I stayed at the sister resort Gem next door but ate at the restaurant twice during my stay because Chef Sheldon was that great. He could be at any 5 Star restaurant. He made us special dishes to suit our vegetarian diet and his flavors...More

Second time to this hotel - we booked it again because of the wonderful location. It was quite new when we last went 6 years ago and is really quite tired now in some ways, specifically
- None of the drawers in the rooms would...More
We stayed at Kalinago Beach for a couple of nights on our island hopping tour in the Caribbean. The hotel met our expectations well, nice staff and a spacious room with sea view. The only negative thing was the somewhat inexperienced serving staff at breakfast....More
We spent 5 days at this hotel after visiting the great Trinidad Carnival. We chose this hotel because of the many positive reviews on Trip Advisor. Check-in was efficient and welcoming by Shireena. She represents the Kalinago Resort well. The hotel is in a good...More

The taxis are RIDICULOUS. It's $10-$14 USD each way to the market. Since it's about a mile each way (and up an incredibly steep hill) there's no way to walk it. I did find out there's a "bus" that might come to the hotel or meet you at the top of the hill if you can get the schedule. But it's all very unorganized so you should try to track it down before you get there.
The market also has a couple decent restaurants there including a really good Chinese one (generic but tasty). My recommendation is the island food just on the other side of the supermarket (can't recall the name). You go in and order a main dish along with a couple of sides for $6-$8 plus they have really good fresh made smoothies. I loved their fish.
