Vieques’ Hacienda Tamarindo offers 17 very special rooms, each lovingly and creatively designed and decorated by owner, Linda Vail -- her swan song after over 20 years as a commercial interior designer. Each guest room and public space is unique; imaginatively spiced with a lifetime’s accumulation of art, antiques, and collectibles. An ancient Tamarind tree in the lobby atrium majestically rises three stories through the center of the building. Terraces, courtyards, and sitting rooms offer ample space for relaxation and conversation. The Hacienda is perched on a hilltop with spectacular 180 degree views of the Caribbean -- from sunrise to sunset; looking down on the bedazzling, ever-changing myriad of blue, emerald and turquoise waters. Caribbean trade winds and lazy paddle fans keep you cool and comfortable. Here, you can fall asleep to a tree frog serenade and awake to the smell of jasmine on the gentle sea breeze.

The owners of this lovely spot - Linda and Burr - are delightful and are eager to know that you have everything you need. The room (23) that we had was delightful, overlooking the ocean. The place is quiet so nights are very pleasant. The room has a fridge, which we kept stocked with drinks. The room is well-equipped. The sink area is in the bedroom rather than in the bathroom, which was fine but we did wonder why it was there. The shower worked well. We never lacked for hot water. Closet was large with lots of hangers. The king-size bed was hugely comfortable. The ceiling fan kept us very comfortable at night. The AC unit would only emit freezing cold air, so we didn't use it and luckily, we didn't need to. The owners attend to any problems very quickly and this will no doubt be fixed in short order in time for times of high humidity. The breakfast area was very pleasant, and right outside our room. Breakfasts were ample and adjustable to suit most dietary needs. Everything is made to order, which we like. The pool and its surroundings are lovely. We sat on a chaise longue at night and stared at the star-filled heavens. The quietude of the place made this experience intensely wonderful. This is a hotel for those wanting relaxation without distractions. The Blue Horizon resort next door offers more excitement. We didn't want that on this trip. We wanted to escape Covid for a few days and this was exactly the kind of getaway we needed. We loved our stay here.

We couldn’t ask for a better stay and feel truly blessed we chose to stay at the Hacienda for 6 nights. Located in a beautiful country setting with peaceful pasture land and roaming horses. Peaceful ocean views with amazing sunrise and sunset views. A/c was a big plus. Snorkel gear rental available. Located just minutes away from the Malecon (like restaurant row). We really enjoyed our late evening swims in the pool under the stars. The owners and staff are extremely generous and attentive made sure we had a wonderful stay. Breakfasts are amazing and a nice plus to have on site. Myra at reception was very helpful booking tours, car rentals and any questions we had. If you have the opportunity to stay here seize it!

Beautiful views, attentive staff, great continental breakfast. Good location that is a quick walk to a few local restaurants and bars. Location also has a horse riding tour a 5 minute walk away. Can't go wrong with this lovely hotel.

Mayra was a delight and made the Hacienda really feel like home. The free breakfast was great, and much appreciated in the sleepy off season/ Covid times when things on the island are closed. My room was spacious, clean, and the outdoor space was delightful. I came to Vieques to unplug from work, and this was the right place to do it. Would absolutely recommend!

We didn't know it when we booked it, Hacienda Tamirindo is on the list of 1000 places to visit before you die. We agree. The staff is exceedingly helpful and caring. The property itself overlooks the Caribbean. As the name implies, it's in a hacienda, but we were not bothered by other guests. Even though our room was off the library, sitting room and bar. The room was spacious with plenty of room for the three of us. We were in #7- the when pigs fly room. Besides being well appointed, it opened right out to the grounds. It was an easy walk to the pool. The pool was sparkling, well maintained and relaxing. It's also open 24 hours, so you can lay out on a float and see the thousands of stars above. Like much of Veiques, horses were abundant and would come right up to the property. Breakfast was included on our package. It was a nice ala crate menu and was tasty. Access to the Caribbean is the only downside. There is no easy way to get to the beach. Overall a great stay.
