I've been to many places but this was the worst. From you open the front door there is a strong odor & worst in the room. It smells old & moldy. The room I stayed in the TV is stuck on the wall as you get in, then a table then the bed. Everything runs in 1. So if you want to watch the TV you have to go to the end of the bed or sit in the corner. The TV should be mounted on the wall so guest can lay and relax & watch the TV. We couldn't charge any devices with the outlets shown. We had to move table & use the 1 behind where the TV is located. The bed was dusty, the room was dusty like it hadn't been cleaned in awhile. I went to the bathroom. The toilet seat was up and it had couple hairs on it, like pubic. It grossed ne out. I had to clean down the toilet. 2 towels were given, 1 was very stained and they looked dingy. There wasnt fresh soap. The hand soap bottle was empty & they never threw it out but another quarter used bottle was on the sink. I had to clean down the bathroom sink as well. The bathroom walls looked dirty as well. I couldnt wait until morning to get out. It was late in the night & know where else to go. In the morning I showered, then when my mate was bathing the water went off. I had to use drinking water I had to rinse his skin. We DIDN'T stay for breakfast. I couldn't I just wanted to get out. I see the host means well, she is very nice but she is an older person. She needs someone to help her manage the place. It needs thorough cleaning & upkeep. I'm suppose to walk into a place & smell freshness! Sorry this may seem harsh but I am 100% honest!…
My wife and I stayed 3 nights with a Booking.com reservation. After a 30 minute flight from St. Maarten, we took a taxi(US $11-should have been 11 EC$) to this classic lodging in the quiet Conaree suburb. At the top of the arbored walkway, we met Hazel (built this B&B in 2005), who had us fill out a registration form before offering a lower or upper room. We chose the spacious open ceiling room facing the front balcony, a comfortable queen with 2 nightstands(no outlets for the large lamps), dressing table, chair, over door coat hooks, refer(replaced with one that worked), very small wall TV with 50+ English channels, limited outlets on one wall, overhead fan and large AC. Adjoining was a good-sized bathroom with body wash and a bathtub shower. Our room WiFi was weak, stronger in the hallway and strongest on the ground floor stairwell. On Sunday, we walked 350 m up to the street junction's bar/mini market for dinner supplies, then Monday, took the minibus(5 EC$) 5 km west to the Basseterre Bus Terminal (use ATM and see the town sights) ending up 2 km south at the large Rams Supermarket, then flagging down a ride back to Conaree(US$7). Hazel's 8 AM delicious English breakfast out on the patio included fried plantains, strong coffee and fruit. She called a driver for our northwest island tour(170 EC$) to visit 2 churches and the Brimstone Fortress. Once outfitted with money and groceries, we loved our stay at this quiet location, among the flowers, birds and monkeys, especially out on the balcony with its long views of the Atlantic accompanied only by sounds from the distant limestone quarry and an occasional landing airplane. All in all a decent value at US$90 cash per night.…
We visited St Kitts and booked the Fern Tree B@B for 4 nights. What an absolute Gem. Hazel and family met us and made us very welcome. Room/Ensuite clean and comfortable, especially the bed and AC . Hazels breakfast was delicious, especially eating Al Fresco. Very helpful, lovely place to stay. The garden is very pretty, and to cap it all we won the cricket!!
On August 14 , 2018 my mom and I arrived at an excellent place call The Fern Tree. A real breath of fresh air. The owner Mrs. Hazel Thomas has great hospitality. We stayed four nights. Each night was very relaxing. The rooms are very clean and spacious. Everything was in place. The breakfast every morning is to die for, very tasty and delicious. I enjoyed the stylish modern décor of each room, air condition and free WI-Fi access. The Fern Tree is at a great location near the airport, Frigate Bay and the Town. The garden is very beautiful never seen anything like it. The is owner is very kind and approachable. She is a God send. We felt like we never left home. A real family atmosphere.Every day the made us feel like we were number one priority. We love and miss Mrs. Hazel .
This is a quiet place no stay. About five minutes drive from the airport. This give you a family style atmosphere, when in season many fruits are available complimentary. Every morning you get a magnanimous Caribbean breakfast before you head out for your destination for the day.
