The Ocean Club, a Four Seasons Resort in the Bahamas, garners consistent applause for its cleanliness and well-kept beach, providing an immaculate setting for guests. While the rooms offer comfort and impressive views, some visitors suggest they could benefit from updates. Although the service is generally highlighted as friendly and attentive, there are occasional reports of service delays. Despite the praise for the hotel's luxurious amenities and vibrant dining experiences, opinions on value for money are divided, with some guests questioning if the high-end pricing is justified.

Returned for the first time since management switched over to four seasons and we were very impressed.  Upon arrival one of the housekeepers was very attentive helping us with whatever we needed as we settled into the room with our family.  I mentioned the mattress on our bed was very lumpy and they switched it out right away which resolved the issue.  The director of food and beverage, Tarek, was always around the restaurants and very attentive to guest needs and managed to remember guests by name very quickly.  The process of obtaining wrist bands for Atlantis water park was more difficult than I remember this time, I would suggest ocean club guests receive clear written instructions (pamphlet with map maybe?) of where you need to go for wrist bands as the Atlantis is a sprawling and confusing place.  Look forward to returning in the future!

We arrived at noon and was offered a welcome drink. After finishing our drink, we were told our room wasn’t ready and we should go into the bathroom to change into our bathing suits to wait at the pool. We changed in a very crowded bathroom and went down to the pool, swam and had lunch. At 5:00 our room still wasn’t ready, and we were offered a ride to the nearby Atlantis. Not knowing what else to do we accepted their offer. We didn’t realize the Atlantis is a Las Vegas experience complete with a casino and a Barbie themed aquarium. Wasn’t really what we were looking to do in the Bahamas. At 6:00 our room was ready. Not a fabulous way to start our trip.

The beach is beautiful. Property and grounds are stunning. The staff is very welcoming. The spa is outstanding – highly recommend salt scrub and 90-minute massage. Life changing. The chat feature to request things from the staff is great, when it’s working. It was out when there was a major downpour and we, and I assume others, were stranded at a restaurant off the campus. Could have been weather related internet issues? Not sure.

In terms of the 3 pools, the beachfront infinity pool looks fabulous. Unfortunately, we never used it as it is small and always had children playing in it. We only used the adult pool which was very nice and swam every day.

We were looking forward to swimming with the pigs, snorkeling and dinner on the beach, but the weather didn’t allow for those activities. We were hoping the hotel would offer something else fabulous for us to do. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen.

Only coffee and muffins are included for breakfast. Not sure why they can’t offer hard boiled eggs or fruit?

We also noticed that we were the only guests asked to show our room key when we wandered the property. Perhaps they simple aren’t used to two women traveling together?

Overall, it’s a lovely stay with things they can improve upon. For the price of this resort and it being a Four Seasons, we had hope for some level of extra surprise. Instead, the surprises were on the downside.

We had a delightful stay at this excellent hotel. The staff and service are exceptional. The staff was so friendly, welcoming and eager to do whatever they could to make our stay enjoyable- from Marcus our Butler, to Brishard from Room Service, to the groundskeepers, beach and pool staff... they made us feel like this was our second home.
Food was delicious, and we especially enjoyed the conch salad and fritters. I am quite picky about these as I grew up in the Bahamas, and they were so fresh and well made. The beach is clean, safe and uncrowded. The water was clear and refreshing. The pool was wonderfully warm even in November. This is a quiet, relaxing hotel and perfect for rejuvenation. The toiletries were very luxurious, the beds super comfortable, the rooms with lovely views. Of special note is the large pool overlooking their Versailles gardens. Wow, what a place for a special event! Also note that if you want to go to the water park at Atlantis, it is complimentary with your stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating our anniversary here and cannot wait to go back!

This was my first trip to The Ocean Club, a property I have wanted to try for a number of years. First, let me context my comments: I have been visiting Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts for 25+ years and am very familiar with the high and quite consistent service levels and quality of the properties. The Ocean Club, in a number of areas, doesn’t quite measure up to the normal Four Seasons level of property or service. Here are a few examples:

• Never once in four mornings did anyone at Dune Restaurant ever voluntarily offer to refill my coffee cup at breakfast. With only 4 or 5 tables occupied, it would take 5 minutes to find someone who would refill a coffee cup. I would have received much better service at Denny’s or IHOP.
• The main restaurant, Dune, is advertised as a Jean-George Vongerichten restaurant and he is listed as the owner of the restaurant on the menus. Frankly I expected some level of elevated dining. That is not the case. The food is competently executed but it is plain and uninteresting. Additionally, the kitchen has a hard time properly timing meals. Both dinners we ate there involved overly long waits between first and second courses. I’m not sure The Four Seasons did itself any favors outsourcing the main restaurant on property. Because of the proximity of the resort to Atlantis, it seems that they have given up competing with the restaurants at Atlantis.
• The property is beautifully landscaped and while there I saw people trimming shrubs etc., what I did not see was anyone cutting the grass, which was 4 or 5 inches tall in some areas.
• At the main pool, they were out of SPF 50 sunscreen when we arrived and, in spite of the staff knowing they were out, it was never refilled during our visit. A case of no one taking responsibility for an issue.
• And then on our last day, there was no hot water. At 8:30 in the morning they had no idea that the hot water for an entire wing of the hotel was out. Luckily there were able to fix the system quickly and about an hour later we had hot water but it was an additional sign that the property is not being kept to Four Seasons standards.

We had a great experience on our honeymoon. This was our first trip to the bahamas and first to this resort. Our drivers were excellent. The concierge was constantly attentive to the text function, and would reserve us dinner plans/excursions/etc right away. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. So many OC staff remembered us throughout the trip, and remembered our drink orders, which was a personable touch. The food, hospitality, and location were excellent. The beach was beautiful. We really appreciated the adult only pool (Versailles pool), as it was always quiet. The colonial, old world architecture of this resort was so beautiful. Our room was addressed twice a day, which was great. The spa was a very positive experience and the resort felt very safe.

The only thing I would mention is in regards to two complaints I’ve seen in other reviews: the resort being “outdated” and slow service. Nothing about the rooms (we stayed in the Luxury Oceanfront Room on the first floor) or the resort itself was outdated. If you are looking for modernist style with all glass and steel, this isn’t that resort. The staff across the entire resort were incredibly attentive, hospitable, and friendly. Expect excellent service but on island time. If you are choosing to go abroad to a different country, appreciate their values and culture. Italy for example is notoriously a slower experience in terms of service, dining, transport, etc. than you might have in the United States. We have found no issues with our stay, and can acknowledge that not everything needs to be Americanized (i.e., “I need it right this second”) to be five star. If you are looking to relax and be taken care of in a quiet, boutique style resort, this is the perfect place to be.

We had a great stay and look forward to returning with family.

I stayed with a group of top executives form my company and booked a dinner reservation the the Dune on the evening of October 4Th for a serious and important business discussion. The live music was so loud and our table so close to it that is was impossibe to have a conversation. Whend asked to move our gorup to an empty section of the restaurant much further away from the live music the answer of the manager and Hotess was repeatedly 'sorry this is not possible' even though it would have been as simple as moving a couple of empty tables to that arear. The ttitude of the Manager and Hostess of the Resaturant seemed to be "if you do not like the table we have given you, tough luck, we will do nothing to accomodate your preference"

We are expecting a nice 5 star hotel with great service. Our family had two suites and also two rooms. So were spending a great deal of money.
The property is very dated. The furniture, rooms and bathrooms were all not well maintained. I fact they replaced a ceiling fan in a room in a room. Also one slide door did not lock therefore the room was not safe. They were not able to fix and no other rooms available. The service was just terrible. Although the staff was nice they service just took hours - whether in room, restaurant, pool or at the beach. This was a deff not a 5 star property or experience.

My wife & I spent 4 nights at The Ocean Club. Since the rooms had just been refurbished in Feb 2023 , we felt it would be a good time to stay at the property. We noticed after the seamless checkin that the resort was clean & well maintained. Since our children are older and we travel as a couple most of the time , we were happy to use the beautiful adult pool near the Versailles Gardens. We were happy with our spa treatments and the delicious fresh food at Dune & The Ocean Restaurant. The beach is great with white sand , clear blue water & a great wait staff to keep the food & drinks flowing. We did get some rain but it didnt alter our plans. Since it rains in the late afternoon we would we back at our room to take a break and by the time we took a shower , the sun would be out again. If you're looking for an up scale 3-6 day trip , we would highly recommend The Ocean Club. And dont forget to watch James Bond , Casino Royale before you arrive ! Enjoy your Vesper Martini!

Over 2 hours for dinner, 45-min wait for breakfast with absent service, room service & lifeguard negligence, and a checkout fiasco. A stark contrast to expected luxury, complete with unjust mandatory gratuity. Avoid at all costs.

Lunch time at the Dunes. The restaurant is lovely, white with the ocean backdrop. Unfortunately they were out of shrimp and lobster. So… I ordered a burger (Sip Sip at Atlantis was excellent) it was ok, my husband had a fish sandwich. There was a table of about 22 people and a couple more tables. We had bread served to us, then nothing, no one came, then finally they brought water which was warm, so they brought a cup of ice with it. We had to move to another table because the large group were drinking and getting really roudy. 45 minutes later our food came. The waiters never came back to ask if we needed more water or how was the food.
I talked with the manager and said, I didn’t expect this type of service at a 5 Diamond Resort and what could she do could do for us? When a guest has to ask, that’s another mark on their resort. They adjusted our bill took off my hamburger and the water.
Since it started to rain we went to the front foyer lanai and sat there a bit, then I went inside and sat a little longer when an employee asked if I needed to check in. No, just waiting to leave soon.
If you come for lunch and it takes 45 minutes to get your lunch, don’t stay, they want you out of there. This is not a good review!
