My stay at the Hotel Meliá Century in Ponce was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with exceptional warmth and kindness by all the staff. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the city, within walking distance of the main tourist and cultural attractions.

The rooms are elegant and comfortable, with decor that perfectly combines classic style with modern touches.

We really enjoyed the unique antique architecture. We also found the center-town location to be super convenient and right at the heart of lots of fun restaurants and sightseeing. The staff was very nice and I liked the espresso cappuccino available at 7:00 in the morning in the hotel restaurant.

Where do we start. Well trying to find the hotel you will be going in circles on these one way streets, the hotel has its own parking lot as well. Like most reviewers said the hotels lobby is definitely what has been remodeled and made to look appealing. The hotel staff overall is very friendly and nice! We first got situated into a small room that was probably 8x8 feet had a little window with almost no light coming in, the tv in that room looked like it was from 1999 and the bathroom was definitely never remodeled. We asked for an upgrade and to our surprise we were given one. We were put on the third floor and when asked if the elevator works they said no, from the reviews on here the elevator has not worked for over a year. They boast on little plaques how it’s the original elevator blah blah... but it doesn’t work. The rooms are very bland nothing special, the beds you can feel the springs. In the mornings no matter on what floor you’re on you will hear noise. The breakfast at the restaurant on the main floor is meh, go out and support another small business

This place is not suitable for guests. Starting with no comfortable parking. You have to leave your name and phone on a piece of paper on the glass to be called at any time, if any guests want to leave. The lift is for two people only and is not suitable for people with disabilities (e.g. wheelchairs). In the pool, the floor area as well as the furniture are full of mushroom and mojo. The structure of the building is very neglected. They have nice furniture in some areas but the building is very destroyed. In the lobby area there is a tobacco shop where there are smokers most of the time and the smell floods the area and goes up to the rooms. The beds are too small, not queen, as stated in the reservation. They are also very hard and the pillows terrible, a sheet in bed and in the closet a small "fleece blanket". In the bathroom, the toilet lid is broken and the paint is peeled. Bathroom wall slabs filled with mold and bathtub is dangerous. It is painted with wall paint, which makes it slippery, the floor of the bathtub sounds like it will crack when you stand on it (with weight of children and adults) and all the paint is lifted so it sticks on your feet.

I definitely do not recommend this place and should not receive guests until a good job of conservation is done in it.

It's the worst place I've ever stayed. The experience was disappointing. This place is not suitable for visitors. The deterioration of the building, no availability for food, the room has humidity because the bath water exits to the entrance hallway. They did not ask once if we wanted cleaning in the room and we stayed from Wednesday to Sunday, with only one towel initially. My husband had to find towels as we were asking for two days to bring us towels. Cable service is nonexistent, fatal. To feed ourselves we had to go out to the restaurants surrounding the "hotel" because there is not even a coffee there. Mold is everywhere. I attach photos for you to see the evidence. The place is disappointing.
If you booked through any travel apps, you would request a refund, but book on their platform. We tried to get in some other hotel but due to the activities scheduled in the surrounding towns, everything was booked.

I would like to know how much the people that rated this hotel higher than 5 Star got paid for their deceiving reviews. Please look at my photos. Something I could not photographed was the awful smell in the room. The hotel, room, furniture are old, dingy and DIRTY. This property needs to be closed and completely remodeled to take advantage of the awesome location and what Ponce has to offer. Guests are being deceived by outdated photos in the website and okay lobby, pool and front. The parking and back of the hotel are scary and not safe. This property needs to be brought to the standards of what guests are deserving: a safe, clean and comfortable environment to rest. I would like to personally ask the management of this property if they will pay 1 cent to stay in a room like this. Shame on you!

I love historic hotels so was excited to stay but incredibly disappointed.
Sheet had a stain on it, bathroom was dirty, “balcony” was minuscule (one small chair sideways) and the a/c dripped all over it (totally not worth the extra cost). Also an outside room meant incredibly loud street cleaning and water filling for more than an hour at 4:30am.
This place needs a major cleaning and update of courtyard furniture that is severely stained.
Hope improvements can happen but would discourage anyone from staying as is.

This is the oldest running hotel in Puerto Rico and I am saddened to say that the administrators of this historic jewel are not doing anything helpful to conserve this place in a proper way. I stayed here transfered from The Fox Hotel (a real mess, btw) and I was not expecting luxury or shiny modern rooms, but it seemed like the housekeeping staff was non existing. The carpet in the room was full of broken patches. it seemed the curtains had not seen a laundry in years, the sheets were stained and thin, the bathtub was spotty and the bathroom window did not properly close. The planter of the third floor served as a huge ashtray. The parking was always open with no valet staff keeping some order. Elevator was out of service. The cigar smoke from the people hanging in lounge bar of the first floor filled the stairs and halls with the smell. The furniture in the pool area was broken. For some unexplainable reason the hot water worked randomly, and there was a morning that the pressure was so low it was impossible to have a shower. This place is a landmark from Ponce but the Misla Hospitality Group is not taking it seriously.

The most horrible experience we have ever had in a hotel. First, the room, completely deteriorated, old and dirty. Moldy bathroom with dirty curtains covered in lipstick, very small with hair on the floor. The day we stayed it started to rain and there was a strong smell of sewage in the corridors, they had to put buckets to collect the water from all the leaks. We had to leave the hotel because you couldn't stand between the smell and the slippery wet floors. The staff never came to clean the room and we had to go ask for towels. There was no soap and hand towels. I complained with the expedia application and the manager wrote me giving me some continental breakfasts and that they were going to bring me a towel and soap, they never came. When I went to pick up the breakfast tickets, the girl at the front desk sarcastically told me "Ahh, you're the one who complained", to which I had the opportunity to tell her how bad the hotel is. Do not pay for breakfast, it is not worth what it costs, they give you coffee in a foam cup. In the end, I do not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. Stay away from this depressing Hotel.

This hotel was beautiful in its day, but it has become rundown. We paid $190/night for a room with no hot water, no refrigerator, no washcloths, no coffee and pilled sheets. The air conditioner unit was so loud we could not sleep with it on, but when we turned it off, the room was too hot to let us sleep. The first room assigned to us had not been cleaned. It was obvious that the bed was just as the prior occupants had left it. We didn't receive any housekeeping service during our stay. The hallway carpet was filthy. The room carpet looked better, but I didn't walk on it with bare feet. The lobby and bar areas were beautiful and the location is great, but that was not
enough to offset the negatives.
The desk clerk said that new management is taking over. I hope they will have the resources to restore this hotel to its prior glory.

Is your outdoor pool heated? What temperature is the water? Thank you.

Normally pools in PR are not heated because the temperature year-round is around 85 degrees. I do not think this particular pool is heated but I believe that it would not need to be heated.
