From our room on the third floor we could see over the island to the ocean everywhere we looked. This hotel is up on a hill away from town and the beaches. I'd suggest renting a car or golf cart as getting a cab here (entire island) can be quite a challenge. The grounds are amazing. Room was clean and comfy, Very large patio with furniture offered great breezes in the evenings. we never stayed inside except to sleep. Don't plan on sleeping past 5 am as the loco gallos in the area start crowing around then, The office has earplugs available for this reason. Penny was very helpful during our stay, giving us a ride to town one day and finding us a cab to airport for 715 am flight on our last day.

There aren't a lot of choices for lodging on Vieques. I was originally disappointed that we couldn't stay in Esperanza, but saying in on the ferry side worked out really well for us. We only brought backpacks with us for our stay on the island and I would highly recommend that. The only ferries going to the island the day we went were cargo ferries and they did not have a lot of room for luggage. Plus we were able to walk from the ferry to the hotel without any issue. There are two routes you can walk up to the hotel and we just happened to take the route that didn't pass the aggressive dogs. If you plan to walk, just ask them the preferred route beforehand. The hotel room worked well in terms of space for our family, which includes 2 young adult children. The room is basic but clean and comfortable. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper, as the island rooster make noise throughout the night. The staff was super friendly, helpful and native English speaker. They were very helpful with helping us navigate the taxis.…

The Seagate hotel was outstanding and somewhere I recommend to anyone who is traveling with a group or family. It is perfectly located and easy to get to and from many places. The hotel had great views and the staff was extremely friendly. We had a hundred questions and they answered each with a pleasant reply. It was great to actually have the entire floor of a house rented for the price of a room - can't beat that! It was clean, had horses and a great base camp - I needed more time. Thanks Kelly!

In general: the location not bad but little far from the beaches. The stuff was friendly at the beginning. We travel with the pet- Hotel is pet friendly, so dog or cat might left some hair in the room but our dog never sleep with us. And we have not small dog. The listing in the room said that $20 fee in high season and $15 low season but they charged us $25 ( we did not say anything about it)so they should update price listing in the rooms before charging extra money and even before booking in the listing was nothing said about pet fee at the time we booked the room. Therefore, our room had small kitchen and people might use it -since its in the room. After all they complain that kitchen have fish smell and dog hair everywhere but we made small cleaning after we used the kitchen. Its hotel and we are paying for their service - its include clean after each client but not use the same bedding all other again. Soap was mixed with the water - so disappointed. And the room had outdoor/swampy smell and smell from horses. Horses are located very near by to the rooms.They belongs to the owner. Our friend had other room -which was even dirty and ac wasnt work but its 90F in November and its hot. Breakfast- boiled eggs, few fruits, coffee, lipton tea and melted not fresh cheese. We will not recomend this place even for one night and definitely do not take children. I give them 2 star since the view from our room - you can see trees and part of the fort. not worth it the price over $100 per night. Far from beaches.…
