Nassau is a very busy and expensive place to stay which makes getting a one night hotel stay challenging if you need a layover for a flight. The Golden Palm is locates very close to the airport and the rates are just about as low as you will find for a decent place. This is not 5 star accommodations, more like university dorm feel in the common areas. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Breakfast was ok - nothing fancy but a few options. Staff were all very pleasant and the shuttle was priced reasonably at $12 each way.
I booked this spot for a quick getaway. This is right after hurricane Dorian hit Freeport so the weather in Nassau was still rainy and the sea was very rough. The pool wasn't operational nor was the hot tub but this was expected. The continental breakfast was basic but adequate. We arrived before checkin and our room was ready. It was clean, I have no issues with it. Their is free wifi and the rooms have a mini fridge and microwave. If you want to go to downtown Nassau, take the #12 OR #10 bus outside on the roadway. It's $1.50pp. Only complaint, not their fault is the planes fly directly overhead as the airport is 10mins away. Everyone was friendly and courteous to us. I'd recommend it, as long as you're not expecting a 4* hotel you will be fine.
The place is fine for a quick overnight. It is clean. It’s really convenient to the airport. The restaurants within walking distance are passable. If you are looking for resort style accommodations, this is NOT the place. They are working on this place fixing it up, but their DIY skills really aren’t up to par. They owner and his family are friendly and accommodating. The rest of the staff was just so so.
I did not like it, I could not get into the city. He did not give me my money back.🤬 I called them, they did little, simply saying that they can not return, because it was not my fault that I could not attend, I think they should have returned the money.
I called the day before to see if I could check in early. They said it would be no problem. When I arrived, they said it would be about 10 more minutes. I waited 2 hours. They offered no hotel information such as airport transport, wify, maps, check out time, nothing. Each time I asked about each of these basic things, the woman running the front desk answered as if she were annoyed with my questions. The hotel itself is very run down. It is clear that they are trying to make updates, but I think they are jumping the gun with allowing guests when the bathroom still had concrete crumbles in it, the knob for the shower wasn't on-kept falling off, there were no trash cans in the room, there was no water in the hot tub. In all of my years of travel, I have never had a staff member just walk into my room at midnight, while I was sleeping. I heard keys and male voices, woke up gasping, stunned and terrified to see my door opening and men entering my room just after midnight. The guy said "oh, sorry", shut the door and went away. I was shaking, holding my covers to my chest, until I felt angry. I went down the stairs to let them know that the room was indeed occupied. He blew me off, saying that there was a mix up with the rooms. I said it was unacceptable for that to happen, and no one apologized to me for it, no one made any of it up to me. I couldn't fall back asleep because I was too shaken. I was exhausted for my flight the next day. Terrible service.…
