Nestled in a prime location, The Reef at Atlantis draws mixed reviews from guests. While the spacious rooms with kitchenettes are a hit, some visitors raise concerns over cleanliness, maintenance, and steep pricing. The hotel's array of amenities, which are spotless and cater to families, receive applause, yet service can be a hit or miss, leaving a few guests dissatisfied. Despite the hotel's cleanliness and convenience to attractions, the high costs, especially for food and activities, lead many to question the overall value.

We just had an amazing trip to Atlantis, first time! Family of 6, we stayed at the Reef which was perfect for us. Loved the water park, did rise and shine with the dolphins which was fantastic, and we snorkeled in the Cove beach. Beautiful property, the weather was perfect for us and we are southerners- in the high 70s/low 80s. The ocean was chilly at first but very quickly felt warm. I had bought wet suit jackets because I was worried about the temps, but only my sensitive red-head child wore one for just a short time. We didn’t do any excursions because we only had a few days. Not sure if this weekend was a low cruise population weekend, but the resort never felt crowded.
We ate at Anthony’s and Violas and enjoyed our meals and the prices. Also ate at a few poolside places for lunch/snacks. The only on-property restaurant we tried was Marina’s pizza which we enjoyed.
We did a half day in Nassau, went to the Pirate Museum, Straw Market, ate at Shenanigan’s. The cruise passengers had just been dropped off, so the crowds were a little overwhelming especially trying to navigate with kids. It was a beautiful thing to get back to the resort and in the beach again.

The Reef is located at the further end from most restaurants/activities. There is a Starbucks and a couple of poolside lunch bars available onsite (on our last day we went to the Beach Bar located at the Beach Hotel, lowest prices and best views of most locations on campus!)There is a MINI convenience store, very pricey and very limited selections. Walking to restaurants and other activities is enjoyable and healthy, but sometimes having more available nearby would be nice. The fitness center was great. Many machines to select from, never overcrowded, very clean (we saw cleaning staff every night as we walked by). They do sell nice fitness clothing near the entrance. The only issue was availability of sizes. Several items carry the TASC name brand. If you opt to take the readily available shuttle, look carefully where it is driving to...it would be more helpful if the shuttle listed every location it is going to... There is a very clean, complementary laundry room on the second floor (bear rights getting out of the elevator) 8 washers, 8 dryers and a utility sink. Laundry products are not available in this laundry room. Persil liquid soap is available in the first floor mini market 40oz, $14.75 plus VAT. I brought HE Tide Pods from home. Many locations in Atlantis areCASHLESS, to avoid problems with your folio/room bill, I highly suggest you keep your receipts and track carefully. A friendly reminder that there is VAT and the gratuity automatically added to every bill on the campus (the only exception re the gratuity seems to be Starbucks) I think even numbered rooms are ocean view and odd numbered are city view. The room was very clean. The Keurig worked well and pods/creamers were replenished dailyThe bathroom is exceptionally nice, wonderful shower. Watch the temp of the mini refrigerator as our items were frozen two separate times. I enjoyed speaking with housecleaning staff the most. Very pleasant. The front desk staff were a mixed bunch relative to friendliness and welcoming attributes. The male concierge working mid afternoon on 31 January was the friendliest person throughout our entire seven day staff (I am sorry I can’t recall his name). Getting outside the campus offers more selections for activities, foo, markets, etc.. there are very high end stores within Atlantis but very few mid price stores. Overall, wonderful weather and glad we visited the Bahamas.

Everyone who can go should go ONCE. In candor, we arrived just as the Coronavirus pandemic took off.

The Pros are the waterpark and beaches with clear water, aquatic life and soft sand. Nice walks to lighthouse and sculpture. The river and slides had easy to get tubes being at 10% of capacity (tough with crowds I am sure) The aquariums and the DIG are Disney-esque. The dolphin experience was great. The food was tasty, shareable with many restaurants on site. The Point was the best. The place is so big and spread out the buses' drop off is good. The REEF was extremely nice. Great fitness center. Many great photo ops all over. The Royal is like a Vegas hotel. Stop at a grocery store to get some snacks and alcohol so as to not have to buy as much there
The Cons: This place is expensive. Dolphin Cay charges $18 for 25 minutes to only stand on the beach. Expect to spend about $85 including 12% VAT and a 15% automatic gratuity for lunch for 4. A paddle board at Poseidon's Lagoon is $45 for 25 minutes. To quote a worker, "Nothing is free here, Man!!" Plus $84 per day resort charge on top of the room charge. Most workers who were there did not help unless asked. They did not know as much as I would expect of a place like this .They closed down some slides and pools on our 4th day given low capacity. They were trying to make the best with limited staff, but at this price point you can deliever more..
Overall we had a great time. Remember to take your upfront cost and then add 27%!!

We stayed at the Atlantis again for first time in 3 years. Not much has changed with the Reef and the Cove worth the upgrade since the other parts not as nice and much louder/crowded. The problem is they understaff for peak vacation times and lines are long during this period. The water slides are always good entertainment for kids and great fireworks for New Years.

Most importantly do not charge items to room since they have a 12.5% VAT tax for services and goods purchased like meals. If you put it on your room charge then you will have to pay another 12.5% VAT tax in your final hotel bill on the same charge - so effectively paying over 25% VAT tax on meals put on your room - so pay with credit card at point of service.

We booked an ocean view studio. The room was clean and nice and the view was great. We didn’t receive the requested 2 queen size beds but we knew that was a possibility.

Upon check in they stressed that the minibar had weight sensors and If we moved any thing we bought it

My husband opened the minibar upon arrival and saw it was half empty. He snapped a quick photo to protect us. We went to the pool and lunch. We came back and opened the minibar and a few beers and sodas were missing. He snapped another photo and went to talk to the front desk. His major concern was that someone was in our room in our absence

We got a call the next day telling us they had removed the charges. They said the beverage attendant had “removed expired items” during the restocking process. I am not sure how soda and beer expires and why the restocking process didn’t also include adding items? And why would we be charged? If we hadn’t called would the charges be removed?

Their explanation was complete BS. Make sure you use the safe in your room for your valuables

Otherwise, I thought the food at the resort was better than I expected. The chair situation at the pool and beach was ridiculous. People put items on the chairs at 630 am and left them there all day. I wondered why the resort allowed this behavior and then I heard that the pool staff with do this for you if you tip them well. Great customer service at a resort this expensive to have a family of 4 share one chair or sit on the ground while 3/4 of the chairs sit empty for most of the day.

I have mixed feelings on Atlantis. The staff at the restaurants were lovely. The room and location of the Reef were great. The food albeit expensive was good. But the customer service and general staff attitude is no where near a Four Seasons experience

Based on the other reviews, I was prepared to be disappointed with my experience. However, I was pleasantly surprised. On the whole, we left with a very nice experience with our extended family and I plan to return again.

Positives:
Facilities are excellent:
The resort was beautiful, well maintained and the Reef rooms were large, and in good condition. Pool, beach and all the amenities of the water park are fantastic.

Great to have kitchens in the rooms- we generally ate breakfast at home in the rooms and lunch by the pool/beach.

Staff does a great job masking and cleaning up the areas frequently.

Easy to take shuttles to other parts of resort to see the rest of the area.

Negatives:
Staff were generally pleasant, but some were fairly aloof and not super helpful. I would say this is the biggest area for improvement in the resort given the price you pay.

Food was average. Lots of room for improvement here.

Mattresses could use updating- our bed had a large depression in it.

Housekeeping was intermittent- there were a few days we didn’t get any service in our room.

I love that you were able to fill up water but it both smelled and tasted unpleasant most of the time.

Tips:
If you don’t get to beach or pool early, all the good seats are taken. Similarly the pool doesn’t give out beach towels later in the day (by 4pm) so good to have towels by then.

careful do bot buy food credits you will be limited on using them and will potentially lose some of them although it is very enticing buying them since they will tell you you will receive $15.00 dollars extra for every $100.00 dollars you buy it sounds great however, if you cant use the and are going to lose them why buy them in the first place. Once you check in please inspect your room before you unpack we were given an upgrade but the room had low water pressure and toilets would clog up other than this room was relatively good. for the children the resort is very good especially Dolphin Cay where the Kids had a great experience with Dolphins. Pool areas and Beach area was very good. The price of items at the resort was out of this world Take your own water since a liter of water is almost $17.00 dollars. Your only option is to go into town and buy a a local store but the Taxis are ridiculous we paid $100.00 for a round trip ride that was no more than 5 min away to a local store just over the bridge

We just arrived at the Reef and my experience checking in thus far has been truly disparaging. We were offered an upgrade about two weeks before our arrival. The offer was for a room upgrade for about $600 for the duration of our stay. I replied that I would like the upgrade and was notified that the upgrade would process during checkin. I get to the hotel and the manager, Germel, proceeds to try to upsell this same room for $4000 instead of the upgrade I was previously offered if $600. I show him the official email sent to me by Atlantis, and he simply did not care. This upgrade I was offered two weeks before my arrival via email was completely unsolicited so why give that offer only to not honor it when it comes time to actually check in? He stated because of occupancy he can’t give me that rate, but when the initial offer came, they had my exact dates of stay. I am not one to let things like this go so I will follow up after I escalate this complaint further up the ladder. Total scam!

Great get away place for families or couples . Everyone can find own place to relax and enjoy. Atlantis consist of 3 main hotels Atlantis , Reef , Cove
We stayed at Reef :
We didn’t receive the requested 2 queen size so sofa was ok for a short stay. Rooms are clean. Dinner at fish restaurant at Cove for $300 without wine not worth it.
Access to cove swimming pools were not allowed as they are only for Cove guests
we didn't have enough time to visit water park at Atlantis side

I thought it was a very nice resort. We met a few families that said they come every year. The food was good and the amenities were also good. We had a 2year old but older kids will have tons to do. The only critique I have is that every chair at the pool or beach did not have a working canopy. The beach and pool are the reasons we go to Carribean. It’s sort of ridiculous that only some chairs have canopies. It’s also ridiculous that hotel
Guests have to stress about getting a lounger. Hot guests hoard pool chairs all day and then go to the water park, where you have to fight the crowds of people from cruise ships to find a chair (hence why they stake their claim at the pool as a home base) Hotel guests should have reserved areas in the water park and there should be a limit to the amount of time you can just leave a towel unattended in a chair before staff clean it off. These are the reasons, we won’t be returning. You can spend the same amount or less elsewhere in the Carribean and not have to worry about getting to the pool/beach before breakfast to claim a lounger, and be able to get an umbrella with no hassles. The resort does allow you to reserve cabanas but for the amount you pay, should you really have to do that to have seating?

All the ADA rooms are located on the first floor no matter what hotel you stay in. We stayed in the Reef in a suite there were no steps, and the doors were all wide enough to get into the bathrooms which it had 2bathrooms. The Reef in one of the newest hotels but it's far from a lot of the action. I rented a beach wheelchair, and it worked great to get on the beach and into the ocean. If you have any more questions, please ask. Thanks, Kieth
