My honey and I booked an impromptu trip to Vieques during our week long stay in Puerto Rico. Our only plans for the entire trip involved our flight there and back and a hotel for our first night stay after that we completely winged it. We both kind of knew that could be a problem, and I definitely do not recommend going off the mainland without some sort of plan! Luckily for us it all worked out, mostly due to the hosts at this property. Paul was super helpful, he picked us up, offered a vehicle for us to use because every car rental on the island was sold out, and he dropped us off at the ferry for our return trip. As a former hospitality worker myself, that is the kind of service that really wows and unfortunately can be rare to find. The location is great, pretty much in the middle of the island so you are not far from everything. The wildlife preserve and beaches are a very short drive away. Paul offered us plenty of recommendations for food and places to see. The room was clean, and I appreciated the complimentary coffee. Thank you so much for an incredible stay that we will never forget!…
EdM is the complete package - small kitchen, very comfortable bed, piping hot shower with excellent water pressure (rare even on the main island!), convenient use of Paul's Jeep if you need it, and super close to the best beaches on the island and the bio bay. Paul also left out some coolers, beach chairs, beach towels, and noodles that we made good use of. Though we didn't interact too much with Paul, he gave us some good tips and picked us up from the airport. He also was very flexible with our booking and check in/check out. His property has a lovely view, nice patio, and even has wild horses galloping through from time to time. The room was exceptionally clean - for a rustic island like Vieques, I was pleasantly surprised to not see a single bug inside our room! The only thing I would keep in mind is if you decide to use his Jeep, don't expect it to be brand new! But it totally met our needs, since the island is not very big and none of the roads are fast. Thanks again Paul for the great stay! We'll be back!…
I'm staying at Estancia de Manzanares this year - my third year visiting Vieques, Puerto Rico. This location has a wonderful view of the water and the hills. It is centrally located between Esperanza and Isabel Segunda. It has two studio apartments, wifi, air conditioning and TV. The king size bed is comfortable, and the galley kitchen is more than adequate. The owners are hospitable and want their guests to enjoy the island. It is very affordable and I recommend it.
You way find more expensive places, but you will never find better hosts. We have just left after spending a fabulous week, staying with Paul and Gwen at Estancia de Manzanares. A lot of people say that they "would stay again", and not only will we stay again, this has been our third time staying here. They are the best hosts, and willing share the the secrets known only by the locals, best beaches, best food, and any other activity. We neither shut nor locked the door the entire stay, because you don't want to block the wonderful island breeze, and we felt safe leaving things unlocked. We always rent a vehicle from them, because it is less expensive than the rental companies, and we get treated more like locals instead of tourists, and we never end up with the rental company being all rented out. They go way out of their way to accommodate the guests. Thanks for everything, Dale, Chris and the boys.…
This was our second trip to Puerto Rico and we wanted to see more of the nearby islands. A friend recommended Estancia de Manzanares. Paul was a very congenial host and had lots of knowledge and ideas for our activities on the island. He was willing to pick us up from the airport and rented out one of his vehicles to us for a very modest fee to make our island travel that much easier. Homemade breakfast was great. My wife and I liked how the room was separate from the main residence (we don't like to feel as if we are intruding on the owners,)
