Such a great resort, family friendly, although most of the pools are off limits to toddlers, located close to the airport. Although the hotel doesn't have a super awesome beach right infront, when you go to the left you get a beach ( bit rocky ) or you can go outside the property and enjoy the bay. Staff is super friendly. When we checked in, our room wasn't ready even at 4pm, which was inconvenient and the late checkout ( checkout is 10am! ) options were not that accommodating. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment, which was super spacious with a nice view. the kitchen is well equipped and there is a grocery store in the property or if you want 5-10 minutes walk there are better options as well. the TV in the room didnt really connect to any other streaming services and the wifi was quite unusable. the hotel gets 3 stars cos of these but the staff is super amazing and helpful!…
I had a hard time coming up with the rating for this review. In summary, my family (kids, teens and adults) had a great time. The location is amazing and the resort has great pools and the beach was just perfect and extremely nice staff. But there were lots of little things that detracted from our overall experience. They're not necessarily reasons to stay away, but rather things to consider before booking. - Towels: there are no towels by the pools. You need to walk down/up a hill in order to fetch towels to then bring back to the pool and same goes with returning the used towels. It was a huge nuisance, especially with little kids. -Drinking water: I've been to many resorts and there's always free drinking water available at the pool, beach and lobby. It was not the case here. I felt that was extremely lacking; especially since the weather is so hot and sunny. -Hot tub: there is none! Honestly, it didn't even occur to me to look into this beforehand but we love a good hot tub soak after a refreshing dip in the pool or ocean. Keep in mind, even though it's hot, it can be windy and the pools are not heated. A hot tub was sorely missing and this would probably be the #1 reason I look elsewhere next time. -Security: The security seemed random. One evening my teens (who are excellent swimmers) were told they couldn't swim alone (I was watching them from my balcony) yet the next night there were a bunch of hooligans partying in the pool while drinking, cursing and grinding to inappropriate music. Yet no one stopped them. -Washer/dryer: not in units. This was a big one for me, as whenever we've stayed in full kitchen suites before, there was also a washer/dryer. Again, shame on me for not researching and just assuming. I would have packed differently had I realized that it was communal. All-in-all, it felt like a combination of a resort and a condo/villa community but instead of the best of both worlds, I felt it was lacking in both worlds. All this being said, I would still consider returning now that I know these things in advance, but not before looking closely at other neighboring resorts to see how they deal with these issues.…
Last week, 116 of our closest friends and family came to Sint Maarten for our wedding! Every single one of our guests spent 4-5 nights at Simpson Bay Resort and we could not say enough good things about the staff and how they supported our group and me and my now husband during our stay. The resort was a perfect place to have such a large group. During the days leading up to the wedding we were able to all meet down at the resort beach, soaking in the sun all day, getting the best treatment from the waiters and waitresses at Coco Beach Bar. We did the same at the pool since most of our group stayed in the Villas building that was our spot and we loved the folks at the pool bar. For dinners, folks had lots of restaurant choices on the property and just a short walk into town made it super fun and easy! The week would not have been possible if it weren't for Marcel, Francisco, Aniek, Ana, and Daniel from SBR. They were extremely attentive, communicating over whatsapp and by phone to ensure we created the best possible experience for our guests, but also to make sure that my partner and I were having the best week ever! We've stayed at Simpson Bay Resort several other times that we've visited and it never disappoints. This time just really blew it out of the water! We can't wait to go back and relive the memories!!…
I had a great time. I went solo for a long weekend and mainly stayed in the resort on the beach. It was shoulder season at the time, so it was a great price and really quiet. The resort felt very safe and enclosed, yet easy to walk/drive outside of it. The beach was GORGEOUS. Flat, nice sand. Good waves, not too big or rough. My suite was great. Comfy and clean and the air con worked well. The room service was great too. The resort food wasn't anything amazing, but it was good. The island as a whole was really nice. Good food, good people, and some awesome beaches and views. The island (both sides) is very easy to get around by car. The only "downside" to the resort IMO was the hill. It wasn't a huge problem for me physically, but after spending all day sweating on the beach, the last thing I wanted to do was walk uphill to my room. I did it and it was fine, but I definitely went "ugghhh" at the bottom of the hill before walking back up. …
We love Simpson Bay Resort. This is our second year in a row going in January. Last year we stayed in the Villas, this year we stayed at the Marina tower. Both years we had a one bedroom. Totally worth the small amount extra. Stay in one of the buildings by the ocean, the others you need a shuttle to get to beach and restaurants. St Maarten really needs to improve their roads. They are full of potholes and very little sidewalks. As we get older, we will not be able to walk around Simpson Bay, which is the beauty of this location. There are 6 restaurants and a great little casino on property and several more just half way down the hill. Prices are very reasonable everywhere on the island. Everyone has happy hour two for one drinks. 2 frozen daiquiri for $10, what a deal. Shuttle will take you to local restaurants in Simpson Bay, but we discovered this year that they have discontinued picking you up when you are ready to come home. Still only an $8 taxi ride but it was a nice bonus we missed. Island feels very safe and we will continue to frequent this resort. …
Well I think this place has great value for what you pay. We got the cheapest room as it was out first time and it had everything you could need in an apartment. I would just suggest if cooking bring ziplock bags or something as there is no Tupperware. Bed was very nice. The shuttle will take you to your room and even anywhere up to the bridge at the Yacht club so it was like a free taxi which was huge and just tip them. We had breakfast included but probably just name our own next time. Store on site Pelican Deli is a bit cheaper if it has what you need vs the big one at the bottom of the hill. The beach water is beautiful but the sand can be Course around the beach bar towards the rocks is soft. They have sea turtles almost all day you can see them come up and jumping sting Rays which were wild. Seeing all the yachts come in was so nice. The beach bar has great food and staff, it also has great specials burger with cheese bacon and a/fries $18.75 but special $14 certain days. 2 large grilled dogs with real cheese and grilled onions $14, jalapeño popper sooooo good. All the servers are awesome, special shout out to Kamisha and Ziggy who made our day bright. They neeeed road work and apparently go back and forth with the government on who should pay. It needs to happen. You have to watch your step but did not dampen the experience however could see ppl judging the resort as it’s first glance. Red piano was amazing but smoky, no such think as a non smoking area in a place that size. Fair price and value close to a lot of great restaurants. Pools are beautiful. If it’s in your budget don’t hesitate…
Great hotel conveniently located to many attractions, bars and restaurants. The resort has plenty of facilities like restaurants, bars, beaches, pools and a gym. The Wi-Fi was the biggest problem with even the enhanced version being entirely unusable at times. If you value that perhaps stay elsewhere otherwise this place is perfect b
My stay at the Simpson Bay resort marina spa was a very good and peaceful place will stay at this resort because of the concierge Anieka was very helpful and Pleasant young lady housekeepers Shauntel was very nice she made my stay comfortable
management is very poor. Shuttle never available, front desk slow and bad treatment with 30 minutes waiting my deposit back due girls talk each other and to others except me, need to call 5 times to get soap to the room . Good breakfast and maintenance of facilities room very nice and comfortable
A great place with everything you need on property - or head out if you choose. The resort was clean and people were all nice. The beach wasn't too crowded, but a nice vibe! Loved that there was a market on property and kitchen in the unit so you don't have to eat out every day!
