As I sit down to pen my thoughts on the Wyndham Lambert Bay in the stunning British Virgin Islands, I find myself thinking through a mixture of emotions. Let me start with the undeniable charms of this place, for they truly deserve their accolades.

The beach at Lambert Bay is a slice of paradise, its pristine sands and azure waters crafting a scene straight out of a dream. The restaurant, too, stands out, offering delectable cuisine and a decent enough variety. Breakfast was especially good.
Amidst the staff, there were shining stars like Felicia, Shazz and John who made our stay memorable with their warmth and eagerness to assist. The pool area provided the perfect respite to wind down after a week of sailing.

The spa, though just 'okay', still offered a decent retreat for relaxation. We enjoyed our treatments, and the staff were very good. The setting and facility could be a bit better.

Our room was small but served it's purpose. However, it bore the scars of neglect. The walls cried out for a fresh coat of paint, and the bathroom told tales of flooding and rust - a stark contrast to the beauty outside. The most disheartening aspect was the shower, marred by remnants of previous guests, a detail that cast a shadow over our stay. The pool/beach towel situation also needs improving. Guests shouldn't have to ask for additional towels (on 1 in the room) nor was a towel station to be found anywhere on property.

Moreover, the New Year's Eve, a night of global festivity, passed by without a whisper of celebration at the hotel. This lack of festivity, especially in such a picturesque setting, was not just surprising but deeply disappointing.

In conclusion, while the Wyndham Lambert Bay dazzles with its natural beauty and culinary delights, it falls short in maintaining the quality and vibrancy expected from such a renowned establishment. This jewel of Tortola has the potential to shine brighter, and I hope it embraces the opportunity to refurbish and renew itself. For now, it remains a place of contrasting experiences, where beauty and neglect dance a delicate, bittersweet waltz.

Dear Guest, we are truly sorry that your stay with us was not completely up to your expectations. We are grateful for the nice review about the beach and the property. And all your positive feedback about our restaurant and the team too. As of now we are investigating thoroughly to understand what went wrong with the room you were assigned. In this regard, please contact us at webmaster@lambertbeach.com: we would love to delve deeper into the unsatisfactory aspects. As for New Year’s Eve entertainment, there are many famous parties organized outside the hotel and guests usually wish to visit such events. And at the same time we cannot keep the music playing loudly beyond a certain time because the rooms are very close to the entertainment area, as well as the community around. We will work on our situation regarding the towel station - thank you for the valuable point. We hope you can write back to us soon that we can make sure the points about the room can be solved shortly. Have a great day, Management team.

We had a garden superior room which was roomy, good decor, comfy king bed, fridge, and espresso machine. Bottled water was provided. We stayed a total of 8 nights.
Housekeeping was unreliable, missing towels or water almost daily. Once reported, the items did arrive.
Beach/ pool towels were only replaced if left in the room. Useless as we would already be poolside. Eventually we requested clean pool towels in addition to the missing items. Replacement towels at pool please.!
We were aware of the secluded location and dangerous sea. However, we didn’t realise the sea was only visible from a sea view room or sat in the restaurant, everything faced the hill.
The food and service in the restaurant was of good quality.
The pool was large and deep but lacking depth markings. Plenty of sunloungers but no shade apart from 7 cabanas which did not offer complete shade.
There is a new accommodation block being built by the pool. Noise everyday. There was no mention of this on the website or on check in.
We held 2 separate reservations as were were staying in Virgin Gorda for 2 nights in between. Before our stay we enquired about the hotel holding our luggage for 2 nights and were told it was up to the receptionist on check out. Not helpful at all. We enquired the evening prior to check out when we also booked the taxi for Beef Island Ferry and were told there would be no problem with our luggage. We packed accordingly however on check out the next morning at 0745 we were told there was no room, not even for one bag. The room could only store 10 bags. The taxi hadn’t been ordered either. This spoilt our trip to Virgin Gorda and our planned return via Road Town Ferry so we could look around. This was impossible with 2 large bags and we had to return to the Wyndham much earlier than we had intended and therefore had to wait until 3 pm when our room was ready. Incidentally we were in the same room for both reservations.
The hotel is missing the Caribbean vibe and hospitality, not even a Caribbean picture in the hotel room.

Dear Jack, It was our pleasure to have you as a guest. Your experience with us really matters, therefore, we would like to thank you for this detailed review. We are happy to hear that you liked the room and some other facilities of our resort. We are investigating the mistakes of our housekeeping, why the towels or water were missed during their service. As well, there was a misunderstanding regarding our luggage request and this is completely on us! We know how frustrating it can be and we do apologize for that. Our resort is under Wyndham brand standards and the interior of the rooms we designed accordingly, that might be different from expected Caribbean style. But we are proud to offer our guests a unique location that brings tranquility during their stay. We sensually apologize again that we didn’t achieve your expectations! If you would like to leave a special note to our management team about the service or any other details, please send us an email at info@lambertbeach.com Have a great day, Management team

We had a last minute need to stay a couple nights in Tortola. We found the Wyndham had rooms available and were prepared for a basic hotel as the price was very reasonable. When we arrived, reception was ready, waiting and smiling to check us in. The hotel is a group of 4 to 6 rooms per casita and are arranged beautifully along the edge of the beach. Even if you don't get a beachfront room, all the rooms are so close that you can sit on the patio and listen to the rhythm of the waves. The rooms are furnished nicely, not fancy, and are large enough to spread out if you wish. The patio has a large bubble chair that easily holds two people and a simple table on which to set your drinks.

The restaurant is open air and generally very nice. The food is typical hotel style but good. Service is a bit hesitant but once you open up to the server, they become much more friendly. The restaurant prices are acceptable and the portions sufficient. If you forget your corkscrew, they'll even open your wines for you to take back to the room. And if you need beer, wine, snacks, etc., the vending machines have everything you might want!

The pool is large and lovely with no crowds and lots of available porticos and chaise loungers. Beware ordering drinks at the pool bar as they can be deadly and with all the lovely views and hot sun, you may not realize how strong they are! But who's complaining?!

The beach was deserted and the sand so soft it was like silk. You can't swim at the beach however due to the strong currents and undertows. You can, however, walk forever through sand so deep that you sink to your ankles. They even have wooden porticos along the beach where you can relax, read, or just listen to the crashing waves.

Even though it was high season, the resort doesn't seem busy. It's spread over such acreage that you see the occasional guest but never feel like you're one in a thousand. In fact, you'll see more chickens, roosters and geckos than you see guests. The roosters are a bit confused on timing however as they crow proudly all day long. It's fun but be aware in case you like to nap.

We definitely recommend The Wyndham if you're visiting Tortola. It's off the beaten path, away from the hustle of the marinas and the staff are very pleasant and happy.

Got in from Miami around Noon. Asked the front desk to see if there would be an early check in available and was told that the room wasn’t ready but we could use the amenities while we waited. We started by going to the pool. The bar was open but the swim up portion of the bar was closed. The pool was cloudy and green making it unusable. With the resort being so secluded you’d think all the amenities would be kept up. We then went out to the beach and this is the best part of the resort. This is also the only part the resort doesn’t have to touch. There were about 4 chairs positioned on the beach and not a single other person in sight the entire time we had been there. There are some cabanas that over look the beach but the cushions are dirty and tearing. The cabana structures are dry rotting. We then tried to check in again this time at about 2:30 pm. We were again told the room was not ready and when I asked about having early check in on the website I was met with an attitude of by availability. Again at this point we haven’t seen any other guests. After we were able to check in right at 3 we went to the room. At check in I asked if the front desk could set us up a taxi back to the airport in the morning and the clerk started off by saying it would be easier for us to call but then reluctantly did it after I asked about the transfer service that was listed on the website. It was supposedly freshly cleaned but there was no smell of cleaning products or any indication it was cleaned just recently. The floor in the room had a bunch of cracks in the tiles and the shower pan was chipped and cracked. We found a few bottles of water in a fridge that was not working. The ceiling fan stopped working at some point during the night. When I reported these things at check out I received a question of what do you mean by not working. The restaurant for dinner was somewhat nice but the outdoor decking was old and weathered with portions of it falling apart. Dinner service was slow with us being one of three tables being served. The other tables had locals at them and not guests. The food was just ok. I had the grilled Mahi Mahi and it was unseasoned and was the same quality I could make at home. The margherita pizza was just a basic cheese pizza. Don’t waste your time here go the west end and stay nearer town

First, I should give this some context. Tortola is a remote tropical paradise in a country that does not have amenities like in the USA. The climate has its challenges because it gets hot and humid in the summer, there are lots of insects, and salt from the ocean takes its toll on infrastructure.

I traveled with my family from the USA and there are some things we had to accept that we don't see back in the states like hundreds of ants on my bathroom floor and a pool that is a cloudy green but "swimmable". There were parts of the property that looked recently remodeled but other parts like sidewalks that were old and crumbling.

My parents commented on how difficult it was to a get a coffee in the morning. They had expresso machines in the room but there was no creamer and so it was not drinkable. The restaurant served brewed coffee for $4 and it opened at 7am but there were no take-away cups.

That being said we still had a good time. The wifi worked pretty well all over the property. The beach was beautiful and the restaurant had some good service and food. The people of Tortola were very friendly and accommodating.

Spent Christmas week there with my wife. Our first time on Tortola. The staff were amazing and truly friendly and helpful. We happened to be there when the owners were there. We were not fans of the parents, (the kids were quiet and friendly though) as they were snobbish and portrayed themselves as better than everyone else. The large swimming pool was really nice, but there is not swim up to bar here as I have seen in other reviews. (It is the largest pool in the British Virgin Islands.) This is a very quiet place on the island, away from the crowds, which we enjoyed. The menu was great in regard to variety ($$). Water was $6-8 a glass as it is served from a glass bottle and you're on an island. Plenty of water bottles placed in the rooms each day. Our fridge barely worked, barely enough to keep a chocolate bar cool. We did have the beautiful beach nearly to ourselves at times, even doing a bit of snorkeling. Be careful of the waves and rip currents. Someone staying there was rescued on the day we arrived, (not sure if he lived or died though). Great weather here during our visit.

We were extremely dissatisfied with the condition of the facilities as well as the lack of professionalism for a lack of better words. The wood around the pool deck area is rotted to the point that I went through one board and the boards are warped making them unsafe to walk on. The shade gazebos by the beach are in similar states of disrepair to include missing wood where the boards have rotted exposing stainless wood screws that can be stepped on if not noticed. Most of the staff seemed to have attitudes where they either ignored your request or just didn’t respond at all to let you know your need or food/drink order were taken or understood. Then there is the lack of attention on room service. One day we didn’t get any wash clothes and only one towel delivered. Two days later we get double everything. Our time on the island was great but our time at a resort that cost us nearly $1800 was definitely the low point of the vacation.

We stayed on our last day and night in Tortola at the Wyndham Tortola BVI Lambert Beach Resort. The facilities are virtually new after being rebuilt after hurricane Irma. The duplex rooms were first class with a wonderful king sized four poster bed, very large bathroom done in marble and all the amenities of a 5 star hotel. We ate at their open air restaurant overlooking the beautiful beach and the food was excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. We enjoyed relaxing on the beach lounge chairs on a virtually secluded beach. The whole complex is built on a mountain side with great views of the ocean. Their pool is enormous! We were very pleased with the Wyndham resort.

We stayed for 4 nights a/o January 29th, having stayed for 1 night on the 20th.
The Wyndham,BVI is in the middle of a COVID-19 interrupted face lift/upgrade, that commenced in 2019, with projected completion for the end of 2022, however I suspect this will realistically have to be pushed back a year.

The beach is great ( approximately 500 metres of sand), however the beach advisories cautioning swimming should be headed.
We loved the restaurant which is bright & airy, with well presented & cooked food that compliments its location.

All the staff that we encountered were friendly, chatty & smiley, with special mentions to: Geeta on reception, who overcame the hickups with our accommodation with her ' can do attitude'.
Debbie, who oversaw the pool bar & restaurant floor team. Last, but definitely not least; Sophia, who kept our room TipTop.

The Wyndham is working towards achieving its goal of a 5* destination resort & I hope they get there.

We plan to return no later than 2023..😊👍

This property is definitely off the beaten path and is very quiet. The beach is lovely as no one is around, but not swimmable. The other reviews around limited staff at the bar and restaurant are spot on and felt bad for the staff as they are not up for success. The other staff at front desk and around the property are not overly friendly or helpful - ex getting extra pool towels, you have walk to the front desk and beg to receive. They run this hotel very frugally and it shows on the overall upkeep and staff attitudes. I don’t mind island time pace but it felt like we were bothering people if you asked for anything. As most people have mentioned, the food at the Turtle is good and only option. I would NOT recommend this hotel for families as it is not kid friendly. We stayed here one night with kids before our boat trip as it was one of the only hotels that we could find that didn’t have 2 night minimums. The pool had slippery tile, sharp edges and corners and with open ocean, I would look elsewhere if not traveling with teenagers. This overall stay was okay for one night given the price but don’t think we would be back post COVID when we don’t have to worry about crossing international waters and COVID tests.

I don't believe the resort organizes such trips on their own, but you can always have the concierge help you set up a day trip with one of the independent tour boats in the BVI. Do a quick Google search on "BVI snorkeling day trips" and you'll see there are a lot of options.
