The Royalton Punta Cana earns praise for its stunning beachfront location with white sands and clear waters, deemed ideal for relaxation by many guests. While the beach, pools, and Diamond Club are highlights for some travelers, others have noted frustration with service delays, reservation challenges, and upkeep of amenities. Opinions on service are split, with commendation for dedicated staff but grievances about long waits and poor communication.
Questions about value are raised due to unexpected costs and a lack of luxury that some guests anticipated. Room experiences also vary, with certain guests enjoying comfort and modern features, yet many report cleanliness and maintenance issues. The resort's atmosphere is a point of contention, with some finding it overly noisy and the decor outdated, though cleanliness generally receives positive remarks.

Family of 3, 2 parents and a 10 month old baby from UK, staying 20th Nov - 1st December.. Staying at the royalton Punta cana side (not splash). Block 4, ground floor.
Firstly, we read a lot of recent reviews in the couple of weeks leading up to the holiday, and we started to doubt it and was contemplating changing hotel.. however we stuck at it as were pleasantly surprised to find it is much better than most seem to say/think.
Yes there are several things you can pick at when coming to a resort like this.. but your holiday here will be down to what you make of it.
Arrival - 3/5 - While check in was straight forward & quick after a 25 minute journey from the airport.. There wasn’t much of a welcome with no welcome drinks.
Buffet - 4/5 - Great food with a huge variety available for all 3 meals of the day. Staff in here work very hard, service is great and they make every effort to make our baby smile and keep him happy.
Coffee Shop - 5/5 - Great selection of hot & iced coffees, Cakes and small snacks. Staff in here are also extremely friendly and always make an effort to chat and show interest in your day.
Restaurants - 3/5 - The booking system is absolutely shocking for a report like this. we tried using the app which didn’t work several times. Availability is extremely poor, and when we managed to find availability for any restaurants as soon as you could book them (12.01am) every night.. the only availability seemed to be past 9pm which with a baby isn’t ideal. Teppanyaki & Jade were a nice, Mexican we booked twice but got there and the queue took 45 minutes past our reservation time so we left it. Under the sea was nice, but very rushed to get you in/out.
Room Service - 5/5 - No faults with the cleanliness of our room. All the cleaners we saw & spoke to were very friendly and beds / towels were changed most days.
Daytime entertainment - 5/5 - A lot of fun, Shout out to Weenzer who made an effort everyday to talk and also get the activities going. Other vibe team members all great and work hard. Always have a different activities in both pools to cater for all. Pools are cleaned every morning, so no faults here.
Evening Entertainment - 3/5 - Can’t really comment here as we didn’t see much of it due to it being very loud and our baby being asleep. One thing I would say is that with it being so loud, you could still hear all the music from our room (Block 4).. so could be strategically placed as a family further away from the evening entertainment.
Overall rating - 4/5 - We had a lovely stay and as stated, we’re pleased with our experience. It is by no means a 5* hotel, but then again most caribbean 5*s don’t come close to any EU 5* standards.. so maybe lower your expectations when think it will be a luxurious 5* as it is definitely not that. Would recommend coming here as it’s great value for money as an All-Inc. but would we revisit, probably not.
Hopefully this helps those going soon reading more negative reviews than positive.

This was our second time staying at Royalton Punta Cana, and once again, it did not disappoint! We came back with our kids this time, and it was just as magical as the first time. From the pristine beaches to the fantastic amenities, this resort continues to be a top choice for family vacations.
Location: The resort is ideally situated right on a gorgeous stretch of white sand beach, with crystal-clear water that’s perfect for swimming. It's secluded enough to feel peaceful, yet close to all the attractions we wanted to visit.
Accommodation: We stayed in a Swimup family suite with access to private pool, and it was spacious, modern, and very comfortable. The Butler (Daniel) was excellent, keeping everything spotless and even surprising us with a Birthday decor in the room with ballons and HBD sign in the door – the kids loved it!
Kid-Friendly Activities: This is where the resort really shines for families. The kids’ club is phenomenal – The Water park - they were always entertained. The children's pool area is fantastic, with slides, splash pads. There’s a lot of focus on making sure both kids and parents have fun, which is something we really appreciate.
Dining: The resort offers a variety of dining options that cater to all tastes. The buffet has a great selection for breakfast and lunch, with plenty of kid-friendly options like pancakes, pasta, and fresh fruit. For dinner, we enjoyed a couple of Ă la carte restaurants, and the food was delicious. The staff were so accommodating with our kids, making sure they enjoyed every meal.
Service: Once again, the service here is top-notch. Every staff member we interacted with was warm, friendly, and attentive. They go out of their way to make sure you’re comfortable, and the kids’ smiles were a testament to how well they’re treated.
Overall: Our second trip to Royalton Punta Cana was just as wonderful as the first. If you’re looking for a place that offers fun for the whole family, with amazing service, beautiful surroundings, and tons of kid-friendly activities, this resort is the place to be. We’re already planning our next trip and can’t wait to come back again!
Highly recommend for families looking for a stress-free, memorable vacation!

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
Structure of the highest level, modern and well-kept environments, excellent food at the Gourmet Marchè restaurant, lots of fish and meat always available, variety in the themes proposed every evening. For a 15-day stay, delicious grilled lobsters are available on 2 evenings. Excellent cleanliness, in addition to the daily cleaning of the room we found the covers tucked up after dinner. 24 hour room service. Cleanliness and maximum attention also in the restaurant and swimming pools, gardens meticulously cared for. Professional and extremely friendly and helpful staff, including the animators (not at all obsessive). Shows for children and adults every evening, very pleasant, perhaps I would suggest an entertainment program over 15 days instead of 7 days, we saw each show repeated twice. Extraordinary beach, sea always rough as it is an ocean. Contrary to what they tell you, it is very difficult to find a seat in à la carte restaurants if you are not a Diamond customer. At the receptionist's suggestion we tried several evenings to queue outside the Hunter Steak House as early as 5.40pm without being able to get in as Diamond customers and wedding guests had priority. It would be more honest to say that if you don't pay more you are not entitled to it. Luckily there is the big buffet at the Marchè where you always find a place. Excellent structure for families, wonderful experience, we would return if the cost of flight + stay were not so high.

Check in very slow and messy. We were sent in all directions where we had to wait, eventually had to wait 2 hours until we were finally helped and allowed to go to the room. While advertised with quick check in for diamond club. Had diamond club room booked with garden view, got a room on the ground floor with a balcony which could not be locked, on a staff alley. Constant staff walked by so, and was very noisy. This while it is advertised that the diamond club rooms would have the most beautiful locations. I mentioned this anyway and got another room. The “free” amenities you would get we didn’t see any of it, were no snacks or fruit in the room, no beach bag with slippers, no luxury bath stuff.
Biggest disappointment of all was the beach. It's a beautiful beach with nice palm trees and beautiful sea, unfortunately you don't see any of it at all except when you walk to the coast. The sunbeds are located on an extremely narrow beach, which is not a big deal. But the hotel has chosen to place a whole row of Bali beds, cabanas. Which makes your view the back of a cabana. Because of this you also have to walk all the way around to get to the sea, really absurd. There is 1 buffet restaurant for breakfast lunch and dinner, which is a chaos especially at lunchtime. It is the only place where you can have lunch, besides the nachos or chicken wings you can get on the beach. There would be a nice restaurant by the beach for lunch, they keep it closed to save costs. There is hardly any cutlery to be had, you don't get a drink or are only brought when you're done, no soup bowls with the soup, and if you've already found a soup bowl there's nowhere to be found. In the absence of plates, disposal trays were put down. This also indicated to TUI where the reaction of the hotel is that it would not be correct. Furthermore, the food is really downright disgusting. Too much salt is thrown in everything, which is funny because there is no other salt available for example on your egg in the morning. Towels on the beach arrive too late. If you're an early bird, you can count on not getting a beach towel until around 9:30. You are constantly pelted with questions, from an annoying salesman of time sharing concept to reception who call to the room or sell excursions. They want to make extra money from you on all sides. Bali bed you can rent for 100$, or expensive wines in the restaurants etc. Show room is also not fun at all in the evening, it is an indoor cinema room. Not what you're traveling to the Caribbean for. Butler service on beach is poor, not once drink brought. No more cocktails at 3:30, they had already emptied the ice machines. On our last night there was a wedding, which is fine in itself. But the hotel guests could not have a drink on the terrace after dinner. You could only sit somewhere covered weather, or in the wind on the beach. Bad business. What is also very unfortunate is that there is never even nice Dominican music on it, everywhere you hear the same American music. All in all for us the last time Royalton!

I've been to Royalton Bluewater (Montego Bay) and now Royalton Punta Cana and the differences are glaring. We showed up to Royalton Punta Cana July 2024 and there were renovations happening in the lobby and certain parts of the diamond club area (not a deal breaker but just a heads up).
First off, the app is terrible. You're told to use the Royalton App to book your restaurant reservations but the app doesn't work. When I stayed at the Royalton Bluewater, our butler made all of our reservations and ensured we all sat together at the same time (10 people). Fast forward to Royalton Punta Cana, the wait to get into restaurants was 10-15 minutes even with reservations and we couldn't all sit together (Again 10 people) even though there were large tables available throughout our entire dinner.
If you are going as a diamond club guest, do yourself a favor and skip the diamond club breakfast area. We went two times and they were both terrible. The first time we were told we had to eat and leave in 40 mins which wasn't a big deal since we were eager to go to the beach and pool however, after taking our order, we waited almost 1 and a half hours without our food being brought to us. We ended up grabbing some croissants for the kids and left. The second time we went to the diamond club breakfast area, i ordered a eggs benedict but ended up getting a hard boiled egg on toast. Our butler was OK. We communicated through WhatsApp and he was responsive. We didn't utilize him too often.
The beach and pool were well kept. The beaches were clear of seaweed but be careful of the tide. The 2 pools available were well kept as well. The servers brought you drinks poolside and took back empty cups quite often to avoid clutter.
To summarize, i'd suggest to spend a bit more money and go to Royalton Bluewater in Montego Bay Jamaica. All the rooms are ocean view and the service was outstanding. When staying at Punta Cana, SOME of the bartenders seemed as if you were an inconvenience to them. Others were very helpful and made you feel welcome. The food was good for what you would expect at an all inclusive. This place wasn't terrible but it definitely requires some improvement in terms of hospitality.

We are returning home today. If you have plans to come to the resort any time soon, the steak house, the sports bar, the swimup bar and the martini bar are all CLOSED. They are closed for renovations and I can’t get an answer from the staff about a reopening date. Had we known, we would not have booked this resort. We stayed in the adults only section with diamond club package. The “butler” that is included is just a concierge. He walked us to our room when we arrived and asked where we would like to have dinner reservations. Our first night we were unable to get any reservations so we went to the buffet. We have not seen our butler since he walked us to our room. The grounds of the resort are very well maintained and housekeeping did an excellent job. The restaurants that are open are decent but nothing special. We both had stomach issues after eating at Bella Cucina last night. The beach area of the resort is very good. We walked along the beach and found that the Royalton Punta Cana definitely has the cleanest beach. The other resorts in the area are having a huge problem with Sargassum / seaweed in the water and the beach. Pools appear to be clean but we didn’t spend much time there because the swim up bar is closed. We were told that “reserving” chairs is not allowed but no one enforces that. We saw people every morning putting towels and a personal item on chairs and then leaving. Drinks are average for an all inclusive. Drink service on the beach is hit and miss. We would tip after our first round but would not see the waitress again for hours. The language barrier with the wait staff and the restaurants was a huge problem as well. The staff spoke very little English if any at all. Asking questions about the menu or other options was painful. Getting bottled water instead of the tap water was impossible. I had to leave the restaurant and go back to our room for bottled water. We started bring bottles of water from our room to the restaurants to avoid drinking the tap water. I would say that the resort may have potential, but right now it sucks with all of the closures. If you have plans to come here any time soon, I would reschedule or change resorts because you will not be getting all you paid for.

Our first ever trip to the Caribbean and in an all-inclusive resort. Maybe our expectations were too high. Resort was pretty but overall we found it lacking and not worth the money we spent. We went Diamond Club.
Staff were 50/50 - either brilliant or really didn't care (also had a couple beg for tips which was a bit awkward as we were tipping anyway and made it just feel a bit forced).
Food was pretty bad. We never got sick from the food but it just wasn't very good and usually overcooked (I guess you have to expect that?) The buffet was ok - breakfast was good there. We enjoyed the seafood restaurant on the Splash side (staff were brilliant there). Zen was fun. Steakhouse was awful. We had to wait 2 hours for food, then when it did arrive it was so overcooked we couldn't eat it. Our table (and several others) left to eat at the buffet. When we complained to management the next day they told us their time was "too precious" to be dealing with that. Nice.
Our fridge was never refilled. On asking our butler, he brought us a case of water but the fridge itself never got refilled despite leaving notes and money for housekeeping. Dinner reservations were such drama! Butler made a big fuss about getting us into restaurants and how hard it was, then we'd show up and it would be less than half full. Butler was good overall and always checked in with us.
Room was nice enough and kept clean. The shower leaked everywhere which meant it was always wet in the bathroom. The bathroom door was broken but they came and fixed straight away.
Entertainment - shows were good but be careful in the theatre - many seats are broken, several were in pieces and we ended up on the floor a couple of times when we sat down. On the balcony most seats were broken and it was full of boxes. We had two teenagers with us and were looking forward to the teen hangout with its pool table and games etc - nope, didn't exist. It was an empty room. There really is nothing for kids their age to do apart from swim so they were bored. The beach was lovely.
It rained heavily every day we were there. I guess that's to be expected as it's the Caribbean in winter, but outside our room (ground floor, block 6) turned into a bad smelling swamp every day which was pretty unpleasant.
So overall, I definitely wouldn't be back to a Royalton Resort if this is what 5 star luxury and fine dining is! I can spend my money on far superior experiences elsewhere.

First off going here solo is so uncomfortable, anytime you go to a restaurant or get a drink they look at you like you have 4 heads if you're one person and confirm over and over just one, not 2. I am not sure what this is about.
My friend and I had booked this hotel; she cancelled last minute and I decided to go solo. Getting dropped off at the hotel I went to stand at the front desk in line, people rudely cut and the staff says nothing. Finally when I got up to the desk I was told I had to check in at the Diamond Club directly behind the check-in desk. (There was no posted signs for this).
When I checked in not much was said except for don't lose your room key (which is an arm band) or you will have to pay $150 USD. Then a butler came to get me and take me to my room. I asked about the dinner locations as he was giving me a tour on the way to the room. He informed me that I can eat dinner wherever just go up and ask, he said it's really easy to fit in one person.
When I got to the room there was a bottle of bubbly, red wine, stocked fridge and a basket of fruit which was a nice touch. The room was clean and a good size. I had been traveling all day so I decided to take a shower and then head over to the splash resort and wait for the Mexican place to open at 6 pm.
I was 2nd in line when the Mexican place opened; they asked if I had reservations, I stated no. The hostess then informed me that I can not eat at any of the restaurants except for the buffets without reservations!! She turned me away. I tried to message the butler through what's app and he kept telling me to just go to the restaurant, I kept explaining they will not take me without a reservation. I was at this point begging for a reservation. That night I ate some lunch meat from the Diamond club for dinner and went home to look at flights out of there. I did not want to go on a vacation at the Golden Corral Buffet extravaganza.
The next afternoon the butler informed me that he was able to get me a 6 pm reservation for dinner that night. I spent the day at the pool and beach; the atmosphere was loud music, DJ, volleyball, etc. I showered and walked over to the restaurant... had to wait in line. There was a group of 8 in front of me; the same hostess asked them if they had a reservation, they stated no. She seemed annoyed but ended up sitting them at a table without a reservation!
I checked the website and it clearly does state reservation free dining. The only thing I can think is they really do not like a solo traveler here and want to make it the most uncomfortable situation for you as possible. I would never come back here.
Overall, I found the experience to be uncomfortable and not in line with the welcoming atmosphere I expected. As a frequent solo traveler, this was one of the most awkward experiences I've had. I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future solo guests.

Spent Christmas week 2024 here as part of a group of ten and the experience overall was mediocre and often felt a bit like we had joined some sort of scam.
First, the positives: - The people you interact with the most are exceptionally friendly. Bartenders, servers, cleaners were all wonderful. The higher up the chain you go, however, the more unpleasant the attitudes become (think managers, guest services, etc.) - The resort was very clean and well kept - The wifi was great and reaches the beach - Of the restaurants we were actually able to get into (after buying wine - see below), the teppanyaki one is very good
The negatives: - The Diamond Club is a scam. We met our butler on day one then never saw him again, except when he told us he can't actually do the things the Club promotes (restaurant reservations, customizing the mini fridge, unpacking luggage, etc). The lounges are in inconvenient locations, mini fridges were not restocked even once, the private area on the beach isn't private at all, etc. Save your money and bring a beach bag from home. - All restaurant reservations are pushed to the app, and it was rare to see anything available before 9pm. There was nothing for groups of more than 5. - If you want a reservation in prime time or for a large group, the unwritten rule we discovered was you must purchase a bottle of wine for more than $60 USD - The food somehow all tastes the same, and many items on the buffet were leftovers from the restaurants, often from 3-4 days prior - Trying to book extras (cabanas, spa services) is difficult, but getting incorrect charges removed is impossible. It's important to note that management will not help with these issues without a fight - so pay close attention to your ledger and bring up issues as early as possible. - "Guest Services" is just a function to push people into the Prime Travel Club presentations. If you need a blanket or something with your room, good luck - the direct line on the phone was never answered over the course of 10+ attempts to call across several days. We found the best method was asking random room attendants in the hallways for these things.
All told we felt like every request we had was ignored, from little things like room service that never appeared to major things like being charged multiple times for the same beach cabana. The requests that were acknowledged (such as ordering food from the sports bar or drinks from the server on the beach) often took an hour or more to be fulfilled, if they were fulfilled at all.
I highly recommend you examine other options in the area (most locals said the Dreams resort was the best option), or at least set your expectations appropriately for this resort.

We are a party of three just returning from the Royalton Punta Cana. We were part of the diamond club, a waste of money! The girl that greeted us sent us to the wrong check in resulting in us not getting registered for almost 2 hours! We asked for ground floor due to mobility issues and we got second floor. This room got changed the next day. We seemed to be constantly asking for things that should have been there..no hairdryer, no facecloths, no extra chair for the patio, and no beach bag as indicated. The coffee machine was totally useless . The private breakfast area was only open the last 2 days we were there. The beach area was fine there was a towel person there to set up your chair area on the beach. The problem with the beach area were the cabanas along the shoreline blocking the view. Poor placement. The diamond club beach bar was lovely ,the washrooms always clean. The snack food also good. The beer however was not very cold and I needed ice to make it cold. This is not an all inclusive resort. If you wanted a corona beer or a miller beer that would be$5. Not happening! As part of the diamond club we could have access to the diamond club lounge. The lounge was nowhere near the diamond club area..so if you are on the beach you are not going to walk to the other end of the resort for a snack especially if you are wet and sandy. Poor placement. We had the sun wing app. on our phone but didn’t work that well. The sun wing rep. was no were to be found . The sun wing rep. on the bus was wonderful. The resort is very beautiful, grounds are lovely, rooms are clean just some general maintenance needed( leaking shower, tiles in the lazy river need some attention) buffet area clean with happy staff. I feel the staff need to better understand the English language so that they can be more helpful to the guests. I think all the negatives stand out so much because all 3 of us got sick and not just for one day but for many. We couldn’t wait to leave. So will we return to this resort not a chance!

I would contact the hotel directly giving them all the relevant details. When we were there the staff couldn’t have been more helpful if they tried and so friendly. Hope this helps!
