We loved our 4 night stay at the Doubletree in San Juan! The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, especially valet, front desk, housekeeping and the restaurant team at Cafe Pierre- we felt at home. We ate at the restaurant several times and got room service; we enjoyed the food and found it to be a reasonable price point. You can walk to the Condado district in about 15 minutes- the beach is walkable but we did also use the shuttle to the beach which was very convenient- everyone at their beach club was awesome. We did walk to the art museum which is about 2 blocks. There is a Starbucks and several other restaurants within walking distance in addition to what is offered on property; also a take one leave one library and a homemade ice cream shop. Housekeeping service was always extremely timely and well done, absolutely perfect. Really amazing hospitality, thank you so much to the whole team. :)

We came here for our honeymoon, and it was the perfect choice. Our room was exceptionally clean, and housekeeping left us an adorable set of towel swabs and a heart of rose petals on the bed. The bathroom door is a piece of sliding glass with no seals, so if there are any secrets in your marriage, there won’t be anymore! The shower had a bathtub faucet or ceiling showerhead only, and the water pressure is not very high from the showerhead. The bathtub is big though, and it was very easy to use the faucet to rinse hair. The fridge was ample for leftovers and waters, but did not have a freezer section. The in-room microwave was also nice to have. All of the staff throughout our stay was so kind and welcoming. The beach area was very empty despite being public, and having the chairs, towels, and umbrellas there made the whole trip so much easier than any other beach trip we’ve taken. The waves were pretty rough even for us seasoned surf swimmers, so I’m glad we didn’t bring any small kids. The beach is at Parque Del Indio and there are not as many restaurants or hotels there (but the hotel restaurant does deliver room service to the beach). The pools were clean, towels always very stocked, and the temperature of the water was perfect. The self-parking is a little confusing and the tickets didn’t work reliably, but the staff was helpful in making it work. We walked for dinner and lunch, and the 24/7 market across the street made it very easy to never go hungry. Best part is the real Starbucks next door if you have a specific drink you love (most hotels only have We Proudly Brew modified menus). We would absolutely stay here again!

Very nice staff, restaurant on-site, small chocolatier shop in lobby with some essential items as well, mandatory daily resort fee of $45 per day for shuttle to the beach (we did not use). WiFi. Rooms need some refurbishing. Pool area is nice but pool is unheated. There is a hot tub, game table, cabana, towels, ample seating by the pool. Uber is easily available. I would recommend the hotel for a stay in San Juan as long as you don’t mind Uber’ing around. Not much in the surrounding area of the hotel: some shops, Starbucks nearby, Bebo’s Cafe (great local eatery) nearby, grocery store nearby. On-site parking available but I think it’s a daily fee (not sure as we didn’t use the parking). On-site restaurant (we did not try). We were there for a cruise. I don’t think I can recommend it for a cruise hotel. Hard to get early check-in or late check-out which you need as a cruiser because the ship sometimes boards you late and definitely disembarks you early. No complimentary shuttle to the cruise port. Breakfast is not included in the rate. Hotel staff is nice and will hold your luggage while you wait for a room to become available. Daily water in the room, safe for valuables in room, refrigerator, clean, however it looks like all the maintenance is focused in the combined areas of the hotel and less in the rooms. So, all in all, nice for a San Juan vacation but less useful for cruising.

As beautiful as the Christmas Tree is here in the hotel. As a guest today Dec 15 2023, the normal rain shower is currently happening ,thus making the hotel rooms very cold for me. I reported to the Manager Omar , he said “ being in a tropical location the hotel has no heating system”. In all my 40 years of traveling , living in countries at the Equator have I heard of such a thing neither had DoubleTree Customer Service Manager. For my troubles let’s say since Omar never said one way or another offered to waive $90 or to move me into a suite , I declined the offer since that doesn’t warm me up as I sit in a very cold room. I’d suggest if you’re going to visit beautiful San Juan , check another hotel chain incase the weather drops and that the hotel has heating in the guest room.

Great hotel close to restaurants and beach. Although it’s not ON THE BEACH they will shuttle you over and they have their own private beach with chairs, towels and umbrellas. When you’re ready to go back, just tell the beach attendant and they will call the shuttle. Everyone was VERY nice! Bottles water was free, you just had to ask for it. Hotel was much nicer than we expected a Doubletree to be. We stayed 2 nights prior to our cruise and hotel was only a 10-15 min drive from the port. Ubers are very easy to get around town. The rooms and bathrooms need to be taken care of better. The showers are gross with black mold and grime in between all of those tiny tiles. Also the “beach club” area needs to be manned by someone pleasant, since the guy in charge of the chairs and umbrellas had a horrible attitude.
Also there’s no service from the hotel restaurant at the beach so I had to Uber to Supermax from the beach (which was conveniently across the street from the hotel) to buy a cooler, ice, drinks, vodka, water, tortilla chips, salsa, fruit, plates, cups, forks, and salad to make my own experience. I shared with some others around me who were disappointed as well. The guy who drove us to the beach club was very nice and super helpful with recommendations on LGBT friendly areas and clubs for my girlfriend and I to go to.
The location was within 5-10 minute walking distance of a lot of restaurants and bars, and a cheap Uber ride to old San Juan. The pool area was nice and well maintained but pool service leaves a lot to be desired. Having laundry inside was helpful with washing clothes before returning home to cut down on sandy luggage as well.
The restaurant/bar left a lot to be desired with food choices, flavor, and service at the bar. Luckily there’s lots of other places to go nearby.
For the price I paid however plus resort fee (which is silly because it’s not a resort..) it’s totally not worth it. Just go with another hotel even if you have to pay more so that you’re comfortable.
I am not used to this type of hotel or treatment for a vacation that I spent so much on.

The rooms are very nice and comfortable. It offers various comfort amenities like coffee, water, soap, lotion, hair/conditioner, pool and laundry services along with being in a good location where everything was near if I needed anything. The restaurant food is always delicious although expensive. We get a complementary drink for being frequent flyers. The beds are very nice and I'm always able to get a good night's rest which I don't usually do at home. The staff are very willing and helpful and overall staying in the hotel is consistently a very pleasant experience. Thank you.

The staff was amazing from Brian at the front desk who greeted me with a beautiful smile the wonderful cleaning ladies Maria and Diana on the fourth floor and I cannot forget the amazing Valet gentlemen who always go above and beyond number one on my list was James,Christian,William,And Jason In that order and of course there’s Emmanuel down at the beach by himself works very hard. And of course, the night crew at the front desk Gadiel and V. Unfortunately, the Cafe waitress staff was not much to be desired. The pool area did not lock, clean or up kept. This therefore, I never went in and the charges for the amenities added to our Bill Is ridiculous. You should be able to use the pool in the hotel that you’re staying in and parking in the garage as a guest of the hotel we should at least get it at a discounted rate. I understand a regular rate of a public but not for your guest other than that everything was great oh yeah and thanks for the cookies. 🍪 🍪🍪🍪

As a Gold Hilton Honors member, I was deeply disappointed with my recent stay at this budget-friendly hotel. The front desk staff were notably unwelcoming, failing to greet guests and seeming uninterested in providing service. When I checked in for two rooms, I did not receive the customary cookies, and my inquiry about an upgrade was dismissed. Stephanie and Omar, in particular, were rude and condescending. Omar’s attitude during a self-parking issue made me feel as if I had never parked in a garage before.
In contrast, Williams and Jason at the valet were outstanding, providing a much-needed welcoming presence.
There was also a lack of accurate information about the breakfast hours, even from the manager, which added to the overall confusion and dissatisfaction.
The restaurant is overpriced, and the buffet food was not refreshed regularly. The rooms are small, and the bathrooms’ glass doors offer no privacy.
On a positive note, the beach is conveniently close, and the pool area with waterfalls and a hot tub is nice. However, the negative experiences overshadowed these amenities.
Additionally, I noticed a concerning issue of colorism at this hotel. If you are of a darker complexion and do not speak Spanish, it might be worth considering other accommodations.
Overall, while there were some redeeming qualities, the poor service and unwelcoming atmosphere lead me to rate this hotel two stars.

My sister, brother-in-law, and I had a great experience when we stayed at Doubletree by Hilton San Juan. Staff was extremely friendly and always greeted us when we encountered each other. They were easy to speak with and contact whenever we had any questions or concerns. When we reported an issue with our room, just as a precaution not expecting anything out of of it, the manager and staff followed up with us, provided us with an update, allowed us to change our rooms, and gave us a complimentary meal. We were not expecting this at all! We felt very welcomed and at peace here. We would definitely book here again for any future trips to San Juan, Puerto Rico. I would also like to add that everything is centrally located here. From the hotel you can walk down Calle LoĂza and try different restaurants and even walk down to La Placita.
