Rooms is a lovely hotel, perfectly positioned to make the most of the Seven Mile beach in Negril. It’s next door to an excellent bar named Woodstock, which has its own stage, and that is next to the Roots bar, which also has its own stage. The two alternate live music nights, which is great for anyone who loves reggae. The best things about Rooms are the guests, who are incredibly friendly, and the low wall on the beach which stops hawkers hassling the sunbathers. Rooms loses a star for two reasons: A) As many of the reviews point out, it is in need of refurbishment and misses having fridges in the rooms. B) The breakfast service is badly organised and on a busy day you can wait up to an hour to be served. PS. There is a tempting looking shack called Sunny Side Bar on the other side of the hotel which is best avoided. It’s presided over by a malevolent-looking Rasta, who calls himself Papa Ganja, and his gang of heavies at the bar who are ready to step in should anyone protest about being ripped off there. Best avoided.

I've just returned from 2 weeks at Rooms. This is a perfectly good 3* place. My room had 2 double beds, plenty of storage and a safe (padlocks from reception - others with touchpad safes had problems getting into them). It was cleaned daily, had a coffee maker - tea and coffee on request from reception, TV and aircon. No blankets but I only needed a sheet as I didn't run aircon overnight. The continental breakfast was fine, served at the table with paid breakfast options available. The location was fantastic - right on the beach. I travelled alone and was glad to have the security of the low wall meaning I felt ok leaving my sunbed and bag whilst swimming. In fact, I felt perfectly safe at Rooms and around the locality. The staff were friendly and helpful, someone came around asking if everything was ok with the rooms and they fixed my hot water that day. I would happily stay at Rooms again and encourage family and friends to visit except for one major downside. Woodstock is right next door. Thumping, pounding, heavy bass music until 2/3/4 am, several nights a week, made sleep a real issue. I would never bring children here, they'd be awake half the night. Woodstock is the only reason I, and others I chatted to during my stay, would not return. I have given Rooms a good rating and would happily return to Negril but not to Rooms only because of Woodstock.

Rooms Negril was our chosen spot as one of our guests has stayed there before. First impressions was good as there was security at the entrance checking all of those coming and going. the staff was very friendly and courteous throughout our entire stay. The service was not as efficient as we are accustomed to however we need to remember that we just got out of a pandemic and also these smaller resorts are competing with the larger all inclusive resorts for staff members.
The grounds were well kept however greater attention to garbage and general debris cleanup would be preferred. There were several times, we walked past towels that has been sitting on chairs and loungers for days, napkins and cups on the beach etc just sitting around. Eventually they would get picked up, however certainly not a staff urgency.
The rooms were clean and the air conditioning was perfect. Unfortunately, there was no lounging areas and the only reprieve from the shade was either under one of the few coconut trees or one of the few umbrellas provided. There is a covered area, but that is designated as the dining area with basic plastic chairs and tables. This resort could easily provide a number of shaded areas with a relatively small investment, which would make the stay far more enjoyable for those that need to get out of the sun. A number of other resorts along the beach had much better covered seating areas which we took advantage of.
The beach is incredible and the water was crystal clear. There is no shortage of entertainment, drinks, dancing and mingling with locals and tourists all together on 7 mile beach. Expect to smell the ganja one your trip!
We would definitely consider returning to this resort and with a few basic improvements, it would be far more enjoyable.

Dear 533glenp, Thank you for choosing Rooms Negril. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay despite the shortfalls. Thank you for taking the time to share your review. Regarding the shades for the beach, we have cleared the S&H issues that we came across and so our new beach umbrellas should be in place by the end of next week.

The beach (which is a part of the popular seven mile beach) was so inviting every day, that I almost wished I went to sleep, and to wake up on it. It helped that the hotel was directly on the beach, and less than a minute walk from my room. The room was comfortable, and clean, so was the property. There is a bar strategically positioned between the beach, and the hotel’s fresh water swimming pool. There is a restaurant on the hotel’s property, the food was good, but the ‘pig’ in me just wished their portions were more, and they opened later. The restaurant staff were helpful and polite. There is live local entertainment right next to the hotel’s property, other restaurants also right next to, and across the street. There’s pizza delivery [delivered hot, in less than 30 minutes]. The room rates make it almost impossible to find an excuse to not be the place to stay. I would recommend Rooms Negril to anyone looking for a small, clean, quiet, affordable hotel (while on the property). A clean beach that’s just steps away from your room, local restaurants, and local entertainment, are literally less than a one minute walk away.

Practical easy to reach on the beach hotel. A can be quite noisy if you're in Building 3 due to the music coming from the bar nextdoor. The staff are ok. I would stay here again as it is more authentic. The hotel provides continental breakfast with the room but you will need to pay extra for a traditional breakfast also they don't serve evening meals but there are a few places you can go to eat out e.g. Flags on the beach where you can get flesh cooked lobster.

Last- minute decision to take a beach break in Negril left me a little nervous but all turned out better than expected. Rooms is located on what some may consider prime location on Seven Mile Beach given its proximity to local bars, grills & restaurants. Beach is expansive and swimmable. Ample tours & activities are peddled along the beach, so no need to worry if 7 days on the beach seem a little much for you. Resort restaurant called Sunshine Cafe serves excellent food at fair prices; too bad it closes at 3 pm. We were lucky to get an oceanview room on the more quiet half of the resort (further from bars & grills with nightly performances & merry-making so the loud noises that may complain about were not an issue…Resort room & facilities (except for gym, which looks fairly recently renovated) are worn and battered by humidity & sea air, but still adequate. Overall, an enjoyable experience.

To the people moaning on here and giving it one star, I suggest you try the Half Moon in Montego Bay, or Sandals in Negril, this is not 5 star, and does not claim to be,but what it is , is a taste of real Jamaica before huge all inclusive Hotels came along, and took all the money, told you not to go out of the complex as it wasn’t safe, total rubbish! You will not get a better location than this- on the beach, and plenty going on with bars on the beach, be nice to people, look out for all the little tricks to get an extra dollar out of you, and you will love it. Continental breakfast is from a continent that I have never visited, cakes fruit and toast and a boiled egg cooked to death so the yolk was black, did ask for a soft boiled egg but it wasn’t possible? Lunches are pretty good tho and great value. The place is a little run down, but it’s clean, the staff were very nice and the location unbeatable.
I would highly recommend Rooms for a real Jamaican experience

Where to start. My husband and I have been coming to Rooms for 12 years now and always found it to be an average hotel but with good staff and the best beach with a great location to restaurants within walking distance.
This year however, it is apparent that this hotel is struggling because of the lack of funds that SuperClubs is not willing to provide them. There is no packs of coffee in the rooms only instant. You may or may not get hand towels and face clothes in your room. No pool or beach guy and more and the staff is pushed to the limit as they have less people hired now. You see the security guard helping serve tables at breakfast. Lunch used to be good here but now the chef has nothing to work with and it is apparent when you get your food.
We had to wait three days to get another TV because ours was broken and we also had to wait three days to get the fridge we requested back in July 2023. We had also requested a certain room and we knew waiting a few days would probably happen but when we went out that day for a walk they had given the room to someone else so we had to wait until the forth day to get a similar room. Although Charmin, housekeeping manager, was trying her best to provide the best service she also has nothing to work with.
For the most part the staff at rooms are really great and will help you any time that they can. Unfortunately, Lesha at the front desk has a very bad attitude and should not be the first person you meet when you come to check in. Other travellers felt the same about her. Much improvement is needed at the front desk.
There of course was a major issue with the beach because of the storm. This certainly was not Rooms fault however, as we watched most hotels remove the seagrass from there resorts Rooms waited and waited most likely not given the go ahead by Superclubs. This was two weeks that didn't need to take so long.
Ms. Grant, the manager, is trying her best to work with little or no supplies or support from her head office. There are many rooms that are unavailable and for whatever reason maybe maintenance issues causes confusion as well. Sad to see this happen to once a fun resort.

I will start this review with the negative comments... Hotel/rooms are dated but clean. could use some re-vamping The beer bottles in piles around the property were very off-putting. Having to haul our luggage up a very long flight of steps was difficult, especially owing to the fact that my partner has issues with one leg and has to wear a brace. On the positive side... the staff were very friendly and always helpful!! Special mention to Charmaine, Tenisha, Iesha, and Darnet. The beachfront was maintained very well, although they had had a severe storm a couple days before we arrived and there were mounds of seaweed on the beach. There were beach towels and beach chairs enough for everyone. Breakfasts were great! We had the continental breakfast each morning and my partner who is a big eater was very satisfied. I however, am not a huge breakfast person, so found it too much. I asked for smaller quantities after the first morning and they were happy to oblige. There were restaurants and good "street foods" right across from the hotel and short walks from the hotel. Would I return to Rooms...I won't say NO. We met a lot of visiting Canadians, which was a positive. Honestly, this was our first time staying in a non-all inclusive hotel, so it was different!

First of all, we had reserved a room with a view on the garden but they gave us a room with view on the Ocean wich was amazing. The view was just incredible and we we're directly on the beach. There is a private beach at rooms wich is cool. The AC was super powerful and worked great. The shower always had hot water and was big enough to be two in it wich was perfect for us.
They have security 24/7 and they are all very helpful. The staff is very nice and professional. The server at their restaurant remembered my order super quick and was so sweet, it was a joy to see her every morning. The food was always excellent with big portions.
We had room service everyday so the room was always super clean wich is great because you basically live on the beach so there is sand everywhere. They changed the towels everyday. The staff was so nice, they always asked if we we're okay and if we needed anything. There was cats on the premise and we fell in love with them. It was so cool to have them greet us every morning.
There is a bunch of restaurants that are close(plenty 5 minutes or less away from the resort), we went to Woodstock wich has super tasty banana daiquiris and good food & Coletta's had the best fried chicken i've ever eaten. Rick's café is a 10 minute car ride and downtown is 5 minutes away. So plenty of cool stuff close.
We went to Negril to snorkel, the beach right in front of us had stingrays, barracudas, tinys Sergent major's, you have to check further or where there is small instalations, like bowe's, cords or a brick. You can take a boat to go to the reef or booby cay island.
So finally, if you are looking for a cheap trip with paradise views, good food, good time, comfort and chill people, go to Rooms in Negril !
Plus:If you like Raggae you will be served. Plus 2 : One special thing about Negril, is that it is SO clean, like there is not a cigarette butt or anything on the ground. Much cleaner than most places I've been.
