Amazing place! It is a piece of heaven on earth; the accommodations are charming, the views are amazing, the details incredible, the coffee plantation is perfection. Kurt and staff are just son hospitable, professional and caring. The coffee trees plush the bananas, breadfruit tree, pomarrosa trees, oranges, lemon, grapefruit and more makes the Hacienda a forest of food. This is a well thought project. Kudos to Kurt, his wife and team for making our experience a memorable one.

Spent a wonderful night here during a recent trip to Puerto Rico with my wife. The property has stunning views from high up in the mountains and is just a few minutes' drive from Cerro de Punta, the tallest mountain in Puerto Rico (highly recommend hiking to the top if you like mountainous hikes!). We were so inspired by the view from our balcony that we decided to stay and watch the sunset instead of driving into town for dinner. Kurt and Eva were away, but Kevin and Holly took great care of us, waking up early to cook a delicious, fresh, and large breakfast before we set off. Of all the places we stayed in Puerto Rico this was our favorite!

This place is truly a hidden gem! Beautifully landscaped, impeccably furnished, very clean and comfortable. The breakfast is delicious (coffee is a highlight) and we were super comfortable in our little cottage. Kurt was a wealth of information and a super nice guy.

Looking for something new to do in Puerto Rico? Like coffee? Try the Hacienda Pomorrsa for a night or two. Beautiful boutique coffee plantation/B&B located in the mountains north of Ponce. There will be no regrets from your stay. Super clean rooms, excellent breakfast, great hosts and if you choose the coffee tour you will also leave knowing more about coffee than you ever imagined. Kurt and Eva are the owners and take great pride to make sure every guest enjoys their stay. We have been returning for eight years now and still consider our visits to the plantation as the best part of our annual visit to the Island of Puerto Rico.

Everyone in our family of five loved this tour. Kurt is a charming and entertaining guide. The coffee and banana bread he served were delicious. All of us enjoyed learning about how coffee beans are grown, harvested, sorted, skinned, roasted, and brewed. As we left Pomarrosa, my 18 year old son said, "I didn't want to go on this tour, but I'm glad I did. It was really fun."

Kurt provides a truly enjoyable and educational tour of his farm and facilities. It is well worth the trip up WINDY roads for a pleasant afternoon.
This was our first time in the area but we are taking with us appreciation for this place (and coffee!)

This was our first coffee tour ever and we really loved it! We just did the tour and did not stay the night. Everything is neat and clean, and very open. During the first hour, we learned where coffe originated and its history, how it ended up in Puerto Rico and became so popular. Very interesting! We had a good story teller. We then took a tour of the premises, and saw some of the employees working. It is a fairly intensive process to get the bean from tree to package, and to pay a living wage in Puerto Rico as opposed to Guatemala is huge, and so the price goes up on their coffee. Not to mention, they use the best and only he ripe berries so that they have a quality product. We were served fresh coffee(black, no sugar, or milk, cream) and it was amazing! I am not a coffee drinker, except occasionally, and with lots of sugar, and cream, but I actually liked this coffee. I don't want to give away too many details, so you will have to find out why it isn't bitter for yourself, by visiting! They also served us banana bread, homemade coffee jam ($10 per jar-I bought 2) and cappuccinos at the end. (This was all included) Worth the trip into the mountains, be sure to follow there directions, and not your GPS. Also, the bags of coffee you can buy are $17 a bag as of December 2014, and of course this could change. I just wanted to make a note of this so that you may be mentally prepared and have some money set aside for buying some of it. I think the price is reasonable considering that you get what you pay for, and this is a small family business producing delicious gourmet coffee, and paying an honest wage to its employees, instead of paying less than minimum wage under the table, as many, many businesses here in Puerto Rico do. As a local, I understand that you may be able to pay less for another product, but the practices are almost certainly less ethical, less quality. I hope you have a great experience as we did!

I cannot say enough great things about the Hacienda Pomarossa. Kurt and Sebastian are gracious and knowledgeable hosts. We stayed in the smaller of the two houses and it was an absolute delight. The windows in the bedroom overlooked the mountains, the house was decorated with beautiful wall hangings from the family’s travels, cute little homey touches (ladybug embroidered towels, a towel warmer) and even a dominoes table! Also, as a self-professed neat freak, I have to say that this is the cleanest place (hotels and resorts included) I have ever stayed in, in any country. I woke up the morning of my birthday, well rested and energized.

Breakfast was served in a beautiful outdoor enclosure with an amazing view of the mountains. The breakfasts Kurt cooks up are simple, hearty, and delicious. We were treated to an enormous fruit plate, fresh baked bread (with homemade jam!), and eggs and bacon (they have a vegetarian option too), not to mention as much amazing coffee as we wanted. We liked it so much that we ended up booking the following night!

This is a great place to stay if you are aiming to explore Ponce or the countless attractions that are along the middle of the island. It’s also a wonderful to come for a day trip, as the tour (which includes a historical talk about the origins of coffee, an extensive tour of the property, and lots of delicious coffee) is totally worth it. We ended up inviting our friends up on our last day and we all went on the tour together, then had lunch at a fantastic Argentinian restaurant nearby, on Kurt and Sebastian’s recommendation.

The level of hospitality that Kurt and Sebastian provided was of the highest quality. I truly felt like part of the family during our stay. In addition, they are true craftsmen. It’s clear that the Hacienda is their life’s work and they take great pride in producing the very best coffee you will ever have.

Thank you Kurt and Sebastian! We will definitely be back!

A life changing experience to be able to sample the coffee from this plantation. We bought so much to bring back home that we had trouble fitting in our luggage. We enjoyed seeing every step of the actual coffee growing and harvesting process. We had a personnal tour from the owner and will be back in the near future to stay in the cabanas that he has. We were surprised to see that the accomodations were much better that where we were staying at the time at a great price. I would recommend to everyone visiting Puerto Rico to pass by and stay for a few days.

Cheers

My partner took me to Hacienda Pomarrosa as a Valentine gift. We had the most amazing time. Owners Kurt and Eva are great hosts, a breath of fresh air. We really enjoyed the coffee tour. Kurt gave us a history of coffee and took us through his beautiful coffee plantation. The coffee is excellent, great taste. Kurt served us dinner and breakfast, which was delicious. Very comfortable, extremely clean and quiet lodging. Definitely an experience worth doing if you are visiting PR.

I do not know, but Kurt, the owner, is very good about replying to emails. If you go to the Hacienda Pomarrosa website, you can find Kurt's email address. He is the owner, and he replies to email questions quickly.

When we did the tour last August, it was a huge bargain at $20/person -- I don't know if that price is still the same or not. The system is not letting me send an email address. But when we did the tour, and I filled out the online tour-reservation form on the plantation's website, Kurt got back to us extremely quickly.
