We just got back to the states from a 5 day luxury stay at Dream Catcher. What an amazing place. I first want to express my deepest gratitude to the amazing staff that went above and beyond to make our honey moon stay a dream come true. We stayed in the biggest room on the top floor called Tropicalia which has a sick outdoor area that includes a gi-normous outdoor tub and dual outdoor showers!! We loved the space in general and the private hamock we had was so lovely. Through the wonderful staff, we were able to book an excursion to El Yunque Rainforest in Old San Juan, a couples massage in our hotel room and a private sunset yoga session on the beach!!! The hotel also has a private chef who makes some delicious meals. They only serve breakfast at.a really affordable but there are plenty of dinner and lunch options around. The hotel offers coffee and different types of soothing teas. My favorite was the hibiscus tea that they had in dispenser that was available 24/7. In addition, the hotel is located in a very nice and safe area which offers tons of food options.
Some of our favorites that were walking distance include: Coffeetera, Lela's, Kasalta, Pirilo, Raices,
Also, old San Juan is only a 15 minute car drive so you can get an Uber to explore. Some of our fav's in Old San Juan is Barrachina ( get the pina coladas, they are amazing ), Marmalade- 5 course meal $135/pperson, totally worth the price, Birra &Empanadas, Don Ruiz Coffee ( try the turmeric/espresso latte. It is heavenly.
For dancing: hit up La Factoria, it has multiple rooms with different music vibe so if you love salsa, bachata, and good latin beats, you'll love this spot.
Cannon Club ( Piano Bar ) - great cocktails and great atmosphere.

This was an oasis for me. Tired of the normal hotel I chose DREAMCATCHER. Loved it. People are very friendly. Near the beach. Near some nice restaurants. But the real joy in the morning is a fabulous vegan breakfast. Several choices. Good prices. And a great chef with a wonderful personality. That’s the word -“personality.” The whole place had personality that I quickly appreciated. Love them. And I look forward to my next visit.

My wife and I loved our stay at Dreamcatcher! When our travel plans changed due to a flight delay, Dreamcatcher staff helped us ensure that we could check in late - even after midnight. Our room was exceptionally clean and comfortable - we loved the natural beauty of the property. We especially appreciated Dreamcatcher's convenient location, as we were two blocks off the beach and a quick (and cheap) Uber trip away from both the airport and Viejo San Juan. There were plenty of restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance, too. Staff were attentive and immensely helpful with our requests and questions, and they connected us with a guide for a Hidden Rivers tour of El Yunque that we loved. We would happily stay at Dreamcatcher again and highly recommend it!

We enjoyed the tranquil neighborhood location of the property and the convenience of walking or catching an Uber. The property boasted a home-like atmosphere, and the staff, especially Dixy, provided exceptional local insights.
However, our stay began frustratingly. We arrived from California around 1:30 PM, knowing check-in was at 4:00 PM. After lunch, as recommended by the manager, we settled into our room at 4. Soon after, a room mix-up call necessitated an immediate move, disrupting our relaxation. The manager offered complimentary breakfast for the inconvenience.
Unfortunately, our new room, the "ROMANTIC ROOM," faced the back street and suffered from a view and smell of overflowing garbage bins. By day, the room was acceptable, but at night, a persistent odor, a faulty water heater, and relentless mosquitoes rendered the outdoor space and bathtub unusable. Despite reporting the garbage issue, the bins remained in place after a cleanup effort.
Should we return, we would steer clear of the "Romantic Room." Although uniquely designed, it's only practical for sleeping while fully covered, as any exposed skin attracts mosquitoes—a significant drawback. Additionally, the bathtub in the adjoining room was unusable; the water wouldn't heat up, and the drain failed to seal properly. Moreover, the bugs and mosquitoes made it quite unpleasant. During the day, staff park cars and you can hear them coming and going throughout the morning and day. I'd recommend avoiding the "Romantic Room!"

Dear Shane, Thank you for sharing your experience with us, and we appreciate your kind words about our team and property. We apologize for the initial mix-up with your room and any inconvenience it caused during your arrival. We're glad to hear that you appreciated the complimentary breakfast offered as a gesture of goodwill. Regarding the issues you encountered with the Romantic Suite, we apologize for any disappointment and inconvenience. While we have no control over external factors such as overflowing garbage bins, we did our best to address the issue promptly. We understand the frustration caused by the persistent odor and have taken measures to prevent such occurrences in the future. We also apologize for the inconvenience caused by mosquitoes. Despite our bi-weekly fumigation efforts, it's challenging to entirely eliminate mosquitoes due to our natural surroundings and the tropical climate. We provide mosquito nets and repellent upon request to help mitigate this issue. Additionally, we regret if there were any issues with the water heater and drain in your room. Our front desk team and virtual concierge are available 24/7 to address any maintenance issues, and we could have sent our maintenance team to quickly resolve these during your stay if we had been made aware of them. We apologize for any disturbances caused by staff parking their cars during the day and have taken measures to prevent this from happening again in the future. Thank you for your valuable feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for a more enjoyable stay in the future.

Things I Liked • The hotel has a very zen, naturalistic vibe • The bed was comfy and the room was clean and smelled great • The staff is very nice and accommodating • The hotel is a couple of blocks from the beach • The neighborhood is nice and safe. I walked around in the day and night and never felt uneasy • Loved that they had beach umbrellas available in addition to beach chairs • Loved that they had an area to shower and change after check-out, in case your flight is in the late afternoon or night
Things to Consider/Recommendations • I selected the Run of the House option when booking, which was the cheapest option since they give you whichever room is available at check-in that has a private shower. However, I had no idea the room would be so tiny. The outdoor shower area was large, but the room itself would not be comfortable for more than one person. • The outdoor shower only had one small dull bulb, so showering at night was not ideal. Keep in mind that critters also come out at night, so you may want to select a room with an indoor shower. • While the neighborhood is nice and safe it is residential so there is no nightlife and most restaurants close between 7:00pm-10:00pm. If you are looking to go out at night be prepared to take an Uber to Old San Juan or Condado. • The wifi was hit or miss. The wifi signal strength was strong in the patio area, but inside the room I went from 4 bars to 2 bars. • They don't give free bottles of water in the room but there is fruit water dispenser in the lobby
All in all this hotel is great, but is ideal for people looking for a quiet hotel to spend most of their time at the beach and don't mind taking transportation to other areas of San Juan.

Response from The Dreamcatcher Puerto Rico, General Manager at Dreamcatcher by DW - Adults Only
Responded Apr 24, 2022
Dear Sheree, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your overall stay at The Dreamcatcher and that you particularly appreciated our excellent location close to the beach and the atmosphere at the hotel. We are happy to offer our guests a relaxing environment surrounded by tropical flora. We are excited to announce that we are currently remodeling the room you stayed in. Once completed, the room will have a bigger private outdoor area and a full outdoor bathroom, making way for more interior space. We are surprised to read that you thought our neighborhood had no nightlife, as we are located a couple of minutes from Calle Loiza, which offers one of Puerto Rico's best restaurants and nightlife scenes. The digital guest guide we send to all of our guests contains a lot of useful tips on our favorite restaurants and bars in our neighborhood. Given that Puerto Rico has a tropical environment and that our hotel is surrounded by lots of fauna and flora, some animals are likely to appear while staying with us. While that cannot be entirely prevented, we fumigate weekly to keep some of them at a minimum. Lastly, as you correctly stated in your review, we provide all of our guests with free water from a dispenser in the lobby. We are proud to be an environmentally friendly hotel and we encourage everyone to reduce the use of plastic, starting from the water bottles. Thank you again for your feedback, we hope to have the chance to host you again in the future.

DreamCatcher is a very friendly and welcoming small hotel in a great location. The surrounding neighborhood is beautiful and peaceful. The hotel is serene with lots of tropical plants everywhere, soothing music and incense, and a pleasant and helpful staff. The Romantic Suite was comfortable and full of light. We especially liked the luxurious stone tub and rain shower.
Our mornings at DreamCatcher were delightful. We did yoga on the beach each day led by one of the hotel’s expert yoga instructors, Esme and Rihanna, and then enjoyed a delicious vegetarian breakfast in the hotel courtyard.
The beach was surprisingly uncrowded during the week. Swimming was really nice, except for the one day it was too rough to go in. Even then, watching the folks strolling the beach and kitesurfing was lots of fun. There’s plenty of shade in the heat of the day, so you don’t really need an umbrella.
There are many good restaurants within an easy walk of the hotel. These were our favorites: La Cueva Del Mar Berlingeri El Tap Dashi Ramen Pirilo Pizza Rustica Donostia
We liked these places in Old San Juan (a short Uber ride away): Bacaro Anita La Mamma del Gelato
We felt safe at the hotel and walking around Ocean Park, Condado, and Old San Juan. Most of the people in these neighborhoods speak way better English than we speak Spanish, so communication was not a problem.

This was the perfect place for a relaxing solo trip. I previously stayed at the Dreamcatcher in 2018 and it had the same magical, tropical retreat vibes I remembered. The rooms are unique and charming. I stayed in the Poet room this time which worked well, though I like the outdoor showers and patios of some of the other rooms. The property is very serene at night with just the sound of coquis. There was some noise outside my room during the day (I think construction from a neighbor), but I didn’t hear this in other areas. I enjoyed breakfast/brunch by Victor every morning and took advantage of the coffee available all day. The beach is two blocks away, an easy walk. Old San Juan is a quick Uber ride away. The staff was friendly and always available at the reception desk. I stored my bags by the desk prior to check in and after check out with no problem. There is a bathroom and shower that can be used before check in/after check out which was useful after time at the beach. I hope to return for another trip.

Everything about this experience was thoughtful. We enjoyed the room and hotel design and also appreciated the experiences offered by the property.
One thing that caught us by surprise was that the breakfast menu lacked any prices altogether, so we did not find out what we would be charged for food till checkout. We hope that property can be transparent regarding prices.
We experienced water spilling into our outdoor area due to clogged drains from the unit above us. The property management acknowledged and comped one of our breakfast charges to make up for the inconvenience.
We feel that this property will continue to provide exemplary service and would definitely be coming back to other DW properties.
Once the food prices are addressed to be more transparent, this is a 10/10 wholly recommend place for your stay in Puerto Rico.

Stayed for four nights in early June. Exceeded expectations. A beautiful property in a residential area, a far cry from the Margaritaville themed resorts, yet a two minute walk to the beach. This beach is used mostly by locals, kitesurfers, and wingfoilers, and was not crowded, even on a sunny Saturday. The hotel provides beach towels and chairs. Old San Juan is less than a ten dollar uber ride away, but the local neighborhood is fun too.
We most enjoyed having our own private deck area with hammock, seating area, and mini fridge. It is magical to sit out there and listen to a thunderstorm roll in. At night you can hear the sounds of the coquis, and in the morning, the birds. I am embarrassed to say, I suspected it was a recording because it was so perfect. The flowers and plants smell amazing, especially after a rainstorm. Despite the lush vegetation, somehow there are almost no bugs.
The concierge, Dixie, was so helpful. She gave us vegetarian restaurant recommendations and was very welcoming. We ate breakfast there two mornings. It was excellent and the free coffee is also very good. Compliments to the chef!
The bed was comfy and the A/C heat pump worked great in the >90 degree heat. At first, my partner was leery of the outdoor shower/toilet. We quickly came to find it was preferable to an indoor bathroom in that sort of climate and environment, and it felt private.
Truly a jungle oasis!

My stay at the DreamCatcher was amazing! It is a stunning guesthouse alive with verdant green at every corner and a colorful and eclectic aesthetic. Having a beautiful large outdoor shower and a private patio with a hammock were lovely additions to the lodgings; along with the Buddha statues you can find all around and a tasty 3-course vegan friendly breakfast - this place truly became a sanctuary. Steps away from Ocean Park’s beach which I’m convinced was the best idea ever because this beach is not too crowded and as soon as you get there you can see that it is a beach for locals; you can listen to some local music since someone will definitely have a radio, have a few drinks, and enjoy the beautiful water!
Having access to small group tours through the hotel is honestly one of the key touches that made this vacation special! I will never go on a large tour again! Smaller tours are really an experience where you get to make friends and truly learn about your surroundings and enjoy yourself without feeling rushed or anxious. The tour guides the DreamCatcher works with are also amazing and I suggest you check with them directly about their tours outside of the ones hosted by the hotel! Kevin is so full of energy and enthusiasm and will show you a nice place to grab a bite after your tour! Pablo is so chill and has the best conversation. He plays great music during the car ride which was a nice backdrop to the gorgeous view we got on the way to the waterfalls. He also took amazing photos of everyone! He’s very kind sharing his personal fruits with us that he scored from a roadside fruit stand and he so kindly returned my phone charger that I left in his van right away to the hotel. I’m so grateful to both your guides as the tours were really a highlight to the trip!
