The Royal Sea Aquarium Resort stands out for its spacious rooms with impressive views, though some guests find the decor dated. While praised for its cleanliness and eco-friendly approach, the resort has faced criticism for advertising discrepancies and unexpected charges. The prime location offers a private beach and convenient shuttle service, but a few visitors felt room amenities fell short. Service is generally commended for its helpfulness, and the resort's proximity to dining and nightlife options is a highlight for many travelers.

A wonderful, wonderful place to stay. So well located with the ocean in one side (so close) and the lagoon on the other. Small compact island, everything you need, situated close to bars, shops, restaurants, boats. Amazing, friendly, polite, helpful staff. Never too busy, always lots of choice of sun beds on the beach or by the pool. Free shuttle bus to the supermarkets and small charge for shuttle into town, about 15 minutes away. We’ll worth visiting with lots of great shopping, dining and sightseeing. Accommodation is located next to the Sea Aquarium and submergable station, so much to do or just sit and watch the gentle comings and goings of the divers, fishermen and snorkellers. Very accessible for those living with disability, peaceful, beautiful, amazing base to explore from or just hang out and chill. We had heard the decor was a bit dated, it is but it doesn’t matter. It’s clean, spacious, well equipped and the location is what makes it so special. Each apartment and the pool or beach are perfectly positioned for watching the beautiful sunsets.
Hope we have the chance to come back again

Large, well thought out rooms in our two bedroom condo. One bedroom with a king, the other with 2 queens and two Murphy beds in the living room. Since there were only four of us, we didn't use the Murphy beds. Our balcony faced the sea aquarium next door and we watched several shows from our balcony. Room 304 a&b. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you would normally need to prepare a meal although we didn't do any cooking. Mr. Coffee style coffee pot for ground coffee. Linens were very clean and towels were replaced daily. A full breakfast was served at the small restaurant next to the pool and it was included in the price of our room. The restaurant also serves very reasonably priced drinks ($5) while they're open. Like many resorts, they have towel cards which must be turned in at the end of your stay.
If you have a car you must check in at the guard shack prior to approaching the gate to get into the resort. He will open the gate to allow you to check in and out with your luggage. There is no parking near the rooms but a 4 or 5 minute walk from the parking lot in 80 degree weather is not too bad. Reception is very happy to answer any questions you have and they were very pleasant.
The music does go well into the night and while it is loud, it didn't keep us from sleeping with the AC on and the doors closed. Friday and Saturday were the worst.
We went snorkeling in the channel that runs along the resort. Coral life is minimal but there were lots of different species of fish...enough to keep us entertained and we have snorkeled all over the Caribbean. If you want outstanding snorkeling, go to "tugboat" near the old fort.
There are many restaurants within a 5 minute walk of the resort.
Suffice it to say I would definitely stay here again.
From the information in the rooms, they apparently have had problems with young spring breakers and they make it clear that they are not welcome and rowdiness will not be tolerated. If you're young and looking for a place to party, I would avoid this resort.

We recently stayed in a one bedroom suite with our child. The lay out was ideal; our daughter slept on a murphy bed in the living room while we could relax and watch TV in the bedroom. Balcony was accessible from either the bedroom or living room. The rooms were very clean, king sized bed comfortable but the murphy bed was a bit firm for me (but it beats a saggy sofa bed any day!). The kitchen was well equipped and we were happily surprised to see a dishwasher. This resort is time-shared based (we are not members) so I was not prepared to have no shampoo/conditioner or lotion provided. Hand soap was in a pump format at the sink and in the bath. Dish soap (including for the dishwasher) was provided. I was also only expecting maid service only once a week (as per their website) but we received daily service which included fresh towels, making the beds, tidying up and emptying the trash. One small negative about its time-shared basis is that they plan for Saturday to Saturday stays. But they accommodated our Sunday to Sunday stay; even though we had to change rooms on the Saturday night, they carefully and thoroughly moved our belongings, even the fridge items, to the new room while were out exploring...of course with our permission. The resort itself is beautifully set on the ocean and next to the sea aquarium. If your room doesn't face the aquarium, you can still see the dolphin shows from some outdoor stairway landings. The sea lion shows can be seen from outside the main office. There were always loungers available and the pool uncrowded. There is no entertainment, but just a 1 minute walk will take you to Mambo beach were there are lots of restaurants and bars. We only heard loud music in our room one night (Saturday) from a nearby club, but our room was one of the furthest away from the club/bar. Otherwise it was very quiet and relaxing. Our daughter learned how to snorkel in the sheltered channel and although it was a sandy bottom with no coral, there were enough interesting fish to look at. There is a bit of boat traffic in one area, but across the channel (at the Lion's Dive resort) there is a sheltered contained area that is very safe for kids. The beach is crushed coral with sand so water shoes are recommended. We had a truly relaxing and enjoyable stay and definitely will be returning again!

Great small boutique hotel, very clean with comfortable beds( firm beds), pillows very soft( you can bring your own if you do not like it). They change towels every day but room cleaning just 2 times a week.
We bought additional breakfast for $9 a person. Do not recommended!!! My eggs/ omlette was overcooked, other time so salty. But we give other chance and had a lunch there. Chicken was like a rock, not chewable, fresh squeezed juices was from carton. There very good restaurant across our resort , you can enjoy your food there.

Our stay at the Royal Sea Aquarium Resort was a pleasant one. It was quiet and offered a perfect view of the sunset. No airport transfer pick up/drop off available. Taxi costs $45 USD extra. The staff are friendly and we also appreciated the free shuttle bus into town and the grocery store. The room we occupied was spacious but outdated – the walls were a yellowish tone and parts for the bathroom were rusty. Some items below I wish I knew before booking here:

1) There’s no bar in the pool area.
2) There’s no service/waitstaff at the beach. No bar at the beach.
3) There is one restaurant connected to the resort, Olas Y Copas but it’s not part of the resort. You cannot bill to your room.
4) All other restaurants are across the bridge at Mambo Beach.
5) The resort promotes an eco friendly environment, which is great, but if you like getting perks such as designer toiletries/lotion, coffee or tea as part of the amenities package, this might not be the vacation destination for you. There’s a soap dispenser in the vanity area and it’s the same soap provided in the shower.

We’ve been time share owners here since it opened almost 20 years ago. They also rent available units on a day to day basis.
With only 30 units, all 2 BR/2 Bath apartments with capacity of 6 and all able to be split into a larger and a smaller unit, it’s quiet and personal. The staff is attentive to everyone and everything. There are 2 pools and a hot tub as well as the private lagoon and beach. The small cafe/bar has a small menu but, is convenient, moderately priced and is tasty.
The Sea Aquarium is next door and Mambo Beach Blvd. is a short walk on the other side of the lagoon.
Absolutely love this place.

My wife and I stayed here with some friends and family recently, and we could not have been happier with the Royal Sea Aquarium. The friendly service and spectacular views have made an impression I will never forget. Since there are only a couple arriving flights from the States each Saturday it’s not unusual to have some congestion at check in, but everyone gets the same attentive service with a smile. There are multiple pools on site as well as a beautifully manicured beach. There are no less then 10 restaurants within walking distance, and several of those have live entertainment in the evening. It is also a dive and snorkeling paradise, and ALL of that can be done without taking a bus or cab anywhere. Where else can you put a $20 in you pocket with a room key, rent your dive gear 100 yards away, do a shore entry unguided dive on a world class reef and stop for an ice cold Carona at a beach bar on the way back to your room. At one point we hit a snag because of a scheduling error that could have affected our entire trip, and the front desk manager Alejandra personally made it her mission to solve the problem with the perfect blend of urgency, professionalism, knowledge and compassion. I could not possibly be more impressed. My only regret is your rating system ONLY allows 5 stars. I can’t wait to come back to this paradise.

This was my first trip to Curacao and Royal Sea Aquarium Resort had good Trip Advisor reviews. From the moment you interact with their customer service staff you feel like you made a good choice.

Since I wasn't familiar with how to transfer from airport to hotel, I emailed the hotel and they arranged our private taxi and provided confirmation, pricing and instructions on where to find your driver upon arrival.

Once we arrived at the hotel lobby we were greeted by the most welcoming staff: Flor & Nisha who are the most professional and helpful front desk agents. They also made all my taxi arrangements and made sure I knew all the activities going on in the area during my stay. Chris the front desk manager started the check-in process and ensured since we arrived before check-in I would receive my room preference on the second floor. Feel free to ask the front desk staff for help and let them know if you have any issues.

Once we arrived in our one bedroom suite it was much larger than what you can capture in pictures. You walk in and their is a full kitchen with all full appliances: stove w/oven, microwave, large refrigerator, coffee maker and blender. They also give every kitchen utensil and dishes you will need. You then walk into a nice furnished living room with big flatscreen TV, 2 fold down beds and dining room table. The room is a good size and has a King bed as well as a bathroom and walk-in closet with iron and iron board. They also had a big safe to store important items, passport, money, etc. There is a huge balcony with outdoor furniture and our room faced Curacao aquarium where you saw the dolphins being fed in the morning and most beautiful sunset.

There is a lovely pool, hot tub and beach with beach chairs right on property and it was great to have private amenities on site. Their is Olas restaurant right on site with the most gorgeous views and great for drinks and quick meals. Their is a walking path that leads to Mambo Beach with all the popular restaurants and shopping right along the strip which we appreciated for safety and convenience.

I would recommend this resort for large groups and people who don't want all inclusive but want to be in a prime location.

We take a tropical vacation every year, and this resort was our favorite! It's smaller and quiet, we always felt very safe. The best terrace we've ever had too! It's the best way to start the day...out on the Terrace with morning coffee overlooking the lovely pool area and ocean. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. You can snorkel off the beach area - just go under the bridge that goes to the parking lot - very safe reef area with a good selection of fish and coral being grafted. Enjoyed seeing the sea lion show at the aquarium for free three times. The only negative - the mattress was a bit lumpy. The decor was appropriate for the Caribbean.; limestone floors I believe.

The moment we checked in, we were impressed by the friendly welcome of the staff. Our room was large and airy, clean and comfortable. The area was perfect for a fun weekend. Situated next door to the Sea Aquarium where we could watch dolphin and sea lion shows. Next door is Mambo Beach where, on Friday nights, there is a fun party atmosphere and not far from Jan Theil Beach where the party rocks on Saturday night. There is a small, calm inlet for snorkeling and swimming, as well as a little beach for sunbathing. Breakfast was served seaside, made to order, tasty and plentiful. All in all, quite a pleasant stay.

It was a typicall coffee machine but on the bigger size. There were the usual hotel bathroom supplies like shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap, tissues, and so on. Yup elevator with freight ability for wheelchairs/heavier suitcases in each building. There are countless restaurants within 5-10 minutes walk. Right at the front of the resort is a bar/restaurant on the water. Incredible drinks and food as well as breakfast and specialty coffees. Casino is maybe 20 minute walk right at Mambo Beach. We went Nov 2023 so all very up to date!
