Our family went to the Bahia Principe for Christmas 2019. We had been there 2 years ago and decided to return since we had figured out the do's/don'ts previously. Overall the place is great, although aspects of the buildings need some upkeep (water damage in the hallway ceilings and carpets, etc.). The grounds are well maintained and landscaped. The food was good and plentiful in the regular buffet (especially the custom omelettes), and the specialty restaurants were good also; we especially liked the Italian one near the beach for both food and location. The jerk chicken at the beach restaurant was very good especially when you add the optional sauces (take it easy on the very hot one). The staff were helpful and friendly and special shout outs to Alton, Taneille, Ricky and others in the restaurants...and Joel at the bar on the patio outside the main lobby, Collin and Gerrick at the west beach bars with their singing and joking. Pools seemed clean and well maintained, although the music is too loud for my liking but I spent all my time on the beach as I can go to a pool anywhere. Our housekeeping in the room was fantastic as we left notes for them asking for a few things and they were very accommodating. And to all prospective guests, remember that "all inclusive" doesn't mean no tipping...please include tipping in your budgets as it makes a big difference to these hard working folks and is greatly appreciated. One other thing that could use some improvements is the check in/check out process especially at busy times when large groups/arrive depart. It seemed that additional staff at certain times would be helpful as people were getting frustrated (staff too most likely). Ya Mon!

We booked a last minute trip for a family of five. We booked two rooms next to each other. The rooms were very clean, never saw any bugs. We were on the second floor room 14206 and 14207. One room had 2 double beds and the other room had a king. The shower worked well and the washroom was clean. The food was really good and the restaurants were great! We went for 7 days and had a lot of fun. The shows were ok..and the kids program could have been better. The staff were friendly and the bartenders were amazing with the kids. They do expect tips in Jamaica so it's great to bring some US dollars. The gift shops in the village area where the evening shows are near the stage gave discounts. Large mbrellas are provided in rooms incase of rain. It rained a few nights so they came in handy. The beach is great, you can bring goggles for kids to look for fish or snorkeling gear. The buffet had a variety of food and the chef cooking the lamb, chicken, fish and steak was amazing.

We booked the resort because our first choice which we initially booked did not reopen on time, and the price was good. Based on some reviews that applauded the covid measures, we felt this was a good choice. Our wedding was scheduled at a private beach club but we had to change that due to government restrictions. The best part of our stay was the wedding. Our coordinator Delicia was amazing. She listened and delivered beyond our expectations! The food in the buffet was great! Staff were attentive and polite. The wait time to be seated was never long, even during weekends when lots of locals were on property. The pool is wonderful and spacious. Jerome at the pool bar took great care of us daily! I can’t remember the name of the gentleman who did the aqua routines with us but he is a charm and so fun! Also the housekeeping staff was so polite.
Down points for us: the day we checked in we had room 21601 and it was beautiful! They had welcome gifts for us. The view was the most beautiful view ever! The deck was huge and you could see so much of the resort and a sea view. Later that day, we discovered the AC did not work or the hydro massage tub. We changed rooms the next day and lost the amazing view we had.
We had 15 people in our group and 3 rooms had to be changed due to only having 1 bed in each room. Again people who paid for a sea view, were given a less attractive view.
We were impressed by the sanitizing stations that were at each elevator and all over the resort. But by day 2, those were all empty and most were never refilled again it seemed. I don’t think they were refilling and having them empty that quickly. Masks are supposed to be mandatory in the lobby areas but so many people did not wear one or kept it pulled down.
I am a travel agent so I have paid close attention to the protocols and rules regarding leaving the property.
One of our wedding guests is a certified Juta Tours operator and Juta is on the government website of approved transportation. We wanted to use him as our driver to go to approved excursions. We were initially told that we could not use him. But we did not accept that. We felt like we were being bullied into using the tour operators that the resort works with. It took lots of running around to different people and almost a full day before we got the approval. That wasted a lot of our time and stressed us out.
Most of the guests in our group had complaints of front end staff being rude and dismissive when trying to voice concerns to them. Even to the point of walking away like they didn’t hear you speak.
Overall we made the most of it and enjoyed our family vacation and wedding.
I’m hoping that post-covid, things are better at this resort because it does have the potential to be an amazing place.

I'm sure like everyone else we were a bit skeptical traveling during COVID. We had been to Negril before and decided to try out the other side. We found out last minute that we'd be unable to leave the resort and we honestly thought the trip wasn't going to be that great. We were wrong, the trip was Amazing!!!

From arrival they took our temperatures, offered us a welcome drink, and escorted us to our room. There was an issue with the lock to the adjoining door, I notified front desk they came immediately to fix, but also honored my request for a room change.

The staff were all friendly, the ala carte food was really good. Lots of options to choose from, I was impressed at a lot of the authentic Jamaican food choices they had. We made dinner reservations for 3 out of 6 nights, Japanese, Italian, & one other place. Each night was a success, the food was great & our server Alvin provided some of the best customer service ever. Also the manager Everton was very helpful.

Each day at the pool there were different activities for everyone, from trivia, games, Dj playing, dancing, etc. Not to mention they water activities, we took a sunset boat tour roughly $50/pp but totally worth it. Night time there was a silent listening party, DJ, steel band, disco, etc. There was no shortage on activities.
Bartenders weren't stingy with the rum either. No water downed drinks!!!

I think the most impressive thing though was the way they had cards placed on each table that lets you know if it had been sanitized, the moment you sit down, staff removes so they know to clean. Staff all wore their masks, and enforced wearing one to dinner/restaurants then you take off once seated. They also checked temperatures as you enter the Ala Carte buffet, also encouraging social distancing.

I would recommend, I will definitely be returning. Also I read almost every single review before booking *Yes I'm one of those people* But I'm glad I took a chance to experience it for myself. I will say it's not super luxury so if that's what you're wanting this might not be the resort for you. But the food was great, rooms/grounds were clean, housekeeping came in daily, and the front desk will work with you to meet your needs.

Had 11 nights here but in comparasion to other 5 star hotels we have stayed in Jamaica i wouuld rate this 3.5 stars. it is clean the pools are great but you are constantly harrassed by timeshare to the point we took different routes so we did not have to pass them on the way to meals as they are by the restaurants and bars. Rooms need a refurb as they are pretty basic but large. restaurant booking can be a pain it is hit and miss. Food was very good but again service in restaurants differed and very dissapointed that often they had run out of choices on the menu. Also in the bars they ran out of certain brands of drink which you would not expect in this category hotel. Overall the Hotel is lovely with some teething issues but i would still recommend it and think it is brilliant for familys, i would recommend couples book the luxury side if you like to relax as you have a choice of adult only areas and the upgrade on arrival is only $12pppn but this is not to change rooms just to use luxury facilities.
We found most staff friendly, the beach was great and we were impressed with the choice of pools.

This was my second trip to the resort. First being back in 2019 on the Luxury side that was closed this time around. My family and I stayed at the resort for 15 days in March, 2021. I can not say enough about how perfect our stay went. First and foremost, I made some special requests of adjoining rooms for my family of 4 with specific beds and then also requested an additional room in close proximity as the other two because I had additional family joining us for the second half of the trip. I realize that requests are based upon availability, but the resort gave us exactly what we wanted and it worked out perfectly.

The check in process with Latoya was smooth and easy and the staff at the reception desk were welcoming and pleasant. The bell man assisted with taking all of our bags to our rooms.

The resort was clean and grounds were beautiful. There was hand sanitizer available everywhere (next to the elevators, pools, lobby, bars, and restaurants) and temperatures were taken prior to entering any dining room.

The buffets were somewhat limited, but this was expected due to low occupancy of the resort during the pandemic. That being said, there was enough selection to not get bored about some of the redundancy of the buffets.

Our housekeeper (Viviena) kept our rooms in immaculate shape which gave us the feeling of being just at home for the entire two weeks. My kids absolutely loved the little towel figurines she made on the beds every day. Believe it or not, over two weeks and she never repeated one. That was fun!

The entertainment staff were absolutely wonderful as well. Kimani, Andre, Kevin, Javal, the Panda, and the DJ's had several games throughout the day that encouraged people to have fun and participate, and the evening activities were fun.

The bartenders around the pool absolutely worked their butts off. Jerome, Antonio, Garrick, Marcia and the others were always doing laps around the pool area taking drink orders and delivering drinks.

The chefs, buffet staff/servers, and waiters also did a phenomenal job and I never felt anything was unsafe or unclean in the dining areas. Shelly Ann and Athena took every good care of my family several times in the buffet dining area as did Javin at the late night buffet. Moralist took very good care of us in the Don Pablo as did Moralist.

Finally, Remar, one of the beach side lifeguards, was extremely pleasant and welcoming and made my kids feel safe and at home, trying to teach them some of the local language.

The WIFI signal could be improved and the elevator we used could use some repairs but really those are the only things I can say could use some improvement.

Hats off Bahia Principe, I'll be back soon!!

We enjoyed every bit of our stay. The hotel was huge for me as I am 7 months pregnant so we had to walk but the cart took us when we ask, wherever we want. Went there for our anniversary and it felt real relaxing being there. I got the room a desired and I loved the service. They were so welcoming. Donnette the house keeper made us feel well special with her towel art and flowers in the room. Felt awesome coming bk to the room after it being cleaned. Krissy the waitress down by "The Knife" restaurant made our anniversary dinner real special with her bright smile and wit. Loved the staff there, they were responsive and complained less lol. We loved the food also except for Monday night when is was Spanish night. The food was tasteless that night. Disappointed seeing that the rest of the days the food was good. We loved the subtle entertainment, they couldn't do much because of the virus but they did enough. I got my pillows as requested without hesitation. One issue tho, their room service was terrible. They came late and the food was hella cold. But they kept calling and apologising. The elevator needs to change as well because it was so small and enclosed. But overall they did more than I expected. Thanks Guys.

I’ve visited the Grand Bahia Principe in Jamaica on 4 previous occasions to this trip. The last time was a few years ago.
Things I noticed this trip were that the buffet was always a mess, food trays weren’t kept clean, food quality is slipping and variety was poor. We noticed lot of dishes were not kept at proper temperatures. There lineups to wait for fresh food were long - alll. the. time. My daughter wanted plain spaghetti from the pasta station one day at lunch and we waited in line for 20mins - no joke - for plain spaghetti.
Not sure what’s going on with the beaches but the nice hard sandy bottom is gone. It’s now a murky, sinking, mucky floor. Lots of sharp rocks on the beaches too that I never noticed on 4 previous visits. The resort needs to fix the beaches up and rip the carpets out of the hotel room buildings. They’re gross, they stink, and they are health hazards.
The reason why we continue to come to this hotel is for the great service we receive from Natrice Dunn in the lobby bar.
We’ve considered going to different hotels but always choose the Bahia because of Natrice’s prompt and kind service. A trip to Jamaica just wouldn’t be the same without her. She is a true gem and I hope her employer sees that.

Just got back from another trip to this resort. We were there from February 18th to February 25th and this is now our 7th time. We usually travel alone but this time we traveled with our children and grandchildren and had a great time with them. The grandchildren had a great time at the water park, the beach and the entertainment they offer for children. We were assigned room 11305 and had a beautiful view of the pool and beach with a large balcony but unfortunately the room had issues and because we spend very little time in the room we don’t like to waste time moving from room to room if at all possible or wait for maintenance or have them in our room when we are not there. So we make do with what we have most of the time. They should have a maintenance schedule in place before guests arrive in the room or have a check list from the cleaning staff to report any deficiencies because the issues were obvious and not depend on the guests to report problems.

#1 The safe could not be programmed, I called front desk and they told me where I could find the reset button inside the safe.

#2 The toilet ran non-stop and I had to keep opening the lid and adjusting the flapper for the water to stop. You would think the cleaning staff would notice this and report it as they do flush the toilet when cleaning it.

#3 On the second day of our stay the door key stopped working, It took three visits to the lobby front desk and the help from Jermaine Shaw from the Air Transit Gold club to resolve the problem. Thank you Jermaine!

#4 Very little water pressure in the shower and the temperature inconsistently would run from very hot to cold.

#5 There was a slow constant water drip from the A/C unit and a slow constant water drip over the washroom sink.
The morning of our departure the ceiling fell down from underneath the A/C nearly missing me. That I reported.

Other then the room issues we will consider another return due to the amenities that are offered and price.

The food is horrible and the service is very poor. Spent 5 days and 4 nights at the Grand Bahia. The best feature of this place is the maintenance of the grounds, everything else is substandard.

I booked my stayed in November and the hotel took a deposit from my credit card (I stayed at two other resorts during the same trip and no one else did that). When I arrived to check in, I was told my reservation had been cancelled as I had not paid the remaining balance in advance of arriving. Instead of trying to assist, the security had me calling the head office in Miami, long distance multiple times before the finally let me on site to deal with management. My booking was eventually reinstated.

When we got to the room, it was old, smelly and poorly maintained. Our view from our balcony was a mould covered exterior wall.

There were only two buffet restaurants open during our entire stay and the food was pretty much the same on rotation and generally sub standard and lacking in flavour.

The beach area by the water park is very serene and lovely. My best meal here was made by a fisherman who setup a mobile restaurant on his boat in the water. Maybe they should hire HIM to oversee the food at the resort.

The wifi is atrocious. You only get free wifi for 1 device per person and you have to reconnect every 15 minutes. When you are connected, the quality is very weak.

I usually do not leave bad reviews on places as I understand that businesses have their ups and downs and nothing is perfect; however, I could not in good conscience let this one slide.

I was counting down the hours until check out. I will NEVER stay at a Bahia property and certainly would not recommend it.
