This is the only hotel in the town La Romana, do not get confused, when we did research about La Romana it looked beautiful. When we came there it was completely different since photos we had seen was from Altos de Chavon. Do not get mistaken by this. I do not know why they have photos at the beach, this hostel is not close to the beach at all. My friend and I stayed here during Spring. I was not very happy with the hotel. We got a very small room with a very small bed. We could barely sleep because the bed was too small, the smell in the room was unbearable (it smelled puke) and the rooms were quite unhygienic. The man who sat in the reception was not very helpful. One man in the reception told us that we could not go outside after 7 o'clock in the evening because it would be too dangerous for us. The other man (a little older) who sat in the reception suddenly said that we could be out for a longer time in the evening. This man (the older one) was not very kind to us, I do not speak very well Spanish and he would not help us to order food. He would sit and listen when I spoke on the phone and then make gestures as if I was stupid, instead of helping us. They do not have lunch or dinner, we had to order dinner to stay inside the hotel to eat, which is ok but when I asked the man in the reception if they had cutlery, he would not bother to look, he simply said no. Incredible. On a nicer note the lady in the reception is very sweet and she was helpful. The lady who does the breakfast and also works in the reception is very nice as well.…
This small hotel was very comfortable and I was given a super big room. Breakfast on the terrace is great but above all I would like to mention the staff that since the reservation phase was extremely helpful, always smiling and available to explain things and give helpful advice.
They cancelled my booking, supposedly for overbooking, and sent me to a disgusting hotel with a broken window. After a long bus journey from punta cana, I just wanted to rest. I had to be moved to a dodgy hotel, which I paid 34 dollars. Never again la Romana and to hotel Simone!! They ruined my day 😭😭😭
Very nice staff, good airco and comfy bedrooms, good location. The breakfast is on the building's terrace which provides some relief from the noise outside. La Romana is just slightly smaller than Santo Domingo, beaches are far, so it's good to use this town as a base for further exploring. The hotel offers tours. If you love long walks, don't try to walk to la Caleta beach, the way there doesn't look too safe.
Cute small intimate property conveniently located near everything is being managed by the owners and they re super accommodating from the first inquiries over the phone and emails until when I got there, they assisted with the airport transfer and local errands, I'm super grateful for their hospitality. Hasta la proxima , Muchas gracias
The stay and the cleanliness was fine all around during my few day stay. The breakfast was well worth in getting as well. The problem became when my own plans to see El Alto de Chavon fell through and I had asked the front desk assistant if there were other places I can buy a package from and she had offered me one that they had. She called it a “Tour” and I had told her I came all this way to see El Alto de Chavon and as a lone traveler female I did not like being by myself in tours. Long story short I arrived and it was not a tour there was no guide I was just given a map. There was miscommunication between the taxi agency who brought me because I had to wait over 1.5 hours to get picked up. I had told this all to the staff and it was not received well in their end they got defensive and I called the manager who said she will get back to me with a solution. She added that if I put in a bad interview they will essentially not help me. I have not gotten my money back or a response for over 2 months going on 3 now. Stay away from their packages they are NOT worth the MONEY and STRESS.…
We stayed here 1 week during a service trip to the DR. It was fine for our purposes. Nothing fancy. The power went out 3 nights during the week, which meant no A/C--that would be my biggest complaint. But for the price, it is a good value. Safe, clean, friendly staff.
We were a little late because traffic and they write to us on WhatsApp. The girl was really nice, give some tips about the town and places to eat. The room was really comfortable, with air condition and a really nice bed. The breakfast was room service, they nock your door in the morning. They have a valet parking for your car. We ask for tea for our breakfast, but I think they forgot that detail because they give us coffee.
This is more of a Bed and Breakfast than a regular hostal/hotel. Nice people with great attentions. We ask for cofee and it was there in our room just like that. Breakfast at your bed, no need to ask for it, just at a convenient time. The place is small but very cozy. Nice decoration and it feels like someone put a lot of attention to details. Very confortable bed. The only downside I saw is that is located at a very busy street so be ready for the noise from transit outside. Other than that it was all great. Highly recommended.
A lovely refreshing find in La Romana, clean, tidy and continuously improving. My 3rd stay in 2 weeks. From the high street you go up the stairs in a lovely open reception area, which has large chairs and sofa's to relax on and take your breakfast and/or coffee..........
