We stayed via a living social voucher and paid for an upgrade to a superior room for a two night stay. We arrived and were greeted by an ashtray full of cigarette ends outside the side entrance, the foyer looked unkempt, untidy and overfull of furniture, someone had made an effort and placed a bouquet of fresh flowers on a... My Husband and I stayed here on Valentines Day. The journey there was fine until you join the single track country lane with 12 foot high hedges on either side, in the dark! Not for the faint-hearted as traffic can also come from the other direction. So you may be lucky enough to not have a head on collision but... More

IF you wish to step back in time, not be completley fussed over by the staff, breathe in wonderful country air & experience the silence of the country side (except for the sound of animals) this is the place for you. Very disappointed with the food as the soup was insipid and the chicken tasteless. Advertising 'fresh country produce' (veg)... More

We stayed at the Hawk & Buckle at the end of January 2013. After reading some of the reviews we arrived expecting the worst. We needn't have worried. The Inn IS pretty isolated but that's what we expected and wanted. Nothing could be nicer than looking out of your bedroom window to see cows eating in a byre a few... More

Upon arrival, after a terrible journey along single track roads we pulled into the car park. We were greeted by dead flowers in plant pots and towels hanging on the washing line in the rain. First impressions were not good. We thought it couldn't be that bad, so went to check in. There was no one in sight, and it... More

If such an event had actually occurred, one would expect the injured parties to seek legal advice. Not much else needs to be said on the matter. More

After a very long muddy walk on New Years Day my husband and I, our two children and our dog, arrived at the pub to find it shut. We knocked on the window and were greeted by the most charming landlady who welcomed us in with kind words, who said she wouldn't turn us away as there was nowhere else... More

We went on a Living Social voucher and paid for an extra night and also upgraded our room as it was a special occasion, my partners 60th birthday. Our experience was very different from other reviewers, we had a lovely time. The staff were curtious and helpful, the room was clean and spacious ( Room 10 ). We thought the... More

My partner and I booked this hotel via a GoGroopie deal for 2 nights B&B, with dinner included on the first night. Unfortunately we had to upgrade the room as the room for the voucher had since become unavailable - no great problem as the reviews seemed to suggest it would be worth it. We looked at the website, read... More

We booked our 2 night stay on a voucher offer and based on the price we paid, our stay was average quality and value. There are 2 main good points about this Inn, the main ones being the excellent, home made, hearty food and the charming owners (and that's why it's hard to say anything bad about the place!! )....
