Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana offers a lively ambiance with entertainment that some guests find disrupts relaxation. While the beachfront location and amenities like clean pools and diverse entertainment are highly praised, noise from both the nightly shows and AC units has been a concern for many. Rooms vary from spacious to those needing better upkeep.
Service is generally excellent, though it occasionally falls short. The resort's cleanliness is well-regarded, but housekeeping can be hit-or-miss. Opinions on value are split, with the Preferred Club receiving mixed reviews.

Just got back from a week at the resort Overall, fantastic trip. We have 3 kids 10,14,15 and wanted a resort with lots of activities for them to participate in without needing us to entertain them. The resort activities were beyond our expectations and the entertainment staff were phenomenal. Justin Bieber, rocky Bilbao and baby face stuck out the most, they were so attentive to my kids but they were all fantastic. There were multiple activities for all ages all day everyday. We did the preferred club. At the beginning of the trip the week before Xmas break started) before it got busy we questioned if it was worthwhile but once the resort filled up we were so happy to be in preferred. There were always chairs in the preferred area of the beach and if we didn’t snag chairs in the am, there were usually chairs available at the preferred pool in the afternoon. Our butler Jose Miguel was friendly and always attentive. Rooms were cleaned and towels restocked twice a day and room service always delivered what we ordered on time. The only negative was the feeling that we were always being upsold. We were told at check in all about a welcome breakfast which we were led to believe was a preferred perk but was in fact a 90 min time share sales pitch. No thank you! Some activities on site were extra $ and even the non motorized water sports cost money which was a bit disappointing. But it didn’t impact our enjoyment, just annoying.

Beautiful all inclusive resort part of the Hyatt Group and the latest edition of the Dreams group of resorts in Punta Cana/Dominican Republic. We were there between 30/91/25 and 9/2/25 for a wedding and can honestly say the facilities were fantastic and everything was new and kept to a high standard.
From the rooms to the beautiful landscaped grounds, restaurants of which there were around 7-8 a la carte and one buffet serving a vast variety of cuisine, 4-5 pool areas excluding the preferred parts, lazy river with waterpark and the private beach area.
Everything you need is within easy reach and level of service very good in the main. Room service was occasionally lacking and required several calls to get the food delivered to your room.
The staff in the buffet and a la carte restaurants were excellent and ensured diners were always served with a smile and plates a d cutlery freshly replenished at all times.

I am writing a very honest review. Came here for 11 nights for our honeymoon. There were no original upgrades left thru our travel agent but we managed to get one 2 days into our holiday this was to a swim up room and access to adult only pool and extra restaurants approx £130 per day. The hotel is immaculately clean and the staff are lovely and friendly. The bed is huge and the most comfortable bed Iv ever slept in toiletries are not that I suggest bring your own. We had a tropical storm during our stay and the room did slightly flood all our towels had to be used to soak this up. We had to ask numerous times for clean towels. The food is ok you don’t book in the restaurants it’s a first come first serve basis and you’re given a buzzer bear in mind it only works within a few metre distance. We waited 4 hours one night for a restaurant but the buzzer didn’t work as we were too far away. Buffet restaurant is the same every day and very average. There is branded drinks and cocktails these are mainly frozen and pre made up I would suggest bringing your own metal straws as the paper ones go to mush. Before you co stock up on mosquito spray after bite and a plug in for your room Iv never been bitten so much even with a preventative spray. Females I would also say bring plenty of Tampax if you think you may be due a period it’s £12 for 6 Tampax. There is stray cats around the resort and they come into restaurants so if you’re not a fan stay away. The stray dogs on the beach are really friendly and gentle we have been giving them water and food daily. There was no seaweed when we first arrived but after the storm the beach is covered despite the staffs efforts.

We arrived by private mini bus and were immediately welcomed with a drink, tags for luggage and whisked away on a cart to the preferred check in at the preferred lounge. I was asked to complete the necessary documents and introduced to our butler. Luis was very nice, welcoming and took us to our room. We had booked the additional upgrade of the sea view and were given 1207. It smells of damp but so do all the hotels I’ve stayed in DR, don’t let that out you off coming. In the room was a selection of fruit, a bottle of red wine and a small bottle of rum. Let’s see if this is replenished for the 2nd week!. There are currently plenty of places to eat and so far we’ve never needed a reservation. Most of the staff are lovely but if you want additional attention at the pools you will need to tip. Carmen was our housekeeping assistant and was always bright and very welcoming. We left periodic tips. We tried all restaurants except the French as my son is 16 so not allowed. Be warned of the obligatory entitled Americans who are loud, obnoxious and think that being preferred means you don’t have to file rules. My son was so angered at witnessing this at the teen zone when parents of children demanded that their young children be allowed to use the teen zone, even though there was a perfectly wonderful kids explorer zone 50meters away offering the same, allowing the teens a zone to themselves. And on queue …. While writing this in the preferred lounge despite being here with a light snack and mid afternoon drink, a family rock up and despite several other places to be accommodated make me feel bad for sitting on a sofa and not in a single chair so their family can take up the couch. Is these behaviour that spoil my holidays but this is not on the hotel. The holiday vibe is not as evident here as I’ve experienced elsewhere, however the weather has not been the typical weather here this last week. Lots of rain…. But…. They have rainy day plans so as long as you’re wanting to venture around the hotel and get a bit wet… each room has an umbrella, there is stuff to do, but I come for sunshine!☀️ Anyway I’m not sure at this resort preferred is really worth the upgrade, I’ve used the facilities at the adult only pool and the lounge but only because I had them. If I didn’t there are plenty of chairs at the beach, around the various pools, always somewhere to eat, drink and I bring cards and books so I can entertain myself when the weather lets me down. Let’s see how the next week of my stay goes, but the forecast is not looking hopeful. Ahh well another drink, some ice cream and my book on the balcony, sorted!

I came here because the beaches resorts were sold out and the reviews and pictures showed to be family friendly. I was disappointed to see and smell cigarettes and weed around the pool and beach. There should be a designated area for smokers so that non smokers especially children are not exposed! Additionally we had the preferred club but that additional expense was pointless since staff kept asking for room number every time my family attempted to dine in the so called preferred areas and all our drinks by the pool my wife had to initiate requests by going to the bar. Meanwhile , they went to every other white family unprompted! the butler provided little to no service for us. We had to call house keeping for towels , new robes , the rooms were cleaned mid day or later daily with no sundown cleaning provided! A lot of the staff need hospitality re-training and I hope they will become more inclusive towards all guest regardless of race.
Overall, I’m happy my kid enjoyed the beach ans kid friendly pools anlong with the wide variety of food options available daily that could help picky eaters.

We checked in today. The resort itself seems nice, the taco truck, the activities, the restaurants seem fine for now. We are, however, having major issues with the quality of our room and housekeeping service. To the point of this resort being a 2 star, at most. We are a family of 3 traveling with a teen, staying in a room with a king bed that is supposed to sleep 3-4. The couch in the room doesn’t fold out. It took us 6 hours, 4 calls to housekeeping, and 3 trips to the front desk to get a bed delivered to the room for our son. When it was delivered, we came back from dinner to find that housekeeping just put a single sheet on the mattress, and a thin throw blanket over it. No real blanket, no second sheet to line the nasty throw. We are now back at front desk, asking for this to be remedied. The duvet on our king bed is ripped in multiple places and there is a small blood stain on the sheet. The room is dirty — there are layers of dust in multiple places, like the headboard, the black out shades are off their hindges on one side hanging down. There are no toiletries that you would normally expect in a 5 star or even a 4 star hotel, like q-tips, cotton balls, shower cap, lotion. NOTHING. Our bathroom was stocked with two booty covers (who needs that???), and a shaving kit only. There was no iron, we had to ask for an iron/steamer. There was only one robe, even though we are paying for 3 people. Finally, we had to ask for hangers as there were only 4 in the room. In addition, the bathroom has rusted finishes, the shower floor and walls have the dirties grout I have ever seen in a hotel. I am including pictures for all of this. For the price of almost 1k per day for 3 people this is all outrageous!

Dreams Macao is even better than the pictures you see on-line! The grounds are meticulously cared for, the beach is wide with many tiki huts and you can't beat the aqua blue ocean water! There are numerous restaurants to chose from for dining purposes. This a great family resort as well with 2 different water parks for all ages. We did not purchase a preferred room & didn't feel like we were treated any different than those who did. The biggest disadvantage to not choosing a preferred room is that you do not have a butler who can make reservations for you at the popular restaurants. The nightly entertainment is varied and we did enjoy a few shows, especially the circus! Our room was spacious and the staff very responsive to any request we had. Going in late June, expect the pools to fee like bathtubs, but the ocean was a great place to cool off. There is ample security and we never once felt unsafe. There is ample staff as well, from wait staff who come right to beach chair, to well staffed bars & restaurants. If you are looking for a vacation where you can relax and just enjoy yourself & your family, you will not be disappointed in Dreams Macao

My family and I recently returned from Dreams Macao. We had a great vacation and made lots of memories. The hotel was very well kept and extremely clean on the grounds. We never saw a leaf or any garbage on the ground. The pools were very nice. The entertainmennt crew was great and always had something fun going on. Victor was a lot of fun. My kids enjoyed playing volleyball with him. The meals were very good. My daughter has a peanut and tree nut allergy. We were a little worried going, but Ruth made all of our worries go away! She is the best. She made sure we knew what my daughter could have at each restaurant. She is always sooo happy and helpful! Can't say enough nice things about her. Other restaurant workers that were so helpful and friendly: World Cafe-Ricardo Perez, Maria, and Albelina-Alexandra(hostess), Angel(Italian), Vilaire(Seaside Grill), Stephanie(drink girl on the beach). Marie(watress at the pool). Damary(Pool Bar). Anna was helpful at the beginning of our trip with maintness in our room.
Rocky gave us a great price for an excursion through Sea Pro-located by the beach. We loved our excursion. We went snorkling, swam with sharks and sting rays, and chilled at a sandbar. We wish it was longer than 3 hours!
The only complaints we had was the house keeping. Our room was not cleaned two different days and we had a really hard time get towels and washclothes. We would have to as for towels and wash clothes most days and then we might only receive 2 towels when we asked for 4 towels and 4 wash clothes. We had to make dinner restervations each night because of my daughter's allergy and we were late 2 night because we were waiting for towels to shower.
Overall the resort was wonderful! Beautiful place with friendly staff!

I would highly recommend this hotel for those travelling as a family or with young children. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the staff were attentive to our every need throughout the whole trip. The room was set up ready with a bed for our toddler. The room service staff were so quick to deliver any request for snacks or milk which was extremely helpful. I cannot fault the service and must give a special member to some staff that stood out. A big shout out to Juan, Carlos, Alexandra, Rosie, Papa Chicken and Randy who gave exceptional service throughout our stay. Also to Justin Bieber, Michael Jordan and Francesca who were great entertainers and put a smile on our toddlers face every evening. The entertainment was really good. I especially liked that it was not limited to the evening. There was lots of different shows down at the main pool throughout the week. We stayed during 4th of July weekend and the hotel put on a brilliant show throughout the entire day. The food in most of the restaurants was pretty good, albeit I personally felt some of the desserts were a little lacking in flavour. Overall, I found the selection and quality of all meals to be pretty good. There is lots to do for all the family here. The only warning I would give is that with so much going on it is quite noisy at the hotel. There were times in our room putting our toddler to bed that I could hear the bass of the evening entertainment. Also the main pool can be quite noisy. Something to consider if you are looking for a more quiet trip. The other outstanding factor for this hotel is the incredible blue flag beach. I am not sure if it is because of the Macao cape, but there wasn't much/any seaweed on this part of the beach which made it great to walk along and to swim in the sea, which was crystal clear! Overall a brilliant trip and I wouldn't hesitate to book a holiday using a Dreams resort again!

Dreams Macao exceeded our expectations within the first five minutes. Our check-in took no more than 5 minutes (thank you Indira), and we had a drink in our hand not a minute later.
Travelling with a 2.5 toddler, we were provided with a crib and another bed option in no time, and rooms were always clean (thanks Christina!).
The kid pools were awesome, with two sections that kept our son busy non-stop. Lifeguards were vigilant and the area was always really clean.
The Infiniti pool was a must every morning, with Yolanda always there to take care of us and provide a non-alcoholic drink for the kiddo. Pool towels ran out a few times during the week, as did face towels, but overall it was a minimal issue.
Restaurants: downside is you are limited with children since the French restaurant is 19+, however the rest were tasty! Highly recommend the Le Petit Chef supper offered in the World Cafe, our son loved seeing the little chef prepare his meal. We were concerned that there would be lineups, but toddlers eat early so there was never an issue. One nice aspect is there would be food options all across the resort.
Beach: the waves were big so we didn’t venture in, but the location, beach itself and seats were phenomenal. Security guards were vigilant to make sure no one was harassed, but the flags were red therefore not recommended for swimming.
Rafaelina at the grill during lunches was a bright spot to our son, and the food there was always fresh and such an easy lunch location.
Overall, would happily return to this resort in future years, and consider venturing to other Hyatt resorts.
Other cons: The evening entertainment is VERY loud, even my ear plugs couldn’t drown out the pulsing music that goes on until 10 pm minimum every night. As someone with a toddler who rises early (6 am), some evenings were spent in misery hoping that the music would stop so we could get a full night’s sleep.
Weddings: at times, some passages were blocked due to an oncoming wedding event and therefore did restrict us. Prepare for weddings almost every evening.

The beach closes after sunset. To pinpoint the actual time, I don’t know. But sunset isn’t facing the ocean. But what I do know for sure, once it’s dark, no one is allowed to be on the beach. And there are security guards over there also. Hope this helps.
