Our first visit to RP was April 2024. We loved it so much that we rebooked for October 2024 and then again for May 2025. We will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary in May and cannot think of a better place to spend our special milestone.
Our favorite room - #304- Fantastic view!! The room is well appointed. Lots of space. Very comfy bed. Perfectly stocked bar. It checks all the boxes!!
Room service- Great menu (try the breakfast burrito-amazing) Always on time.
Butlers- Anthony and Robert- All I can say is I think we scored a home run. Although I am sure all of the butlers are great we are partial to our favorite guys!!! They know exactly what we want even before we know what we want! We are pretty low key but the few requests we had we addressed immediately. They feel like family and make sure we want for absolutely nothing!!!!
Omar the General Manager- Amazing!!! Knows everyone by name (How he remembers I have no idea-but he does) Great sense of humor. Always smiling. Always available to address any concerns or issues. However, we never had one issue. He makes sure everything is perfection.
Wobbly Peacock- The drinks are great. The bartenders even better. Javain Garnett and Junior always make sure your glass is full and that there is a smile on your face.
Beach butlers- Seriously Trevardo and Daniello work so hard. They are quick with a joke and quick with the service. In spite of the fact they walk back and forth from the beach to the bar in the heat they are always smiling and happy.
Food- Amazing. Every restaurant, every entree was fantastic. The servers are so pleasant and knowledgeable. The tea time was especially fun. There are plenty of choices for everyone and all of the selections were delicious.
Cleanliness- Our housekeeper (I forgot her name sadly) but she attends to room 304 and 303. She goes above and beyond. Our room is kept spotless. And restocks everything as needed. She is wonderful and I wish I could take her home.
All in all there is no other place like this one. My husband and I have a goal to take two vacations a year. We looked at trying out another sandals property (I won't mention the name) but as we do constant comparisons we cannot find one that compares to RP. So it looks like we will be spending time at our home away from home at least twice a year. (I wish I could just stay forever).

My husband and I just returned from our first stay at Sandals Royal Plantation. It was truly magical. It is a boutique resort that has colonial style with beautiful mahogany furniture, gorgeous artwork and white walls. But the resort also shows off the best of modern, free Jamaica with an open breezy feel, food and entertainment that celebrate the unique modern culture and people. The landscaping, beaches, pools, restaurants and facilities are pristine and the views are breathtaking. The Papillon restaurant is elegant and evocative of Paris. But as everyone says, it is the outstanding staff and customer experience that sets the Royal Plantation apart from any resort or hotel we have stayed in around the world. All the staff remember your name and food/drink preferences. The General Manager Omar is excellent. He makes a point of getting to know each guest. We loved our Royal Monarch room and found the facilities to be perfect. Many days there is a local craft vendor near the grill. They stay there for you to visit if you wish but there is no pressure and there are no vendors accosting you on the beach. I love that the resort supports local artisans. I purchased a lovely bowl (see photo) the artist made from Blue Mahoe wood, the state tree of Jamaica. There are so many wonderful staff to recognize and I’ll try to remember them all because they deserve it! Our amazing room butlers Chase and Neil, wonderful beach butlers Trevardo, Daniello, JLee and Romane, Simone in Loyalty who is so above and beyond friendly, helpful and professional, the great servers at the Terrace and Grill Vanya, Tania, Deaundray, Jamey, Stephnie and Tyrone, our sweet and meticulous housekeeper Estina, Peter from room service who brought me coffee at 6 am, Lorna in the shop who was very helpful, evening bar server Tresell, amazing entertainers Nataki, Brenden and Alex, also the pianist in the bar who’s name I dont know, managers Rashane and Marvin, the staff at the fitness center who’s name I forgot, Trecia the spa manger who helped my husband get the right massage that cured his back pain from the flight. To top it off they brought my jacket left behind to the Ian Fleming airport. We rebooked for next January but I don’t think I can wait that long to return.

We stayed one week at Sandals Royal Plantation along with two other couple (best friends). Our overall goal was to enjoy each other company, soak up some sunshine and water and take advantage of other nearby Sandals as well as activities like boats, golf, dolphins and diving. The accommodations were very nice - we had a small suite with well appointed bathroom, walk in shower and large soaker tub with jets. We had a small stocked bar catering to our tastes and full butler service which even included our own cell phone with speed dial to our butlers.. This particular resort was smaller at about 75 rooms total which suited our preference to stay away from crowds. The food was good to great! The drinks were well made and always available no matter where you were (beach, room, patio, etc.). Our butlers were always very reachable and catered to most anything we needed (even items not on the list). Special shout out to Bebeato and Marvin! Out butlers coordinated events with our friends butlers for things like special dinners, cruises and other events.
Tips: Like most beaches and pools you need to get there early to snag chairs in the shade. If you think of something you have a craving for just ask. As an example I wanted nachos but they were not on the menu - no problem they made them! I had a craving for potato chip - they made us homemade chips! Pay attention to shuttle departure and return times when planning to go beyond your hotel. We splurged on the VIP service which got us through customs in a few minutes instead of hours. It also got us great food, drinks and accommodations when waiting at the airport for our return flights. Worth every penny.

Every facet of our stay was a delight from beginning to end. The hotel has beautiful views and easy access to a glorious beach. Our room was comfortable and stylishly furnished, with plenty of room to put away clothes and to relax. The food in the various restaurants was delicious and plentiful, plus there was the opportunity to try different styles of food in the restaurants on the sister site of Sandals Ochi, accessible via a shuttle bus. The entertainment on some nights was exceptional. But above all it was the staff that made our stay what it was. They were beyond helpful, always ready with a friendly greeting or to chat. After our first introduction, the general manager, Omar, always greeted us by name and asked how we were doing. Our rooms were always impeccably cleaned during the day and the beds turned down at night (thank you Marysa and Monique). The restaurant and bar staff were always ready with a smile to show us to our table or to serve us with a drink (thanks in particular to Trevarno and Tressell). Drinks would sometimes even arrive unbidden, just as a thirst was arising! But it was above all to our butlers, Safiya and Orayne, that we were most grateful. They were always there for us from start to finish, whether it was booking restaurants for us and even escorting us to our seats, or bringing afternoon snacks, or keeping the fridge stocked, or turning up just at the right time with a pizza or some other tasty snack. But they both went the extra mile to help us when my wife’s phone got water inside, with Safiya helping to get some rice to dry it out and Orayne finding a wireless charger for us when the charging port was blocked. Together you helped make our stay one of the holidays of a lifetime.

One of the best holidays we have ever had if not the best. The Royal plantation is a little gem. Firstly the bad points, I had read the buildings are a little jaded and to be fair this is true, a lot of the paintwork needs to be redone and you could say the rooms are a little tired but this is an old building and its age is part of its charm, we were aware of some problems but the maintenance staff dealt with these very quickly. The spa is very overpriced and for that reason we didn't use it, I've always found Sandals spas to be reasonably priced and very busy but because of the pricing this one was quite quiet, not really sure why they have felt the need to price it so high. Yes the arrivals part of the airport is a nightmare but this isn't the fault of the resort, this is just how the airport arrivals is and there's nothing Sandals can do about that, at least once you're through the mayhem of arriving there is a Sandals lounge where you can cool off with a drink and a snack before you head for your hotel. One very small complaint, breakfast is advertised to start at 0700 hrs but most mornings the egg chef wasn't ready until 0710, if advertised at that time then it should be available at that time. As for bad points that's pretty much it for us, the hotel is beautiful, it's small and quiet with 2 beaches, the east beach could do with a few more shaded areas, the service on the beaches was excellent for drinks and food. The food in the hotel was outstanding we didn't have a single meal we didn't like and the variety was excellent for such a small hotel. You can as part of your package use the nearby Sandals Ochi which is much bigger and has 16 restaurants, our experiences there were mixed with the Japanese restaurant being the pick of the bunch but we mainly used the restaurants at the Royal. The biggest strength of the Royal is the staff, every single one of them from the cleaners to the management are the most friendly, professional staff I have ever encountered in a hotel, nothing is too much trouble and is dealt with with a smile on their faces, each one ensures they greet you cheerily every time they see you and overall they make you feel like they are an old friend, they are truly a credit to the company. Evening entertainment is quite limited but entertaining, after a few drinks you can enjoy it, this is after all a quiet holiday location, if you want something more lively you can head over on the free bus to Ochi 2 minutes down the road. Overall, we loved this place and would return in a heartbeat and if the staff read this review then we pass on our thanks for such a fantastic holiday at a place that made us feel like part of the family

An absolutely wonderful stay at this small hotel. The service was outstanding, especially our butlers Keanio and Delgardo, and the brilliant general manager Omar, who really does know your name as you walk in the door. The butlers will bring you lunches to the beach, and will arrange anything you need for your room. I was wondering how we would feel about not having a balcony, but the rooms are lovely and spacious, and when we opened the sliding doors, letting the Caribbean in, we did not miss one. Great facilities in the room, a stocked fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, and ice and snack supplied every day by the butlers. Room service was included, and very efficient. The room was kept spotlessly clean, and it was always a pleasure to see the smiling Marlyn from housekeeping. As a Brit, I find tipping stressful. However, only the butlers are allowed to take tips, which we gave them at the end of our holiday, so this made things much easier than other resorts we have been to. The entertainment is low key, but you have the option of going to the neighbouring hotels, Ochi and Dunn's River, where there is more on, and the transport is frequent. The butlers will also book restaurants at these hotels, so you don't need to eat the same place twice, although the three restaurants at the Royal Plantation at excellent, so you may be happy just to eat there. My other concern was that as I'd read there were so many returning guests, we would feel less well cared for than the regulars. We never felt like this at all. Omar and his team treat everyone to equally high standards of service, young or old, regulars or first timers. Our overall feeling was that this hotel offered exceptional value for money. Book early, as I think the new management will make it even more popular than it was previously.

We stayed at Sandals Royal Plantation last week for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. It is a smaller more intimate 74 room all-inclusive resort where all guests have butler service. The resort is very well maintained and has a relaxed atmosphere. We have stayed at every Sandals and Beaches property except for 3, and would certainly recommend this property. This specific Sandals is an older property with colonial charm, and Omar (the GM) & Marvin (Director of Guest Services) do an excellent job capturing the original vision of Butch Stewart.
For dining options there is a French restaurant, a terrace grill, a beach grill, and a British pub in addition to room service. You also have access to the restaurants at Sandals Ochi and Sandals Dunn’s River. Shout out to Chevon (spelling) the server in the French restaurant who has great charisma and loves his job.
There are two beach areas with beach service, and a smaller sized pool in the middle of the property. If a larger pool is your preference, you have the ability to go over to Sandals Ochi via shuttle bus and use their facilities for the day. The beach areas at Royal Plantation are well maintained with soft sand and did not notice any seaweed.
We did schedule a spa treatment at Red Lane spa which was outstanding. There was some entertainment at night for guests, and the pub is open until later. The shuttle buses between resorts run until about midnight if you wanted to spend an evening at one of them (check out the speakeasy at Ochi).
Overall we really enjoyed this resort and it was a perfect way to unwind & start off our vacation. We will definitely be back in the future and look forward to another great experience at Sandals Royal Plantation.

My wife and I have visited Sandals Royal Plantation numerous times and we have had a couple of hurricane & tropical storm "scares" that luckily never amounted to anything. The year our luck finally ran out. We were there from July 1st to July 11th during which Jamaica was hit by hurricane Beryl. We have always loved the Royal Plantation and our vacations there have always been great. We, like many of the guests who frequent SRP, think of the resort as our home away from home. The staff at the resort has always managed to impress us with their attention to detail and great service. This year they actually topped our already lofty expectations. Their preparation for Hurricane Beryl was outstanding. Led by the resort's new General Manager, Omar Robinson, the management team kept the guest fully informed of their plans for the arrival and the aftermath of the hurricane. Due in large part to the timely communication from the Sandals team, while we were a little apprehensive about the effect of the hurricane, we were never fearful. Before the hurricane arrived, many of the guests chipped in to help store furniture indoors. The night of the hurricane, Omar, the managers and other members of the staff delivered surf & turf dinners to the guests' rooms. The morning after the hurricane many of the guests helped return the furniture to its normal place. The cleanup went smoothly, and the Royal Plantation was back to normal 24-hours after the hurricane moved away from the island. We were fortunate to be in Ocho Rios, on the North side of the island, and did not get hit by the full force of Beryl. While much of the island was without power, we were not. The resort's generator seamlessly kicked in. All we lost was cable tv and internet for a relatively short period of time. Pretty darn good for making it through a hurricane. Omar, his managers, and all of the staff at the Royal Plantation should be commended for their preparation and response to Hurricane Beryl. It was truly outstanding. In spite of the hurricane, we once again had a great time.

We stayed at Sandals Royal Plantation January 20 – 28, 2023. This was our 7th stay at this resort and our first since 2019 due to 4 cancellations/failed attempts during the pandemic. We were so happy to be back and were very pleased with our stay. Our last 2 stays at a different Sandals resort were disappointing and we assumed the brand had gone downhill, but Royal Plantation has restored our faith in the brand.
We stayed in the Royal Monarch room, with a beautiful view of the ocean and beach. While in need of updating, everything was fully functional and clean. The room was always well-stocked with towels and bathroom amenities and our fridge restocked every day. The water pressure in the shower was very much improved since our previous stay.
Unlike another Sandals that we have visited recently, we experienced wonderful service and the grounds were immaculately maintained. The staff here take pride in the upkeep and we observed them cleaning all areas throughout the day. In addition to taking exceptional care of the guests, we were always greeted with friendly smiles and conversation each time we passed a staff member.
The service and food were great at all the restaurants. Attention to detail is still a priority here, with attentive servers and the tables decorated elegantly. The food was always good, with variety each night. The only disappointment in the dining is that the Jamaica night and Italian night at the Terrace are now very scaled back with limited menu selections, rather than the large variety that was once available. And there is no longer a buffet option for lunch, which limits light and quick options.
The beach and pool areas were kept very clean, with plenty of seating available throughout the day. The watersports staff were friendly and fun. The only negative we experienced was the lack of umbrellas at the pool. Only 3 there now when there were previously 6 or more. We asked several times for an umbrella on the lower pool deck and never received one. We finally gave up and found shade elsewhere in the middle of the day when the sun was most harsh. Sandals needs to be mindful of the harsh effects of the sun for those guests who wish to protect their health.
Overall, we loved our stay here and our faith in the Sandals brand has been restored. We booked our next three returns here before we left, which speaks for itself. Highly recommend this small, quiet, and elegant gem in the Sandals collection.

We came to RP last year and had booked onsite to come back. We were worried that a second visit might not be as good as the first, but we didn’t need to worry.
The room was very similar but overlooking the east beach which was a much better view than last time. The room was nice and clean and kept that way throughout the stay.
Our butlers Marvin and Bebeato were excellent. We are pretty low maintenance and they did everything they could to look after us. They did a great job of booking all the reservations we asked for and dressed the room beautifully for our anniversary.
Food was not as good as last time on site, it felt like the quality had dipped. I was craving vegetables after a week! I cannot eat seafood or shellfish so I find the menu at RP quite limited. We had some great food at Ochi - French and Italian and Dunns - Greek and Asian Fusion.
The watersports guys were fantastic to us. Always good fun and making sure we had a good time. We went out on the Hobie almost everyday and they were teaching us to sail and were very patient. We often had to wait until late morning to get some wind but they told us when the conditions were good.
The beach butlers were their same awesome selves! They are excellent and ensure you not only have drinks and food but are having a great time. In the evening we were well looked after by Garnet, Junior and Stacie.
Overall another great stay and we would return again.
Some constructive suggestions would be to give Captain two stroke a rest and buy an electric leaf blower or even a broom as it was really annoying to hear the guy going all day. The rooms do need a bathroom refresh and a touch up. More food variety would be great. Cooked vegetables would be good. The entertainment volume was really high. It was over 100db which just distorted the sound. Such a shame when there are such talented performers such as Nitaki on. We had to wear ear plugs to stop it being too loud. Just turn it down a touch and it would be much better. These were not deal breakers and would not stop us returning as overall we have had a fantastic stay.
