Detailed Reviews
I hesitate to review this honestly bc I don’t want to flood the place with new guests but if your looking for views and apartment style living with your own private pool, then VM is your vacation destination. Guest relations is top notch beginning with Anne who takes care of all your travel issues and booking to Charles, who meets you at the airport and is a fountain of information from your first day. Elvin will stop by on Thursday to clean your pool and anything you need, text Charles and it will be taken care of. Down at the end of the road is TLC Kitchen for an excellent breakfast and lunch, no frills but food is really satisfying and just across the street is Duggans Reef a restaurant right on the water with really delicious food and the best steaks on STX. Taking a less than 10 minute drive to Point Udall before sunrise to watch the sun rise at the Easternmost tip of the United States is not to be missed!

We just spent 2 weeks in December in St Croix at this beautiful property. This condo was equipped with everything that we could have ever needed and more. We enjoyed the private pool every day. The separate family room/office was the perfect place to unwind after a day of diving, horseback riding, or hiking. We highly recommend this property and look forward to returning in the future.

The Villas Madeleine are 43 villas (mostly 2BR / 2BA en suite) with individual, private pools set on a hillside at the east end of St. Croix. The beaches are close. Good restaurants are within 2-15 minutes drive. The breezes are magnificent (no A/C necessary during any of my visits in February through May). The maintenance is exceptional by a delightful staff. The villas are cleaned well. But . . .
Not all the villas are the same. Some have better views, and some no view. Some have renovated bathrooms and kitchen, and some are quite old (but still clean). Most have renovated pools, but at least one doesn't (and that's a big problem because of chipped tiles that can be the enemy of bare feet). Some have sliding screens, and some do not (and that's a big problem because mosquitos will haunt you 24/7). The outdoor furniture is of varying quality and age. Many other subtle differences (pool floats, kitchen equipment, beds, etc.). Definitely insist on a villa with a renovated pool and sliding screens on all doors.

Friends booked a two bedroom villa - our unit was adequate but a bit outdated in comfort measures as mattress/linens very worn. Common areas was nice -kitchen very small but had amenities. We had a view of the water but not of Buck Island so when booking make sure you request this if you specifically want. Private pool was nice feature although needs some maintenance and pool floats very worn. Tennis courts are worn and could use some lawn maintenance. Separate A/C for bedrooms was needed as very humid and mosquitoes were active. Fortunately, our friends did not need to use the washer/dryer as they were in our guest quarters. On arrival, our greeter was late at the airport which delayed us a bit. There was a booklet of information from the owners that was helpful. Would stay at Villa Madeline again if visit St. Croix but would request a different unit with view of Buck Island.

Villa was super clean and very well taken care of. Beatutiful breeze, wonderful weather and great times. Pool would have been much better if heated or had a solar cover, sometimes it was too cold to really enjoy. A/C was only used in the bedroom at bedtime and was fine for the temps. Only issue is when leaving i looked at the AC unit in the wall and there was a TON of black mold on the insite of the unit and it made me a little creeped out. Im sure it is par for the course though. Just an idea to Seaview palms unit owner, they should get it cleaned out ASAP. loved the entire trip and how everything was handled from start to finish

Beautiful small gated community featuring intimate villas with private pools. We enjoyed our stay very much. There is a constant breeze coming off the Caribbean and a beautiful ocean view. I was surprised how quiet and peaceful we found the community to be. There is an amazing restaurant directly across the street called Duggan’s Reef not to be missed. This end of the island is the more desirable location to stay. We were very pleased with our choice to stay here.

Stayed at Unit 26 (Toucan House) with our daughter, who stayed in a self-contained bedroom that opens to the pool. The friendly property managers (Kim and Larry) met us at the airport, arranged for car rental (a must on the east end of the island), and managed to replace the broken refrigerator almost immediately after giving $60 for dinner to make up for the inconvenience.
Short walk to the casino and the Divi resort, where there's live music almost every night. Try the lobster salad at the Starlite restaurant in the resort. Probably the best restaurant on the island, Dugan's Reef, is across the highway from the entrance to the complex and a very good deli is at the entrance.
The island is beautiful, mostly undeveloped, has good shopping, wonderful food, and has quite a bit of history. It's also one of the few Caribbean islands that is great for bicycling (I rode almost every day). Knowing very little about the island on arrival, our stay here turned out to be one of our best family vacations ever.

We have traveled to St. Croix several times. We normally stay at the Divi or Buccaneer, both excellent properties. This time, however, everyone was completely booked because Hovensa Oil Refinery had 1800 workers on the island. We ended up renting a villa at Villa Madeleine for the week.
It was a pleasant stay! We love it way out on the east end so you definately need a car. Some of the villas overlook Teague Bay to the north, our's overlooked the south shore and the Divi Casino.
Villas are individually owned. Some are rented, some are not. You must go through stcroixislandvillas.com or vacationstcroix.com to find out what's available.
Although some of the furnishings, linens, etc, weren't something we would use, we found the unit quite acceptable, clean and spacious. Each unit has it's own pool...just a few steps outside your bedroom. And all of the villas are set up in such a way that you still have privacy at your pool. Bedrooms, bathrooms and living rooms were decent. A small kitchen was great for heating up leftovers. The guest bedroom, which we didn't use, had a washer and dryer, two single beds that could be put together, and another shower/bathroom.
The unit had air (which was discouraged), ceiling fans, cable tv and high speed internet capability. You have to go outside to get a cell signal, usually Cingular or Sprint.
The only noticable noise came from some generator or air conditioning unit down at the Divi Casino.
Nearby restaurants: Lori's Just in Case Deli and Duggan's Reef at the bottom of the hill, Chicken Charlie's Roadhouse in Solitude, The Cultured Pelican (italian) nearby, the Divi restaurant, Cheyney Bay restaurant, and Cheeseburgers in America's Paradise. We tried Bacchus for the first time and it was very good. Tuesday night's Buffet at Hotel on the Cay was great! Gertrudes (near Hovensa) Friday night buffet was very good. And don't miss out on lunch in downtown Christiansted at Harveys!!!! It may look like a dive, but the Harvey family are gracious hosts. Just pick one of their several lunch items and it comes packed with a plate of peas and rice, mac & cheese, cole slaw, fungee, plantains, and more! You leave stuffed!
Visit Point Udall, the furthest east of the US, while you're there. Unfortunately, USVI hasn't cleaned off the grahfiti. Llewelyn plays at Cheeseburgers on Saturday nights. Bill Bass plays at the Buccaneer on Sunday nights. Don't miss them!
Use Duggan's beach or the Divi beach. You can't go wrong.
Been to over 20 islands....we love St. Croix's east end!

+1
My husband and I (late 30's) just got back from a week at Villa Madeleine (Caribe Villa). Villa exceeded our expectations- it was furnished beautifully in classic West Indian style and had everything you could possibly need to be very comfortable for a week: Dishware, pots/pans, a blender, a coffee pot, spices, beach towels, games, DVD players with DVD's, three TV's with satellite TV (Ok, we had to watch a New England Patriots game one night, even on vacation...), a washer/dryer, ironing board, you name it, this villa had it. Master bedroom and living room opened out to our private patio and full sized swimming pool; view was gorgeous! We overlooked Buck Island and Teague Bay and high on our perch, we had wonderful breezes all week long and were never sweltering. Our villa had two bedrooms and this would be a great place to vacation with another couple or with older kids. Bedrooms both overlook the pool, but are completely private/separate and both have full sized private bathrooms. Second bedroom was nice sized and had twin beds and french doors leading to the patio. Note: Washer and Dryer are in this unit in the closet (it took us a while to find these!).
I would recommend this location for independent minded travellers who enjoy privacy and beautiful views with spacious and lovely accomodations. You will not get room service here or have daily maid service, however, you have basically an entire house with pool to yourself (for the cost of a hotel room) in the loveliest location on this very lovely island. You will need a car if you stay here (I would recommend a car at any accomodation on this island- you must get out and explore!). Driving is on the left, but roads and signs are very good (most), especially compared to other islands we have visited.
There is a great gourmet store/deli/bakery at the bottom on the hill (Lori's) from Villa Madeleine and there is a very good restaurant, Duggan's, right across the street. We enjoyed the variety of dining on St. Croix - there is literally something for everyone in any price range: Brew Pub in Christiansted, Rumrunners, Cheeseburgers in American Paradise, Savant (our favorite), Duggan's, and Sunset Grill (West End- great spot for lunch, right on a pretty beach!). We enjoyed the beach and the beach bar at Divi Resort (down the hill from V.M.) and also liked the atmosphere at the Deep End bar at Tamarind Reef. We checked out Buccaneer one afternoon and the grounds were lovely and the beach seemed very nice, but the beach was filled with lots of kids, so not super quiet and relaxing if that is what you are looking for (maybe it was just the time we were there).
A few hints (after talking to a local bartender): Cheapest rum and spirits can be found at Kmart (yes....Kmart- there's one on the island). We're talking $3 something for Cruzan rum per bottle! We also used the extremely clean and well appointed Kmart to stock up on water, snacks, sun tan lotion, coffee, cereal, etc. It was really enjoyable having our own kitchen for morning coffee, breakfast, and afternoon cocktails and snacks.
Enjoy St. Croix! It's laid-back, easy going, and very lovely. It was hard to leave. We will definitely be back!

Staying here was a fantastic experience. The villa that I stayed in was decorated very well and tastefully. It had everything you could need, from beach towels to guidebooks, to board games. There was even high speed internet access. The private pool was fabulous and very romantic. In fact the whole place was perfect if you want to get away from it all. It was very secluded and I never actually saw another person while I was there except the man at the guards gate who would wave every time we drove through. The views are excellent. I think every villa faces the ocean.
My only complaint was the bed which was uncomfortable, but I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others. I had a fantastic time.

Hi Betsy,
Each unit is individually owned and only certain owners offer their villas for rent. The average price per night is set by each owner so I can’t tell what those might be specifically, but I know that the average per night runs around $235 for two occupants.
