Room was nice and spacious. Not sure why the frig and coffee maker couldn’t be placed in the room. No microwave or extra power plugs.
There are some signs of wear (e.g. Hurricane aftermath) on the doors but it was not enough to ruin my stay. The elevators can take a little long but again you are on island time so relax and give yourself a little more time to get where you are going.
Unfortunately, that’s about all it has going for it. That and the location.
Once you leave the lobby, the communal areas are depressing and dated (and in places, dirty). A number of the restaurant franchises have not re-opened, and that contributes to the feeling that the hotel is on the verge of closure, but that its management have not had the courage to do so.
Although the rooms (on one side of the hotel) have seen some improvement, the improvement is mostly superficial and the rooms are otherwise pretty basic. We had two rooms: one on the Honors floor. That room was reasonable. The second room, on the 9th floor, had the same cheerful interior but with mould on the ceilings, an overpowering smell, a sofa which looked as though it had seen times, and which was dirty. Stains on the floor, sockets around only one side of the bed, taps with little water pressure.
My wife has sinus troubles so we asked to be moved to a room which did not have the same issues. We were offered a room on the other side of the hotel which had not been modernised. That was pretty bleak, and extremely small; we preferred to stick it out with the mould and an open door to the balcony to dilute the smell.
As others have said, there are (much) better hotels on the same street. The Exhibition area has several new hotels, cheaper than the Condado Plaza, and without the problems associated with it. I would not recommend it, and will not visit again.
The door to the balcony is the type used in store fronts, no sliding door, just glass panes and a door with a lock.
The pool bar desperately needs some paint and you can see what was probably a poolside restaurant with only 2-3 tables. It looked like a ghost town.
From the outside you can see chunks of missing plaster on the sides of the building. Yes, I know Hurricane Maria hit there 18 months ago but this is a Hilton. If you are in business and charge top dollar at least maintain the facility.
So if your idea of a 4 star hotel is dinner at Denny's and a drink in the hotel restaurant then this is the place to waste money.
Oh and also, the elevator to get from the parking to the hotel is still not working. I've read some other reviews from early December and it seems it's been out of order for at least a month. Also the escalator that takes you from the M level to Lobby is out of order.
I am including pictures so you can see for yourself.
