Marriott's Frenchman's Cove garners praise for its spacious and clean rooms, offering stunning views that many guests appreciate. According to several travelers, the staff's friendliness stands out, although some have encountered slow food service and pressures to make purchases.
While the resort's cleanliness and maintenance receive commendations, the experience can be marred by pricey taxis and a limited selection of dining options. Amenities are well-received, but guests should be aware of expensive groceries and ongoing construction.

We stayed in St. John building (room 553) and the location and room were perfect for our two week stay! The room is beautiful with a picture perfect view of the Caribbean as soon as you open the door!. I was reluctant to stay in St. John building after reading other reviews about the long trek to the pool, but I'm actually glad we stayed in that building. he view was amazing! Yes, you do have to take 3 elevators to get to the beach and pool but that really was not a bad thing. We went up and down to our room many times and it was fine.
The room had everything we needed and more. Special shout out to ALONZO and CISCO (the maintenance guys). Our freezer quit working the 2nd day we were there and after reporting it and Alonzo checking it, we had a new refrigerator in our room without 30 minutes. Alonzo and Cisco were so accommodating and when I thanked them, Cisco thanked ME for being there and said without tourists, they wouldn't have a job. You could tell he is just an all around positive guy. They wore their masks when they came in and took all hygienic precautions when entering our villa.
Speaking of hygiene, the entire Marriott Frenchman's Cove staff following strict hygiene protocols around the resort. I feel like there was someone standing around each elevator to clean it once someone got off and before the next person came in. I found each staff member we encountered to be very courteous and thankful to be there and thankful for us to be there.
The beach is beautiful, the pool is refreshing, and the food and bar area followed all protocols to ensure no one would get Covid-19. Oh, can't forget the 3-6 happy hour! Yes, you have to wear your mask when walking in the bar/food area and we appreciated that.
We will DEFINITELY be back! Can't give this place enough stars... They were fabulous and we were so happy to be there! Almost booked a 3rd week, but had to go home eventually :).
Forgot to mention, hand sanitizer is located throughout the building and in each elevator. The beds are the best I've slept in at a hotel, and the sunset views are breathtaking.

This resort has everything you want in a vacation club. Note it is not a traditional hotel, so there is only 1 restaurant and it is expensive and mediocre. Every suite however has a fully stocked kitchen and there's a grocery store that delivers. The pool and beach are small but rarely overcrowded. The views are beautiful. My only complaint is that they charge the same number of vacation club points for every room. While most have unobstructed views there is a good number with partially or even totally obstructed views. To add insult to injury these same rooms are far from the pool and beach, you have to cross 2 streets and take 3 elevators to get there. These rooms should be priced less than those with perfect views only a short walk from the amenities. As you have no way of knowing where you'll end up, and requests made prior to arrival have no real impact, I won't likely return. Likely all the best rooms go to owners as opposed to those using points to stay. My room had a nice view but I had to try to ignore satellite dishes and A/C units on the roof of the next building. One floor lower and I'd have had no view at all, which would have ruined the trip.

We had our timeshare in Hawaii unusable due to the crazy quarantine situation in Kauai, and traded our Waiohai week for a week in USVI. What a great idea. Entry into USVI was a piece of cake - got a COVID test 5 days prior to arrival, uploaded the test and filled out the questionnaire, QR code was generated and scanned on arrival. We rented a car (that was a horrible experience) so that we could explore the island, as the condo is located out of Charlotte Amalie and away from most of the other beaches. Arrival and check in was easy, there's even a check in available that you can do without exiting your car. We asked for a condo with a view and was given a unit in the Jost Van Dyke building, floor 6, with a lanai that we used frequently. Access to pool and beach was easy, and everyone was compliant with the masking at the pool and beach. Enjoyed the snorkeling around the rocky points, where we visited a large family of cuttlefish daily. Unit was spic and span clean, furnishings were in good condition, everything was in tip-top shape.

I am a bit of hotel snob so my opinion is just that my opinion 🤣We stayed in room 524, the amenities they offer are great for family's. It was complete with dishes, silverware, ☕ and 🍵. Beach towels also provided...... Grills outside was nice for those who cooked. It was our home away from home. Due to Covid rooms are not cleaned daily. I was prepare as I read other reviews. The staff was friendly and everyone followed the safety guidelines, so I felt safe. If you needed anything, the staff will kindly deliver to your room in a nice marriott bag. I loved the water room and on suite bathroom. Please bring your spray the mosquitoes will get you. The pool and gym are open and both are very nice. You have a water view from any room so that was an added plus. We will be back.

My husband and I took our 10 year anniversary trip to St. Thomas USVI, January 2021. At the airport I pulled a ligament in my right knee, so I was a little worried about getting around at the Marriott Frenchman's Cove. Upon checking in I asked the front desk lady for something easy and accessible. She gave us a villa next to the elevator, so that made it easy to get around and still have a good view of the ocean. We didn't have our rental car yet, so security even drove us down to the elevator to make it easier for me to get settled in.
The next day I went to take a bath and the water was green. Kind of freaked me out, but engineering showed up and let me know that it was the water heater and they quickly took care of the problem. They even sent housekeeping over to reclean the tub for me. Everything was done within 2 hours. Great service!
The interior accommodations are really nice and quality. Beds are comfortable, good linens, nice pillows and there must be dehumidifiers installed because the humidity level in the room was not bad at all. Loved having the washer and dryer to easily wash beach clothes daily.
The kitchen has everything you need. We especially like the blender for mixed drinks. Dinner on our balcony at night watching the sunset was beautiful. The AC worked great. Everything was very clean and we felt safe from Covid-19. All staff was wearing masks and very conscious of social distancing.
The beach is small but very nice. If you want a chair, you need to go early. All the good spots get taken right away.
The first few days we did not have a car, so we called the front desk and they would always send a taxi right down to our building. That was great considering my knee injury. When we did get a car there was plenty of parking including covered parking under our building and outdoor parking on the drive ways. Never had trouble parking and it was free.
Internet connection was great. We used it for streaming and surfing without any problems. That was also free.
The Bar and Grille was yummy!
I can't say one bad thing about this place. I will definitely be back!

We arrived on July 1 and enjoyed 10 days at the Frenchman's Cove. This was our 5th time to visit since 2012, and it is better every time. They are just re-opening after Covid-19, but everything seems to be running smoothly. It is different, but what isn't? Towel's delivered to your room quickly, plenty of spacing for social distancing, and the pool and beach are as wonderful as ever. Rooms were renovated in the last year or so and everything is so nice and fresh! Always a great time, and it is becoming a home away from home. Washer and dryer in the room allow us to pack lighter and take home clean clothes, always hot water, plenty of kitchen utensils, wonderful grills...what more can you ask for to vacation during the unusual times we are experiencing in 2020?? Thank you Marriott Frenchman's Cove for being a wonderful retreat during this challenging time. We will be back!!

Traded my Grand Vista Timeshare to here for one week. As usual, when u are not an owner and either trade using Interval or rent from another owner, they try to place you in the least desirable room's. With me they put us in the back building at the far end, top floor. Great view of beach and island, and also the air conditioning vents and units on the building below us. It was also a 3 elevator trip to get to beach With waiting its like 10 minutes to get down to beach. When i asked to change they charged me $89.00 because i had entered the room and left my suitcases there. They did not tell me this at check in. Also they gave me one option for a room below. They said there were 85% booked but based on the fact that i could still get a chair at the pool and beach at 10:00 AM and based on experience with Marriott Timeshares, they were at most 30% occupied. The room they did give me was very nice. The service at the pool and beach were excellent. Potter did a great job and was vey pleasant. The pool is a little outdated and could use a refurbishing but the rooms look like they were recently done over. very clean and comfortable. Given the Covid issues, we had no problem taking out our own garbage and towels were promptly replaced when requested. The concierge Deborah Hamm was a little rough on the edges . she was upset that i did not wait by my phone when i asked her to make reservations. her first recommendation was a pizza place. From that point forward i used open table to make my own reservations. They also seemed upset that i refused to take a timeshare tour. probably why they stuffed me in an inconvenient room upon check in. Market place is also very small and limited compared to other timeshares. all in all the resort is nice. Beach is small and i hate to be there for the chair fights when resort is 100% occupied. Will likely go back

Last year (before covid) my friend invited me to come down to St. Thomas. We stayed at a hotel close to the airport. Can't remember the name, but it was not anything "extra." However, we loved St. Thomas, generally. This year (during covid) my husband and I decided to get away for a week to celebrate his retirement and an early birthday. Frenchman's Cove did not disappoint. Great care was taken to ensure the 2-bedroom villa was clean. In fact, it was pristine! And well stocked with everything you could possibly want. If you needed more towels, toiletries, coffee, etc., they placed the items in a beautiful Marriott shopping bag so no one entered your room during the visit. They gave us a bottle of Chardonnay upon arrival, had socially distanced activities, and did everything they could to enforce the use of masks. One person per elevator unless part of a family, etc. The only down side is the fact that there is only one restaurant with a limited menu. But the wonderful bartenders with the generous portions of "spirits" made up it. The view from our villa was breathtaking! I highly recommend this resort; especially at this time of year since it was not terribly crowded.

2 years ago I wrote the review below. It all still stands. A few things to add in the time of COVID: The staff (and most people on the island) was good about wearing masks and the property felt very clean. As guests, you need to do your best to keep your distance from others but the resort was not crowded and you could always find beach and pool chairs. This time, our 2nd time at this hotel, we had a slight issue with our room. Rita (the rooms controller) and her staff went above and beyond to resolve the issue and make sure we had a wonderful vacation. Everything was handled as remotely as possible. No housekeeping but you could always request anything you needed. We love this property so much. This was the break we needed after 5 months quarantining in NYC. Thank you!!
Previous review: This is a beautiful property on a gorgeous setting. The water is crystal clear and the snorkeling is great. Even though it's large, it feels intimate. The pool and beach are very close together so you can easily go from one to the other. The rooms are lovely and well appointed, all with amazing views. There is so much to do. A few hi-lites: The Cat boat trip, night time kayak, trip to St. John - Trunk Bay, Secret Harbor Beach, Lindberg beach (amazing snorkeling). The ONLY downside is the groceries are REALLY expensive (and we live in NYC!). We would go back in a minute!

Our family of four (2 adults, 2 children ages 9 and 11) had a lovely trip to Marriott's Frenchman Cove over the new year.
The resort was gorgeous, rooms were well appointed and comfortable, staff was friendly and helpful. The grounds were pristine and shared spaces were welcoming and well kept. The pool area and beach were clean and big enough to swim and play comfortably.
Natalie at the Activity Center helped book our excursions and offered to personally help me when I had some concerns about a BVI trip we reserved. Thank you Natalie! We loved The Cat snorkeling trip, Bad Kitty BVI tour (passports and $75 cash per person custom fee needed) and nighttime kayaking.
The one restaurant was small and very, very slow- but we were on vacation so it didn't matter! For example, it took us 1hr 15 minutes to get lunch after we ordered. The restaurant staff were nice and apologetic. It had a very limited menu and only two gluten free options which posed some challenges for my family. While some severs were well versed in making substitutions others were not. I suggest calling ahead if you have an allergy to notify the food manager. They had gf bread the week we were there! YAY! Plan on going off property a few nights for dinner. We really liked Mims!
In all, we had a terrific holiday at the Marriott Frenchman's and would return.
Note: bring lots of cash. Cabs are $8 per person each way and it really adds up!

It is not all inclusive.
Easy to get them but we pre booked our transport to get to the hotel, and knew the set amount expected. When there to travel about we found taxis at hotel waiting always. Taxis charge in zones, can be $9 ,$12 or $15 per. person one way. they will tell you upfront once knowing where you are going the cost.
I heard but cant confirm that they also charge for each piece of luggage

BTW, Moe's might deliver groceries. I don't know either way. We had a car and drove there. Call them and ask if you are interested.
Tongs are available near the grills for resort guests to use. A spatula can be found in the villa kitchen.
