Nestled in a prime spot convenient for both business and leisure, the Hyatt Regency Trinidad garners acclaim for its location near the city center and waterfront, particularly during festive events, despite some noting maintenance could be improved. While the rooms offer a blend of comfort, cleanliness, and impressive views, a handful of guests have mentioned noise and upkeep as drawbacks. The hotel's amenities, including a praised breakfast and welcoming staff, add to the positive experience, although the value for money is questioned by many, with criticism aimed at costly dining and subpar meal quality.

My family and I stayed at the Hyatt first of February. For me it has been the best Hyatt I ever stayed in and it is the best hotel in Trinidad. I would like to thank especially Ms. Anoshka who took great care of her guests at the Regency Club, Mr. Roland who always made sure that the rooms were super-clean and the entire crew at the pool area. The management can be proud to have this kind of staff on board. The staff at the front desk needs a bit of help. They were quick to stamp the parking ticket, with the rest not so much. There was some trouble at the check out with our bill and as I started to question certain positions on the bill their patience was running out. At the end everything was in order but the staff at the frontdesk should keep in mind that not even Trinis trust eachother when it comes to credit cards. So forgive me for double checking my bill. Further, the evening-crew at the Regency club needs to stop liming and start attending guests. If I make use of the drinks session from 6 to 8 pm I don't expect to be hurried along even if I am pouring my drink at 7:55 pm.
So in general, I will definitely stay there again - for a Caribbean Hotel everything works surprisingly well.

Nice hotel with receptive and warm staff. The window panes need to be cleaned and defrosted for customers with ocean views. We had to change rooms due to an inability to have the ocean view we paid for. The hotel staff notified us that there were no structured festivities for the NYE holiday, but I later learned there were packages available, but were now sold out. The entire hotel team must be on the same page and communicate on what is happening in the hotel. Overall, a very good experience.

We stayed at this Hyatt for 6 days during our vacation in January and absolutely loved it.

The room was on a higher floor with a balcony overlooking the pool, ocean and port, and was one of the better rooms we’ve had while staying at Regency.

Service and food were outstanding. We ended up having nearly every dinner at the hotel due to how good the food was. Would highly recommend eating at the Waterfront restaurant and get a front row view of a beautiful sunset. The sushi was also a pleasant surprise!

Tip: There are multiple restaurants and bars on site with individual menus, but you can actually order food from any of them no matter which one you go to or where you sit.

We spent multiple days by the infinity pool overlooking the ocean and it was so relaxing. The poolside service was also fantastic. We’d recommend the hummus & veggie platter with a bucket of beer!

Location is in Port of Spain and perfect for getting around the island. Also, we had read and heard prior to visiting that this area and Trinidad itself were not safe and to be super cautious, that being said the staff gave us great advice and we almost never felt unsafe. Our recommendation is to simply exercise common sense and don’t put yourself in situations you may not normally feel comfortable.

Although the room was clean and very well designed, the check in process was absolutely ridiculous! There were a couple weddings/events taking place there that day and apparently nothing was put in place to check guests into their rooms in a timely manner. Guests waited for hours in a line. Because I was coordinating one of the weddings, I had to drive back home to get changed and find back as there was no way I could wait in that line. To make matters worse, when I came back I had missed the bridal entrance and at 7:00pm my room still was not ready. I was offered a 30% discount. At this point I’m realizing most people got checked in and I was offered the same discount they got. I did not get to check in until after 8. I should have been given that room complimentary. So Hyatt Trinidad you have to do better. Unacceptable and was not a pleasant experience for me despite the nice room.

We stayed at the Hyatt Trinidad for 3 nights in early April. The room was wonderful with a balcony and a view of the water. However, Check-in was slow, with persons allowed to use the "World of Hyatt" check-in queue that were not members. Two of the three nights we stayed we had to wait 40 and 50 minutes for our meals to arrive after ordering. At breakfast one morning we got up to go to the buffet and our seats were given to other guests. one night at dinner we ordered calamari as an appetizer, when it arrived no piece of calamari was bigger than my thumb nail - surely we were served the bottom of the bag. We did not go into the pool, because from our room we could see persons fully clothed in street clothing allowed to enter and remain in the pool. One can certainly conclude that the standards and practices of this once shining establishment for quality and service levels have dropped significantly.

This hotel has an excellent location in close proximity to downtown Port if Spain (capital) and with a view of the Gulf of Paria. One can see ferries and yatchs coming and going while the ambiance is very therapeutic. Although we stayed in a balcony room which was compact and clean our expectation of a Hyatt room was not met. It is not bad by most standards but we have stayed in more impressive accomodations at less cost.

Our stay at the Hyatt was disappointing. Most of the staff were lovely and helpful. However, the room was not good or up to standard.

I specifically booked the Hyatt as I thought it would be a great experience of high standard to treat my partner on his first visit to Trinidad, but this was the case.

Our room had no bathroom door (the tracks for the sliding door were still there but no sliding door) and smelt very badly of stale cigarette smoke. When I mentioned these to the receptionist she simply said that she would add this to the maintenance list and someone come and spray the room. I was unhappy that we were not offered another room. Someone brought a spray to the room and I was told to spray the room but she did not leave the spray and not long afterwards the stale smoke smell was evident again.

I slept badly as my sleep was disturbed by the air conditioning unit which appeared to turn itself off so the room became hot and this woke me. I had to get up 3 times to adjust the unit.

Furthermore, I booked the room on the phone and was quoted one price. I clearly asked multiple times if this price included breakfast and all taxes. I was told yes, this price did include all taxes and breakfast. On check in at the hotel, I was given another price to pay which was almost 400TT more than the quoted price when I booked. I was shocked and of course, unhappy. I was told the person who booked my room must have made a mistake but this really is outrageous for a hotel to do to a guest and I was put in an uncomfortable situation.

I am a World of Hyatt member and was given the option to pre-order items to be in our room when we arrived. I thought this was a wonderful extra and so I arranged that drinks and food be in the room on arrival through the E-Concierge service, even though this had been confirmed through email and I had emailed the Hyatt directly about this beforehand, staff at check in did not know anything about this.

After talking to the manager the day afterwards about the room, I was offered 20USD compensation for the discomforts. I accepted this at the time but on reflection I realise this is a joke. When I told my friends about this they were shocked and horrified at our experience and the very small compensation which they found insulting given the standard of the room.

The Hyatt is a beautiful hotel and most of the staff are wonderful, however, our experience was unsatisfactory and lets down the reputation of the Hyatt chain.

My husband and I made an impromptu visit to Hyatt for our 1st wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed. The excellent service started with booking the room the day before. The reception desk was so friendly and accommodating as I wanted a room with a bathtub and they tried their best to source one. On the day itself we were warmly welcomed and the customer service was excellent by the pool and the dining area... although the latter was crowded and we didn't have reservations we were seated almost immediately as a place was created for us... And for breakfast we were given a piece of complimentary cake and a balloon and Ed Sheeran's music played in the background. It was super romantic.

Nice hotel. Food is expensive. If you want to go to a Restaurant or to a Pharmacy you have to take a cab which is US$24 round trip. Excellent waterfront view and walking area. One of the good things is that if you have breakfast included in your rate, and you have an early flight, they will bring it to your room at no extra charge, unlike other hotels.

The views of the waterfront are a delight and a great place to start the day with breakfast or to watch the sunset at dinner. The breakfast is a wonderful, a bit pricey but there is so much to choose from and the food is of high quality as one might expect. My feelings about the dinner menu were more mixed. However, the sushi was amazing, fresh and really tasty.

The rooms are furnished to a high quality and the house keeping team are meticulous. I found the air conditioning made the room a little too cold for me, so I would advise to bring a sweater or light covering.

I booked Club Access which includes a continental breakfast and soft drinks all day. Between the hours of 6-8pm you can access a buffet which is generally cold with one or two hot items (e.g. patties, chicken wings, spaghetti Bolognese). I didn't find this to be good value and a little inconvenient. You can only access the beverages from a room downstairs, so if you are by the pool you either have to pay extra for your soft drinks or you have to go down four flights to get a drink which has to be consumed in the Club Access room. I found this to be really inconvenient and just didn't bother. I was underwhelmed by the continental breakfast and decided to pay for the buffet breakfast. The food made available in the evening was better, but it was often cold and there were times when I craved a hot meal, so again I ended up paying for a meal. Again having access to alcohol between 6-8pm was OK but what is available is limited and I ended up ordering cocktails from the pool bar as they were much nicer. All in all, I am not convinced it is value for money.

All in all I found the staff to be super helpful and really polite and no task was too difficult. They really bent over backwards to assist with any query I might have. On the flip side my friend and colleague had a very different experience, as a Black Trinidadian with a country accent he would often get approached as a visitor rather than a guest at the hotel, so he always felt he had to have his room key available to show staff. Once they established he was a guest they were very attentive, but the issue remains that this is not something he should have to experience in the first place.

I just had breakfast this morning it was 40usd. So maybe if you want to book breakfast separately and then go downstairs on days you feel like splurging. Also there are rituals coffee shops close by as I walk into the town shopping area all the time. Beware of the homeless and beggars tho as it is a lot! However you get things way cheaper in town.

Hello, depending on the time of your arrival, the traffic may cause what is otherwise a 30-40 minute journey into more than an hour. You can ask at the airport for an official taxi to be recommended to you. Hyatt can organise a taxi for you for your other needs. It it generally safe to walk around the hotel area, but I would not recommend it for shopping purposes. You should ask for a taxi to take you to a mall and pick you back up.
