Charela Inn the discreet charm of peace & tranquility, good company and fine food. Nothing more ... Nothing less. CHARELA INN resort sits elegantly on the famous Negril Beach, by the Caribbean Sea. Its fifty rooms and beach stretches 250 feet in width and 150 feet in depth of pure white sand sprinkled with coconut trees to afford natural shade to our guests. Beyond the sand lies a lawn and two large patios to dine "Al fresco" or simply sip cocktails while watching the sunset. All 59 rooms are built around an inner court yard in an Hacienda style with a round fresh water swimming pool in the center of the yard, and a lush tropical garden with hibiscus, night jasmine, bougainvilleas etc. As well as many birds including our national doctor bird. The feeling is one of being far from the crowds -- yet a few steps away from the world of water sports and many attractions on the seven mile beach. All buildings are of two floors. Each room has either a private patio or a private balcony. All public access at Charela Inn are designed to accommodate the physically impaired, along with three dedicated ground floor rooms. Charela Inn is renowned for the friendliness and caring of its long standing staff, many being with the resort for over 15 years. Charela's longstanding repeat guests of many nationalities brings with them a true feeling of friendship and are cherished by both management and staff.

On the west shore of Jamaica is this small (50 room), privately owned, hotel that features the friendliest staff, clean, well appointed rooms, expansive beach front, the shelter of many coconut palms, a wonderful interior courtyard garden with circular lap pool a superb restaurant with sufficient French-Caribbean Cuisine and red and white wine selections AND... entertainment two nights every week! There are not many places in all of Jamaica that can cram so much goodness into such a small package. This place is not for the thrill seekers but is perfect for those more interested in the quiet, quality moments that can be found in life. Highly recommended by this reviewer!

Charela Inn is my favorite place to stay in Jamaica. You can see in my pictures (they are not enhanced or edited) that Charela Inn sits on the most beautiful stretch of 7 mile beach in Negril. I walked the entire 7 mile beach and I confirm that Charela Inn has the best beachfront location full of palm trees. The restaurant is excellent! This was my second time visiting Charela and this time I didn’t even dine anywhere else. The staff is warm like your own family. The rooms are immaculately clean. There is A/C, a good size refrigerator with a freezer compartment, a percolator type coffeemaker with coffee and sugar included, a safe for your valuables, a hair dryer in the desk drawer (although the old-fashioned vintage wall hair dryer is still operational!), a small bottle of conditioning shampoo, a small bottle of body lotion, a bar of soap, in each room. If you prefer, you can have your breakfast on the patio in front of your room or you can even have it on the beach! On Thursdays and Saturdays, there is live music at dinner time, and the restaurant gets booked pretty fast, so make sure you make a reservation for your favorite table. The hotel will arrange you the transportation for the price you can’t get anywhere else. Charela Inn is a piece of paradise, a quiet oasis to disconnect and relax.

We had a split day in Negril and decided to stay at the Charela Inn for 3 days and 2 nights under a strong recommendation from many others who had stayed there in the past. This was our second time visiting Negril and we previously had stayed at an all-inclusive which we would be returning to after our stay at Charela. When we arrived we did not see any of the frills of the nearby all inclusive resorts, but the hotel is a charming hacienda style resort with immaculate well decorated grounds and a wonderful staff. We stayed in their newly remodeled Seaview Junior Suites which are very spacious, well appointed and have a beautiful view from your balcony of the Caribbean Sea and the best location on 7 Mile Beach. For those who enjoy spending time in a jacuzzi, your room will be furnished with one these tubs. Charela Inn is also the home of the Le Vendome Restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. We cannot speak for lunch, for we had lunch for only one day at a nearby resort because we arrived late in the afternoon and left at 12pm on check out day. We did however, enjoy breakfast and dinner at Charela for two days. Everything was fresh, prepared beautifully and delicious. Now we know why this restaurant has a reputation for being one of the best in Negril! DO NOT forget to ask for their famous home baked chocolate croissants. I promise you that you have never tasted something so delicious and will leave you wanting more! The beach was wide and truly exudes the tropical feel with many palm trees lining the entire front of the resort. The sea, what can I say...one of the best beaches I have seen in the Caribbean, crystal clear, calm and free of seaweed. Grab you tea or coffee in the morning and go to the waters edge. You will see many fish and a beautiful stingray that seemed to go past every morning down 7 Mile Beach.

Jamaica, Seven Mile Beach and The Charela Inn is truly a paradise, I highly recommend this resort. I do not want to bash any other resorts on this beautiful beachfront, but lets say that we spent triple the price to stay at the other resort for our split stay and did not have the hospitality, charming environment, pristine beach and food that we experienced at the Charela. For the remainder of the week, we were wishing we could get back to the Charela but this was not possible for we already paid for our accommodations. When wel return to Negril, this property will be our go to.

I cannot think of enough nice things to say about this resort. This was our first time to Negril & Jamaica in general and I had done an obscene amount of research for this trip. We switched hotels twice (Couples Swept away > Skylark> Charela) due to budgeting and to be honest I was nervous we were not going to be happy with Charela and it wasn't going to be nice or luxurious enough. I was humbled to say the least. While not the most luxurious or expensive hotel Ive ever stayed in there is something about is romantic, rustic vibe and charm that has made it one of my top favorites. The property is unbelievable- this stretch of beach is absolutely gorgeous, I'd wager that it is the prettiest stretch of beach in Negril. This place is so romantic. The staff was polite and efficient if not overly friendly. There is the sweetest "family dog" named "Kush" that roams the property and beach and we were sad to leave. Our room was immaculately clean. We paid about $700 less per night than friends staying at CSA and our room was twice as large with a HUGE two person tub, a balcony overlooking the live music stage, and beach. The restaurant? 10 out of 10. The absolute BEST Fresh flaky croissants and ham and cheese omelets served to us each morning on the beach or brought to our room. Eating the most decadent Chicken Alfredo pasta while listening to the band and the waves crash just steps away is a core memory. I never thought I would MISS a hotel as much as I do right now. Do yourself a favor and stay here. Request room 315.

I spent 4 days at Charela Inn with my husband in February after a week in Treasure Beach. I’ve been to other small, locally owned hotels on the 7 mile beach, and Charela is unique in that it has a little French influence in the atmosphere and decor. The room was small but really cute, not super fancy, more like old school elegant. The beach area was nice and it’s in a perfect location on the 7 mile. Restaurant is a little more upscale than what we are used to but not outrageous, we ate breakfast there daily and 1 dinner, the food was excellent. They make their own bread which I hadn’t seen before in Negril. Service was amazing and Covid protocol is taken seriously, staff was always masked and sanitizer always available. We were able to take our Covid test to fly back to the Us across from Cocolapalm which is right next door and Charela covered the cost since we stayed 4 nights, so it was easy and convenient.

Also loved seeing the resort’s German Shepherd, Kush, hanging out on the beach during the day!

I've been traveling to Negril and have stayed at most of the nicer boutique hotels on the beach and the Charela Inn just moved to the top of my list. Had an amazing stay from Jan.12 to Jan.19. Really liked my deluxe king room with a balcony(323). Bed was big and comfy and the bathroom appeared to be recently remodeled. The second floor balcony offered a fantastic view of the Sea, beach, and palm trees. Charela has the nicest beach of all the smaller hotels.

The food was great and I ate my breakfasts in the restaurant and enjoyed lunches on the beach. Ate at Le Vendrome several times and also went to the numerous places nearby for dinner.

The staff was great with most of them being longterm employees. You could see they had friendships with many of the returning guests. I can't wait to go back. In fact, I'm going back March 8!!

A true gem! We recently stayed there with our 5y old son, my husband and I, and I can't speak highly enough of it. The beach is pristine with crystal clear water, soft white sand and trees/palm trees providing shade.. The service at the hotel from checkin-in to check-out (servers, bartender, beach attendants, etc) was fantastic! I felt that every employee truly cared about the place and wanted to make our stay exceptional. Breakfast was delicious and they had a good selection. The drinks from the bar were delicious..We only had dinner once and it was great. There are many restaurants and bars within walking distance along the beach and on the main road. The room and property was clean, well maintained and had everything you need without the needless frills that simply serve to inflate your bill. You will definitely feel the relaxed Jamaican spirit and atmosphere from the moment you arrive. We will come back again! Thank you for the wonderful experience.

From chatting with people on the beach, we understand why they come back year after year to the Charela Inn. We had a fabulous vacation at this beautiful boutique hotel right on the beach. We were upgraded to the most amazing junior suite with a giant jacuzzi for two and breathtaking oceanfront view. Our room was kept spotless everyday by the wonderful housekeeping staff. We enjoyed breakfast on the beach every morning with Shima, our adorable waitress who greeted us by name (thanks for saving me a croissant!). I can't say enough about the staff at the Charela Inn. Everyone was so friendly and engaging. Do not miss the chance to have a massage by Janet right on the beach. She is the best! Ask for Wayne to pick you up at the airport. He was so helpful and informative about Jamaica and just an overall joy to get to know. We can't wait to return the next chance we get!

Spent a few nights here in October with my Jamaican boyfriend at the time. It is a clean, older style hotel with old-style charm. This was my first time staying at this hotel and the first time staying on Long Bay. I was hesitant at first because I normally stay at an all-inclusive. I was very comfortable there and everyone was very nice to us. I absolutely loved the breakfast there served by Nicola who made sure we had everything we needed. It was reasonably priced and delicious.

I enjoyed the clean, spacious beach. Perfect setup for a smaller hotel. We were always able to get a nice spot without being too close to other guests. And there was a good amount of shade under the palm trees. The water was absolutely gorgeous at this location and I was able to walk quite a distance in either direction for my morning exercise.

The rooms were a nice size and the bed was quite comfortable. I had a seaview first floor room which had a patio and a view of the beach. All in all, I was very pleased with my stay at Charela and plan to return in the near future.

We just got back from staying 11 days at Charela Inn! First time we have stayed there and I must say won’t be the last. EVERYONE from check in, to all the staff, life guard and especially security were absolutely great! Food was awesome also! Best part was the beach area! Best place on 7 Mile! Unless you want an all inclusive like Sandals, etc. this is exceptional! Our air conditioner went out and after finding it wasn’t fixable they moved us to another room. Although we didn’t like moving it turned out fine! Thank you for helping us! We had the junior suite with sea views and it was lovely! We also took Captain Mikes glass bottom boat and went snorkeling and out to Booby Cay. They were great! Can’t wait to go back next year!
