We had a wonderful time at Baha Mar, and would definitely recommend it overall, although there are some things to be aware of.

PROS:
- A beautiful location
- The entire resort feels brand new, clean, modern, and impeccable.
- The service is top-notch.
- The SLS is part of a giant 3-hotel complex, which offers a never-ending set of things to do within that complex: a large free water theme park, beaches, great pools, a huge casino, tons of restaurants, tennis, mini-golf, water sports, bars, nightclubs, shopping - the list goes on and on. For the kids, there are also animal encounters, kids clubs, etc.
You'll never run out of things to do, and it's easy to have a great time, whatever you're interested in. One thing to note, though, is that the complex is busy and crowded, with lots of kids, so if you're looking for a relaxed, Zen-type experience, this isn't the spot for you - it's more of an upbeat, activities type of experience.

CONS:
- The complex is expensive. Some examples: $45 for 2 fruit cups and a banana. $40 dollars for a normal can of sunscreen. $35 for a chicken / rice / beans bowl (similar to the one you'd get at Chipotle). In general, expect to spend at least $50/per person for each lunch and at least $100/per person for each dinner. (These prices included tax and gratuity.) It's also challenging to get reservations on weekends, so make sure to book your tables in advance.
- The room design at the SLS is beautiful but BIZARRE. You enter your room through its bathroom - where the toilet is encased in a glass vestibule. Not frosted glass, mind you. Just a clear glass toilet room. So, there is a distinct lack of privacy when you're using the facilities. The shower is also clear glass and right there when you walk into the room as well. As I said, it's a bizarre choice. It could be remedied by replacing the current clear glass with frosted glass, or with normal walls / doors, but it's enough of an issue that - despite all of the Pros listed above - I likely wouldn't return to the SLS, and would instead try one of the other hotels in the complex.
- The one thing missing in the complex's activities options is live entertainment. There is a jazz club, but none of the types of theater or other live entertainment options that one would expect at a large casino complex (a la Las Vegas, etc.). So, the options for things to do in the evening are generally limited to gambling, dining and the nightclubs.

Overall, though, we had a great time, and would definitely return to the overall Baha Mar complex.

Delicious and the kids enjoyed it too! The bread was so good, appetizers were great. The meal was spectacular. Whole family loved it. Great service and atmosphere. Loved the music and ambience. Would recommed to family and friends when they come to Baha Mar.

We stayed for a family vacation. Overall, it was a very good experience and I would return.

The Pros: Beautiful property that is well maintained. The bed was very comfortable. We didn't have problems getting into restaurants. I couldn't make many reservations before we left (we decided to go book only a few days before we left.) But I was able to visit a few restaurants during the day and get dinner reservation for three different places for our stay. We had a kitchen unit and ordered groceries from Food Store 2 Go. They delivered to our hotel lobby and we were able to make breakfast on our own each day. The pools are all lovely, however the music at the SLS pool was too loud for us, so we hung out at the Drift pool at the Hyatt. We rented cabanas a few days and it was great to have a home base and a place to get out of the sun. We brought our own snorkel and masks for the beach. Not a ton to see, but there are man made reefs at the end of the swimming area in front of the Hyatt beach where some fish hang out. If you walk out on the pier past the swim area, you can see sea turtles. The few items we requested from housekeeping were delivered very quickly. The casino is large and the dealers were friendly. The water park was fun and we didn't have to wait in line long for anything. We arranged airport transportation through the hotel and that worked out great. It's only a 10-12 minute ride. The main gym that is shared with the other hotels is huge and very well equipped. They give you a bracelet to wear that is your room key and what you use to make purchases.

The Cons: The men selling jet skis, conch shells and day trips ruined the beach vibe for us. All day long they walk up and down the beach shouting their offerings. Our kitchen unit was advertised as fully equipped, and it was not. We were able to request a few items so we could cook breakfast and they were delivered quickly. My main gripe is the bathroom. Why the glass door on the toilet room? So strange and awkward.

Overall, it's a really nice resort that is very pretty and clean. The staff was responsive and friendly.

The service issues are endless and ruin the vacation. Horrible service. It’s not just the long line at the check-in desk (and the fact that the room wasn’t ready until 4:30 PM without any apology), but problems exist at every corner. They have no concept of customer service, and it’s disgraceful. We’ve stayed at enough resorts to confidently say this is the worst sequence of mishaps we’ve ever encountered, coupled with impatient and rude staff who never smile.

First of all, if you have children, beware that there’s loud music blasting until midnight from the rooftop club, shaking the walls and audible throughout the room, even with the windows closed.

Regarding service: the small problems add up. For example, at 4 PM there are no clean towels left by the pool, and the staff doesn’t seem to think this is a problem. They respond impatiently that “this is how it is.” Just one example. I also find it unreasonable that the pool closes at 5 PM, but fine.

We requested a crib for our room in advance, but there wasn’t one. We also requested a car seat for the airport transfer, but none was provided so we had to wait.

Speaking of airport transfers, when you book a luxury SUV through the hotel, you don’t expect to stand in a long line for a transfer at the airport and then wait another 15 minutes for the driver to show up.

They are completely inflexible. For instance, when it turned out that the crib was too small for our daughter, they charged extra for a mattress for a folding bed (even though we booked a large two-bedroom suite). They’re also the only hotel I’ve encountered that charges for milk for a baby!

When you call to request a towel or pillow for the room, they will repeatedly call back afterward to check if you received it, in addition to sending texts and emails. The problem is, they call at times when the phone will wake up the child. It shows they know that the service is an issue here but that's not solving the substantial problems.

No staff member smiles here—ever. It feels like they’re angry at you. They don’t even smile at the kids or babies.

I stay at other SLS hotels around the world (like Los Angeles), and I’ve stayed at other hotels here in the Bahamas. The level of service here is disappointing. If the woman managing the front desk doesn’t feel the need to apologize for delays in room availability or customer dissatisfaction, it’s no surprise that this attitude trickles down to the rest of the staff.

I would not recommend this place during high time. It is by all means NOT a luxury hotel. Impossible to get a chair at the pools. Every morning by 830 all chairs are taken. Babies and kids every where, only adult pool is open only on Friday and Sat. And that pool has a DJ blasting music all day. I was informed by concierge I could use the adult pools at the Grand Hyatt, but those pools were cabana only- Which you have to pay for and book in advance. Long lines for coffee every morning 20--30 people deep, and only a few places to get coffee. Luckily we had reservations nightly for dinner, but witnessed nightly, people being turned away. Yet by 830-845pm most restaurants we only half full. Most places were cleaning up by 9pm, which at that point service took a HUGE dive. Food is over priced and honestly not that good. Rooms are just mediocre, and very strange set up. The door to the toilet is clear!!! For the price it was not worth the stay

Very torn about our stay. Incredible, massive resort with everything one could need for nice family stay. Really nice pools, beach, some standout restaurants (Katsuya, Cafe Boulud were standouts), but ruined by grossly overpriced items everywhere and really inconsistent and crappy service in table stakes areas like room service and pool side. We stayed for 7 nights and on multiple nights didn’t have the room made up, or were missing items when it was. Room was more Instagrammable than functional - cheap fixtures and things falling apart and really strange set up like no bathroom door, etc. We paid way too much for a basic double queen room booked 6 months in advance and then dropped another $5k in food, beverage and silly crap like pretzels at the gift shop without really trying (nothing lavish, don’t drink much alcohol). I think at the end of the day if you are going to spend up for family beach vacation, you have a ton of options between the Caribbean and Florida and the money to value/service ratio isn’t really there.

If you would like a lawn bed around the pool you have to get up at 7:00 a.m. and tip the towel boys even though the pool does not open till 9:00 a.m. and closes at sunset all beds are saved by 8:30. God help you if you get injured here tried to locate a Band-Aid finally found one at the one and only convenience store on site and the woman charged us 50 cents a Band-Aid that was without 10% hotels fees and 15% gratitude that is added on every item including drinks and food and fresh air you breathe here.
Food here is average at best found 90% of the servers we're on friendly and seemed like it was a chore to serve you thinking it had a lot to do with the 15% gratitude that was on every bill.
There is zero entertainment here unless you like to gamble very loud and obnoxious music playing pretty much every day and it gets louder Thursday Friday and Saturday coming from the privileged pool.
We had a one bedroom suite with Kitchen in it very little pots and pans and was impossible to get a sharp knife so if you plan on cooking bring pretty much everything.

I was really excited about travelling to the Bahamas for our anniversary trip. We’re keen travellers and have been to various Caribbean islands over the years but this was our first time to the Bahamas. Check in was quick and easy but once we went to our room I quickly complained about the lack of cleanliness of the room. We were offered an upgraded room after the housekeeping manager came to inspect and agreed that the standards were not up to standard.
The upgraded room was nice abs the view, breathtaking.
The hotel grounds are well maintained and there are more than enough staff members on site at all times, all of who were extremely friendly. The restaurant choices are fantastic and as you have access to all 3 hotels there is plenty to do for everyone.
There are plenty of sunloungers however I feel they are poor quality and could do with being replaced. However, the beach is absolutely beautiful.

It was easy to get the bus into downtown or to the fish fry for $1.5 as a taxi would charge per person so would be at least $20.

My only real complaints or gripes here is the fact that the hotel charges you $96 per night for a resort fee. This merely gives you access to all hotels which you’d have anyway as they are connected by the casino, and unlimited access to the water park. This fee is extortionate by anyone’s standards and as we stayed for 7 nights this was almost $1,000 for us. We didn’t use the water park and just couldn’t see the value at all. I’d prefer to have this fee included in the booking if the trip so it’s paid for upfront.

My second complaint is that the hotel has a large number of pool cabanas which you have to pay extra for. Most of them remained empty all day. If you pay a significant amount of money to stay in one of these hotels then have to pay $96 per night you would expect to at least be able to sit in a cabana with more comfortable sunloungers.

Overall I had a pleasant stay at the SLS and in the Bahamas. I would return for sure but I’d want an all inclusive resort next time as the price of food and drinks here is a little over the top and not value. For example they charge $14 for a bottle of Evian water. I’m from London so I’m used to things being expensive and restaurants that charge more than necessary for bottled water but $14 just takes the piss. The also charge $120 for a steak (side dishes extra).

The pizzas at Pizza Lab are divine

Hello travelers!
Usually we stay in all inclusives Sandals or Secrets resorts.
This time we decide to have experience with something new.
We stay 5 nights thanksgiving in SLS Baha Mar Bahamas - absolutely we would not recommend to anyone, unless you don't know what to do with your money.
To begin the price for hotel is expensive, everyday you will get $66 charge daily on your credit card for resort fee.
Don't touch anything in your room from the bar unless you willing to pay premium - triple price that it cost.
Everything that you want to eat and drink prepare to pay a lot. Hard to make reservation to restorant, make it way in advance for dinner.
People smoke cigarettes everywhere no designated areas. Prepare for closed pools because there is many kids pooping. Cheers on the beach looks very old and damaged.
Plusses - hotel and rooms is very clean modern and smell nice. French restaurant was the best, expensive but worth it.
Overall if you put all this together it's not worth it. For less money you can get worry free vacation in top shelf resorts.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 days. We loved it.
The BahaMar property is made up of three hotels -
SLS
Grand Hyatt
Rosewood

They are all attached and share a very clean and bright casino and shopping area.
SLS guests can access amenities at the SLS and Grand Hyatt. There are some exceptions at the Rosewood. It is more exclusive and not as accessible. Though there are three properties, it all felt walkable and not overwhelming. Relaxing.

Overall, the grounds are well maintained, beautiful, and clean. Nice as I’ve ever seen and we travel a lot. Staffed by folks who do a nice job.

The SLS interior is decorated nicely and current. The lobby is very swanky. Rooms vary. We splurged and stayed in a beautiful suite on the SLS 15th floor. It was amazing. I heard from guests in standard rooms that they are nice but it can feel a little squeezed.

For families there is a lot to do. Many different pools - adult, family, water park, you name it. All beautiful. Plus the beach. Some shopping.

The ocean here is crystal clear and the beach clean with lots to eat and drink close by at the beach.

Food everywhere on the island is pricey and as to be expected at a tropical resort. We rarely had a lunch or dinner under $80 without drinks as there is a tax on everything in addition to the listed price.

If you are a family with children, stay at the Grand Hyatt. The SLS seems geared toward adults. The Rosewood is more stuffy but very nice. The SLS sort of has a posh Vegas vibe.
Would love to stay here again and bring my teenagers.
Highly recommend.

The Bungalow Pool is at the SLS and I didn't see anyone going around to check wristbands I did see them not give any towels out to people without a pink wristband. As far as the Privilege Pool at SLS it is adults only and I think you have to rent a cabana or lounge chair but not sure. When we were there it was suppose to be closed, just open on weekends, but we did see some people in there.

There are definitely resort fees but it included room cleaning and use of the facilities. It is per room per day for the resort fees. Try finding a site that includes the resort fees if possible. I am unsure about the 10-day break room cleaning fees, but if you call the hotel they will be very helpful!

There are really no stores close by other than what is contained within the resort. There’s very little practical items found inside the resort Baha Mar.
