This is a beachfront hotel and we rated it four stars because we’ve stayed at 5 star hotels and this one doesn’t quite reach that level because they’re lacking that really personal touch- like staff thar calls you by name. That said,, this place is great. We booked a suite which included a kitchenette with an ocean view and balcony. All of these features were worth it! We cooked breakfast every morning in the room. There are at least two grocery stores within walking distance and the Walgreens and CVS down the street have expanded grocery areas. The kitchenette was well equipped with all the basic things we needed including pans, cooking utensils, a cutting board, a toaster. The fridge and freezer were large and worked well. There is a large pool area right off the large lobby thar is more “hip” but we enjoyed the smaller pool that faced the ocean. There is a fairly large fitness center. One member of my party travels with a mobility scooter and the resort was accommodating. We needed a shower bench and they brought one up within five minutes of our request! The facility is older but it is well maintained. Try the guacamole and chips at the pool bar. It’s outstanding - maybe the best thing we had to eat on the island - both fortunate and sad! …
This was one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had in my life! Every inch of the resort inside and out was immaculate and the staff was exceptionally friendly, pleasant and helpful. Jonathan who worked the door by the luggage area, always greeted us with a friendly smile and provided helpful suggestions for local sightseeing and getting around. When we needed a taxi Jonathan had one for us in under a minute! Check in and check out was simple, fast and pleasant. The housekeeping staff cleaned impeccably. They're also attentive because they noticed I finished all the coffee pods in my room so the next day they left me a few extras. It was those little extra touches that made our trip extra relaxing and enjoyable. The location was perfect. It was a few minute ride to Old San Juan and it's right on Condado beach which is gorgeous. The casino inside the hotel was lots of fun and every time we went in the security guard at the door smiled and told us to have a great time and wished us good luck. Everything about the hotel was 5 stars and every employee went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable and special. I highly recommend La Concha to anyone considering a visit to San Juan!…
Check in took 30 minutes because they did not have our reservation. We were given a room that was next to the lobby with loud music playing all night long until 3 AM. At 5 AM other guests came back and yelled and smoked marijuana. It took 3 phone calls to get someone to answer the front desk and security was never actually sent. Absolutely not the standard that I would have expected from a Renaissance.
... then this is the hotel for you. It is not the hotel for you if you want to sleep at night. Between the nightclub that blasts music from 10p-4a on the weekends to the random people milling about the beach at all hours screaming and carrying on, this hotel is not the idyllic picture of tranquility it may seem. Maybe it's just the oceanfront rooms with this problem. Other than that, it has a lovely pool and lobby bar and is nice. My room wasn't as clean as I would have hoped. Some of the furniture and pillows needed to be cleaned better. The beach is pretty but you can't swim there. Service was decent and polite. Elite members get various perks which can only be used during the week or exchanged for a measly 100 points. Didn't bother checking out the casino but one exists (it's an MGM joint).…
As someone who was in post-graduate education until 2 years ago, I didn’t have much experience with the resort life as an adult before this trip (because I was a broke student). With that being said, I’m not sure I want to experience any such life again if it’s not at La Concha on Condado Beach in San Juan. I have almost entirely positive things to say about our time in Puerto Rico in general, but specifically at La Concha. -The food and beverages, although on the pricey side, were all done very well - it was really a “you get what you pay for” experience, and we never considered anything we ordered to not be worth what we paid. -The service - whether it was at the front desk, the lobby bar, or the on the beach - was second to none; everyone was so friendly and accommodating, and made a point to make us feel like it was our time to relax. -The resort itself is absolutely beautiful - our room was simple but elegant, and the entrance, lobby, and pool areas were all of 5 star quality (without the 5 star stuffiness). The lobby, particularly at night, was definitely our favorite part of the property. -The beach setup was ideal, as the resort’s beach is quite large and has a lot of chairs and umbrellas, and is essentially private. Additionally, and as stated above, the service on the beach was impeccable. -The resort is within walking distance of a dozen+ authentic Puerto Rican restaurants, a few great coffee shops, some shopping, as well as plenty of other restaurants serving various cuisine, from casual taco shacks to upscale spots like STK. We did leave the property several times to explore and try local fare, but we loved the resort itself so much that we never truly felt like leaving. The few cons we had were as follows: -There was a DJ in the lobby bar on Saturday night who played until about 3 AM, and as our room wasn’t far from the lobby, this was evident to us. With that being said, my fiancé and I are both very light sleepers, so the noise may not have bothered others. -The hours of the restaurants and the dining options at the resort were more limited than we would have hoped. Serafina is the resort’s marquee restaurant, but as we live in New York and have several Serafina locations in our close vicinity, this wasn’t that appealing of an option for us (again, that is mostly unique to us). Other than that, the dining options after 6 PM were very limited. Just like with the DJ, it’s certainly not something that would keep us from going back. All and all we absolutely loved our time at La Concha and will certainly be back.…
The hotel is beautiful! The pools and beach are lovely! But the food and drink prices are outlandish and while the weekdays have been fine, a DJ has been playing very loud rave music all day and night since Friday evening. It's now Saturday night close to midnight. It's been 30+ hours of non-stop window-shaking music. Don't come here on a weekend if you're trying to rest or have meaningful conversions with your sisters. If you want a non-stop party, this might be just the place for you.
The Condado area is very noisy. That said, the La Concha is a lovely resort. I was in the Suite Tower with a full kitchen, couch, bankette and table, and lots of storage space, including a large closet with a safe. There was an iPod dock with a radio that did not work. No USB port in the room. The bathroom was large with a soaking tub and good grab-bar placement. The bathroom had plenty of counter space. A decent-sized balcony with a table and chairs. I had partial ocean view, which meant city sounds pouring in, but a city view room would have been even louder. The lobby is huge and gorgeous and a hub of activity. The grounds are lovely, with a number of pools, including a small adult pool area. The main pool area is multi-level with little waterfalls and 2 hot tubs. The beach area is nice with chairs and umbrellas available. The beach (which is public) is about 1/2 mile long and very walkable. Solera by the pool is excellent for drinks and food. Aroma is good for take-away coffee but the pastries are not great. The Loft has a $44 buffet breakfast that was just so-so. There's a sushi bar in the lobby that I did not try but looked great. I also did not try Serafina (Italian). The one thing that disturbed me was the astronomical 18% "resort fee," which is $72 per night for a $400 room, the highest I have ever encountered anywhere. Outrageous. A big plus was that the staff were universally helpful, pleasant, warm, and efficient. That really made a difference.…
Wonderful stay! Everyone we encountered was wonderful to us, from check in to housekeeping to pool and beach and restaurants. It was magical! Breakfast buffet is stellar! Lunch and service at the pools was stellar! Rooms were lovely. Hard to believe the hotel is so big because the friendly staff treated us like friends and family! Edgard at front desk was lovely to us, as was everyone we met! Staff not serving our area went out of their way to greet us when they saw us again! We ate breakfast and lunch at La Concha and dinners at the amazing Puerto Rican restaurants around San Juan. I was truly shocked at check out to learn the hotel even had so many rooms. The service is akin to a small boutique accommodation. The beauty, culture, and friendliness of PR is the best!
I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. We got an ocean view room with a side balcony with an ocean and street view. The ocean side is pretty well lit during the night. We just left the blinds open for a night light of sorts but I would consider the curtains to be black out if that is more your style. The hotel can be noisy but I think thats just a PR thing. The street is just very active until late. I did not love the food at the hotel but I just generally didn’t love the food in PR so factor that in. The restaurant service is VERY slow but also seems to be an island thing. While food service is slow the crew working at the beach is outstanding. You walk out to a clean and beautiful beach. The staff is ready to set you up loungers, tables and umbrellas. And of course provide towels. They were very nice. There were also boogie boards that appeared to be ones you could borrow. They will also bring food and drinks to the beach. When we went to the beach, we never felt like leaving. The location is on a fairly busy street and you are in the city so it has city noise. But it also means there are local eateries. We enjoyed Pina Loka with the outstanding pina coladas and smoothies. We also loved Pannes and Kabanas. And Waffler Avenue. The room was well appointed. We had two tvs and the AC was very good. The floors are mostly a solid flooring with a big rug. No complaints about the bedding or mattress. The pull out couch mattress was a pretty nice one even. Plenty of outlets. The cleaning crew were like ninjas. They came in for a main cleaning and then would come back when we went to dinner to tidy - like empty the trash and freshen towels. It was odd to me initially but they did a nice job. They also replenished our bottled water very regularly. There are tons of scooter rentals out front but you can also rent bikes for 2 free hours from the hotel. We had a delayed flight and while sitting on one of the many hotel patios a staff member brought us cool scented towels just because. I would stay here again if coming to San Juan. But if coming back to PR I would want to explore more of this island as well.…
It is an older hotel but good fir small conferences, not large. The exhibit hall is broken up in 3 areas and you basically have a hard time seeing anyone. It’s across the hotel and not going to be a true conference experience if you are a large conference. The food is excellent. I was very impressed.
