We booked a trip thru Tradewinds Cruise Club for a week, but decided to spend a couple of days additional on Tortola, so we booked a room at Long Bay Resort prior to leaving on our Catamarran Cruise. We really enjoyed our two day stay...More
Stayed there in 2007 on vacation, in one of the beach side villas. Out view was like postcard, complete with shady palm tree, that sadly we were not able to take advantage of as other gusts who were not staying right on the beach were...More
My family stayed at the Long Bay Beach Resort in 1990 and had a wonderful time. Because of that experience, my husband and I decided to stay there when we took a trip to the BVIs in January 2010. I was a little concerned as...More

After reading all the mixed reviews we took a chance and booked a hillside king for the weekend on an island hop from Antigua. We would go back to this resort. The beach was nice, the view from our room was great, the grounds and...More
We enjoyed our stay at Long Bay. We had found a sale on the rooms and stayed for a very low price, especially considering it was high season.
We arrived late and they had cool towels, a cocktail and an upgrade waiting for us. Our...More

Hi, it's a 20 minute hike to get to a swimming beach, reported to be the nicest on Tortola. The beach in front of the hotel is just for show--scary rocky bottom all the way and all the way up and down the beach. The pool is tiny. So no, I would only go with grown ups who don't mind a little walking.

I've been there 3 times. E mail or call LB and they can reserve a SUV for you. Each time I have rented I used their recommendation and they were great! And they are a short distance over the hill. When you get off the ferry at the west end take a taxi to the resort. It's only a ten minute ride and not that expensive. (This assumes you are flying into St. Thomas and taking the ferry over).
The food at the resort is very good. The restaurant right next door, Fusion, is GREAT! The chef is one of the owners so expect great service and greater food. If you like lobster there is a great restaurant a short ride from the resort. It's called the Coal Pot I think. There are two Pushers on the island and I recommend both. The one in Roadtown is the original. The other is right around the corner from the ferry drop off. Hint after you disembark from the ferry have the taxi ask to be taken to the grocery store next to Pussers. Stock up on booze and snacks! I would recommend that you get on the all inclusive food plan for breakfast and lunch.
There is no nightlife at the resort except when LB holds a buffet or brings in a guitar player. If you are looking to party take a day trip to Jost Van Dyke, Soggy Dollar, Hendo's Hideaway and Ivan's all great! If you are there on full moon go to the "full Moon Party" . I forget the name of the place but they can tell you the name. take a cab and stay away from the "tea"Ive alway stayed on the beach in the Villa. When I was there the room was adequate but was in need of some updating and refurbishing. Have a great trip! Please tell the waitress at the resort, Prudence, that Ed from Maryland said hello! She is truly a gem. Then you are obliged to sing a little of the Beatles song, Dear Prudence)..

For instance , and this is laughable, we asked for chocolate ice cream and the cake came w a side of a vanilla ice cream so waitress said no it comes w vanilla. Really???? Some staff friendlier than others and chef very nice!
