My husband returned from a 10-day stay at the Reef Golf and Beach resort on April 29, 2006 and had a wonderful time. The Reef is located on the East End of St Croix which is beautiful and serene. Our 1-bedroom loft villa was confortable, tastefully decorated, and immaculate. The villa had a full kitchen which saved us a great deal of money on food; we ate breakfast and lunch in, and many evenings had a candle lit BBQ and a bottle of wine (Or frozen Rum Drinks) on the patio. The view from our patio was beautiful, overlooking the complex, the golf course and the water. The beach is within walking distance and there is a great restaurant, Duggans right on the beach. The deli and convenience store on the property came in very handy for a quick replensihment of supplies. There is also a 9-hole golf course, a pool, and tennis on the premises. The beaches on St Croix are beautiful and uncrowded. Definitely check out Sandy Point on the West End. Its a turtle nesting sanctuary and is only open on the weekends. The day we were there, we saw only 5 other people the entire day and the water was so warm it was like sitting is a spa. All the beaches were beautiful, Shoys and Grapetree Bay are also great for swimming and snorkeling. We had a great vacation and will definitely go back to St. Croix next year. We've already reserved the same villa again for next year. I would highly recommend St. Croix and the Reef has everything you could possibly want from a vacation.

My wife and and I stayed at Villa Virginia at the Reef on the East End of St. Croix for a week in October and had a wonderful time. The Reef is a beautiful gated resort community complete with a 9-hole golf course, a big pool and quiet beach. I would definitely recommend this resort and this one-bedroom villa. The patio faces the golf course which makes it very private and has a great view of the ocean. My wife and I enjoyed coctails on the patio and just looking at the ocean. The week before we arrived, St. Croix had quite a bit of rain and some flooding but the weather was beautiful while we were there. The locals were very happy about the rain, apparently it hardly ever rains like that. It rained a few times whiel we were there but it was quick showers. The Villa has a full kitchen with a gas grill outside which definitely saved us money on meals. I would recommend Cheesburgers in America's Paradise for a good burger and beer. A bit more expensive but worth trying are Duggans at the Reef and the Restaurant at the Buccaneer hotel. This was our second trip to St. Croix but our first staying at the Reef. We will definitely go back again next year.

For our first trip to St Croix we researched several options of where to stay. We finally settled on a villa at The Reef and we were rewarded for our choice. Nestled in the rolling hills above Teague Bay, the community/resort is a perfect launching pad for all the great activities we enjoyed on this lovely island. The resort is on the east side of the island with breathtaking views of Buck Island. We were able to enjoy some of the finest snorkeling ever with a wonderful reef just a few miles off shore. The local golf course was a joy to play and work on our game. As budding cyclists, The Reef was a perfect place to start our rides into St Croix challenging but rewarding terrain. The pool was perfect in size for relaxing in the afternoon or enjoying a little warm up swim in the morning. There are a some convenient and very nice restaurants nearby, but we really enjoyed loading up on food and utilizing the perfectly stocked kitchen and spectacular patio with grill. Enjoying freshly grilled fish and a glass of wine overlooking the ocean was the perfect way to end our exciting days. We strongly recommend coming to St. Croix and if so, you will be rewarded with a stay at The Reef.

What do you say to no cell phone coverage, very limited internet access, and constant power outages? The bathrooms were claustrophobic and the air conditioner barely cools off the unit and you will learn how to sweat profusely. The unit itself is such a long drive from town where everything is happening. The air conditioner barely cools off the unit and you will learn how to sweat profusely. You can't rely on taxis out on the end of the island and there are no buses as there are on St. Thomas. Very isolated and the beach was nothing to brag about as it was all seaweed after you walk into the water. The beach is not walking distance from the rental as the owners clearly stated. The only thing we liked was the proximity to the casino. Not my idea of a vacation.

The Reef was built several decades ago. Many properties have been upgraded and are in good condition. Unfortunately, the property we stayed in had iffy hot water upstairs, very little water pressure, clanky loud fan and a/c, a broken washing machine, and was filled with the owners items (no room in closet etc). To top it off, the owner kept the security deposit on flimsy excuses (fan blades needed balance, the dryer had moved etc). Lots to like at the Reef, but, ask questions and take careful looks at the pictures and owners history.

I'm a frequent visitor to St. Croix and have stayed in hotels and when we are a large group have rented villas. This visit was solo and pulled together quickly. I was very fortunate to be able to rent this well appointed, very clean, condo with a great view. Neighbors were friendly and I felt safe. I don't golf, but I enjoyed watching the carts flying up and down the hill. The owners were happy to let my grandchildren, who live on island, visit and we enjoyed cooking in for most of the time. Duggan's made everyone happy, and the staff was willing to cook a take-out one night. I am going back in a month and, disappointingly, the villa is booked. I will definitely re-book this cheerful unit, either alone or with my husband.

Just got home from our third trip to St Croix. After having some disappointing stays at several of the hotels, we went through VRBO and stayed here. We had played golf out here before and ate at the nearby restaurants so we knew we loved the east end of the island. So happy to have finally found a great one bedroom villa to rent and stay at in the future. Completely redone and having everything we needed we were super satisfied. We loved that the walls of the majority of villas are not shared with other places. So many rentals on the island share walls or roof/ceilings and you hear your neighbors like a hotel. Not here and it was a nice peaceful private stay. Terrific view and close to great snorkeling. We did the Buck Island sailing tour from the nearby St Croix Yacht Club and highly recommend that. We truly loved the spacious and comfortable villa and look forward to staying there on our future trips.

Caveat Emptor “Let the buyer beware”
Unit # 110 = 1 bedroom 1.5 bath

I used that caption because our original date was December 17-23rd, 2017. Due to Hurricane Maria, we were contacted in November to change our dates because the island did not have electricity. At the time of booking through VRBO, I needed to buy Trip Insurance because THIS OWNER WILL NOT GIVE YOU A REFUND DUE TO A NATURAL DISASTER! We changed our dates to June 9-16th, 2018. I now understand why the owner would not give a refund. The condo was NOT AS ADVERTISED!

First, the directions to the condo were inadequate. The streets have numbers like HWY signs 80, 70, 66, 703 and not names. They change numbers when you make a turn to the right or left going along the road. I doubted my driving because it was in the evening after 4pm, and this was a new place. I have experience driving on the left so that was NOT my problem. My problem was lack of signage. From that point, we used landmarks. This blown out home, or that blown out business.

We arrive at THE REEF to the gate and followed the instructions on the paperwork that was received via email from ANNE the property manager. Once we arrived on the island, we no longer dealt with ANNE now I had the owner JENNIFER in New York. We arrive at the gate at about 5:30ish. I put in the number and nothing happens. It sounds like it’s ringing and then there is a busy signal. At this point, after being up since 4am, changing planes, screaming children, delayed flight and no food, we need to get into the condo. NO WAY!

I drive back to the closest gas station, market, local hangout, Ziggys. They were very helpful. They tried their landline and apparently the phone lines were down, hence no gate entry because it calls her home number. I had no cell service and then miraculously, I have 1 bar on my cell. I called the owner and spoke to her. She could not understand why I was not able to get in. She suggested for me to drive back and try again.

I drove back and the gate was not calling because the lines were still down. This was very frustrating. Thank Goodness another renter showed up and used his clicker. We did get into the condo and had our own clicker so the gate was no longer a problem. Once I checked in with the office on Monday, they told be about a secret hiding place for the spare key that will open the other gate. Why didn’t the owner tell me this???

We are now inside the condo and it’s after 6pm. The inside temperature of the condo was at least 90 degrees!! There is only 1 A/C unit which is a wall unit on the second floor in the loft bedroom area. We were arriving and they did not have the condo ready for us. That includes having the condo cooled down for your renters. This is the FIRST CONDO I EVER RENTED FROM VRBO WHEREBY IT ADVERTISED AIR CONDITIONING and I'M SWEATING. Actually, the A/C cools the stairs because it moves up and down. The A/C was NOT on when we arrived, so our first night was very HOT, HUMID and UNCOMFORTABLE. Thank goodness for the black small table top fan. We had to move that small fan from downstairs to upstairs when it’s time for bed so that the air was circulating. We tried to close the louver windows in order for the A/C to get cold. NO WAY. We had to reopen the louvers in order for the air to circulate. I have never gone on vacation where it said AIR CONDITIONING and I’m sweating downstairs every day just getting juice from the fridge!

Other amenities that are promoted are tennis courts and a beach. The tennis courts were not fixed since Hurricane Maria. The beach is not cared for or cleaned because it was covered in 1.5 foot tall African seaweed. The beach is across the street and not directly on the property. We went there for 30 minutes and it was so gross with all the seaweed in the water all around you, that we left the beach and went to the pool. I’m sorry to say this but, I DID NOT BOOK A CONDO IN ST. CROIX TO GO TO THE POOL! I want to be in that blue water!!

On Monday, I checked into the office and told them about our 2 days so far. The office manager, Denise, was shocked at all I told her. She felt so bad that she gave me her personal cell phone that if we had any further problems to reach out to her. A sweet person.

Now let’s talk about the condo itself. AIR CONDITIONING throughout – LIE! It never got below 80 degrees in that condo. Kitchen was filthy. I take Clorox Wipes on vacation. When I used them on that kitchen counter top, my hand was dirty. The stove was electric and had burners that were pushed up and did not work. I refused to cook there using their utensils or anything since the counter top was filthy, I could just imagine the cleanliness of the glasses, silverware, pots or pans. Every time we touched the cabinets or doors, they were moist and sticky. When we went shopping at the grocery store, I purchased plastic spoons, forks and paper plates.

Washer and dryer are located outside in wooden cabinets. They were very old. I always bring a Tide Washing Machine Cleaner to any condo that advertises a washing machine that I plan to use. We had difficulty emptying the washer because the clothes on the bottom could not be reached. I had to use a spoon to scoop out my socks and underwear. The dryer’s lint vent was not cleaned and I pulled so much lint out, I could have made a sweater.

We did not have a landline or TV until Monday night. The remote to change the channels did not have batteries. I found batteries that were extras for the A/C remote upstairs and put them in the Channel Changer remote. We had a total of 10 channels to view and there was only 1 TV, and it was downstairs. We had to move the table top fan in front of us so that we would not be sweating while watching TV. We like to watch the local news and weather at the very least.

The condo has an internet hotspot. The owner sent me a photo via text of the Network Key ID and the password. They have a piece of paper about the condo but most of the information is incorrect or does not apply. I had to ask the owner where the additional toilet paper and paper towels were located. I then had to go on a search and destroy mission to find items that should be listed on an information sheet. I did not find trash bags, so when we went shopping, I purchased garbage bags.

This condo looks like the owner bought it and just uses it as a personal vacation spot a few times a year and rents it out the remaining time. Looking at the appearance of the inside of the condo and its contents, not a penny has been put into this condo to keep it looking nice. The lights in the bathrooms do not work. The master bath sink has 3 lights but only 1 was working. The master sink was a slow drain so when you brushed your teeth, the water was still there after you were done. In the downstairs ½ bath, there were many lights along the two sides but only 3 lights were working. Duct tape was on the wall behind the toilet where the water and the toilet meet. Duct tape was all over. On the front door lock, on the floor in the kitchen, on the front door itself. WE ARE ATTACHING PHOTOS!

If you want to rent this condo good luck finding stuff and its located in a food desert. There’s a breakfast/lunch place next door, TLC Kitchen, and they are open Wednesday through Sunday. That’s it! There are no other local places to eat. The Reef is very isolated. If your looking for a step above camping and want to be alone, and you like the heat, then this is the condo for you.

I also find the previous reviews I’ve read about this condo since Hurricane Maria are not accurate. I have given a complete accurate account of this condo including photos. If it wasn’t so expensive, we would have left the condo, lost $1095.00 for the week and stayed in a hotel. We will not be returning to The Reef or this condo # 110.

I stayed at the Reef Golf and Beach Club for a week and found the nicest unit to be Dreamy Island Villa. Fully stocked, with gold, and great restaurants. Key was having AC units and comfortable beds! View from unit 143 was oustanding. Loved the outdoor shower, great fom returning from the beach. Place had fully stocked kitchen and sweet patio with a grill.

It was my first time back at the REEF in 30 years...omgosh...such a trip down memory lane...Our condo was excellent (419) views spectacular, accommodations were clean, well appointed and comfortable. Used BubblesUSVI.com to stock our condo prior to arrival and were not disappointed. Everything was perfect. Spent a considerable amount of time at Duggans Reef, Bluewater Terrace, Tavern 1844, Cheeseburgers in American Paradise, Deep End Bar (at Tamarind Reef Resort), Buccaneer Resort (Breakfast and Massage), Angry Nates, RumRunners, and Divi Resort and Casino...Sonya's is a must for Cruzan Friendship bracelets, LLewlynns Charters are the only snorkeling adventure to Buck Island...Remember to THINK LEFT WHEN DRIVING...and slow down this is the Island of NO HURRY....RELAX, ENJOY, AND FORGET.....ENJOY THE ISLAND MON....We had the best vacation and are booking again in May 2013.....reserve early...and LIFE IN THE LEFT LANE IS FABULOUS....
