If you book a stay at a Travelodge the best you can reasonably expect is a relatively dark room in a reasonably quiet location and an acceptably comfortable bed. Throw in some decent service and you would have to consider yourself satisfied. I checked in to Merthyr Travelodge at about 21:30, and the service from reception was brief but fantastic....

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. It has great facilities surrounding the hotel such as restaurants, pub, gym, pool, cinema and bowling. It is also very close to the town centre which is a lovely walk along the Taff Trail away. Will definitely visit again!

We booked and paid well in advance of our trip to Merthyr, for a jaunt in the Brecon Beacons. A very welcoming hotel, with a surprisingly spacious room for a Travelodge. Extra tea and coffee was available to help yourself at reception, with the hotel located on a large leisure park with pubs, restaurants and lots of other things to...

Me and my family had a fantastic stay and the warmest welcoming. The lad on the front desk was so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. He's a credit to the travelogde staff. The room was lovely and clean with plenty of towels and tea and coffee. Would definitely stay there again.

Stayed here for a few nights whilst walking in Brecon Beacons. Rooms typical Travelodge. Staff friendly and helpful. Tip get a room on front as back room was a little dark due to many trees however may not matter when leaves fall.

Great value for money . Close proximity to BPW and the Brecon Beacons. Nearby restaurants , cinema and supermarkets. Parking outside hotel . Rooms are basic but clean . Staff were friendly . A few wifi issues but these were easily sorted after a phone call .

Nice location for walking as well as eating out and nice having the cinema. Hotel could have been cleaner. The stairs and even our bedroom were not hoovered very well and the bathroom could have been cleaner.

On a tour of Wales with a friend from Canada and this was our last hotel. Typical Travelodge room, basic but adequate for the one night just for somewhere to sleep. Had a good nights sleep followed by a nice hot shower in the morning.. What more could you ask for.

Recent stay with my disabled husband and 93 year old father. Staff couldn't have been more helpful . The only problem we had was not the fault of anyone except travelodge policy of not providing equipment for those who need the bed raised.
