The Condado Plaza Hotel boasts a prime beachfront location that garners appreciation from guests for its proximity to local attractions and eateries. Many visitors are charmed by the hotel's lively atmosphere, complete with beautiful views and local music. However, the hotel's offerings seem to fall short in areas like service and room quality, with numerous reports of unresponsive staff and outdated accommodations. Despite enjoying the pool and beach access, some guests are dissatisfied with the value, pointing to overpriced services and problematic amenities like WiFi and elevators.

I love Hilton properties. This location seemed to be a good deal but once I arrived - parking is expensive- for guest it should be more of a discount esp on off season. Cabri Cafe food was horrible to taste and price. Worst $60 for 2 I’ve spent in a very long time. Food very bland and heated to order. No other restaurants were open. I’m thinking we will just go out for breakfast tomorrow. Not even try again. Another review mentioned the bathroom. I’m just coping and pasting because it’s my exact opinion as well… Bathroom - toilet, microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator and drawers to put clothing were all inside the bathroom. Can’t make coffee while the restroom is being used. Clothes will smell in the bathroom.

Room was nice and spacious. Not sure why the frig and coffee maker couldn’t be placed in the room. No microwave or extra power plugs.

Our family had a wonderful time during our stay. We were able to snorkel and see several fish right off the beach at the hotel. A couple of reasons I didn’t rate it a 5. When we checked in, I was asked if every other day maid service was acceptable and I agreed. The second day no one came. At 3pm I called housekeeping and still no one came. Finally after 5pm I called the front desk and they were able to get me towels and garbages emptied but no full maid service until the following day. Also, keys for our room would spontaneously deactivate about every 2 days. We would come back from a long tiring day and be locked out of our room which was frustrating, this happened to us twice during our stay. I would suggest having more people working behind the desk, there was often a long line of people trying to check in, and when you had issues with keys, there was no one to help. I felt awkward butting in line to ask for help, but was not about to wait in the huge line when the rest of my family was standing in the hallway waiting to get in the room. Usually only 1 or 2 staff members working behind the desk. Staff was all very friendly, would have liked the pool hours to be longer as we were usually out exploring the island during the day and felt we had to rush back if we wanted to use the pool or take advantage of the swim-up bar. Closed at 6pm M-Th and 8pm F-Su. Maybe these were shortened hours due to COVID? I’m not sure.

Upside: Beautiful view, great location, nice lobby and outdoor pool/beach area. Downside: Staff are not that friendly, rooms could be cleaner, I did not like the room setup with the closet and fridge in the bathroom. Also, there is a $200 incident hold I wasn’t aware of till checkin. Nightly resort and parking fees that totaled 200.00 for a four night stay. Resort fees only really included beach chair and towel usage. I don’t think guests should be charged additional for these simple things. Guests of the hotel should be able to park in the hotel garage and use a pool towel and chair free of charge as part of nightly fees!! For a four night stay, I didn’t think it was that great and would not stay there again.

Let's be honest. This hotel is perfectly situated at the end of Condado with two pools (salt water/swim up bar/slide), a beach (El Condadito) and walkable to most of what Condado has to offer. The hotel is modernly appointed and the rooms offer expansive views of the Caribbean sea or lagoon.

There are some signs of wear (e.g. Hurricane aftermath) on the doors but it was not enough to ruin my stay. The elevators can take a little long but again you are on island time so relax and give yourself a little more time to get where you are going.

This hotel would be technically dead, as pretty much anything u expect from a hotel is absent here. The pool and pool area is dirty / saw the same pieces of limes on the ground surrounding the pool bar for over 3 days. Was not told housekeeping was suspended unless you ask for it, so I asked after 3 days and was told it was too late in the day to get serviced that day - it was 11 am??? Exterior and common areas in really disrepair. WiFi is almost non/existent and when it does come on u get disconnected after a few minutes. No food on site and the hotel that is furthest away from stores and restaurants on the Ashford strip! The only signs of activity are the pool and public beach area. Security is present but mask wearing is not reinforced while walking in common areas. Family rooms are tight but have a microwave and fridge although fridge handle was broken and a couple of the lamps in the room had light bulbs that need replacing. There is a Denny’s inside the lagoon portion of the property but someone should drive one of their steaks through the heart of this hotel to put everyone out of misery! Fell a long way from when they used to have a casino and actually spent money on property and guest related services!

This hotel has a fairly bright and modern lobby, and it is split across two buildings connected by a bridge which crosses the road on the Mezzanine level. One of the buildings has had a splash of red paint in the bedrooms, and has artistic headboards, the other has not.

Unfortunately, that’s about all it has going for it. That and the location.

Once you leave the lobby, the communal areas are depressing and dated (and in places, dirty). A number of the restaurant franchises have not re-opened, and that contributes to the feeling that the hotel is on the verge of closure, but that its management have not had the courage to do so.

Although the rooms (on one side of the hotel) have seen some improvement, the improvement is mostly superficial and the rooms are otherwise pretty basic. We had two rooms: one on the Honors floor. That room was reasonable. The second room, on the 9th floor, had the same cheerful interior but with mould on the ceilings, an overpowering smell, a sofa which looked as though it had seen times, and which was dirty. Stains on the floor, sockets around only one side of the bed, taps with little water pressure.

My wife has sinus troubles so we asked to be moved to a room which did not have the same issues. We were offered a room on the other side of the hotel which had not been modernised. That was pretty bleak, and extremely small; we preferred to stick it out with the mould and an open door to the balcony to dilute the smell.

As others have said, there are (much) better hotels on the same street. The Exhibition area has several new hotels, cheaper than the Condado Plaza, and without the problems associated with it. I would not recommend it, and will not visit again.

Even though PR is just starting to get back on its feet after Maria and then the pandemic, this hotel is doing an excellent job of taking care of their guests. The General Manager of this property is one of the GREATEST GM’s of any Hilton property I have ever visited as a diamond member for 8 years! She called my cell number at 11:00 pm at night because she knew the tire in my rented Escalade popped and I was stranded in San Juan until very late. She was so concerned that she offered to send someone from the hotel to pick me up. I was amazed and stunned that a GM could be so hands on with her guests. Her attitude shows in every member of her staff that goes out of their way to make you feel very special. I also liked the extra protection they took during these times. There was hand sanitizer everywhere, they took your temperature every time you entered, sprayed hand sanitizer on your hands every time you entered, and everyone including the guests wore masks and practiced social distancing. The room was even sanitized and sealed with a sticker letting us know. Staying there I had no worries about getting Covid. I felt like I was at home. When in San Juan, you MUST visit this hotel! I can’t wait until zafarse the pandemic when this hotel is 100 percent operational so I can go back and have an even better time! Thank you Ms. Toko! Keep up the great job!

Absolute crappy rooms. They are horrible. The bathroom is tiny, you can barely open the shower door without hitting the toilet, the bed sucks and has no boxspring (it is sitting on a wood platform, the internet is almost unusable, the service at check in was horrible and Hilton should be embarrassed to call this a Hilton. It is by far the worst Hilton I have ever stayed in, and that is from a Diamond Member. Check in was ridiculous. They would not upgrade my room to ocean view because they said they were sold out (they were not) instead I got a lagoon view which was actually nice but had a huge section of roof to look over first. Rooms are small, dated, lack furnishings, not very clean feeling and OLD. It this was a low end motel for $39 a night I'd say its about right, but several hundred a night? Ridiculous. Valet service was fine, $23 a night. Restaurant was horrid for both breakfast and dinner. I had breakfast twice, and they asked for my "coupons", which I never got. I had to go back down to the front desk to ask for the coupons. She vanished for about 10 minutes and brought back a whole stack of them all filled out, including mine - I wonder how many others didn't get this. It really didn't matter as the included continental was a few pieces of toast, muffin or bagel, old fruit, watery oatmeal and horrible eggs. Coffee was good though. The Caribe Hilton is nice and the Doubletree is probably the nicest Hilton since they lost the El San Juan property. This place is a dump, skip it!

We arrived for a one night stay on Dec. 31st. I booked this hotel as a former resident of Puerto Rico for many years. I have seen this hotel in it's peak, when there was a casino and several high end restaurants. So much has changed (for the worse). The hotels lobby bar is closed down and the only remnant is a pool table, smack in the lobby. The rooms seem to be in some level of renovation and the bathroom was spectacular but the rest of the rooms seems to be missing furniture. There is a large desk where they have placed a huge LCD TV which takes up the entire space so there is very limited room to open a laptop (if you need to work) and the chair is an old dinning room chair that probably was used in the banquet or conference room.
The door to the balcony is the type used in store fronts, no sliding door, just glass panes and a door with a lock.
The pool bar desperately needs some paint and you can see what was probably a poolside restaurant with only 2-3 tables. It looked like a ghost town.
From the outside you can see chunks of missing plaster on the sides of the building. Yes, I know Hurricane Maria hit there 18 months ago but this is a Hilton. If you are in business and charge top dollar at least maintain the facility.
So if your idea of a 4 star hotel is dinner at Denny's and a drink in the hotel restaurant then this is the place to waste money.
Oh and also, the elevator to get from the parking to the hotel is still not working. I've read some other reviews from early December and it seems it's been out of order for at least a month. Also the escalator that takes you from the M level to Lobby is out of order.
I am including pictures so you can see for yourself.

We were extremely disappointed with this property for many reasons. The temperature in the building was refrigerator level. When I mentioned (more than once) it to employees, they agreed with me and said they couldn't do anything about it. Carpeting in the hallways is soiled and badly worn; one, a tripping hazard on the approach to floor 3 elevators. I noticed one fire door that did not close properly. Room was poorly lit and there was no makeup mirror or any place with a mirror that was well lit enough for the purpose. Shower leaked out onto the bath floor. Rain accumulated on the balcony floor and did not drain off. An escalator was inoperative the entire stay. Breakfast (prepaid) was a meager offering of soupy oatmeal, dried out eggs and stale breads. Fruit was hit or miss. I have had better included breakfasts at economy hotels. Be assured, we were not the only customers who observed these items. The occupancy rate could not have been more than 20%. Given that fact, I also wonder why, as a Hilton Honor member, I was not offered a free upgrade? The week before we arrived at the property, I tried to contact this hotel to get assurances that the recent seismic activity did not affect the hotel. 2 voice mail messages and an email were ignored. It was only after I contacted Hilton directly and complained that I received an email. Despite this hotel, we enjoyed Puerto Rico and will likely return. But we will stay at another brand.

Melanie D: The "beach" is open to the public and is small. It gets very crowded on the weekend. The body of water is a cove and you are not directly in the typical ocean type crashing waves, etc. environment like most people would think of as the "beach" and the view is of other hotels. There are chairs and umbrellas available. I was disappointed.
