There is no mention of this place in the Good Pub Guide and they are obviously missing a trick. A well stocked bar and a simple menu serving well cooked food which was surprising for the down to earth appearance of the place. Excellent steak, superb lamb all made for a very good midweek lunch. The one slightly downside is...

We live locally, and I had a chance to go out for lunch - it just happened to be Mothering Sunday. We were so lucky to be fitted in, actually fully booked - but we were just two and we were an early lunch. We started with the most excellent succulent smoked salmon and delicate dill oil, followed by a...

Came here for a birthday meal while staying for a long weekend for a birthday up the road. We stumbled across this by chance after a long drive and went in for drink and somewhere to meet our friends, we soon loved it, Typical welsh pub with big fire and locals chit chat and people happily chatting away. To my...

Following good recommendations locally we booked into the restaurant for a Sunday evening with a couple of friends - to give it credit many other restaurants were closed . On arrival we were told that the restaurant was closed and we had a table in the pub. The food was generally good - starter of shredded pork hock was different...

The hotel has been refurbished in the last few years, and we stayed in one of the modern rooms, which has been refurbished to a very...

A winter's day, an open fire, a friendly landlord, a good menu and some decent beers at the bar - RESULT!! We had travelled the wonderful road from Beulah in Powys over the Cambrian Hills and down into Tregaron. I love this drive and now I know that Y Talbot is a good place, I shall return. The Y Talbot...

Just been here for lunch, lovely setting with incredible food. Wasn't too busy, we had a table for 8, nice little snug with an old big fire place. We had a selection of food from across the menu, everything was amazing with good sized portions. No body had a bad word to say 😊

2 night stay. DBB £135 for 2 people . Highly recommended. Excellent warm friendly authentic Welsh welcome from Sion. Atmosphere in traditional old fashioned pub with roaring log fire was amazing. Menu was served in either bar or modern restaurant. Food was very tasty. Portions were generous. Steak, fish cakes and fish dishes (as was breakfast ) were excellent. We...
