Unfortunately I got stuck for some days (missing my connecting flight) in st Marten, traveling from Saba back to the Netherlands. The staff of this Hotel, took me in, they are lovely people and only bcs of them I didn't had to sleep on the streets of st Martin, which is not to be recommended. They made this unfortunate experience, very very bearable. Of course I took the cheapest room ($55), but I found all I needed. Nice clean linen, daily service, big fridge, big tv screen, and fast WiFi. In opposite from the hotel there is a little store, where you can buy all you need.... (Thank you mister from the shop!) But special thnx to Henriette, who welcomed me the night I arrived!! St marten, Marigot turned out to be a very nice place, with friendly people! See you back soon...
The room is expensive, but basic. There is a TV and WIFI. The ceiling slanted and was low by the sides of the bed, so you had to be careful getting in and out. It was reasonably clean. There is a pool and a nice view of the marina. Our room had no view but building. It was okay for one night.
The room was spacious but had an unpleasant smell of humidity and was very noisy with traffic noise. The common terrace is very pleasant. Not for a fancy holiday, One of the few budget options in the island.
It's pretty cheap and cheerful and for the price I'll probably stay again but it is certainly is not a high end hotel but for the price all good! The only reason its got 3 rather than 4 stars from me is the pool wasn't open and the Wifi didn't reach the room I was given. It was also a bit hard to actually get a parking space in the provided parking as it doubles as the parking for a car spares retailer. The view from the patio was excellent really made the stay, the staff we reasonably friendly. The Wifi on the Patio was okay. The neighborhood has had a few negative comments on some reviews I read but I felt extremely safe in the locality and its only a short trot into town. The air conditioning was good and it was good to have a decent fridge in the room. Shower and cleanliness / maintenance could have been a bit better but weren't off putting. As long as one is not expecting 5* luxury this place is well worth a stop over!…
We arrived in St. Maarten 3 days before our cruise and decided to stay on the French side. We were very happy with our decision. St. Martin is quieter and not as touristy as St. Maarten. They use Euros however will take American. The Fantastic Guest House looked a little scary when driving up to it. Room was very basic but had ensuite bathroom with shower. Big deck overlooking the marina. We stayed 3 nights and sat outside with our glass of wine before bed each night. It was pretty quiet and I did not feel unsafe walking around outside.People were friendly and helpful. I speak a little french but it was not necessary as most people speak english. Lots of great French restaurants within walking distance. There wasn't a kettle or coffee pot in the room or anywhere else however it was a great excuse to get up and walk to Sarafina's for great coffee and amazing pastries (food heaven!). i recommend that you walk past the marina and go directly to Sarafinas. The prices at the marina were quite high. We did however have a great meal at a lovely French restaurant that was somewhat reasonable. We did used the pool the first day however after a ball team of preteen boys descended on us, it wasn't looking very clean (boys were very well behaved btw). I would stay here again for a short period. I prefer it to the big all inclusive hotels and it is easier on the pocket book :-) and within walking distance to great restaurants, cafes, spice market and Fort Louis…
I stayed here for one night en-route to st kitts as it was close to the airport and cheap! I knew it was going to be very basic but as I arrived after 10pm, (they'd arranged a taxi pick up for me and for my return the following morning at 6am) I just needed a place to sleep. It's a shame there are no shops or refreshments available at that time and the area seemed a bit undesirable to be walking around alone, although that is only my opinion. The lady in reception did sell water though. I got a good nights sleep, the bed was comfy, I had air con and the shower was clean etc. The place is just very dated and a bit of a mish-mash of rooms but i set my expectations before arriving. The taxi did not turn up the following morning but the receptionist sorted out a lift for me and I suspect it was more the taxi firms fault than the hotel. I wouldn't have stayed there longer than 1 night but if you're in a budget, it would be very cost effective. The pool looked nice and they have a great view over the bay too. …
When first arrived we were happy with our room and the location of the guesthouse (you get what you pay for). Therefore we also decided to stay two more nights, though during the stay of one day this changed. After coming back from dinner we found several ants around the fridge and when we was about to sleep there were three big cockroaches in the room. When informing the first staff member the day after she did not seem to care at all - hence we left the hotel immediately. If more interest was shown from the staff in order to resolve the situation though this was not the case.
Stayed here one night after visiting other islands and before flight home. Had already been to the area as previously stayed on St Martin. No, it doesn't look the prettiest but don't let that put you off. The local folk are friendly and helpful. I wouldn't go out after dark anywhere in the world flashing the cash etc so sensible heads on wherever you vacation. Check in was easy and staff are lovely and really helpful. We were on 3rd floor and there are steps up to reception and steps up again which would be a prob if you have mobility issues. Room was spotless with sparkling white sheets and fluffy white towels. En suite is small but has a 1/2 bath and again spotless. Wifi is free and fast. Two huge beds in the room and a fridge. Lots of plug sockets (mixture of Europe and US). Furniture, decor etc very dated but so clean. Carpet was again spotless. Nice area to sit out and look over the marina and down into the pool. 5 mins walk into the marina and down to the main road by the ferry port. Lots of places to eat and drink. Parking area looked very small at the front. We took a taxi from SXM and it was $20. I wouldn't want to spend my whole vacation here but for short stopovers or if you are taking the ferry from Marigot to St Barths or Anguilla it's fine.…
The Fantastic Guest House is located in Marigot just a few blocks from the Port and very nice shopping and restaurants. The Fantastic Guest House is not located in a high end section of Marigot, and the Fantastic Guest House dose not have high end amenities. But it is, exactly what we were looking for on St Maarten, clean accommodations, well managed, local flavor at a great price. I am writhing this review as my wife and I stay at the Fantastic Guest House and we would stay here again. Very Very nice staff.
This guest house is right in the heart of the city. Parking is crazy. Beautiful view but I wouldn't recommend it for families. Ok for a couple that may be running around all day and just needs a place to sleep.
