This hotel was PERFECT for my family of 4 (two adults and two kids, 14 and 11). We had our own 2-bedroom cabin with a kitchen and screened-in porch. What you should know is that the inn is pretty out of the way. It worked for us as we had rented a car. There are shuttles offered to the beach 3 times a day (10:00, 2:00, and 6:00). You can also arrange to be driven to pretty much any destination for a fee. (I have no more info on that because as I said, we had a car). The grounds of the hotel are just beautiful, with 2 small saltwater pools and one large chlorinated pool (which we didn’t use because the saltwater pools are right by the ocean and the scenery is incredible). It is not a party atmosphere at all, but you can choose to be social by sitting at the bar. There are 2 restaurants on site, both with excellent and very reasonably priced food! We especially enjoyed the breakfast! The staff all around the hotel was incredibly friendly. The owner stopped by our dinner table to introduce himself and check how things were going. (He also gave us a great recommendation to visit Mayfield Falls which ended up being the highlight of our trip!). The road to get to the inn is rough but worth it! I felt 100% secure on the grounds and they do have someone at the gate letting people and cars in and out 24/7.

It’s mind boggling that the Westender is listed as having four stars. The hotel may have opened in 1984, but it certainly hasn’t been updated since well before then. The staff, while mostly friendly, were not particularly helpful and did not go out of their way to provide any sort of good level of service. The toilet in a family member’s room did not flush, there was no hot water in the shower, and the driver we booked through the hotel four days ahead of time to take us to the airport cancelled at the last minute, despite us checking in the morning on the ride to the airports. They also seemed to be out of all the basics you would expect from any hotel: beach towels for the beach, eggs at breakfast, soap in the bathroom, one third of the menu at dinner, and juice and ice at different times at the bar. All that being said, we came to the Westender not wanting to stay amid the hustle and bustle of the heart of Negril and the hotel certainly accomplishes that. There is great swimming and snorkeling on site and there is a free shuttle that brings guests to the Whistling Bird, a very quaint and quiet spot on Seven Mile Beach with free beach chairs for Westender guests. Be warned that the shuttle or a rental car is the only way to get offsite, as the Westender is not walkable to anything. While we will not be choosing to stay at the Westender again, it may be an okay no-frills budget option for some, just don’t expect anything anywhere near four star service or accommodations.

This is a gem 💎 of a location BUT what made the stay SO SPECIAL is the Westender Family hospitality! They strive hard to let the good vibes play. We enjoyed snorkeling along the cliffs, eating Jamaican food at Westender (the Snapper in Coconut Milk was my favorite) , hanging at the bar, Sunday Bomb Fire. Enjoy a pot of Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee, dip yourself in the pool for that morning swim than let the good times roll. Enjoyed the convenience of a shuttle to 7 mile beach. At 7 mile beach, coconuts are picked fresh and enjoy the coconut juice. Plenty of food stands (had chicken foot soup- dont knock it until ya try it) Enjoy a message. "Don't worry about a ting 🎵" The rooms are VERY comfortable. The care of the landscape is beautiful. Absolutely love this place because the Westender Family makes it so special! 💞

This resort is heaven on Earth. The property is gorgeous, any direction that you look. The staff are not only friendly, and helpful, but they go out of their way to accommodate the needs and wants of guests. The owners of the resort are often on property, and they come out to greet gusts and show their hospitality. As a traveler coming from the US, my husband and I were looking for a resort that would be remote enough to feel as though we were not crowded or staying at the zoo, but close enough to Negril that we could easily get around town if we wanted to. The Westender was perfect. Unlike other 2,000 room resorts in Jamaica, this small 20-something room resort was a breath of fresh air from feeling like sheep being hurdled through tourist experiences. The Westender has the best coral reef and sea life snorkeling that I have ever seen. There is a coral reef restoration project that was gorgeous. I saw a giant manta ray, flounder, and an eel while snorkeling there. After a few days of snorkeling, we wanted to have a beach day. The owners told us about their free shuttle service to another small, low key resort in Negril that has a beautiful sliver of 7 Mile Beach. We took the free shuttle and spent the day on the beach. The drivers were very nice, and even let us stop at the market on the way for some much needed sun screen. Every Sunday, the resort throws a bonfire sunset party, and while we were there, they had a live DJ, as well as one of the best saxophone players I had ever heard. We did go out to eat in Negril, and the resort was able to give us a ride for half the price of a taxi. We honestly had wished that we had just stayed and eaten again at the resort, because the food at the restaurant was more expensive than the resort, and the food at the resort was better. The owners let us tour the on-site garden where they grow almost all of the fresh produce that they serve. We even saw one of the resort chefs bartering with a fisherman who was boating by property, so we know how fresh the food at the resort is. My husband and I will be returning to Westender every year for vacation.

My husband and I traveled to Negril, Jamaica with the intent of doing absolutely nothing. We decided that the Westender Inn would be a great place to stay for us since it was a remote location, far away from any hustle and bustle of a nearby town. We were not disappointed.
I loved just about everything about the Westender Inn. Our room was a deluxe room that had an ocean view. It was very pretty and comfortable. The salt water infinity pools that were right by the cliffs were relaxing and cool. I lounged in one and watched the waves crash against the rocks over and over. The over all atmosphere is calming and relaxing and peaceful.
In addition to a nice place to lay our heads, the food at the Westender Inn was outstanding. Since it's remote and Negril is a good 20 minutes away, we ate at Westie's, the restaurant on the grounds at the Westender. We did not have a single bad meal our entire stay. The food was fresh and flavorful, and I wish I could replicate my meals I had there, here at home.
The staff was friendly and helpful. Bruce, one of the groundskeepers, drove us into Negril one day and found out I loved mangos. When we got back, he picked a breadfruit and three mangos and delivered them to our door. Colleen was out housekeeper and she kept our room neat as a pin. Our bartenders would make these delicious smoothies out of fresh mango, papaya and banana. The coffee we had in the morning, served to us by Natasha, was always hot and fresh.
Dan, the owner, was on the grounds and he made sure we were comfortable and gave great suggestions for places to eat and places to relax on the beach when we went into Negril.
If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing location. A place that is away from all the crowds, then the Westender Inn would be a great place to go to recharge and let go of all your stress. It's clean, beautiful, has a great staff, and marvelous food. The view is breathtaking. I hope we get to go back and if we do, I'd stay at the Westender again.

We had a fantastic stay at The Westender Inn, a beautifully designed boutique hotel on the deep West End of Negril. Our stay was in an ocean-view premium room, #9, with reasonable rates and a king-size bed with a gorgeous carved wooden headboard. I could lay in bed and watch the waves crashing into the coral cliff. They have excellent service with an exceptional staff. I can’t say enough how wonderful and accommodating all the staff was, from Natasha at the bar to housekeeping, the many gardeners who keep the property immaculate, to Kamar, our daily shuttle driver. Between Kamar and the owner, Dan, I’ve never felt safer in a car in Jamaica. I’ve been going to Jamaica since 1980 and have had many scary rides. Let’s say there’s a large staff of excellent, professional, trusted people working at The Westender. They all make you feel welcome and at home for a safe stay. The property itself is paradise. There are three saltwater infinite pools seaside and a large garden side pool in the shape of Jamaica right near their restaurant where we ate authentic Jamaican-style breakfast every morning. Eggs, callaloo, plantain, rice and peas, with a tropical fruit plate. And let’s not forget the best Jamaican coffee. Sunsets are spectacular, and due to the hotel's location, you have the added beauty of the sunrise. I highly recommend this beautiful piece of heaven.

This was the second time that I stayed at the Westender, and it has honestly become my favorite place in the world. A little slice of heaven on the coral reef, the entire property is gorgeous. It's so peaceful, especially visiting in June, the typical off-season. There were times that my husband and I were completely alone, watching the sunset over the ocean as if we owned our own little resort, just for us. I definitely recommend to any couples looking to get away, but it is also safe and low key for a family vacation.
The staff are gracious and welcoming. They will do just about anything to make you more comfortable and accommodate your needs. The chefs in the kitchen are experienced and make the most delicious authentic Jamaican food. It's cheaper to eat at the resort than going out to restaurants in town, but if you wanted to go into Negril, free shuttles take you to the hustle and bustle of Negril 3 times per day.
My husband and I will definitely be back!

The view is beautiful, but unfortunately that’s where the nice things end. The location is not optimal for doing anything at all, you are struck here and struck with their food, their service. They have a shuttle which charges USD 8 per person one way for going anywhere near to a civilization. You cannot walk outside as it’s not safe and they even have an incorrect duplicate location setup on google maps. This is not a location I would want to be in a tourist country.
The service except at the bar, is the worst we have ever received in 10 years of traveling. No fresh towels, even when asked for explicitly. The attitude around here is that tips buy things, but forget about the base price of each thing.
We supposedly got an ocean view and it was beautiful to hear the waves, but the view is obstructed by a pillar, a tree and what not. Better to go for standard room if you come here. Ours was upgraded room, but the bathroom door did not close, no exhaust fan in the bath/toilet. The toilet seat has basin next to it and it hits your elbow repeatedly.
Now for the star of this show of service, when checking out, we let them know ahead of time we will need a paid shuttle back to the town. They assured everything will be here, but we waited 65+ minutes for it!!! Glad we did not have any flights, otherwise this would have been costly. You should probably not rely on any words they say, its an establishment who just wants to squeeze money out of you, please avoid at all costs if you value your vacation.
