Had a relaxing week of yoga, meditation and relaxing at the beach here. The vegetarian meals were delicious and physically my body actually felt cleansed after eating this way for a week. During the week that I stayed, there was also Passover celebrations and the Easter Monday church/choir service which were done in earnest and which I appreciated getting a chance to be a part of. Tailor your schedule based on what interests you, theres a full program of satsangs, workshops and yoga.

Like the other reviewer has mentioned, make sure to bring antigen test kits as testing is required every two days or else you'd have to pay $14 USD per test.

Also shout out to Swarmi Shambhu who does the intermediate morning Yoga classes. I became more flexible after doing his classes through his encouragement to take on some of the yoga poses and he has a soothing voice so I left each class feeling relaxed.

My daughter and I were fortunate enough to spend two weeks at this amazing retreat center which offers the best quality professional yoga classes on a beach platform as well as guided meditation sessions including Kirtan singing and inspirational readings twice daily. There is also the opportunity to attend afternoon workshops on meditation and wellbeing. The accommodation is exceptionally clean and hygienic in the most beautiful location directly situated on a beautiful secluded beach. The food is hearty, healthy and delicious vegetarian Ayurvedic and couldn’t have been better. The staff is extremely friendly, hospitable and helpful. All of which made our stay unforgettable with great hope to return again! Thank you so much for this amazing experience! Susan Lemke

As far as I am concerned, there is no other place to spend a week or to take a Yoga training class. Everything about my time spent here is wonderful! I have attended the Teacher Training 200 Hour Program and am preparing to return for the Advanced Teacher Training which will give me a total of 500 Hours of Training. I would not consider any other place for training or for that matter a Yoga Vacation. The setting is gorgeous, the food is nourishing and vegetarian, the Karma Yogis are helpful and friendly but most of all the Swamis and other staff are sensational.

I had purchased 1/2 day passes for four days at the Sivananda Bahamas Ashram while visiting The Cove at the Atlantis next door with my family. It was a 10 minute walk along the most gorgeous stretch of beach (to the left if facing the ocean) I have ever seen.

Each pass was $30 and included a 1 hour and 45 minute yoga class facing the ocean, and a vegetarian meal served right after the class. I chose to do the morning session so I could be back to my family by 10:15. The yoga classes were exceptional, starting with breathwork, then moving to postures broken up by savasanas. Skill levels were from beginner to advanced.

I chatted with several guests at the Ashram and most had visited several times- for weeks at a time and seemed to really enjoy it. The resort is PURE and peaceful, and mostly run by “Karmic Yogis” who volunteer their time working to maintain the grounds, cook in the kitchen, and work at the reception desk.

Rating it 4 stars instead of 5 because as a newbie some things were unclear and I got a couple of light slaps on the wrist. For example the reception desk opens at 8am, which is when the first class starts. The food served was fresh and tasty, but a little repetitive. Overall I truly enjoyed the experience ans will definitely be visiting again as a day guest.

As always the Sivananda Ashram brings a very welcome reprieve from the bitter New York and Toronto winters where we spend many of our days during the year.
The yoga and meditation is thoroughly enjoyed by all of our family and the nourishing meals are just the requirement to provide the requisite needs y to o help cleanse your body and spirit.
We love it here and make it a yearly destination and the friends that we make there each year last throughout the years to come.
Great staff and great programs. And the best beach on Paradise Island!!

The Sivananda Ashram in the Bahamas is truly my favorite place to visit. I leave the Ashram every time feeling deeply nourished, inspired, and transformed. There is nothing like it. From the satsungs in the mornings and evenings, to the yoga classes and the food, the healing powers in each of these are evident. The atmosphere of the Ashram is so pure, and the Swami’s are so genuine … it’s been such a blessing to be able to immerse myself in such a place.

Was there for 4 nights as a vacation guest at the end of low season, so it wasn't crowded. Met wonderful travelers. The beachfront room was spectacular, it was stocked with a kettle, beach towels, dishes, shower soap, drinking water, bug spray. Staff was warm and friendly. The grounds were clean. Food was creative and good. There was plenty of free time between the scheduled sessions to explore or rest. Prior to coming I read all prior reviews and seriously, all the complaints in the lower-numbered reviews simply did not happen. I think it's important to know what you're getting into before you come, so your expectations are realistic: This is a real Ashram, not a sports-yoga place. Humility, not competition. Yoga is meditative, not rushed. The staff are committed to the practice which includes chanting seed syllables. It's their religion. I think the bad reviews came from guests who didn't do their research and were unprepared for this aspect (and were judgmental and close-minded). I loved my time there.

I stayed there for 4 days with my 8 year old daughter.
First of all, it is not a sterile 5 star resort with New York style waiters zooming around to serve you, nor there is a cold wet towel offered after 45 minutes of working out in a fancy gym. It is an actual ashram with cabins in the middle of the jungle, very close to nature, like the one you could find in India, but westernized with clean water, clean bathrooms, WiFi, etc. So it is important to come with the right expectations and then you will be pleasantly surprised.

The vegan food is delicious, with multiple options, does not repeat, all teachers (Swami), staff and volunteers are very friendly and helpful. What I love most in this retreat is a balanced combination of mindfulness meditation, yoga wisdom teachings, breathing exercises, yoga poses, relaxation techniques and some various additional classes.
There is a gorgeous beach with nobody around. For snorkeling the best place I found is to swim along red buoys by Atlantis - there are several underwater features with corals and fishes. If you want a little cherry on top for kids you can get a day pass to Atlantis which is in a walking distance along the beach.

Following through the entire program of the day I felt like becoming a slightly better person each day, getting slightly stronger, healthier and along the way losing 1 pound of weight per day. It was not easy for my daughter but absolutely nothing super-hard and it is a great experience for her and I believe she is slightly better equipped to live her life happily.

Orelrevivo, So many of our Teacher Training graduates stay on with us at the ashram as karma yoga like you did. It is such a wonderful reflection of the yogic principles that people want to stay on in service. We are so grateful you were able to receive these powerful yogic teachings in such a transformational way. Make sure you carry them home with you, and come back to us soon.

Hi, I have been to this ashram many times. Some of the dorm like rooms in the garden area have a washroom building with shower stalls and toilets. These are also shared with the tents. All clean and not far from your rooms. The main building has separate rooms with single bathrooms and showers down the hall. The beach huts also share the bathrooms from the main building short walk away. The newer beach suites are 2 level condo structures with private toilets and shower/bath.

I have been to this ashram many times over the past 20+ years and you can snorkel off the beach. There is a nice cove just east of the ashram and I see people snorkeling there often.
