I definitely would recommend this hotel. From PUJ to hotel is about an hour or so give or take on traffic. It was $90 each way and make sure to mention to your taxi or shuttle service the Hilton Garden Inn otherwise they will take you to the all inclusive Hilton which is about 20 minutes away.

The hotel itself is fairly new about few months opened so that was a plus. If you want tranquil, relaxing, and quiet this is the spot. As soon as you walk through the front doors the staff is very welcoming, respectful, and very helpful. Wiley at the desk was amazing for my stay. The restaurant and bar staff wonderful especially Fluery (I hope I spelled it correctly). My room was beautiful with ocean balcony view. I did enjoy the pool, its not heated, but clean, and was maintained each morning that I was there. Pool towels are available for you if needed, and restrooms outside by the pool area. There was some building going on for the 6 days I was there, a concert was for that Saturday night so they were building the stage and stuff, I do wish that I was notified ahead of time so I could have decided to stay or not. Otherwise it was fine you got use to the noise basically. The food was good and they had the buffet for breakfast. There is a cute gift shop area located by the front desk. I did get to speak briefly to the GM upon my departure she was very nice. The owner Edwin was nice seen him a couple of times in the lobby/bar area during my stay, he was preparing for the concert.

Make sure to visit the pier/tower/boat dock area that’s in back of the hotel. It has a mini beach area to swim, as well as take great photos and a shop that makes drinks. You will feel safe at this property with in in house security and the military personnel that is stationed outside back of hotel. It’s simply gorgeous! If you need to get groceries or anything they have the supermarket that is not far away called Jumbo. If you want to book an excursion you can go to front desk and they will assist you!

The con for this property is no ATM, make sure you bring enough cash if you are looking to tip.

We spent two days here before our cruise. The hotel is beautiful, clean, well taken care of. However, the location is pretty isolated and it didn't feel safe to leave to have meals somewhere else. Prices are on the high side, and after the 18% tax amd the mandatory 10% gratuity, they are even higher.

The first night we had dinner a la carte. Food was ok-ish (the chicken in my salad was really dry), but the service was slow and...weird? The appetizers came together with the mains, the dessert showed up after the coffee because they forgot about it . We were one of three tables, so it's not like they were slammed.

The second night the hotel was packed with other cruise goers. They had a small dinner menu and a buffet option. We went for the buffet, but had to ask for drink menues twice and eventually I got up and got them myself. Table never got cleared between courses, either. (Shout out to the gentleman sitting two tables down who shouted "if you don't want to serve me, just say so!") Buffet food was good, but it ended up being U$D 50 per person.

Drinks by the pool took forever to show up; it wasn't much better ordering at the bar...but the bartender lady was quick to shout at one of us when she thought we hadn't paid (we had).

So, come for the views and the pool, but bring snacks.

Enjoyed our stay here very much. The hotel is new and very comfortable. The rooms were spacious and had beautiful bathrooms. There was a small balcony. The only thing I can complain about in the room was the tile needed a better mopping. The shower was fantastic, safes in rooms. Checkin was very nice with dancing and music accompanied by a welcome drink. The pool awesome and the grounds beautiful. It is very close to the cruise port of LaRomana which is why we stayed here. About an hour drive from Punta Cana airport. We arranged a private transfer to and from the area for our cruise. We took a taxi from the hotel to port the morning of the cruise. There is one restaurant in the hotel. Over priced for sure. Breakfast was 23.00 with tax and gratuity for buffet style. I believe dinner was 34.00. Also buffet style. You can also order a few sandwiches etc from the bar. Oh one other downside for safety-the concierge (?) arranging for taxis when we were checking in asked for our room number. We were women traveling alone and I told him I would rather not share that info due to safety and over my head he asked the clerk our room number and he gave it to him! Managers, please rectify that process! I always carry door alarms and an additional lock so we did utilize that but I don’t see why they couldn’t just take down a name for the next morning. You can’t be too cautious these days. Would I stay again, yes. I’ll try to share some photos.

Hotel to anyone looking to stay in la
Romana. As a diamond member who have travel
Many Hilton properties this one is one of the best Hilton Garden Inn in have stayed in.

The rooms were clean, comfortable and the ocean view was amazing.

The staff were friendly and welcoming.

The grounds were clean and well maintained.

The food at the restaurant was tasty and breakfast had many options for both adults and children. Even though the pastries were not fresh. The prices were reasonable at the restaurant and bar.

Overall had a great stay with mu family but I would love that this property had more entertainment options for both children and adults.

We stayed here 2 nights before our cruise. The hotel is new and clean. The staff is friendly. The pool and restaurant have wonderful views of the water. We ate all our meals at the hotel as there is nothing nearby to walk to. The restaurant was not able to handle the dinner crowd on our second night as we waited 2 hours to be served. I am giving the hotel 4 stars as it was everything we needed for the 2 nights before our cruise. I would not want to stay any longer as there is no beach access and nothing to do other than the pool.

Hotel was lovely , pool , reception .
Decent size room with balcony .
In general lovely stay some lovely staff
Paolo , Victor and Willy .
Restaurant ok food ok but was overlooked a few times constantly passed before taking an order . 2nd time I got up and left as waiter didn’t return . Food was still on floor the next morning from evening meal.
Omelette zone ok for breakfast but didn’t want egg everyday , bread got dry and hard out too long .so wasn’t good to toast . I will say I was disappointed that the chef in kitchen 1 of them
a tall Caucasian man who ran his hands through his hair before taking my omelette order how unhygienic ? Why did he not wear a bonnet on his head like the other 2 ???😒
Was disappointed with cleaning service as hall way outside room hadn’t been hoovered for a while papers over the floor for days. and the bathroom surface in my room wasn’t cleaned. Marks left for days..
On a whole a lovely hotel welcoming reception area . Felt safe But some things do need more attention.

We stumbled across this gem when our plane reservations didn't match our hotel accommodations. We had booked our stay at the nearby Hilton La Romana All-inclusive for December 27 but the airfare was much more expensive on that day, so we arrived in the DR on the 26th. We thought about staying at the Marriott by the airport in Punta Cana, but I am a Hilton Diamond member and we wanted to be close-by so we tried this new Hilton Garden Inn. Don't let the shady neighborhood on the way to the hotel fool you; this hotel is a diamond in the rough. We were greeted by a beautiful, spotless lobby. The front desk staff was amazing and recognized our HHilton status and gave us a beautiful ocean-view room on a higher floor. It had a balcony with chairs that made our stay a true joy. The food in the restaurant was limited in choice, but delicious and very reasonably priced. Dining outside was a real treat, and felt like a private resort. The zero-entry pool was wonderful, and we loved the outside showers (with warm water!). Although it is not a resort, you can do all of the excursions and day trips from this location. My son actually suggested we come back and stay here instead of the enormous all-inclusive resort. It really had an intimate feel and was the perfect size. We will definitely be back!

Poor service in restaurant while we waited for our room to be prepared. The restaurant can 15 or so tables inside and about the same outside. only 5 or six tables were in use. It took over 2 hours to get our lunch. my friend got a ribeye. I got shrimp crevchi and fried calamari. 2 appetizers. After a hour we inquired about our food. we were told they were busy. Mind you 2 weeks before we stayed here as well. That trip more than half of the tables were being served. the whole process on the 1st meal was less than an hour.
There were 2-3 tables that filled with evidently visiting Hilton employees. I inquired about my food when a 4 top was seated next to us. it was still an hour later and the calamari was cold, soggy and limp. Service was horrible to us but amazing to the possible Hilton employees at the tables next to us. My friend asked for a steak sauce that comes with the meal(4 choices available) an hour into the wait. She was served a different sauce. We.She was informed that she needed to order her prefence when she ordered her steak. This wad not a language barrier. My friend 1st language is Spanish. IN ADDITION THERE IS A MANDATORY SERVICE CHARGE. So I had to pay a mandatory amount for crappy service.

5 nights stay in this newly opened Hilton property.

Highlights:
Beautiful pool.
Very clean hotel.
Rooms are modern.
My stay was quiet with little to no other guest noise from other rooms or people outside my room.
Location was near the excursions my wife and I wanted to do.
Staff is attentive and offered help when asked.
Checkin and check out was correct and easy.
Morning breakfast was a mix of local breakfast items and typical North American style breakfast buffet items.
Cold fridge in the room
Big bathroom
Beautiful view of ocean from ocean facing room from the 2nd floor room we had.
Recognized my status and gave me a room upgrade and daily food credit for being Hilton Honors Gold.
We were the only people at the pool on a beautiful sunny afternoon day. This is a plus for me.
Entire Staff was incredibly friendly to us our entire stay.
Room A/C worked perfectly the entire stay.

Things to consider before staying here.
Hotel is not in a tourist area yet, its location is in a developing neighborhood. In my opinion.
On call taxi service on site provided by hotel staff. The cost of a taxi from hotel is a bit more than the rate of local taxis.
No stores or convenience stores next to location.
Speaking and understanding at least a few key words in Spanish will help you navigate the hotel and surrounding area of La Romana.
A few staff members spoke English.
Hotel is inside a gated area with 24hr security guards.
My wife and I bought lunch and had a few local beers at the hotel. Food was good, the prices plus tax were reasonable and comparable to an average restaurant visit in the United States. Meal cost around $45 USD with tax.
No beach access, just pool.

Extra Information:
La Romana the city (not the cruise port) is a busy buzzing active community lots with people walking, motorcycles everywhere, a few stay dogs and lots of bodegas.
Supermercado Jumbo is the major grocery store in La Romana.
We went to the Multiplaza La Romana (mall)
One afternoon. It’s a 10 min taxi ride from hotel.
It has a few stores and a store that reminded us of Target in the U.S.

Our Opinion:
This hotel for the reasonable room price met all of our needs and expectations. The pool is beautiful and hotel is extremely clean. The food is great. My guess this hotel will grow in popularity over the next few years.
It’s not a resort or all inclusive but it is a good place to stay in a tropical island in the Caribbean along the ocean.

We chose this Hotel since it was very close to port that our cruise was leaving from. New hotel and a nice place to relax for a few days. Rooms are spacious, beds are very comfortable, large balcony and some very good food at the restaurant. Super nice pool to relax at but no real beach to enjoy. The prices are very reasonable considering that you are ocean front. I would recommend getting a room with ocean view.
