Came back to this place again.
Excellent food and service. Imagine in a all inclusive they served lobster tails...3 pieces each(= 1.5 full tail).
They did nit run out and was unexpected. Service in rooms, restaurants, beach, bars and throughout resort was great.
Apparently shutt

A nice hotel overall but lacked quieter facilities on an evening for those of us who do not enjoy blaring out noise! Food was good, beaches to die for and lovely pools.Plenty of sunbeds ,not the usual grab a space scenario you can sometimes find. All the staff were very accommodat

Excellent 2 week stay, friendly staff, lovely location, food and drink was great, the only down side is the whole place needs to be up dated and is starting to show its age, and the entertainment if you stay two weeks does repeat its self,

I wanted to like this hotel, It wasn't my original choice but decided to stay because it was the host hotel for a wedding I was attending. I had high expectations of the RIU brand, but felt short. I will list the positives first, that is the staff at the desk and largely at resta

I've seen some reviews grossly exaggerate certain positives/negatives of the trip. I've tried to give a levelheaded account of my experience at this hotel when staying here with a friend.

Great food - fact. There is a huge variety to choose from and this was my most enjoyable pa

Would someone know what time the towel hut closes and where it is located on the resort.
There are 2, one at each pool. The pools do close at 6pm so the towel huts close by then. In the event you missed them, no worries just keep the towel in your room and exchange in the next morning. ( we have done that as we were on the beach after they closed) You are given towel cards at checkin to exchange for the towels. They will bill you if you don't return the cards.

Hello everyone! I’m traveling to Riu Ocho Rios on Monday for a girls trip. I know this question depends on the person but how much money do you think each person should have in cash? Is it necessary or are most things charged to the room? Can we use cards to pay for the excursions or is it charged to the room? Are we able to withdraw money from our bank if need be? Thank you in advance!
I always use my credit card for any excursions. There is an ATM machine in the resorts casino/sports bar. As for cash. Bring enough for tips a few hundred dollars or so. Bring small bills for the bartenders and a few larger for the maid and maybe your meal server on your last day. I never charged anything to the room, so not sure about that or even if they do it. Also, I think I read that the ATM dispenses Jamaican dollars. They like US dollars. Hope that helps. Have a great trip!

Safe Security -- what is happening at this resort with regards to theft? Are employees actually going into the safes? or taking things in your room? Never ever have we encountered this anywhere. We don't take valuable jewellry (actually don't own any lol!) but all of our belongings are valuable to us and don't want anyone looking through our things or have them go missing!
We have stayed 6 times already and get 2 Jr Suites. Never had any problem with safety or security. The safes are actually lock boxes, you get the lock.key at the front desk. Reading what you said about your previous travels, your doing the right thing. Leave the crown jewels at home, don't flash your cash and don't leave the iPhones etc. unattended at the pool/beach and you should be fine.. Hope that helps and have a great trip.

I would like to know if Ocho Rios RIU accept Amex credit cards?
Not sure on that one. But, if possible, I would avoid using credit/debit cards in the gift shop. Because there’s additional charges added for some foundation & something else, I’d have to find my receipts in order to specify. Also, bring your own sheets! Theirs felt like it had sand in it even after they were changed.
