Detailed Reviews
Myself and another medical student friend definitely enjoyed our time in Shortstay Facility, where we shared an apartment with two bedrooms. The accommodation was spacious, very clean, secure and well equipped. The view from the balcony is beautiful - we enjoyed many breakfasts overlooking the Caribbean Sea and northern tip of the island. Dr Olu, who runs the apartments, was really kind to us and had invaluable advice for navigating the island. She helped us out with several lifts, showed us around Castries and put us in touch with a good local taxi driver (reliable with very reasonable rates). This was certainly helpful, as getting around in St Lucia can be tricky if you don’t know how things work. The accommodation is well located with an easy bus link to Castries and the hospital.
Overall I would absolutely recommend this accommodation for any traveller looking to explore St Lucia, and in particular to other medical students on elective. It is great value and you are well supported by the hosts to make the most of your trip.

I'm from st lucia and decided to take a couple of friends to see my beautiful country and we couldn't have stayed at a better place . From the view to the perfect breeze during the day and night . This is a great place to stay. Olu who runs the facility is quick to respond and was ready for our constant schedule changes.Im a flight attendant and I can tell you that this is definitely a Gem . Nothing beats a sea view and a short drive to the beach and city. When ever I head back with friends this is definitely going to be the first place I check and the first place I'd recommend.

This is perfect for any students seeking accommodation to stay at during their elective in Saint Lucia. It's fairly priced, the rooms are clean and well equipment and the owners are really helpful. It's easy to get to the hospital and into town or any other places students want to visit.

I absolutely loved my stay at Hillcrest. The rooms were clean and spacious , and there was everyone youneeded in the apartment. The Ogunlusi's are the loveliest family and take such good care of any one who stays with them. The location is fantastic, with buses running very frequently to Castries , and takes about 5 minutes. The trip to Rodney Bay is about 30 minutes. It was a wonderful stay, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone on their medical elective / looking for a place to stay in St Lucia.

I had the pleaseure of staying at this property, my friend and I. We were there for the carnival weekend. Property was very clean, and had all amenities we needed. Very safe place to stay, as there are burglar bars. Quiet environment and easy to get bus.

2 friends and I stayed for 6 weeks at Shortstay whilst completing our electives at Victoria Hospital.
Olu was our host, and she is a lovely lady who will make sure your time in St Lucia is as good as possible. She took us to the supermarket on our first day, and gave us a tour of Castries to orientate us. She also gave us lifts to the hospital or into town which was useful. She also put us in touch with Junior - a driver who is reliable and relatively cheap.
The apartments themselves are clean and well maintained. All facilities are available (WiFi, TV, cookers, laundry). Our apartment had a balcony with a great view where we spent most of our evenings.
All in all, our time at Shortstay was fantastic and its perfect for anyone wanting to complete their elective in Castries.

Dare and his family were wonderful hosts! I travelled solo to St Lucia for a medical elective in Jan 2015 and they were very helpful in settling me into their home and orientating me to their island home.
My baggage went missing for 6 days initially and Dare and Gbeme were very helpful during a frustrating situation, Dare accompanied me to the local shops for some clothing replacements!
The location is a little out of castries town centre but it is quiet and safe and the view out over the ocean every morning is breathtaking! As a solo traveller it was a little more difficult but Dare gave the numbers of helpful taxis and offered assistance and guidance to get to where I needed in the evenings to meet other students.
Overall I thought they were so kind and helpful however I think it would have been a better location for at least 2 travellers, despite this they made absolutely every effort to ensure I was comfortable and happy which is the most important part. I would definitely recommend Dare's accommodation to anyone, especially those doing a medical elective in Castries!

MEDICAL STUDENTS: I don’t want to repeat anything that “Grace M” has already said, but she tells you almost everything you need to know. I’ll try and add a few extra things.
I Just came back from the same medical elective where we stayed at Shortstay facilities.
Out of the 30 medical students staying in Castries, I think we had one of the best deals.
It was about 20 US dollars per day
One of the biggest issues students have to deal with in the carribean are the mosquito bites. We didn’t have that issue at our apartment because all the windows are netted, whereas other medical students were bitten to bits. Also remember there is chikun gunya which was an epidemic in the carribean when we were there. Trust me, I had to treat it every day at the A & E!
It was never hot because there was a fan in every room, and you could draw the curtains by the windows, which really helped cool the place down.
The apartment has a large washing machine. There’s no dryer but there is a balcony outside which will dry your clothes within a few hours.
BATHROOM: never had an issue with the toilet. The shower is wide, hot with a good jet.
We had our linen and shower towels changed and replaced every week.
There’s a nice view of Castries bay from the balcony.
The Wifi is good.
The TV is handy because you can connect your laptop with a HDMI cable and use the speakers for music and for watching movies at night. There’s like 30 channels on the TV as well, all American tv shows. Buy a HDMI cable before you go!
We were given a tour on the first day by the host, which was very beneficial.
The Short stay apartments are located on top of a hill overlooking castries. it's in a nice area and you'll need minibuses to get by. The miniBuses are really handy. They come every 2 minutes. They're good fun to get on. And really cheap - 2 EC (40p)
They provide with you with 2 mobile phones that have numbers for taxis and other relevant numbers.

The apartment were clean and spacious. It's an excellent place to stay with great facilities in a quite residential area. It was also a 5 - 10 minutes local bus journey to the town centre. I would highly recommend this place for anyone visting St Lucia. Top stars!
