My wife and I had the pleasure of discovering this place. It’s location on a hillside in a park like setting is outstanding with panoramic views of the sea and surrounding countryside. It is just a short distance from restaurants and beautiful beaches although a car is definitely needed to get around. While we enjoyed the privacy and quiet of our small attic space with bathroom, on our next visit we will ask for one of the rooms with an outside balcony to better appreciate what this unique location has to offer. I know that our week here will remain indelibly etched in our memories.
What could be a pleasant house of vacation apartments is instead a noisy youth hostel. This is a single building, a house, divided into apartments and rooms. The top floor are all small rooms which, when I visited, were rented to college age young folk, who treated all space as their own. They blasted music with open doors and, because their rooms are small, and no rooms receive the wifi, treated the stairs and walkway past my door as their living room. As a result, they spent hours hanging out just outside my door having fun, playing music, watching video on their cell phones (which wouldn't connect in the rooms), yelling with excitement about who knows what. There was never any management around to supervise or even complain to, and I spoke several times to the young people myself, which led to increasingly hostile confrontations. Of course, the young people, resentful about being asked to hang out someplace else, took revenge by being obnoxiously noisy. Things turned very ugly. My apartment had a lovely balcony and view, but the whole experience got poisoned. This was one of my worst travel experiences ever. Repeat: no wifi in the rooms.…
We stayed in one of the two 1st floor studio type rooms. This had a sea view, a large terrace-type balcony, double bed, sofa bed, well-equipped kitchen and would be ideal for someone who just wants to relax in peace. If you want to explore the area, a car is a must, (plenty of parking space) but we were not impressed by the 'Trois Ilets' area, being too commercialised and expensive. However 10-minutes drive to the south are two beautiful little bays, 'Anse Noire' and 'Anse Dufour' that are well worth visiting. Wifi was a little temperamental, but everything else worked fine.
Has an exclusive feel, set in its own parkland. We stayed in the Maracudja studio, which opens onto its own terrace and garden area with sun beds and overlooks the sea. We had a BBQ each evening and soaked up the relaxed atmosphere. The studio is large and has a good kitchen. The place is well maintained and kept very clean. The owner is delightful, and while little English is spoken, we got by well - good to have the help of Google Translate. It is a 15 minute walk into the small town, but coming back is uphill all the way. There is a private track taking you to a secluded beach - about a 20 minute walk. Overall, with the quality of the studio and the lovely location, deserves a score of 5.
ten days on the fist floor with the beautiful sea view; with birds taking breakfast with us on the balcony (and entering the kitchen when we were out and eating our banana and mangos :)). Quiet and friendly; with everything you need for a good vacation
