is 24hrs). Included in your package is one night in their à la carte restaurants, which had amazing service. Make your reservation at the reception at 10am the day before.
There are occasional shortages for towels and certain drinks, but they really always do their best, and that the situation is similar everywhere. This is also a very affordable resort, so it's expected that some amenities will be lacking. To compensate, at least their drinks are strong! :)
Wifi available for very cheap with purchase of cards valid for 1-hour. Not ideal, but you get used to it.
Good entertainment, especially the very talented local performers who come to showcase different dances.
As advice to people who would stay here: bring your own body towel + hand towel+ beach towel, an extra pillow and blanket if you like that comfort, snacks (lots of them!), a cup/thermos for your drinks, extra toilet paper, ear plugs, and whatever extra products you may have as gifts for the hardworking staff (and leave leftover things behind when you leave, like shampoo, meds, etc). Try to bring two types of currencies (some places only accept USD, or card, or CAD, or Cuban pesos), and change some money (only a little at a time) to pesos with vendors at the nearby market.
Overall, great quality/price deal, would definitely come back better prepared with the above suggestions :) Already missing the sunsets and the warm water!

Let me count the ways this Hotel disappointed me from my previous time there. The services, the cleanness, the food offered. Dinning: butter no available for 5 days out of my 7 days stay. Wine no available for 2 full days and when available only red could be offered. My partner was told by the staff that it was not milk to offer flan or bread putting. Espresso Coffee just dark and cold watering liquid. The stay of disrepair on many areas is pure neglect. The buffet area has a door issues that I was told by people that frequent this places has been noisy for years. Toilets running water in many units. I could go on but let me leave it there.
The sad part comes in two areas, cell phone users by the staff has replaced customer interaction with guests. Cuba no longer what it used to be. I was told by by other patrons to watch for items missing from their rooms in previous stays. Small, to have not being able to be accountable before their return home. Last but no least, smoker guests' at the hotel have yet to learn to be mindful of the environment and leave cigarettes buts on the sand. I have stay in other resorts in Varadero where plastic caps have being attached to the umbrellas so the cigarettes buts can be deposited.

The resort is huge and spans out a couple of blocks, the hotel is a bit rundown but clean. The food is what you would expect in Cuba- not great but you can make due. The entertainment staff though are great and engaging. They interacted with clients and made our days and evening more fun especially when the weather wasn't great. They have limited resources but they are kind and helpful when possible.

First room (#208) I was put in was the worst room I have ever been in... very run down; no safe; no towels; no towel bars; only one hanger for my clothes; couldn't close the window in the bathroom so gnats and mosquitoes found their way in; pillows were so grossly stained; mini fridge was constantly leaking; the door barely locked.

Asked to be changed room and kept being told "tomorrow". Finally on Tuesday, I insisted on the change and moved to room #115... more spacious but still no safe (even though I had been told there was, it didn't work); door handle was coming off the door and I had to insist on having it serviced; pillows still grossly stained but insisted on new and was given some sort of cushions; the room was barely cleaned, for example, the mirror still had writings on it from previous guests. No beach towel available to me all week (probably had a limited number as I did see some guests with towels)!

The hotel did not serve wines (except for Thursday and had run out of red by Friday), and barely any booze or mixes; it was only on Wednesday that they finally got vodka, and on the Thursday that they got cola (for rum and coke for example). They also ran out of glasses (glass as well as plastic) and guests were asked to keep their plastic glasses to reuse. The staff was cutting the top off of plastic bottles (water, for example) and they used that as glasses for their guests.

On the upside, the cleaning lady for room 115 was a kind and pleasant person (though my room was not cleaned for the rest of my stay – one day was at my request to not clean). Also, the lady tending the coffee bar is a very nice and pleasant person.

I have no complaints on the food as I have celiac disease so I’m happy as long as there are fruit and vegetables available!

I absolutely felt that this hotel’s priority is not its out of country guests!

This hotel has a lot of potential, but it is so poorly run/maintained; the staff could use training in regards to cleaning the rooms, for example.

I never visited a 3* hotel in cuba before it was my first time. Usually always 4-5*.
What i liked:
My room was clean.
Hotel On the beach
Downtown so everything is close
Beatifull beach
Maids were efficient
What i didnt like:
Locals were at the hotel too and they hate and drank everything. No beer after 2 days of my stay. Almost no softdrinks. No deserts. Same food everyday.. same food every day. No variations
Limited food (cause of shortage)
No water to drink in the rooms.
Bank changed your money for 1/4 of the real value. Had to go on the streets to get better exchange rates.
Hair dryer blew up while she was using it.

This was my 3rd time at Los Delfines, and I found the hotel emptier than usual, with a lot of Cuban tourists sprinkled amongst the primarily Canadian clientele. No Russians to be seen. I was given a room in the same building as the lobby (room 235) and it was wonderful. There was a TV with plenty of English channels, AC, mini fridge, and a great view from the balcony. Meals are spartan but I am not a "foodie" so they were just fine with me. I never waited in line for an omelet or grilled meat. Drinks were plentiful and on tap. The beach continues to be amazing. The entertainment was great. Staff are LOVELY. The weather was divine for the entire week (it rained once at night). Did I say week, I meant to say 8 days because my Sunwing flight back to Canada was cancelled and I got an extra day at no extra charge. I was not complaining. In fact, if anyone reading this is looking for complaints, you wont get them here. If you are looking for a luxury hotel with gourmet meals then go somewhere other than Cuba. Such first world problems we have as we sit on the beach and lament the miseries of live. The bar ran out of milk on the last 2 days so no capuccino. Big deal. This is a country dealing with severe shortages and covid has decimated their economy. Just be thankful to be out of the snow and cold. Next time I will pack some of the small packages of coffee whitener that I have in copious amounts. Note to self. Otherwise, I have nothing negative to say and am actually contemplating going back in 2 weeks. Why not? WONDERFUL resort and stay. Gracias Cuba.

Come March 1/2020 it will be our 23rd time at this resort. Love the location right on the beach in the middle of town. Walking distance to banco, restaurants, bars and shopping. My kind of place! Something for everyone. My husband loves fishing sp goes out in a catamaran while I sit reading at the beach bar looking out over the beach and water.

First time when I visited this great place in the hearth of Varadero. From the first day I had the chance to enroll myself within all the resort's entertainment activities. Hotel employee Nelly ( Janeidy Boada ) was in charge with all entertainment activities. On my entire stay at this resort, Nelly proved to be a professional entertainment employee. Full of creativity, Nelly was leading all activities with confidence and enthusiasm . Best spanish language teacher, a great beach volleyball player. Was leading the stretching time with lots of fun and inovativity.
An excelent dance teacher, that was able to attract large groups of people on the dancing ring every night.
Easygoing , very sociable, full of charm, friendly and funny. Nelly is a great asses to this resort.
I fully recomend this hotel.

Stayed here in the last week of January with my lady friend.. was a very inexpensive all inclusive. The hotel itself probably could use some renovations soon but the staff is amazingly friendly. Coffee bar has great coffee in the morning. Great drinks... restaurant buffet was normal Cuban fair but always fresh and tasty.. great omelets for breakfast... looking for a budget friendly hotel in varadero... I'd highly recommend!

I was recently there and the front lobby was not under renovation. So I'm guessing it has been completed.

Ask for rooms above the lobby bar - they are larger and have a table and chairs plus a furnished large balcony
