Upon entering the hotel it was a lot... meaning there was a restaurant, hotel check-in, stores, and a casino all within the first few steps of the door. When we checked into the hotel, we were told we had been upgraded to a suite - sounds great! But while the room was bigger than average, I wouldn't call it a suite - just a big room! There was a king bed, but not near the side table (which was mounted to the wall). There was a min fridge along with two love seats and a full-sized futon, but the couches were not arranged in a "suite-like" fashion, just lined up along the wall. The bathroom was larger, but had no room for anything, if that makes sense. Meaning, towels were located on a table near the entrance to the room itself, not in the bathroom. Also, we noted that the room was cold and tried to adjust the thermostat - to find that it was locked. We asked at the front desk if they could unlock it and they said no, that it had to remain at that temperature with the fan on high otherwise the room would have too much condensation and would freeze up. So the best they could offer was an extra blanket.

Pros: beautiful infinity pool and balcony outside our suite to relax on

What a shame! A new clean hotel in Ponce, sounds too good to be true, well it is! That had a vinyl cover over the A/C controls. Called the front desk, and to regulate the room temperature, they have to send an employee to the room for a one time fix every time you need to adjust the temperature; preposterous! What a way to mess up something that may potentially be good. The room was warm and soggy when I entered.

Hard to recommend this place. It’s probably fine if you are coming for the built in night life, but otherwise I don’t think it is worth it. I only booked this hotel to utilize a soon to expire free Marriott night. It wasn’t my first choice. Many of the reviews mentioned noise issues. It wasn’t terrible for us but at the time of our stay there were capacity limits and a curfew plus we were on the top floor. Even with all of that you can definitely hear the music from the Hard Rock. I can see this being bad when there are no restrictions. We had more of a problem with the gym being across from our room. Weights started banging before 8am. If you end up near the weight room then I suggest you try to move. We also had a problem with the climate control. If you don’t blast the A/C then condensation immediately appears on the hard floors and everything becomes slippery. Bring some warm clothes or slippers! Lastly, housekeeping came while we were out and took our used towels and left no fresh ones. It took 2 trips to the front desk and 1.5 hours before we got towels. On the plus side there are 3 restaurants and the hotel is pretty new and clean. It’s also a relatively easy walk into town if you are a walker. I just wouldn’t recommend it unless you are staying expressly for the night life.

First impressions of the hotel are quite positive - plenty of free parking, big and bright exterior and the lobby area has a good feel to it with amenities and places to eat, including the excellent Hard Rock Cafe.

Things fairly quickly took a downturn and it became clear that this hotel is suffering greatly from mismanagement. We asked for a quiet room and were told ‘we are a hotel with a big atmosphere so that might not be possible’. This is unacceptable for guests who don’t want to party on a Monday night! That said, the noise issues with the ‘quiet’ room we were allocated were from the incredibly busy and noisy roads outside, which literally kept us awake all night. The revving of engines, exhausts, car horns was as loud as I’ve ever known in any hotel around the world.

As other reviews mention, there are numerous maintenance issues with the rooms which are becoming tired and uncared for. Air con couldn’t be adjusted, shower water sat stagnant in the bottom of the shower due to lack of drainage, shower handle was virtually falling off, bits of skirting board falling off etc. This isn’t a cheap hotel and things like this have to be better.

One of the reasons we’d chosen to stay here was due to the infinity pool yet, with no prior warning or explanation given, we were told on arrival that it was closed. The alternative pool is totally underwhelming and not any sort of substitute.

Although we love Hard Rock Cafe, the smell of burgers through our room vents was not what we were hoping for. It added to a long list of issues with this property.

On checking out, we notified staff of our concerns but they were disinterested and unwilling to address these.

A really poor value for money option that has so much more potential than the dreadful service it’s currently offering.

This place is straight-up ghetto! I went up to the rooftop pool and bar with my wife and daughter to have some drinks and food, and what we found was a couple of young lady employees at the bar blasting "explicit content" music and "twerking". And I thought this was a "Family Friendly" hotel (it is NOT). They acted as if we were disrupting them, so we left without ordering anything. This place only care about the casino.

Pros:
- Food at the Hard Rock Cafe was really good. Our server Jancarlos made our dinner night very special. Also, the manager came by to make sure everything was good.
- The front desk employees were extremely courteous and polite.
- Location
- Free parking

Cons:
- Rooftop bar employees don't care much about your stay.
- Loud music late in the night
- Temperature in the room cannot be adjusted (it was extremely cold)

Hotel doesnt look bad. Parkin is good and clean. Problem is some one decided to rent out a space for a restaurant on the 6th floor with live loud music by rooms. We rented two suites. Suites are only located on 6 th floor right next to this loud live music. Frt desk didnt help, they sd it was not under their control. Jorge, one of the managers came up to say a door was open and that is why it was so loud. That didnt help. Nathalie or Natasha was supposed to refund a one and a half night stay and only got one night out of the four refunded. Called property before leavin a bad review and was told no managers or supervisors will be on site for the next four days.
Shower head was fallin off wall. Water pressure is very poor. Staff communicated next day after a claim with Marriot Bonvoy only to promise some refunds and not comin thru on what they promised. Its a shame this property with this potential is so poorly managed and directed.

Party hotel with loud music: floor and walls vibrated. No sound dampening. We were moved to a “quieter” room on the other side of the hotel, but it was just as loud. It’s deafening in the lobby (also heavily perfumed). Outlets in the nightstand didn't work, almost no storage, broken lamps, bed was pretty uncomfortable. We were moved to a third room when water starting pouring in through the floor to ceiling windows during a rain storm. Let me be clear: the windows do not open. It was due to poor workmanship, which is evident throughout the hotel. Water was streaming down in the lobby as well - right next to the electrical wires! Shower has glass doors and is open to the room so beware staying here with anyone you wouldn’t want to see you naked. Water was cold from shower and sink. Shower is not sealed and flooded the floor. Bathroom light didn’t work in the second room so we had to either use the restroom in the dark or leave the door wide open. Toilet paper roll dispenser was also broken so the roll kept falling on the floor. Try feeling around for that in the dark. Wood veneer on furniture was peeling, carpet throughout the hotel is frayed and quite stained, WiFi didn’t work, no iron, bathrobes, or Netflix as advertised, and construction began bright and early around 6:00AM every morning. We weren’t notified in advance. Hard Rock Cafe is open to anyone and hotel guests don’t get priority. Would’ve left but they wouldn’t allow early check out without paying in full!!! Talk about a bait and switch. You have no idea about any of this prior to your stay and then you get here and you’re trapped. Don’t be fooled by the impressive looking pictures. Get a little closer and you can clearly see that the place is run down and poorly thought out.

This was supposed to be a once in a lifetime trip for our 20th wedding anniversary. I honestly don’t know how this place rated an 8 out of 10. Not only will I never stay here again, but as a Marriott hotel, I am even more disappointed and will likely never stay at any Marriott in the future. Aloft Ponce has destroyed my trust the the Marriott brand. Please believe me when I say this place is the worst. It’s all shiny on the outside to lure you in but we paid over a thousand dollars for five nights of no hot water and no sleep, broken or missing features and amenities, and a staff that just didn’t care. We should’ve been offered a partial refund at the very least. I can‘t get a do over for our 20th anniversary. When I think of how awful it was, I just want to cry.

We had a horrible stay at the property. Firstly, we were told the hotel had a soft opening, however, it was packed when we got there. The first room we got to was dirty, food crumbs on the table and floor, carpets were dirty with stains, windows smudged and dirty. Bathroom mirror dirty. Toilet paper holder broken and toilet paper kept falling on the floor. Shower was dirty. The room was right above the vent for the hard rock restaurant below so there was a horrible smell of fried food when we walked in. After my wife complained, around 8PM shortly after arrival, she was told we were going to get free breakfast (which we did), moved to a different room on the other side of the building (not facing the highway) and $300 off our stay. Instead we got a room still facing the highway and only $96 off our stay. The 2nd room wasn’t much better. It was still facing the highway as mentioned previously and we were told the hotel was at capacity and couldn’t move us anywhere else (during a “soft opening”). Windows to balcony were dirty. Bathroom mirror dirty. Carpets dirty with stains. We were tired and decided to stay as we had our kids with us and were traveling since 7AM est. I called down for two issues. First the safety box was not working and batteries had to be replaced. Second the patio door lock did not work. The lock was installed too close to the door frame and it was impossible to turn it in order to lock the door. This was a safety concern. The engineer came to the room and tried to use pliers to lock it and broke the lock. It’s now 10 PM and the Engineer is drilling into a metal doorframe to install a latch lock. He drilled the holes, installed the lock and left metal debris on the floor. He also installed the lock too close to the frame which meant we could not open the door to enjoy the balcony. Also, the water that came out of the faucet smelled bad in both rooms. We had to let the water run for a minute before the smell went away.

The stay was a disaster and when we explained to management the response was “Sorry, but this is a soft opening, the best we can do $96 off your stay”. This is absolutely unacceptable and shows a lack of care by staff and management in both the service provided and quality of construction. I’m not sure how Marriott would allow this hotel to put their name on the side of the building. I would suggest that their brand management team inspect the quality of the building and reconsider allowing this property to use their brand until these issues are resolved.

This hotel is definitely for the young . There is a loud disco on Friday and Saturday so don’t expect a quiet place. The hotel is modern and the rooms comfortable enough. The wifi is not the best so dont depend on for anything important during your stay. One of the most significant problems is the renovation work going on at the moment. This is evident in most parts of the hotel as is the noise during the day. We also choose hotels that have a gym, here is is closed and they didn’t offer an alternative such admission to a local gym. There is also problems with hot water which experienced one evening prior to going out. In short this hotel is likely to be very nice after the renovation but currently should be offering discounts or at least letting booked guests know the actually amount of disruption. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at this time.

Absolutely unbelievably loud. I am staying in this hotel right now, leaving soon THANK THE LORD. My room is on the 3rd floor in the higher half of the room numbers. The music coming from below is so loud, I cannot hear my own laptop. It is 9:45 pm. I've been here for 5 days and it was loud but today, Saturday, is the absolute worst. If you want to hear yourself think do not stay here. I can understand lyrics and depict specific instruments and harmonies. Absolutely unbelievable. I don't know how they can think this is ok.

Added bonus: the sole option for breakfast is a buffet that literally never changed all week, $16.95 per person.

The bed was comfy and the pillows nice. That's the only reason this is a 2-star review instead of 1.
