What a perfect getaway for my wife, baby girl and I. We had a fantastic time, and would love to return in the near future! We booked one of the Rumba rooms rather than luxury hut, as we felt a room suited a family setup better. We were not disappointed. The room was very large, spacious, clean, and had everything we needed. The bathroom was also spacious. We loved the tough of being able to see the view through the window between the bathroom and bedroom. The view through the huge floor to ceiling windows was breath taking. The crystal, blue waters shimmering through the lush, rainforest canopy. The pool area was fairly quiet, so easy to get one of the few sun loungers. We also loved the pool table. The best kept secret at the resort is the private beach. It's one of our favourite places on the planet. We were lucky enough to be taken out on kayaks by Arthur, who introduced us to the turtles living within the bay. What an experience! We ate some very tasty food at the restaurant in the evenings, and drank some lovely cocktails at the bar. Breakfast was fantastic. Decent choices. This is meant to be pre-ordered the previous day, however, we did miss this most days due to falling asleep early... A big thank you to the co-owner Steve and Restaurant Manager Sam. Both great hosts! Steve even gave us a tour of the world-famous music studios. Hopefully see you all again soon... Paul, Hayley and Matilda.

Hotel's Favourite
This was my first time visiting Geejam,… I was literally’ thrown out of Jamaica Palace hotel….. their excuse was they were overbooked!. I phoned Steve at Geejam & he was very sympathetic. He kindly moved his schedule around to accommodate us at Geejam as well as giving me information on other hotels. At Geejam the hospitality is of a high standard I have visited other larger hotels and Geejam has set a high bar. When we arrived at at reception they immediately offered us any drink we wanted, to welcome us into the hotel This was a so hospitable, The checking in was smooth and transparent. Once we go to our room I was ‘blown’ away…… the setting which was absolutely fantastic. The apartment had a large balcony nestled in the woods… overlooking the sea. We also had her own Jacuzzi as well as a 3 seater Sofa And a hammock in the corner. The apartment was exceptionally clean & well decorated. The BushBar & restaurant has good quality food at reasonable prices. I would highly recommend Geejam to any one travelling to Portland forget the larger Hotels.

We love visiting Jamaica. Over the past 15 years, we have been very privileged to stay in many large and small places throughout the Island (Couples, Jake's, Strawberry Hill, Caves, Rockhouse, etc.). During our most recent trip, we finally made it to Port Antonio and stayed at Geejam. What an incredible experience we had during our 5-night stay - we stayed for 1 night in the Rumba room and for 4 nights in Ska. Bordered by a bird sanctuary, with a gorgeous view of the Caribbean, both rooms were beautiful, high-tech with great wifi and very clean. From the very warm and personal welcome we received from the team at reception, to the attentive servers, talented chefs and engaged managers at Bushbar (Sam, Joe) to Arthur, the multi-talented, environmentally-respectful lifeguard who enjoys showing and educating guests about all of the many creatures who live in the reef at Geejam's beach, to the kindness and attentiveness of Steve Beaver, one of Geejam's co-owners, we were overwhelmed by the people we met. Geejam is located within a highly-walkable part of Port Antonio and we enjoyed the short walk to and from Frenchman's Cove beach. We also thoroughly enjoyed meeting and interacting with our fellow guests who were at the resort and Steve's personal tour of the Geejam Studio was a highlight of our visit. We feel so blessed, rejuvenated and restored by our visit and can't wait to return to experience more of the magic that the team at Geejam creates and cultivates for each one of its guests.

Geejam knocks it out of the park in all aspects! We were very fortunate to spend seven glorious nights and days at this hidden treasure. The dedicated and welcoming staff and management are a treasure. We stayed in the Drum & Bass cabin. Great view and deck and worth the splurge. The food and drinks are five star quality, thanks to the wonderful servers, bartenders, and chefs. Special requests are accommodated without hesitation. Owner Steve is like a roving minstrel, spreading good cheer and stories on a daily basis. We loved his studio tour with the other guests. We can't wait to return soon! 1Love, The Zs

My daughter and I went to Geejam to unwind from the pressures of college admissions and life. It was perfect. The room, the people, the location -- it has that touch of luxury while remaining true to Island life. Arthur, who took my daughter kayaking (free) to see the sea turtles, is a treasure. Sam (owner's daughter) who suggested we go and experience The Fan (2x a month) with an amazing DJ was spot on and Steve, of course. Everyone meets Steve (owner) who sincerely cares about how your stay is going. Yes, the service is a bit slow like it can be throughout the Island but you can call your order in ahead of time if that's important to you. It wasn't important to us -- we were happy to just sit and relax -- and the food is quite good and freshly prepared when it arrives. The morning juice concoctions are amazing. (I'm not a big juicer) I think what makes Geejam so special is that it's NOT corporate at all -- no one is checking your mini fridge every second to charge you or standing around at all for a tip. The staff feel connected to one another and the owners in that way that they don't want to let each other down or disappoint the guest. It's an open and friendly atmosphere -- you don't have to engage, it's not like that -- but you will probably enjoy yourself more -- as well the interesting people who come to Geejam -- if you do. Just one note, this is not a hotel for anyone with mobility issues.

Excellent hotel with very friendly staff especially waitresses Alicia and bar man Ian both very smiley and happy which is infectious. The food is absolutely delicious compared to a few other places we’ve stayed on this trip. Pool and view from pool breathtaking. They have a little beach which isn’t much but you can snorkel and kayak from there which is included. Arthur will take you to look at the turtles. Steve, one of the owners is really lovely and took us on a tour of his recording studio. He likes to chat with guests which is nice. The bedrooms very clean and modern. Car park tiny and you struggle to park at times. All in all a perfect end to our stay in Jamaica.

Writing a review that fully captures the delightful week we spent at Geejam is a challenge. Having spent many years travelling on business and staying in global 5* hotel brands, nothing comes close to the experience we received from the brilliant Geejam team - from Bushbar, restaurant to room service to reception. Not forgetting the atmosphere and surroundings. Beautifully located up on a hillside overlooking jungle and coast with spacious luxurious rooms, and pathways throughout the property guaranteed to keep one fit. Nearby beaches, attractions, lively local bars walkable or a short taxi ride away. A place owned, managed and created by people with vision and understanding of Jamaica, hospitality, nature and escape. Can’t wait to return.

Had the most wonderful few days at Geejam last week, could not recommend it highly enough. The rooms are beautiful, the views are amazing and the food is great. The real standouts though are both the location and local area, and the fantastic staff. Port Antonio has so much to do and see, from the Blue Lagoon to beautiful beaches (would really recommend Frenchman's Cove & Winnifred Beach) as well as rafting down the Rio Grande which is stunning. Geejam can organise all this for you which makes the whole experience super relaxing. We were so well looked after by everyone there, Steve is a wonderful host and Lloyd the transportation manager & Newton from guest services went the extra mile to ensure we had a great time and saw everything we wanted to (and shout out to the lovely reception & bar staff too). Definitely make this a stop on your Jamaica trip.

I’d done quite a bit of research about Jamaica’s best (and coolest) hotels ahead of a much-needed break with my wife Becky - and are we glad we chose Geejam! It’s even BETTER than the descriptions and photos suggest. So where do I start? Ok, I’ll begin at the beginning. The drive from Kingston is around 2.5 hours - but if you make it during daylight you’ll see so much of Jamaica’s beautiful hinterland on the way as you skirt round the magnificent blue mountains. Once we got to Geejam we were literally blown away. The views from almost everywhere on the sprawling property are literally to die for. We booked the Drum and Bass cabin, which must boast one of the best sea views from a hotel room anywhere in the world. The room was cleaned whenever we asked it to be - and drinks and snacks (or even meals) are brought to you via whatssap. However we spent a lot of time in the Bushbar restaurant - where the views of the Caribbean Sea and the surrounding rainforest are even more gobsmacking (it’s a bit higher up the hill). The ambience is uber-cool and the food is absolutely top notch. We ate there every night and didn’t have a single below-par meal. The staff were amazing and the Co-owner Steve spends a lot of time socialising with his guests which made us feel really part of the ‘Geejam family’. The other owner’s daughter Sam, was also around a lot, and is absolutely lovely and also super-kind and friendly. They make you feel like house guests rather than customers of a top class hotel. That is unique in my experience. However - there is also a lot more going on nearby to Geejam than I had realised. Amazing beaches within walking distance (or a short drive), and plenty of great little bars literally a stone’s throw from the hotel. Here are a few top tips (in no particular order) to ensure you enjoy the full Geejam/Portland experience: Do: 1. Join Steve on a personal tour of his world famous recording studio (just ask him for one if you’re not sure when they’re happening). 2. Take the 15 min walk to Frenchman’s Cove and enjoy a simple lunch on your sunbed on the beach (it’s around $20 a head to get in but is totally worth every cent. You can get vouchers from reception which are conveniently billed to your room). 3. Have lunch at Cynthia’s Place on Winnifred beach (10-15 min taxi ride). She’ll cook your lunch to order and serve it to you Al Fresco. 4. Have a beer/rum or two in any of the tiny but vibrant little bars in Drapers village. (It’s a 5 minute walk from the bottom of the hotel and the locals are extremely friendly). ‘Vinyl Sunday’ where local DJ’s spin the wheels of steel every week is a must! Note: the place really comes alive from sunset onwards. 5. Bring some Jamaican dollars with you. You’ll need them to pay for your food and drinks locally. (There are no ATM’s nearby). Don’t: 1. Be lazy and stay in the hotel ALL the time (which is tempting) for the reasons outlined above. 2. Be unsure about booking a Rhumba room if the cabins are unavailable during your dates - they’re massive (bigger than the cabins inside) and are beautifully decorated. We were also shown round the property’s three villas - they’re simply unreal and are somewhere we’d definitely consider sharing with friends. (Banksy even left evidence of his stay on some of Sanwood’s walls!) 3. Go to Geejam if you have genuine accessibility issues. The place is built up a hill - but we felt the daily exercise (especially going down to the hotel’s amazing private beach) kept all the food and drink we consumed at bay! 4. Go to Jamaica if you don’t appreciate the island’s constant reggae soundtrack - for obvious reasons. 5. Go to Geejam if you’re a fan of snobby high- end hotels. This place is very much high-end, but celebrates being inclusive and suitably laid back. In summary, Geejam is a very special place for those who want to truly relax and unwind in an unspoilt corner of Jamaica - and appreciate the island’s people and culture. If you want that - this is the place for you. We will definitely be back! One love x

Stayed for 2 nights in one of their four cabins with my mum and it was a real quality experience. We went into the Geejam private beach area to whisper for the sea turtles who popped up to the top of the ocean when they hear reggae beats (or maybe it’s Arthur’s special tricks). It is close to Frenchmans cove, the blue lagoon, Boston beach & jerk centre and not too far from Nanny falls. Highly recommend! :)
