This hotel is across the street of the Taino beach and club resort. It is a 3 story hotel. It looks good from the outside but…the rooms are VERY outdated. The walls are so thin that you can hear your neighbours talking!! No elevator. The hotel has 3 ice machines, one per floor, but the only one that works is on the third floor…The rooms have a small bar like kitchen. We had one plate, one coffee cup and 4 knives…it has a microwave, a very small coffee pot but we asked for coffee packets and they were very hard to get! We were told to go to the reception across the street (Taino resort) where they have complimentary coffee in the morning…The fridge was ok. Small bar like fridge! There was no hairdryer in the bathroom and I had to ask several times to get one. I finally did after 3 days! The bed was very comfortable! When we arrived, the tv remote didn’t work so I called the front desk several times and they finally gave us a new remote the same night. Our room was facing the marina so the view was pretty. Lastly, the room’s doors (front and the communicated door, had a large space between the door and the floor so we had to put towels to prevent critters from coming in!! Will never go back!!

Stayed at Flamingo as we were in a fishing tournament in Freeport and it seemed close in proximity to the event. I have stayed in the past and the rooms are clean and convenient. Not a Ritz by no means , however,if you like to fish it is just a room to stay and very close to your boat. It is attached to a full service resort so you can enjoy the beach, pool and restaurant. My issue while staying at the hotel was the noise from rude boaters who played extremely loud music throughout the night with no regard for the other guests. It did not seem like the hotel could manage it.

Went to take a fishing trip with friends who have stayed at Flamingo in the past . We were just looking for convenience and a room as we knew we would not be spending much time on the property . The Manager was very accommodating and the rooms although not certainly luxurious but clean and simple . We went to the pool and it was very nice . It depends what you are looking for , however , if you want to fish out of Lucaya, I would recommend . I might add the marina is right outside your room so it is very convenient and safe.

The beds feel like springs, the refrigerator was broken and they close everything early. The bar closes at 4:30 pm- no one is even drinking at 4:30. The restaurant closes at 6 and you have to either take a ferry (which closes early if there’s no cruise ships) or take a 35 dollar cab which only accepts cash. DO NOT COME HERE!!!! The hotel is very unaccomodating Unfair to guests.

Yes, just like these reviews say, it needs some renovations, especially after the hurricane, but they are working on it with the resources they have! Every day, they are improving a room! It is only a quick walk to their pool, which has an awesome slide over their grotto swim up bar. Also there are hammocks, pool volleyball nets, and tanning/wading areas. The beach is gorgeous! I loved the Lucaya marketplace, once I found it 😂 The people there are so friendly! We made great connections! Big Mama, the excursion specialist, made so many things happen for us!! Our trip wouldn’t have been as awesome without her, Patrice, and Tammy (sp?) we love y’all!

Love Nat and Amanda 😊

My husband and I just returned a vacation package cruise to Freeport, Grand Bahamas and it was recommended by the agent that we stay at the Flamingo Bay Yacht Club. When we arrived we were in for the shock of our lives. The initial room we were assigned to had the most horrible musty smell, mold and mildew on the walls, sink and the floors were dirty. The room was just a regular room with a small rusty microwave, toaster and coffee pot situated in a little room that obviously used to be a part of the bathroom since the bathroom had to vent but this part did. There was no phone and we had to pay a twenty dollar deposit.

After being assigned another room, it was also musty but they sent a cleaning lady to clean up. When I looked behind the door, it had black mold or mildew, I asked her for her cleaning solution which contained a clorox solution and sprayed it on myself to show her that it comes off it wiped. We had no other choice but to stay there since we had to stay for 4 days.

The toilet bowls contained mildew also. There was no restaurant on site but we had access to the one located across the street at the Ritz. The service there was so slow, the wait was normally one hour regardless to what you ordered. One morning (8 a.m.)I ordered 3 pancakes only and it took the same hour and I was the only one there except for a gentleman who ordered a cup of coffee. There was an open bar restaurant a little ways up the street but you had to go past vendors to get to it. They serve a breakfast buffet for $6.50 whereas the restaurant price was $10.00.

The hotel staff was very friendly and tried to help with all our issues.

The hotel is situated in a secluded spot on Taino Beach so unless all you wanted to do was sit on the beach, swim or do other water sports there was basically nothing to do although the water ferry was located directly behind resort that took you into Lucaya (which is the place I will stay next time) for $3 each way.

The Ritz across the street is a part of the same property, so you have access to the largest most incredible pool. The pool's depth is from 0-5 feet and has hot tub, cave bar with barstools in the water, water slide, hammocks.

Never again will I even consider staying at the Flamingo Bay Yacht Club. I'm still wondering how it got that name. I'm glad I brought along Frebreze and Lysol disinfectant and wipes.

Transportation is a problem since there was not any public transportation from that part so you had to use taxis or the tour buses.

My boyfriend and I wanted to get away for a nice quiet vacation. We had the most wonderful time. The staff was vary nice and accommodating-we had to check out 5 hours before our boat was supposed to leave and they put our luggage away in their storage room so that we could go spend time on the beach and not have to take our luggage with us! I believe that they had just renovated because everything looked beautiful and clean, which we didn’t expect. The Flamingo Bay was a perfect location, we were right at the beach and they had a ferry that was much cheaper than having to take a taxi every time we wanted to go to the market. We ate at the hotel restaurant once and it was very good. I suppose it’s not a place you would want to go if you’re trying to be wild and crazy, but if you want a nice relaxing vacation where you can go lay in a hammock by the beach, or lay out by a huge pool, then this is the place you want to stay.

My boyfriend and I decided to go to the Bahamas for New Year's Eve. We found a very reasonable pkg on Expedia. We are used to beach hotels so we were ready for a little wear and tear. So, that being said, our complaints are not about that, but about service and attitude.

The hotel is part of a complex with a restaurant and timeshare properties across the street (where the pool actually is), with the beach beyond that. It's a lovely beach and the hotel pool is beautifully laid out with a grotto cave-like bar, and a lazy river style inner-tube float around the outside. The rooms were clean and we had no issues at all with the maid staff. They were helpful and friendly and kept the rooms clean. The issues we experienced had to do with the general staff at the hotel and the attitudes of a few and the apparent lack of oversight. With a beautiful location, and some good amenities, I do really think that this hotel has a potential to be really something. However, but they need to train and periodically evaluate their people to ensure their service, or this place will surely slide into obscurity.

On check-in there was one group ahead of us getting a total of 4 rooms. The check-in person seemed not to know what to do and took a very long time to check them in, reprinting paperwork, and a lot of confusion. Then she insisted on putting on each person's wristband by hand, one at a time, instead of letting them do it. You have the have the wristband to do anything at the hotel, so it's not like they were going to give the bands away or sell them or anything. This took a very long time. We were next in line and waited almost an hour to check in. We got no orientation regarding the hotel (restaurant, services, etc.), but quite frankly we were so exhausted by the travel and our wait, we didn't stay around to push for information. We were given a 3rd floor room, and informed there were no elevators. No one volunteered to assist us with our bags. We were left to drag ourselves and our bags to our rooms alone. Not a good first impression.

We went to dinner at the hotel restaurant which is open air and lovely in a beachy sort of way. We waited for some time to be waited on. The hotel appeared to be out of many things, and we asked for 3 things that weren't available until we hit on the menu items that were available. I asked for water with lemon and the waitress kind of looked at me and kind of slumped her shoulders shoulders as if I'd asked for something impossible. She never came back and someone else brought me water and walked away before I could mention it was missing the lemon. The food was very good but a little expensive but without much choice, we still considered it a good deal. There did not appear to be any other restaurants in walking distance, and the only other option without a car was to pay $12 for the 2 of us to take the ferry to Port Lucaya.

Since the pool closed at 6pm, we walked the property and the beach, and looked into the gift shop. I was looking for flip flops and possibly a cover up, but discovered that the only size they had of most things were small as they said they have run out of a lot of their stock. I asked for sunscreen and they stated they were out of it. When I wanted to purchase some eggs to take to our room for use in the kitchenette, I was informed that I had to buy a minimum of $10 because I was using a credit card. The option to charge to my room was not given, and it would have been easy to spend that $10 if they would have had what I wanted in stock. Reluctantly I purchased some deodorant as I was running a bit low and one other item in order to meet my minimum.

The next morning we went to the restaurant for breakfast. There was a nice layout of hot breakfast including eggs sausage pancakes and such. There was a large tray which appeared to have had bacon in it at one time, but was never refilled until 5 minutes before we left. I was a little alarmed at the temperature of the food, as it seemed barely hot enough to be safe. I asked for hot sauce for my eggs and got the same shoulder slumping response and the waitress never came back again. I asked someone else for my hot sauce and got it. This was the way with service here.

At 10am, a bus showed up with many people who we deduced must be from a cruise ship, visiting for the day. To our surprise, the hotel staff spoke to the gathering of visitors, explaining all the features of the "resort", the policy on signing out beach towels, the hours of the grotto bar, etc. We stood by to get our orientation as we had not heard any of this information before. Within minutes, the grounds were swamped with people. All the inner-tubes were taken, along with most of the lounge chairs. We went to the front desk to sign out beach towels, and were told they were out and that we needed to wait. They located 2 more towels, but by then, my boyfriend had stepped into the bathroom, so they gave one to me, and gave the other away to one of the bus visitors, even though my boyfriend was in the bathroom right next to the front desk where she was standing. We gave up and took our one towel and headed to the hot tub.

The hot tub has a sign outside of it that says that no one under 14 was permitted in it. There were several kids in it, and no one watching out for that. I read the sign, aloud, in hopes that someone would hear me. No one did, but the kids moved on eventually. The hot tub was so dirty that we could barely see the bottom. It was very warm, though, so we did use it. (This was not an isolated incident. We came back to it each day, and each day it was dirtier than the first. I do not think they ever cleaned it while we were there.)

Next we went to the grotto bar. It is a swim up bar on one side, and a walk in bar on the other side. It was a very cute idea, and we couldn't wait to sit and relax a bit. The bar tender acted like it was an effort to serve us. After she served us one round, she never came back to us even though we were right in front of her trying to get her attention for a 2nd round. The other gentlemen waited on us and was very friendly, but walked away without collecting our money. The girl kept stocking beer in front of us, but never looked up, and the music was so loud that we couldn't make ourselves heard over it. We finally got her attention and paid, and left. Incidentally, this woman avoided us the next 2 times we went there, and she was the only one there, so it was next to impossible to get served. We eventually resorted to walking to the restaurant bar when we needed a drink.

We did take a glass bottom boat trip from the hotel and it was very enjoyable. The boat driver was friendly and helpful and put in extra effort to ensure we saw all of the features of the tour, including several trips to the shark area to ensure we got to see the sharks. It was a little alarming that they bait the sharks in the same area the snorkeling and diving folks were swimming. Although the sharks aren't large (3-5 feet), it still didn't seem all that good an idea.

We signed up for the $50 per person New Year's Eve bonfire and dinner because it seemed like a nice option to end our trip. It was supposed to be all you can eat and drink, and ending with a nice bonfire on the beach. At 4pm I called down to the front desk to verify the start time, and was told it would start at 5pm. We got ready and headed to the restaurant at 5pm, only to be told that the event was canceled and we needed to go back to the hotel if we wanted our refund. When we did, the hotel desk didn't know about the cancelation, and said the activity desk was closed and that the person was gone for the day. We were informed we couldn't get our refund until 9am the next day. The problem was, we were leaving at 7am the next day for the airport. At that time, the front desk informed us of the "welcome center" down the road near the condos. We had never been told of such a center, which we found entertaining. Well, perhaps that was what was missing then, the "welcome"? Lol! We walked down the road to the welcome center and finally got our refund. Luckily we had gotten ourselves a car the day before, so we drove to Port Lucaya and had a lovely dinner off the site, in spite of it all.

Checking out the next morning, it was as if one more thing had to happen to make our "welcome" complete. We were trying to check out and get our key deposit before heading to the airport. The front desk clerk was counting out change and looked up as if we were disturbing her. She said just a minute, and continued to count change for quite some time. We said that the room was pre-paid and we're sorry but we need our key deposit back so that we could head for the airport. She told us she was counting and she "can't stop" or she'll lose her place. She made us wait for her counting the entire drawer. After that, she gave us our key and our proof of the key deposit refund, and we left.

We will not return to the Flamingo Bay. Our hope is that someone in authority at this hotel may read this and do something to improve the service and attitude there. If not, we are quite sure that things will not improve. That would be quite a shame because there are some good people there who want to do the right thing. All they need is the structure and the support to make it happen.

It is with great regret that we read about your experience with us. We take pride in ensuring our customer’s satisfaction. Your comments regarding the service you received at our restaurant are very important to us. Unfortunately, we did not meet your or our own expectations. To solve the problem, we will be placing a few of our best servers on call during peak evening hours and making staff changes. All wait and bar staff will receive special training during the next two weeks so they will be better prepared to serve all our customers. Stayed at the resort for 3 nights before Christmas (21 -24).
Temperatures were between 75 day and 62 night.

Hotel rooms were clean and all amenities were functional including: Coffee maker, refrigerator, Ice Bucket, Blue Vase (1), conch shell, microwave oven, plates (4), dishes (4), mugs (4), Cups (4), Sharp knife (1), bath towels,(4),Hand towels (4), dish towels (4) bar towel (1), dish towel (1).

Sorry for listing items, but upon check-in your are required to inventory room items and return a signed sheet. This provides a hand-off of responsibility to the renter (I have no problem with this process, understanding the problems with renting).

Maid service was prompt, efficient, friendly and professional.

Beach and pool were a short walk from the room and both were immaculate.

Taxi service to downtown is very convenient, particularly if you are drinking at the casino.

MUST DO includes: 1. Walking the sandbars on the beach in Lucayan National Park. They are about 100ft into the water and ankle deep. Park is about 10 miles east. 2. They are filming Pirates of the Caribbean IV and the set is about 5 miles east of the resort. The set is visible from the road.

I'm ready to go back....

We stayed at Flamingo Bay Yacht Club Marin for one week with two small children. The room was small, but beautifully furnished. The hotel has been renovated after the hurricane in 2005. The staff members were are way too laid back and not very friendly (except for the maids). The pool is across the street from the hotel and is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. Unfortunately, the waterslide was closed most of the time! They had thousands of excuses to why they kept it closed. This was a great disapointment since we had chosen the hotel only beacuse of the waterslide. The beach area right infront of the resort is very nice. However, if you take a little walk or take a look around you can see the devistation from the hurricane. Many of the buildings are totally destroyed, the trees along the shoreline are dead and there is a lot of glass to be found in the sand. You have to take a ferry to access anything. There is no grocery store close by. The hotel charged us $15.00/per person per night as an extra fee, which was pretty outrageous. We would probably not go back.

This was not a "question" but a response. Sorry. I already stayed there in August with 3 wonderfully behaved grandsons. But, do not let the staff tell you the ONLY way to take the ferry is to BUY TICKETS from the hotel. NOT SO!! The ferry driver will take $ and it is NEVER more. AND--if you have an RCI CARD-take advantage of it and use it for the ferry -It is an RCI perk for those who use that credit card. .-You DO get a discount.(it is $3.00; not $7.).The ferry driver is happy to honor it for any hotel. With that card you need not even be staying at a hotel. As for Big MaMa and the excursions, The pigs were not her tour.,She did not steer us well with the taxi escort she called to have us Swim with the Pigs. The lady (Hila or a similar name-was money hungry only. She was NOT accommodating with anything and charged $300.00 for me and for 3 young boys. I told her I WANTED TO JUST WATCH the boys swim with pigs. She insisted watching cost the same-$75.00. When we got there I learned it was supposed to be $5.00 only for me to watch. I was burning inside. AND-you do not take guests to a beach and then get furious if a spec of sand gets in the car.(especially when I paid $300.00 to get there and to experience the pigs which I did not care about anyway. The boys loved the pig gig. They also spent a lot of time cleaning off their shoes for her. I wanted to stop briefly at MARTIN TOWN where my FL friend is from. She knew it from the start of our drive and said we would be going there. I saw the sign. She whizzed by it and would not turn around for me to snap a photo. She said we would go there en route back so--OK. We did not even go that way back. She was NOT the driver for us.I am sure Big MaMa would agree even if they are friends. Team up with a few other guests and rent a car.

The Flamingo Hotel rooms only have a toaster, microwave, coffee maker and small refrigerator. There are no cooking facilities. There is a gift shop in the lobby with some grocery items or there is a grocery store 10 minutes away by taxi.

We stayed here with our kids who were 5,9 and 11 at the time. I did see young couples at the pool with infants as well. More importantly, you should check on their recovery from Hurricane Matthew. They may not be back open, or even have power at this point.
