It's crazy to see how differently people can perceive the same resort. I tend to think many of the negative reviews for this place (and other places on St. Croix) come from the Sandals/Club Med types.

Restaurant almost non-existent, no dinner served weeknights and $15 for Perdue frozen wings with sauce thrown on them. The old restaurant burned down months ago but new owners can't seem...More
Traveled to St. Croix to attend a destination wedding. Chenay Bay did a good job with the wedding and reception. We stayed before and after the event. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Our cottage was cute, basic, and met our needs. A/C worked...More

Not sure how you define "actual beach," but this is a beach in the sense that sand runs gradually from land to water. It's a great place to sit all day. Lounges are provided. It's inside of a bay, protected by reefs, so the water is flat like a pond. No waves or surfing, but the water is warm and good for swimming. Snorkelling is superb.
