We stayed one night at the Orange Hill Beach Inn & overall enjoyed our stay.

The room was nothing fancy (more like a motel room), but it was large & clean which are the main things. For us it was fine as we were just staying for one night after arriving from the UK in Nassau & flying out to Exuma the following morning.

There is a little restaurant on site that served dinner for reasonable (at Bahama prices) value. Service was good & we liked the honesty bar, which was great to be able to help yourselves to drinks.

What really stood out for us though were the staff! We had some issues with the Covid test we had taken prior to leaving the UK, apparently not being valid for our onward journey to Exuma, due to timings (despite the Bahamian Tourist / Covid board, telling us twice we wouldn't need an additional test, but that is another story!).

The lady at reception was extremely helpful as we were a bit stressed about getting another test for our morning flight, since the local clinic that did the tests were closed on a Saturday afternoon. She went above & beyond to arrange for somebody to come to the hotel & to test us, at a much cheaper price than the airport staff were quoting. Unfortunately we can't remember her name but she was very nice & really helped us out & we are very grateful for taking the stress away from us.

A man who served us dinner & also arranged for our taxi back to the airport in the morning was also really very friendly & helpful.

There is a little public beach across the road from the hotel which was nice. By most standards it would be an amazing beach, but once you have seen the beaches of Exuma it pales in comparison, so it's all relative!

All in all for a stopover, it is a very nice hotel for what you get & relatively good value in Nassau where everything is expensive (not helped by the GBP to USD exchange rate, making it extremely expensive for us Brits, but still oh so worth it for those stunning beaches & water!).

Orange Hill Inn just west of busy and invaded Nassau is an oasis away from the throngs of cruise ship and resort tourists. The locally owned inn is on a beautiful property right across from a beautiful beach where there are no fences and security guards keeping you out. Even though the hotel is dated the staff, owners, delicious homemade meals, access to the beach and lovely pool all make up for it. I am Celiac and I was able to eat here safely. We rented a car which makes it much easier to visit and access the west island. Congrats to the owners on making us feel so welcomed and keeping the authentic ambiance.

The owners and staff at Orange Hill were outstanding. They were friendly and helpful efficiently managing the front desk, bar and dining room. The food menu was diverse in its offerings for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meals were of excellent quality, servings were generous and well presented. The location of the Inn is on a hill across the street from a gorgeous beach. The outdoor area overlooking the beach is shady, has several seating areas and offers tables for outdoor dining.
The rooms are a different story. My room had a refrigerator that didn’t work, the kitchenette area was dirty and the room suffered from a general state of disrepair.
Aside from the room, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay!

We stayed at the Orange Hill Beach Resort from March 8 to 12. The first two nights, we stayed in a studio room in the hotel and the last three nights we stayed at the pink cottage. The main hotel is older than the cottage but has lots of character and charm with the pool in a central courtyard (reminiscent of many hotels of the 50s and 60s). The studio had a nice balcony too.

The pink cottage is on the same property and it was delightful and romantic. The windows have screens and you can hear the waves on the beach across the road. It is more expensive but a nice treat. The beach was quiet and beautiful.

If you want a casual place away from the hustle and bustle of Nassau but close enough to everything (including the airport), this small family run hotel is a wonderful choice. The staff were great as were the guests. My wife and I want to thank the two owners Chris and Brendan as well as all the staff (especially Charlene, Agatha and Rico who were at the front desk). The owners Chris and Brendan were very pleasant and willing to chat when they weren't busy - all the best to you and your families!

Charlene was especially helpful and she has worked there for many years. She gave me a good tip on where to pick up some sandals and shorts when my suitcase went missing on the first day. Thanks Charlene! Also, Deborah of Deborah Benneby Taxi deserves a shout out as she waited outside the men's store (Hoffer Sport) while I bought some beach wear (we'll remember that for the next time we need a taxi during our next visit).

The food in the dining room was excellent.

My wife and I will be back!

We stayed at Orange Hill just for one night at the end of our holiday. We picked it because it is reasonably priced and close to the airport (and our flight wasn't until 10pm on the day of departure so we needed somewhere to hang out post check out ). Orange Hill was perfect for our purposes and we would have been very happy to stay there longer, or come back with our kids one day. Hotel staff are super friendly, helpful, relaxed and charismatic, they were super accommodating with late check-out, storing our bags, giving us cash-back on our bill for taxi-fares, pool towels, honour bar system and so on. The place has been around for a long time, and they aptly welcome you to the Nassau Fawlty Towers- but this place is all charm and a great find, I can see why it's popular after 30 years. Room was simple (maybe slightly dated in terms of decor) but large and spotless with two double beds and balcony overlooking the pool. There's a sea view and gorgeous empty beach for a dip. Dinner was excellent, way better than we expected, we had lobster with king- prawns and Mahi Mahi with ample sides. Highly recommend, we had such an enjoyable stay and we hope to return.

My husband and I (plus a handful of other travelers) were put up there last year in June by Bahamas Air since we missed our connecting AA flight back to the US from Nassau after our vacation in Long Island. Bahamas Air was so terribly delayed getting into and out of Long Island that we had to pay for all new return connections incl. a 1 way flight with Bahamas Air to Miami the next day. The whole thing was a true ordeal and yes, after arguing with Bahamas Air they paid for the hotel room but it was such a miserable experience and the hotel was like a Motel 6. Old and cheap with windows that did not close properly etc. etc. We pretty much stayed dressed sleeping not to touch the linens and to be able to get up at 4am to catch our taxi to the airport for a 7am Bahamas Air flight. The little restaurant on site had decent food for dinner and you helped yourself to beer/water (by honor system running a tab) at an unsupervised bar which invites heavy drinkers as no one kept track of things. The waitress was nice but I would NEVER EVER stay there did I have a choice! It is a budget hotel and I would give it 1/2 a star if I could. So be aware and disregard the glowing reviews!!!

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. We always strive to make improvements in all areas of our operation and appreciate any and all feedback. We are an older, rustic property and do not advertise to be something else. As you will read in past and current reviews, on this site and others, this is far from a typical experience at Orange Hill. That being said, we understand we are not the right fit for all travelers and realize you would have been more comfortable in a higher end, chain style property. Thank you again for your time.

This is our second time coming to the Orange Hill Inn after many years and fond memories. It didn't disappoint a second time. If you are a relaxed person who takes it as it comes and likes things homestyle and low key, this is the place for you. You can hop on the bus at the bottom of the hill to ride into Downtown for 1.50. I thought the food at the Inn was great at the end of a long day, I didn't feel like going anywhere else. Bring on the rum punch and walk on the empty beach. No fighting for a spot at Orange Hill. This is not a resort, if you are a resort person who likes to be waited on hand and foot, you should move right along or you will irritate yourself and others. You will get friendly service, jokes, meeting new people, quiet mornings on the patio, a quiet beach and relaxation. During the week is the quietest time, weekends seem to pick up. Enjoy!

Having been vaccinated in February, we decided to go to the Bahamas the last week of April since we had never been there. Of course, it was extremely beautiful but the two resorts (one on Exuma and one in Nassau) that we stayed at were nearly empty and offered very limited services. While we enjoyed the natural bounty of the water and physical surroundings, we missed the liveliness that I'm sure is normally a part of the adventure. We needed a place to stay for the last night near the airport and I booked Orange Hill just because it was closest to the airport. We arrived with very low expectations but when we checked in, we realized that the resort was lovely with beautiful trees, flowers and plant everywhere, with a lovely Victorian house at the edge (lilac colored) and nice views of the ocean across the road. The patio was filled with people, sitting around (outside and socially distanced, of course) chatting, enjoying drinks from the honor bar, and being served delicious looking dinners from the incredibly reasonable restaurant. We had a lovely evening and the next morning went across to the beach and enjoyed the small shells and beach glass pieces that were everywhere. We did not go in but were assured by other guests that there was good snorkeling there. The next morning we had a lovely breakfast while watching three 6 week old kittens learning to climb the small tree in front and chatted with the owners (actually it is the next generation taking over) who are working hard to make the resort even better by refurbishing the rooms with new mattresses, etc. We couldn't believe our luck and enjoyed our one evening as a "cherry on top" experience to our Bahamas vacation. We so hope to come back to stay for longer because the "vibe" of the place is really special and welcoming

I stayed one night at Orange Hill trying to recover from a dreadful week l experienced on Grand Bahama Island. Orange Hill's beautiful location, exquisite fresh local meals, and outstanding staff were a gift and miracle to me.

The place is on a hill on private property with beautiful gardens and sounds of birds everywhere. Stunning views and public beach across the road that feels private it is so quiet. The main buildings are from the 1920s and have beautiful detail of hard wood, french doors, ceiling fans, and antiques in main area. All maintained and everywhere is meticulously clean.

There is a self serve honor system bar, and lively small bar room with service in the evening . Wonderful outdoor seating area and pool. There is an area of books to borrow and cards and games.

A bus stop right put front goes to town or taxis are available. 5 min from the airport.but quiet. Within walking distance to shops and other restaurants.

The staff are more like distant relatives happy to welcome you. Extremely helpful caring and kind.

The food is really so good, abundant, piping hot and fresh (e.g. pancakes/cracked conch, soup).

Did I say clean? Very! So well taken care of!!

Highly recommend.

This is a very nice place to stay. We saw the beach from the balcony and directly had the holiday feeling. And the stuff is really going the extra mile. We forgot something, and this the shipment “Bahamas-Germany” was too expensive form Bahamas, they took it to US to safe me some 150 $ shipment cost. This is really “customer fist” … even after our stay.

You can call a taxi but make sure you get the price set before you get in the taxi. We booked with Majestic Tours. They get your itinerary before you arrive. are waiting for you, then pick you up at right time on your departure. It cost us $35 but was worth it. Also, some (most) of the taxi drivers are horrible drivers.
