This hotel is not what I expected from a RIU Palace. I've stayed here 3 times in the past when it was a RIU and liked it well enough. (It's in a good location) When it was upgraded to a Palace, I expected it to be great...it is not.

The website says "international drinks with top brands". The vodka choices were smirnoff, stoli and Barton's, which are far from top brands. They didn't offer any really good brands at any bar. The juices and mixers were cheap brands as well, nothing much fresh , new, creative or innovative.

The buffet was just what you expect, plenty of choices so it was easy ti find something good to eat. The specialty restaurants were fair quality, but again, not great.

There were activities anounced by the pool several times a day, but they didn't always follow through with them. It's not hard and not costly to have games by the pool. Why not just have them? Maybe their entertainers should go to a nice all inclusive resort and see what the other's do.

However, the nightly entertainers/dancers were fantastic! We saw three shows and they were great!!!! (especially the Michal Jackson show) Keep up the good work!

The rooms were in good condition, were cleaned well each day and they brought whatever we requested...extra towels, conditioner, pillows ect.

The front desk staff seemed unconcered when we didn't like our view that was far from the ocean. They did offer a better room, but all three rooms in our group had to change the next day- so that meant packing, leaving your luggage at the front and returning later in the day to retrieve your stuff, and go unpack again.

The beach and water are beautiful! There were enough chairs each day, but they never had enough umbrellas at the pool or beach, so we all got sunburned at some point in the trip.

This is a nice all-inclusive adult resort. Kind of basic, but it did the trick for a January getaway into the warm weather. Staff were friendly and accommodating, especially buffet staff and the guys at the beach who brought chairs, tables and umbrellas.

Check-in/out - Easy, but beware "rush hour", when it gets busy.

Rooms - Somewhat dated, but we were on an upper floor with a great view and an outdoor terrace. Bathrooms were nicely done, in our room at least. Our towels were not replenished unless we chased someone down, but again, friendly when we did so. Some outlets need to be repaired.

Food - The buffet was excellent, with a wide variety of good foods. Great breakfast and dinner in main room. Lunch was offered outside by the pool or in one of the smaller rooms...again buffet. Outside lunch was limited but plenty inside. Snacks provided in the afternoon...more like a continuation of the buffet. Dinner buffet went late so you could grab a midnight snack there or in the bar, which also had sandwiches, popcorn, nachos, etc...24/7.

Restaurants - There are four "specialty" restaurants. Difficult to get a reservation and for the most part not worth it. The "Sir Alexander" was a solid "B", the steak place was an "A" and their "premier" restaurant, Kristal, was an epic fail. Raw sea bass, overcooked beef and (pet peeve), food was not served at the same time. Don't bother.

Drink - Great selection of cocktails. Beer good; wine not great but passable. Pool bars are great and staff is amazing. Indoor 24/7 sports bar is okay, mostly crowded, with a show every night. Pool bartenders will give you a show...singing and dancing.

Beach/Pool - Pool area nice. The beach is very nice, but if you want sun, you have to sit strategically. The only bugs on the beach were the vendors. Stay away from the sketchy tropical drinks, dancing turtle shells, cigars and other offerings. In their defense, they were friendly and not menacing...actually quite entertaining sometimes.

Things to do - Other than all of the above, nothing. No shopping, casino etc. Not near town, so your only option is a decent loop walk to the Atlantis for a little bit of overpriced shopping or gambling.

Before flying out to the RIU Palace we notified the hotel of our 28th Wedding anniversary.
Arriving at the RIU Palace Nassau we were told we had been upgraded to a sea view room and we were excited to see our room. Our room was simple but clean & tidy however as RIU Gold Members we were expecting something in our room on our arrival. There was nothing.
Unfortunately as the week progressed we had to repeatedly request towels that were missing, new room keys due to malfunction, and were disappointed in the quality of the room cleaning and overall hotel reception service.
Our Anniversary was overlooked and although we eventually received a fruit platter & keyring gifts as part of being a Gold members these items were returned as they were not practical or something we would use. We were hoping there would be replacement gifts & a proper recognition of our anniversary. Nothing was forthcoming.
On our last day we requested a late checkout considering how disappointed we had found our treatment during our stay. We had to negotiate this with the receptionist and eventually we were given an extra hour that we were grateful for.
Before our departure we managed to speak to the manager who said he had not been informed of the repeated complaints we had spoken to the reception about. He was unaware and as compensation we were given a RIU Baseball Cap. The acknowledgement of our treatment by the manager was appreciated.
The food & drink in the hotel was good and the waiting on staff were excellent.

Horrible customer service at the front desk. Most of them look very unhappy all the time and don't have the habit of smiling at all. Rude as well. I felt like they really didn’t want us there. The front desk staff lie all the time. We asked for a connecting room because we went with our two sons and had booked 2 rooms. We were told they can’t do it until we leave and I asked for the supervisor and she said they could do it for the next day. We checked out at 11 as the bus to transport us to the airport was supposed to come at 11. We booked it through the Riu website. The bus didn’t come until noon. After waiting outside on the seats (instead of enjoying our all Inclusive vacation for another hour) we were thirsty and I asked for water at the front desk. The associate told they don’t have bottled waters and I need to walk to a restaurant to get water. I told her I’m not going anywhere until she gets me water and sure enough they got me the water bottles. So much drama for water. This is after we paid thousands of $ 4 days all inclusive. They have no concept of customer service. The back is very narrow and 2/4 days they closed the beach due to rough seas. So everyone cramped at the pool. They don’t bring you food or drinks to the pool chairs. You have to stand in line at this one bar to get your drinks. They don’t have food there. The rooms are so old and had boring white color. Our bathroom actively broke and we had water dripping inside the bathroom and room. Food was good. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Horrible!

We just got back from Riu Palace Paradise Island on Saturday. This is not a fancy resort hotel but I would def go back in a minute. The trip may have been one of our best ever. The beach is absolutely beautiful! The staff were amazing from Terry and RL at the front desk and especially Pedro the General Manager. We were booked on 15 th floor but my husband refuses to use elevator ( claustrophobia) so they put us on floor 2 but not the greatest view even though we paid for oceanview superior suite. Since they were fully booked they managed to put him right by the stairs and made our stay the BEST ever. We loved the Bahamas steakhouse and Kilmanarium restaurants and the buffet was really good especially the fresh omelette made to order each morning. Grandy aka big daddy as my husband calls him made the steakhouse my favorite place to eat providing exceptional service and the best filet mignon/lobster tail ever. We thank him for making our trip so memorable. There is a wonderful jerk chicken place poolside. You must visit Atlantis. It was absolutely beautiful. The aquarium and the marina are must dos. Unfortunately we were not able to do the dolphin swim at dolphin cay but next time for sure! My husband and I have been traveling for 40 years and I have to say this was one of my favorite trips ever! No- not a fancy resort but one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and top notch friendly staff and great food and drinks. Can’t wait to go back!

This is the worst RIU Hotel we have ever stayed at, how on earth it is a 5 Star category Hotel beggars belief.

We booked a superior room with sea view, what they did'nt mention is that it was also overlooking their sewerage plant, with high speed fans running 24/7, the balcony hardly had any space for 2 people to sit comfortably on. The room smelt of damp, probably due to the leaking aircon. We complained & the room was changed, but had the same view of the noisy sewerage plant!

Food was low budget, obviously for the tasteless fast food US market, steaks were unedible as they were so tough, pasta (theres plenty of it) was always cold, repetitive food every night, a lot of which was recycled from the night before. The two choices of Red wine were bitter & the Rose was too sweet, absolutely low quality.

The main bar at night turns into an entertainment /disco area, the acoustics are awful & it was uncomfortable to be in there. Drinks are definetly very low quality, in fact awful brands we had never hear of, don't expect to find an after dinner liqueur here, they simply don't have any, no table service either.

The worst 2 weeks we have ever spent anywhere, avoid it like the plague. Absolutely disgraceful.

We stayed in February. We ended up upgrading our room to an ocean view suite because the original room looked at the hvac and smelled moldy. The front desk was more than helpful and even took her time to show us the available rooms and let us choose our new room! Our upgraded room was great! View was awesome!
The bartenders and staff are all very friendly and welcoming! They definitely go above and beyond to make sure everyone is happy.
This RIU is adults only which was nice.
They only have 1 bar outside and one bar inside. The restaurants do not have bar space. The buffet is your best bet honestly. The restaurants which you have to reserve on an app 2 days before were not great. Definitely skip the Japanese restaurant which should be changed to asian inspired! I asked for wasabi and they brought me red Tabasco sauce.
The breakfast buffet has every egg option possible! There is also a jerk chicken station available all day outside and the bar inside is stocked with American bar snacks..hot dogs,pizza.queso.
We had bad weather for half of our stay with crazy winds that had the beaches closed!
We had trouble finding something to do inside besides drink all day! We ordered room service which was a definite miss!

They do have titos and pour great drinks! They dont have many indoor options at this resort. Its just a hotel compared to other all inclusive resorts. Its definitely the more cost affordable option on paradise island but if you are looking for luxury accommodations and amazing food, this place is a miss.
10 stars for service 5 stars for atmosphere

My husband and I had a fantastic vacation. The food was delicious and the rooms were immaculate. I loved that the lifeguards would set up your lounge chairs and umbrella as you made your way onto the beach. You didn't have to worry about people reserving lounges and then never showing up to use them. My husband I love to have a drink in the lounge before retiring at night. There was only one lounge, and it was quite loud. It would have been great to have someplace quiet to wind down after the day. I also would have preferred not to have to make reservations for the restaurants. We ate at the buffet three nights out of seven. The food was very good at the buffet, but we prefer a sit down meal, and you had to remember to make your reservations three days in advance. I would recommend this resort wholeheartedly.

This is our third stay at the RIU and probably the last. The pool and beach were great although it is very loud at the pool… not easy to relax. We had an oceanfront Junior suite which was quite comfortable, but housekeeping only came by twice in our week stay. We had a plumbing issue in our bathroom which NEVER got addressed, so we fixed it ourselves and ordered room service which never came. The staff at the buffet is very friendly , but the food gets monotonous. Reservations are required at the specialty Restaurants, and despite many open tables, won’t seat you until your reservation time . When we checked out, they never even asked how our stay was or I would have given them this list of complaints. I guess some places don’t value repeat business!

Where to begin. Let's start at the cheese shall we. Upon exploration of this fine property you will eventually stumble upon a miracle of science and nutrition. The snack bar in the bar contains a liquid cheese machine! What's more - it doesn't matter what the temperature of the cheese is; it's just as delicious at room temperature as it is luke warm. Humidity can't bring down this queso! What's more more - the cheese machine is available 24/7! Our room had a spectacular view of the Caribbean sea, but all I could think about was the synthetic goodness located on Level 1. Our fine group of glamorous travelers all agreed. One in our group demanded a return stay. Where to end... of course the CHEESE.

Best,
Don Chilitoe

Post Script: the gentlemen selling cigars on the beach is a nice touch. 5 cigars a day! How could i possibly say no!?? I'm now addicted to tobacco.

I think because the staff doesn’t pass the vibe check. The hotel was beautiful and I enjoyed my stay but the staff attitudes need work. It wouldn’t prompt me to run and rate them either. lol
