The Royal at Atlantis garners praise for its pristine beaches and well-maintained pools, situated in a prime location that’s perfect for families and exploring nearby attractions. While the hotel's atmosphere strikes a balance between sophistication and energy, some guests have called out the need for modernizing its elegance and reducing noise disruptions.
Although the array of pools and water activities are popular, concerns over outdated amenities, high expenses, and overcrowding are noted. Moreover, dissatisfaction with the service and perceived value is common, as travelers criticize the staff's attitude and question the steep prices relative to their experiences, particularly in the rooms that many suggest are due for an update.

Me and my husband came here for our honeymoon for a 1 week stay and we loved it. We stayed in The Royal with a sea view room and it was great, I would highly recommend staying in The Royal.
Our room was very big with a lovely spacious bathroom and a big balcony, all very clean and tidy.
The pools and beach’s were clean and plenty of sunbeds - made a change as there were no sun beds ‘reserved’.
There were a wide range of restaurants on sight something to suit everyone, quite expensive but good quality.
On site is a gift shop and a small shop which sells sweets, crisps, drinks, sun creams and medications etc.
The hotel is a cashless hotel so will only accept credit cards or get it charged to your hotel room. They add 15% gratitude on to everything and VAT.
The staff are all friendly and helpful and we had a chat with some of the lifeguards which were very nice and told us abit about the hotel and marine life at the hotel.
The water park is great fun a wide selection of slides for all ages. You need a wrist band to go on the water slides which you can get by the swimming pool. You can hire lockers (but are expensive) it’s $20 for a small locker.
You can get fresh pool towels around the pool areas.
When we checked in we got 2 reusable water bottle to keep and all around the hotel there are water taps to fill your bottle up, which is great for the enviroment.
There is a free shuttle bus which takes you in between the other hotels (reef, coral).
Just watch out when you get taxis to the hotel as there is a toll charge of $2 some taxis pay it or some taxis ask you for it in cash.
Overall this is a fantastic hotel and would defiantly recommend and would come back.

Amazing staff, but the room left much to be desired. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and attended to. Every interaction—from the front desk to the housekeeping team—was friendly, professional, and truly exceptional. Unfortunately, the room itself was a letdown.
I was told at the time of booking that we would be staying in a renovated Presidential Suite. However, upon check-in, I was given the same suite I stayed in over a decade ago. The decor felt outdated, the furnishings showed noticeable wear and tear, and the overall ambiance didn’t match the premium experience I was expecting, especially at this price point. While the suite was spacious and clean, it was clear it hadn’t been refreshed in years, which was disappointing considering the promise of a renovated space.
Despite this, the rest of the resort continues to impress. The amenities, dining options, and overall atmosphere remain top-notch, and it’s clear that Atlantis invests heavily in creating memorable guest experiences outside of the rooms. I just wish the same effort was reflected in the accommodations. For the cost and the prestige of staying in a Presidential Suite, I expected more.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
I can broadly agree with the previous reviews. Check-in was unprofessional - room cards in the entire property did not work, therefore only check-in after a delay of 2 hours - but we were actually allowed to move around the resort already 😉.what a concession! Room in the West Tower (12. Floor) with great views and very clean and mint condition! Lift and corridors in old condition. Garden perfectly maintained. Of course, the water park is the main attraction of the resort, which is why great importance is attached to cleanliness and maintenance. The power tower is spectacular, the slide into the shark tank a highlight. Let's get to prices - what else can we say without repeating ourselves forever - astronomically, if you have to calculate in €. Breakfast we saved, instead there was also a Stabucks in the resort...Dinner at the resort in the Taverna was ok (buffet restaurant) for 65 dollars plus tax and gratuity). At the casino, the roulette tables have a minimum bet of $15 ~ so we left that! Very many children in the resort and corresponding noise levels throughout the complex including the evening restaurants. Overall, it considers it worth a visit for 2-3 days, but that should be enough.

Our trip to Atlantis was very nice. We had a room issue upon arrival which took a few hours to resolve but after that we were fine. The room was very clean as was the resort in general. There was plenty of security around the resort making us feel safe and room keys or wristbands were required to access certain areas of the hotel. Many places are cash free and room card or credit card are required forms of payment. The pools and respective areas were very clean. Lifeguards were diligent, especially in the Poseidon's playground. The beach and Lagoon areas were nice and clean but no chairs at the lagoon. Food was very good and fresh with generous portions but know that all food and beverages have 25% added to the total. 15% is gratuity and 10% is VAT, even on a cup of coffee to go.. The hotel is about 30 minutes from the airport and the road is quite winding due to the many roundabouts. There is a lot to do at Aquaventure should you wish to participate but the lines were long and as much as 30 - 45 minutes sometimes to access the more popular attractions but that's to be expected during the summer. Pillows are thick and soft. Coffee maker is kuring type with Lavaa pods but very little creamer. Shampoo, conditioner, lotion & body wash were plentiful in large pump bottles. Free metal water bottles were given upon check in and filling stations are on every floor and around the resort. All in all this is a great hotel with many recreation options.

People complain about the prices, but it is the Bahamas, so you expect it to be expensive. The resort is vast but a phenomenon with many activities, so technically, you don't even have to go for anything outside the paradise island.
The only complaint I have is that most of the restaurants were closed by 10-11 PM. Our flight got delayed, and we didn't get anything to eat around 11:30 PM, so we had to sleep on an empty stomach.
Also, we are Marriott Titanium, but Atlantis doesn't provide any benefits from Marriott, so breakfast was not complimentary.
River Rapids, the slides, the beach behind the resort- everything was great and different from resorts we have visited in the past, in the Caribbean or Mexico. Pool chairs were readily available despite being crowded and peak week in Feb.
Kids enjoyed looking at sea animals or turtles whenever we crossed the aquarium or the turtle sanctuary.
The casino had a slightly higher limit for my taste (minimum $25 or sometimes $50), even during the daytime or on a weeknight, so I skipped and saw many empty tables. We also stayed at Grand Hyatt Baha Mar after Atlantis. The tables were full there as that was a more Las Vegas-vibe resort, and the limit was lower than it was at Atlantis.
Marina Village is a must-see place. Unfortunately, we heard about it on our third day, so we missed the first two days. There are many restaurants, such as a Steakhouse and Pizzaria, other sit-down restaurants, and also a Starbucks. There was also the Junkanoo dance at 8 PM on Tuesday (I think), which was great. At all the restaurants, Starbucks, etc., you can charge the expenses to your room, which is very convenient. If you walk out of Marina Village and cross the road, you will find a strip plaza with more restaurants, which are a little more reasonable than the Marina Village restaurants. There was also Margaritaville restaurant outside; please please please avoid that restaurant.....horrible food and beyond atrocious service.
If I go again to the Bahamas, I will definitely stay at Atlantis. If my wife and I go alone, we will probably end up staying at Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, as it is less kid-friendly, more adult, and has better nightlife.

What an experience! I booked the Atlantis (Royal Hotel) on a free trip earned through credit card points hacking. After this trip, I enjoyed myself so much that I would pay for it with cash!
Rooms: We had an oceanview dual queen room on the 17th floor with an incredible view of the ocean and the resort grounds. The beds were comfy, room was large, with a desk and dresser, end-of-bed bench, nightstands, a large closet with a safe, and a good size washroom with a separate toilet area, which was great with 2 couples sharing our room. We had a small decorative balcony, but it allowed us to leave the door open, listen to the ocean and dry our swimsuits.
Food: This was the only critique I have about our experience... the food was okay, but not as good as I was expecting. It was expecting, but large portions. We all agreed that we didn't have any bad food experiences at the resort, but we also agreed that the best food we had was off-resort and driving home after we flew back to Canada.
Resort: There is so much to do for anyone based off their interests. We enjoyed walking around the resort grounds and people watching, but we spent lots of time at the waterpark, trying the variety of eating options, fitness centre, swimming pools, beaches, the movie theatre, shopping, looking at the yachts, and lots of other stuff!
Aquaventure Waterpark: Way more fun than I ever thought it would be honestly. There is a good variety for people who want to chill in a hammock or beach chair, take a trip or two or three or more in the "lazy" river, ride some awesome waterslides, or walk around to see the attractions and wildlife. You'll probably think. you've covered it all, but there's most likely more to explore!
Nassau: We felt safe walking around the resort at all times of day, travelling to/from the airport, and during our day in downtown Nassau. We had a visit to the port + downtown area for some shopping and to eat lunch with some friends in on a cruise, so I would encourage adding a trip off-resort (not on an excursion) to experience this!
We will be back!

This place is beautiful, there's no doubt about that, but that's the only good thing I can say about my first and last stay at this resort. My husband and I thought this would've been a nice 16th birthday gift for our daughter since she didn't want a birthday party, so we booked our stay for Oct 30- Nov 04. We decided to buy the food and beverage card because we thought we would get a little more bang for our buck, big mistake! Stay away! From the card, tax and gratuity is not covered with this card and it will be charged to the debit card you put on file at the time of arrival. Every time you use the food and beverage card, the tax and gratuity will be charged to the card you put on file. Trust me save yourself the hassle if you decide to stay at this resort just use your debit or credit card because you're really not saving anything and you will be doing math before and after each meal, in the long run you'll lose out at the end, unused credits are nonrefundable and their will be a lot remaining since the tax and gratuity is charged to your debit or credit card. As for the restaurants, the schedule changes everyday, which makes it difficult to find a place to eat. We were sent several times to restaurants that were closed, running around with tired, hungry, frustrated kids. We had no choice but to dine in a more expensive restaurant that wasn't in our budget. Family friendly this place is not At check-in you'll get a nice reusable water bottle, Please don't have your kids drink that nasty water, they say it's filtered, it's not. Spend the 4$ for the can of water or making your way to a local grocery store to get some, I couldn't even brush my teeth with the tap water, it smelled and tasted horrible, your mini refrigerator comes with nothing, keep that in mind. Be aware of the Poseidon table buffet at the Royal. After dining there for breakfast on my daughter's birthday we all got very sick, for the rest of our stay. Staff really tried their best to be helpful even though they weren't 100% knowledgeable, they were very apologetic for the horrible ble system this hotel had in place. Even though I spent 10% of my vacation at the front desk, 20% looking for a place to dine and another 30% doing math, I'm grateful for the staff that took the time to help us out. Thank you! With that said this was the first time ever my family and I got sick on our getaway. The four of us all agree this was the worst vacation ever and have no desire to return to this resort, but will go back to the Bahamas because the people and the island are simply beautiful.

I have mixed feelings about our recent experience at the hotel. On the positive side, the place is beautiful, and most of the people were very nice and polite. The service at the restaurants was great, and we were happy with the way we were treated. However, there were some issues that need to be addressed.
WATER:
First, when we checked in, we were not provided with the complimentary water bottles as promised. We were told they were out of stock and would arrive the next day, but this did not happen. Instead, we were given 6 small cans of water, which did not last long. We noticed that other guests were carrying cases of water to their rooms, and we learned that there was a grocery store outside the hotel where water could be purchased at a reasonable price. This was very disappointing and unprofessional, and we had to stop going to the front desk for water. This is very unprofessional. The hotel had to apologize for the inconvenience and provide/deliver water to rooms. BahaMar does not have this issue. The 1L bottled water was always in the room ( we were there last year)
ROOMS:
We stayed at the west tower. We had 2 rooms with a family of 4 people. There were some issues in both rooms. In one room it was always freezing. The thermostat did not work at all. Sometimes we had to keep the AC off to warm the room up. In the 2nd room, we had to always fight with the thermostat to get the right temp. It worked intermittently. For a few days in both rooms there was black water in the toilets and the water would not stop running. Although the maintenance staff responded quickly and fixed the issues, there were still some lingering problems.
Overall, while we appreciated the beauty of the place and the friendly service, the issues with water and room amenities were disappointing and needed improvement.

Really bad food. Quick service food is gas station quality. There are a few decent restaurants, but good luck getting a reservation. Wait times for Aquaventure are insane and at least 2 slides were shut down every day of our 5 day trip. Getting pool towels and seating was a daily nightmare. The are playing it fast and loose with the term "ocean view". We mostly had a view of a dirty lower roof top for the cost of an ocean view. The room itself could have easily been a Holiday Inn. Shocking for the cost. Our room was not cleaned properly - amenities not replenished (or filled before our arrival), trash not taken out, etc. We did not have the no service light on. I think they just reset the linens and left. Staff is unhappy/unfriendly. Not all, but many. Spa was mediocre. Massage itself was fine, but the spa accommodations were subpar compared to other high end hotel spas at equal cost. Dolphin Cay was a decent experience but way over priced. I have about 10 other complaints but the low general quality and low food quality for the costs were the most offensive.

Hi: I'll try to help. First, you mentioned the "Conference Center" but I have only heard of the "Convention Center"... I think they're the same thing. If so, you can easily get there without going outdoors. How far? Well, that's a more difficult question. If you're coming from a room in the West Tower, add some time to the following explanation:
From the East Tower in the Royal Towers, you'll proceed down a corridor to the lobby where you checked in (~2-3 minutes walking at a slow speed). Then you'll continue down the corridor to the Casino (another minute or so)... you'll walk straight through the Casino (another 2-3 minutes) and follow the Exit to "Coral Towers". That'll get you to another corridor (which goes left or right around the retail shops - but don't fret. It's a circle and either route will get you to the same place)... keep following the corridor to the lobby of the Coral Towers. The walk from the Casino to the Coral Lobby will likely take 4 minutes or so. Keep going! One last corridor will get you to the Conference Center. That's probably the longest walk 5 minutes.
So, if you add it up, the walk is probably ~15-17 minutes from the Royal East tower elevators to the Conference Center. I hope that helps.
-Phil
Fairly somewhat close.. you have to leave the Royal Towers and walk outside to the marina village. Its located outside. Then there's another Starbucks which is located in the "Coral building" down a few stairs. And one more Starbucks in the "Reef" building- which is too far from Royal. Hope this helps!
I like the Royals location. You can access everything from there. It’s in the middle of all the slides and activities . There’s also shops and snack bars in the lobby. I really enjoyed the beach in the Coral area because it was less crowded with a calm easy slope and great views of turtles moving through. Bring goggles or a mask.
You don't need cabana service if your staying at the Cove building. The beach chairs have umbrellas and they have a cushion. But if you want the full service (bottle and food service) the cabanas come with that service at a high price!
