First let me say we have been to this property 5 different times with family and friends and Love the location and the staff. I do have a few things tho, 1st the bed was NOT comfortable. 2nd they need to label the food better, I am allergic to shellfish and the close proximity was nerve racking. 3rd The calypso room that held the shows was too acoustically loud, people were just leaving and it was unfortunate because it was the only thing to do. Perhaps more entertainment, a game room or dancing could be incorporated. 4th was the situation on the beach; The vendors who were trying to get you to jet ski, buy bags, braid hair and drink a coconut drink were over whelming, distracting and way too much. Lastly was the trash on the beach. Dear Riu there is such a thing as paper straws and I would suggest having your employees cleaning up the trash on your beautiful beach instead of socializing with the vendors who were harassing your guests. That all being said we would return because of the attentive staff, cleanliness of the rooms, restaurants, the beautiful scenery and value of entire stay.

We have been to this Resort several times over the last decade, but the service we received at the front desk this visit was appalling in terms of the room we were given and how long we had to wait for another room. We have always been given a room in the vicinity of our request in the past, except once and that was rectified within a half hour at the most. This time, we arrived at the hotel at Noon one day and were not given our usual preferred room until 1:00 p.m. the next day, which left an unpleasant feeling to the start of our stay, not to mention the fact that my husband had a disability and was using a walker and a scooter to get around, and we were told that we had to be out of the original room before Noon the next day even though the new room wasn't ready...so couldn't unpack and had to struggle with luggage up and down. I would also comment that the resort was not busy the day we checked in, as could be seen from the pool, buffet, lobby, restaurants, etc. from previous stays. There was a definite vibe that they just did not care! The new room, when we finally did get in, was exactly what we had originally requested and received in past visits. The patio door did stick and the toilet flushed when it felt like it. Towels seemed to be an issue. The first few days we had facecloths and towels. The last 2 days we had to beg the maids for some so we could shower. We had the Caribbean Lobster on 2 prior visits at the Steakhouse...this time, both our Lobsters were tough and not edible, and they seemed to want to rush you through the meal. The one thing we can say from this visit is that all Staff were friendly from the Buffet, to the Bar, to the Pool, to the Bell Desk. We won't be back -- primarily though because of our experience at the Front Desk.

Check in was quick when we arrived in our room the dresser was broke we called right away no one ever came to fix it during our week visit. The cleaning crew was just ok. When we came back to our room (twice) we had no towels, we called at 5:30 no one ever came, we only had 1 robe in our room which we had to share as a towel to get ready because we had dinner reservations at 6:30 so we went and got back around 7:30 STILL no towels, had to call again and FINALLY they came. Our in room bar leaked vodka (we never used it) the whole time they came to replace the bottle but just left it on the counter and did not place it back in the locked cabinet. Getting change for larger bills is almost impossible at the front desk and they are not nice about it you are told to ask the bars to exchange money. ( there is not an ATM or cash exchange machine) The bar tenders are awesome and work hard. A special Thank you to Hugh and Marco for their attentiveness and friendly personalities! The food was good although having to make reservations two days in advance is annoying and most times we’re unavailable until 8:30 in the evening. Honestly the food in the Buffett was better than the steakhouse. We had reservations twice for steakhouse and wanted to substitute the surf and turf filet for ribeye and were told we couldn’t have two entrees but the couple next to us were allowed, we complained about it but were brushed off like oh well! Zero consistency amongst staff members. The pool and beach staff were amazing and really work hard every day! The entertainment was Great however that is the only thing to do at this place. If you are looking for shopping, other entertainment, or a variety of anything to do this is not your place. The Essential store they have in parking lot across the street has the essentials for sure but be prepared to pay big money for it! Everything is double what is should be. Knowing that they bleach the chairs by the outside bar might have been helpful to know before we sat in them both my husband and I left with beach all over our clothes the last morning. We had a Great week with each other in spite of some of these experiences but would not choose the RIU again.

Well what can I say….it was our first time going to the Bahamas and the Riu Hotel did not disappoint, very clean, always got staff cleaning inside and round the pool areas. The staff are so friendly and always said hi as you walked past them. Our room was quite big with a fantastic view of the ocean, pool area and we could also look out over the rest of Paradise Island which was nice.
The food was really good, so much to choose from, it was nice that they did dinner in one restaurant (the steak house) then evening buffet was in the main restaurant, so you didn’t feel like u was eating in the same place every day. The Jerk station round the pool was delicious. There was never a queue to get food where ever you ate either.
The pool area with the swim up bar was so much fun. The bar staff are quick with your drinks and was always entertaining. Lots of choices for drinks and they would also try make what ever drink u wanted that wasn’t on the menu.
We had abit of heavy rain while we was there, it didn’t really stop us from doing anything as it was when we was going to go get ready for the evening and if it did rain while we were near the pool we just sat or stood under the covered bar. If u did go back into the hotel there was someone at the entrance with a towel if your needed one.
The beach is the best I’ve seen, absolutely beautiful, it’s a good stretch of beach so if you like a walk it’s a good option. The water was so clear too. There were your usual jet ski and other water sports there and you didn’t feel pressured to pay to go on them, they were quite respectful.
The evening entertainment was good, u could watch it from the bar area or take a seat in the show room like an audience.
Safe to say we will definitely be returning in the future.

This was the worst experience of my life , me and my husband came Here after our wedding in November 2024. We only made it 2 full days before we caught an early flight home. Once you walk in all you smell is bleach , the floors are so slippery and wet bc they do not have dehumidifier for the building . You CANT ever get into one of the 4 restaurants me and my husband had to eat the buffet they offer for every meal and it was disgusting , same food everyday just moved around to make the stations look new each time. They only give you one lousy pillow each so your head hits the head board at night. We used the app to get water up to our room multiple times bc we have been in the sun and were so thirsty but nobody ever brought any and they marked it resolved on the app. We went downstairs to ask the front desk for some and she basically told me the mini bar is closed and I couldn’t have water. They only have a 24 hour bar so once the pool closes at 6pm you’re bored out of your mind. I watched a woman slip and fall by the pool not one staff member came over to help or check on her. We left a nice tip for the cleaning Room ladies which was a mistake because she only gave us one clean towel for 2 people and when I asked for another she then was rude when handing me a new one. The room floors are full of condensation and the room smelled like mold. When we checked out Early they didn’t even try to accommodate to us or offer a refund for the days we aren’t going to be there. I watched multiple guest complain to try and get into a restaurant because they were starving one lady said she would never come back or recommend and I agree with her. So upset my honeymoon lasted 2 days due to this terrible facility. Oh yeah and we got locked out of our room 3 times due to low batteries is the door which they took forever to fix.

We went for our 20th wedding anniversary and had a nice card and gift of a fruit platter. Having stopped at a few RIUs we thought we knew what we were getting, but - it was easier to get booked into one of their restaurants - some RIUs we never quite made it over a two week holiday. The team working across the whole of the hotel - were exceptional - they wanted you to have a good time - they were so friendly, so welcoming, and felt equally sad when customers were leaving. I only have two things that I would want to be improved…security should move the guys from the bottom of the steps who are offering the visitors ‘snow’ and a ‘smoke’ - I didn’t see anyone take him up on his offer The second… is the Gluten Free selection, needs to be vastly improved - especially to support visitors with coeliac disease. The teams working in the kitchen didn’t understand coeliac disease, which I appreciate - but further into Nassau they did, so there is a learning need of how to cater. Having a pasta salad in the middle of other salads, can cause cross contamination and in a hotel where there is a vast number of fryers to have one available or a pan of oil to cook non contaminated food would be appreciated by many. Lactose free options were few and far between, so I would steer clear if you are GF and DF and vegetarian as you can have a salad. My husband however, if you don’t have any allergies said the food was amazing and always fresh - so it’s great for the many.
We didn’t do the entertainment so can’t comment on this element.
Pool was clean and warm, and the waitresses/waiters walking around getting drinks were worth their weight in gold - the bar can get exceptionally busy.
It’s a small hotel compared to other - but its adult only and you can see the sea - and a larger portion of the sea from all of the rooms (we were on the 14th floor). Housekeeping was sometimes a bit hit or miss - sometimes I had to call for towels, or mugs for hot drinks, but the rooms were always cleaned to a high standard and as soon as you asked for something - like magic - it appeared!
There is a local gift shop, but its located at the bottom of the drive - its expensive and there are shops 20 minutes walk away which are cheaper - but one we went in, most of the shelves were empty.
On the whole we had a great time and were sad to leave this bit of paradise, I would come back for winter sun again - temperature and people were perfect.

Wonderful, romantic vacation! The resort is well-designed and compact making it very easy to navigate. The beach is wonderful, ocean is clear and we had wonderful views from our guestroom balcony.
We read previous reviews that mentioned slipping hazards/slippery floors and some spoke of poor food and we are at a loss. We really enjoyed the variety. The buffet restaurant has plenty of options for all at each meal. So many fruits, vegetables, fresh breads, healthy proteins, variety of food stations each day. We did try the a-la-carte and if we returned to this resort we would skip as we prefer more options (and my husband does not eat seafood).
Staff were very friendly and attentive. Guestroom attendant was always friendly and our room was always spotless, poolside bar service regularly checking in. Restaurant staff friendly and fun! Any associate we encountered was friendly.
I would suggest that maybe the swim-up bar needs some attention. We did only enter once as it felt slimy and the water is hot and it doesn't seem to be circulating.
No worries about that though - the pool was fantastic as was the ocean! This hotel could use a little TLC - but it is very clean.
The beach vendors are very comfortable in the environment around the RIU guests and are often having conversations which sometimes are quite loud and sometimes animated. I would suggest that the resort management just offer a friendly reminder that guests are relaxing and many need this rest time. They are so comfortable with one another I don't think they realize they do it.
Easy taxi ride to Nassau for shopping and we felt very safe and comfortable.
I would recommend this resort to my friends and family at any time! Thank you for the lovely vacation.

On the day of arrival the linen on the bed was not clean and had to be changed and the toilet was clogged so we had to get someone up to fix that as they toilets would not flush . Secondly,we were told to book our restaurants thru the app on when we checked in the only problem with that is the only available reservations for any of their 5 locations for dinner would be for Friday 7/5 the day I would be leaving to check out . Additionally, The front desk told us we would be able to go to the restaurant as people cancel when we got to the empty restaurants-on site ,and yes we went to multiple locations ,we were told we couldn't be accommodated because we did not have a reservation. What a slap in the face . Thirdly, we had two incidents with our safe in two separate days the Tuesday first night the safe kept giving us an error message they sent someone up who changed the batteries but said security still needed to come and reset it and they will be right up 20 min later after waiting we called the front desk to see what the hold up was as we couldn't leave without getting this handled after the call . Only after that call 5 min later did someone come up and he was clueless as to what was going on and what he was needed for. The second issue with the safe on the Thursday the safe gave out and locked our belongs laptop, cells phones , etc in the safe. We reached out at 8:15 ten min went by and had to call again because no one came to room and the items in the safe were need asap .to add , halfway during the fix after finally getting our items out the safe he informed us that he would have to change the safe he would be right back . 20 min went but and he didn't return we had to call down to the front desk to check on his eta. This issue was not rectified until 10am. Fourthly the room as not being throughly cleaned as it should we were not offered shampoo ,Conditioners until Thursday. Lastly , on Thursday night we requested toilet paper at 11:30 and none was brought . We had to reach out twice on Friday morning before tissue was finally brought to the room we were told housekeeping doesn't start until 8 am . Finally I have requested to speak to management on several occasion and was given the run around . There was not one manager who could take the time out to hear our concerns and try to rectify the situation. We were told to send email and write a formal complaint. Do not stay here this is two star at best .

Paid a lot of money and you expect certain standards like shower towels, which were missing every day, impossible to make reservations on app if there is an issue no one will help you and everyone points blame at someone else. Half the staff is rude and dismissive. Parents 50th anniversary and we requested something nice for room, nothing ever done. Food is ok,usually not hot at buffet.

Since stepping foot on property, our experience has been terrible.
First issue occurred when we got out of our taxi and no one greeted us or offered helped with our luggage (Something that has been consistently done when staying at Riu’s).
Secondly they weren’t consistent with handing out fresh beverages for guest as they walked into the resort (Again, something we’re very accustomed to staying at multiple other Riu locations).
Upon checking in, we were told the pools closed at 6 PM (even though this is an adults only 18+ resort). We also were told that dinner reservations at the signature cuisine restaurants ended at 8 PM, which is extremely early and inconvenient for late travelers. We arrived at the resort at 5:30 PM and felt very rushed to enjoy the amenities.
We tried to put our feet into the pool ~8 PM and were told by security that we couldn’t for safety purposes. Though, I’m struggling to understand why if you can pay security to tell people to get out after hours, why can’t after-hours lifeguards be hired to make sure swimmers are safe and escort any overly-intoxicated swimmers out the pool?
Other issues with the room include: The ‘King’ size bed being 2 full mattresses put together. The shower head was essentially hanging out the wall and I could very easily see piping. Mini-bar was open and not fully configured to be utilized. One of our room keys was defective upon arrival. One of the robes has a very noticeable burn hole in it.
I’ve always known Riu to have several nightlife options available to people on the resort; however, it appears as though this location does not provide options for people looking to even just relax and listen to music.
Booking this trip was expensive and we totally regret wasting our time here at this resort.

We also felt safe on the walk. Went there multiple times. Half our group walked home in the wee hours after hitting the casino. Some of called a shuttle. Not because of safety though. lol.

We went with no expectations other than we know that Riu is a fine hotel brand. My wife stayed at the Riu in Cancun. You can't go with any expectations. The staff was lovely. The room was lovely. They kept our fridge well stocked. It does have a younger vibe, so if you're looking to get away from the "spring break" mentality, this is not the place for you. We did meet people our own age and we had a blast. The food was superb all around. If you go with a high bar set, chances are you are going to be disappointed. Hope this helps.
No golf or pickleball at this property. You would need to go to Baha Mar, most likely. Atlantis might have golf, which is within walking distance, but I didn't check. Pool activities and beach activities the Riu does offer.
