Ma Bass and Mr Bass were great hosts for our stay, no request was too much trouble and we were very thankful for the helpful local information offerred. The guesthouse is very conveniently located, clean, tidy and well equipped. Highly recommended!

For only $40 a night, we stayed with Ma Bass for several days - it was a perfect location in central Roseau and Ma Bass was extremely accommodating (she changed our mattress on request). When we went on the Boiling Lake hike, she woke up at 5:00 am to cook us breakfast! She's extremely knowledgeable of Dominica and got us in touch with a fabulous Boiling Lake guide who took us for half the price of what we were expecting to pay. If you're looking for a safe and cozy place to stay in Roseau, this should be your first choice.

I stayed with Ma Bass one night in Low Season. Hotel was centrally located and very clean. Rooms and amenities were basic but with a homey touch. The elderly Ma Bass herself was very friendly and tried to help out with advice. The rooms are cheap (I paid 45 USD/night) and there is a guest kitchen for the traveller that seeks to further cut his/her costs. There are a lot of stairs and no elevator. Mobility impaired travellers should stay somewhere else

I was extremely dissapointed with the state of my room in the attic. I rarely had a hot shower, my toilet did not flush properly for the duration of my stay, the wardrobe door was broken, the sink was crooked and the water trickled out of the shower and tap. When I complained about all of these issues, I was told someone would fix these issues, Only the toilet was fixed.
My room wasn't thoroughly clean for my stay. I can't recall seeing the cleaner mop or sweeping the floor and my sheets were rarely changed- I had to request for clean sheets.
The kitchen is in dire need of renovating as you can only use the hobbs not the oven. It took 30 mins to make a cup of tea as you have to use the kettle on the hob.
For the money I paid to stay here, I should have spent a few dollars more to stay at a reputable hotel. It did tarnish my holiday but Dominica is alovely place and I will visit again- I just wouldn't stay here.

Unfortunately we can't give a proper review as Ma Bass was not there when we arrived on Sunday evening from the ferry, despite having made a reservation in person, the week before. She was friendly enough then and wrote it all down in the book. The rooms looked OKish but basic. Arriving on a Sunday night in dark deserted Rousseaux when the guesthouse was all locked up, the telephone was not answered and there was no note left, was not a nice experience. Everything was closed. We waited for hours while we ate something and leaving the luggage with the friendly neighbours, but at 9 there was still no one there. We found the Zymes See hotel around the corner, friendly owner, but the room was extremely basic.
I think Ma Bass means well but maybe she is getting a little old for this, other people told us this too. We left a note for her but never heard back. So I would not immediately recommend this place, there are other options in town but if you arrive on a Sunday, definitely book ahead.

Ma Bass' guesthouse in central Roseau is clean, pleasant, with kitchen facilities and the option of a very good breakfast with local fruits. The best thing about it is the owner Ma Bass who is an extremely capable and knowledgeable hostess who offers advice and information to all guests and keep her eye on things making you feel comfortable and welcome, especially good for female guests. Wifi available.

This is a guesthouse in the very center of the town, run by an ageing couple - they care about their customers and are very nice. Very good also for cooking, guest kitchen well equipped, wash service and a helping advice included. Balconies on all floors, Internet cafe just down the road.
I stayed here for more than three weeks and was very satisfied, it is the cleanest place I have stayed on the entire island! Only four stars for Sleep quality b/c its in the very center, so on weekends it might be a bit noisier than in the countryside.

This is a great, simple guest house right in the centre of town, really easy walking distance from the ferry. The rooms are simple but clean and have everything you need. You can prepare your own food if you prefer, or explore the local places - all just on your doorstep. Recommended!

There is a nice atmosphere, be patient with Ma bass. Good location, close super market and restaurants. You can safe some money by cooking on the kitchen. Roseau is a good base to visit the south of Dominica and Roseau valley.
